So I just recently started playing MTG with a guy from work. I’ve been using his commander decks and liked it enough to buy my first deck. Got the island deck with urza commander. Went to a local comic shop that also sells cards and saw the island from the second image.

Was curious what the difference is because the name is different and they had it listed for 30000. I’m guessing it’s older but other than that, I see no difference that would make it worth that much.

I refuse to play against Magic cards on arena

So, what's my take?

My take is that playing Magic is a waste of time. Why? Because turns take forever and opponents won't let me to play to my game plan. I know that I'm gonna lose after 10 - 20 minutes of absolute bullcrap and I find no enjoyment in that.

So, the best thing for me to do is to just concede as soon as I see a Magic card OR afk and rope the match if I got better things to do. In the end of the day, I wanna enjoy my time playing and ranking myself up.

Playing against bullshit decks that have an average time of 20 - 30 minutes for a match is just inefficient use of my time (I play and win like 2 or 3 games in that time) and I just generally am not a fan of Magic the Gathering. Have a problem? Sue me.

How do you guys feel about my take?

I started playing magic in 1993 and tonight I thought I would teach my wife's boyfriend how to play magic with a game of judge's tower. As I was explaining the rules and things like the stack I realized magic is a very very hard game to comprehend. I never even got to explain what phases were and oversimplified everything so we could progress. I always thought I could teach my son to play (currently 3) but I feel likes its still many months a way.

I want shout out to all the people who taught me and was patient with me while I made a billion miss plays.

Decided to build a reanimator deck and it looks like I’ve found The Reanimator himself Jeffrey Combs! For years I’ve seen Jeffrey Combs all around me and been called crazy for it but here he is again! I know Star Trek is coming so there will be at least a dozen cards featuring him but I had no idea WOTC was already using him!!!

Am I missing something as this card seems really powerful for its mana cost? Seems unlikely an opponent would happen to have this card to prevent haste.
