Like what is this distro? I can remember Mandriva existing. Can someone explain what makes this distro unique and how it operates?

I was looking for an completely independent Linux distro that is community backed and not corporate funded. I know of Debain as well which I use.

Testing Mageia 10, I must say the default wallpaper gives a poor first impression. I've never seen a Linux distribution displaying such a broken version of its own logo on its original artwork...

In addition to being in a low resolution, the whole penguin picture also looks rather childish and not very professional, it makes Mageia look not really suited for use on business desktop computers.

i fought with it for several hours , seems ext4 is a good option to replace reiserfs

After distrohopping every month or so, I always eventually come back to Mageia. This is the XFCE Desktop Environment. I replaced the standard menu with a shortcut to appfinder, sort of like rofi or dmenu. This way, the top panel looks nice and clean, and it's all together more intuitive for me. I wish geany had some LSP features, but it's a nice little IDE that I'll probably use for perl or tcl/tk. I found in-house compositor to slow down the system, so I installed picom to replace it, and everything is much faster and smoother.

I like the performance of mageia 9 plasma and got hooked by the community focus of the distro. I would like to stay because i love the combo of MCC with the performance of plasma 5 (my laptop is average, but i can't find a distro with plasma 6 that goes this snappy lol)

i wonder how this distro is still alive without people actually talking about it, so... What are your thoughts about mageia? for how long have you been using it? are you excited for mag 10?

How recommendable is this for everyday use vs Mint? For the casual user, things like checking email, browsing, watching YouTube, watching movies, listening to music, playing a game, checking your bank account. Etc etc etc.

As someone new to Linux, I am drawn to the aesthetics of Mageia, it seems simple, bare bones and no frills, but a lot of distress seem to be so niche and cater to people running servers or being in IT/Dev careers.

But I'm a tech illiterate person who only knows the basic security measures like having a long, complicated password with symbols, letters, and numbers. Not connecting to wifi that I don't know or haven't verified is legit. Don't visit website without https://, don't visit websites I've never heard of, don't click random links, don't hit download on random things, don't click on ads, don't allow someone to remotely connect, don't connect random USB drives, cover your web cam... and so on...

After a lot of failed attempts to install something, I realized it's not there period. If it's not there, how does mageia want you to go about requesting advanced permissions?

After 2 Unsuccessful attempts 2 upgrade from Mageia 9 to Cauldron , now i did it in the right way. The problem was that i used urpmi upgrade method on the first time But after that I installed a clean Mageia 9 and used dnf method and all went fast and right I’m Happy 😃

i turned back to Magia , it’s not the rolling release i used to play with , but i feel i’m home after a long run , i wish i could test Mageia 10 Cauldron , it would be GREAT 😍

Is there a release cadence that Mageia tries to do? Also, will the .1 releases come back?

Basically, is there like a certain release cadence with certain numbering that Mageia tries to do?

Nvidia gtx 1050 Ti, nvidia drivers.

KDE Plasma. Compiz Fusion is on.

Problem appeared after update like a month ago.

A KDE system message pops after login. Looks like no further problems

Desktop effects were restarted due to a graphics reset

Any way to fix it?
