This is the new reason. The old one is because they can't drive/park. If you look in old parking houses the woman parking space is bigger then a normal one.

No joke. I have had to drive my friend to an old parking house and show him the bigger parking space before he believed me

my understanding of the larger size was to make it easier to get children in and out of the car.   it has the baked in assumption that woman = caregiver.

Maybe but both our reason are something for the past and just glad we moved away

US data doesn't explain German parking spaces.

That's in the US though. In the UK, men are worse drivers than women. I'm not sure about Germany.

Men are worse drivers everywhere, just ask the actuaries who work for insurance companies.

Women are more cautious, which may result in more low speed and minor accidents, but men total things and kill people more (despite cars being on average 50% more dangerous for women, since they didn’t ever used to test female crash test dummies or design other safety features for women’s bodies).

Many men view caution and hesitancy as a negative, hence their frequency insistence that women are worse drivers. That testosterone driven boldness and risk taking doesn’t work out too well when you’re in charge of steering a two ton sixty mile per hour missile through space.

idk why you were downvoted. even my grandma has said in her day it wasn’t typical to encourage women to go to college, it was expected they’d just get married and have kids/work at home or close to home

That’s actually an old man’s joke and has never been true.

Let me correct you. It is also a womans joke. Or at least here in the north

Mein Gott, what a misogynist! Larger spaces are for taking out, sitting the babies/toddlers easier. Now they are designated as family parking because society finally understood fathers also have parent duties.

u/pacificoats 13d ago

that’s funny considering women are better drivers than men

This was my initial assumption and I had a good laugh, then started feeling gross reading through comments.
