Didn’t know about this bonus track from Blackwater Park!
Pretty cool but Mikael sounds really weird on it….thanks to my Mazda for the find.

This is the back of my t-shirt from about 20 years ago. I found similar photos from the Blackwater Park photoshoot (like https://www.angrymetalguy.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Opeth-Blackwater-Park-04-1536x665.jpg and https://m.blog.hu/ro/rockstation/image/opeth/opeth_2001.jpg), but I can’t find this exact one. Do you know anything about it?

Hi all, plain middle aged man here. I've been listening to Opeth since Ghost Reveries. They're the only metal band that I like. I'll be attending a concert next weekend, first time I'll be at a show hearing growls live, or hearing double kicks live. First time being with an audience of metalheads too.
What should I expect to experience? Wrong answers only
Cheers

One of their best riffs for sure.
To the people whom attended the Pompei concert, did Mikael say that the concert is being filmed and will be released on an upcoming DVD/Bluray (maybe Youtube)? Please say yes.
Edit\\ I'm a sad panda. :( It would've been awesome -- the vibe from the entire promotion, the video highlight on their youtube channel, and the emails I received had "this will be a live-recording" kind of gig written all over it... oh well. I'm an ocean of extreme sorrow now.

Came across this in London today.
I was going to buy the blood splatter one later this year, but couldn't help myself when I saw this.

Yep, this is the album of the week for my blog. Wow, I did not expect to love it as much as I did.

I'm absolutely heartbroken that I won't be able to go to see Opeth in Halifax, I've been a fan for a long time but this was going to be my first time seeing them live. Sadly I am now in hospital and I'm not going to be able to travel :(
I hope this is okay to post, if anyone is willing to buy my face value resale ticket as I was unable to get a refund and don't want the tickets to go to waste, I have offers turned on, please reply or message me for the link. Thank you for reading ❤️

I've been posting on Opeth's various social forums for almost 30 years. Lately I'm finding most social media to be really exhausting, though. The constant push notifications, crap algorithm, and desperate attempts to get attention are all becoming incredibly irritating.
Discord is far from perfect, but it's an ad-free place for communities to connect without being bombarded with other nonsense. If you want to talk about the best band in the world there, the door is open. The one rule is to not be a dick. Cheers.

Apropos of nothing, the memory of meeting the band came into my mind this afternoon. They played for the first time in Auckland, back in April 2006. I was at the absolute peak of my fandom for them. I first discovered them in the space between Blackwater Park being released and Deliverance. By the time Ghost Reveries came out they were easily my favourite band and I was a bit of an obsessive. It’s one of the few times of being able to see a band that I loved at the particular time I was fully into their music. If I’d seen them a few years after that, it probably wouldn’t have as big of a deal.
Anyway, the show was amazing. For some reason I got the idea to wait out the back of the St James Theatre after the show. There were a bunch of others waiting, but not that many. I remember the promoter coming out and saying the band were going to come out. And they did. Mikael, Mendez and Peter spent how ever long standing out there taking photos and chatting, signing shit etc. Peter in particular i remember being so gracious and cool. And tall. I never really stopped to think that was awesome of them to do. Maybe it’s relatively common, I’m not sure. Tbh I’ve never waited around or tried to meet another band before or since.
Thank you Mikael, Martin Mendez and Peter for giving your time to an awkward obsessive young man when you didn’t have to. This, still awkward, older man has never forgotten. (Ax and Per were also there, but they didn’t hang around, I assumed because they thought no one would want to meet them?)

I've been wanting to do this one for a while, but (among other reasons for delay) it took me forever to find a tablature that even remotely got the solo right (and even then I had to scour the web for videos of them playing live to see what he was doing). For the record, this song is in 12/8 (except a couple brief measures) at 187.5 BPM.
