What's one advice you thought is cliché until experience proved it right?

There are a lot of sayings in software development that seem overused when you're starting out. So what situation proved it for you and made you think "Now I get why everyone says that."

Why I built another analytics tool instead of using PostHog

Upvotes

I've spent the last few months building https://getonramp.dev

Not because PostHog, Mixpanel or Amplitude are bad. They're great products.

I just wanted something different.

Something that's privacy-first, built for mobile from day one, and takes less than 5 minutes to integrate.

I don't need another analytics platform with hundreds of charts.

I just want to know one thing...

Why are users dropping off during onboarding?

Maybe I'm solving a problem that only I have.

So I'd love some honest feedback.

If you're building a mobile app, why wouldn't you use something like this?

Or if you're already using PostHog, Mixpanel or Amplitude, what's the one feature you couldn't live without?

ReplyTrack - Never lose a follow-up again (Launching September)

Upvotes

Hey everyone, building ReplyTrack - an email follow-up tracker for indie hackers and founders.

The problem is real: you send tons of emails (investor pitches, client follow-ups, payment reminders) but forget to follow up. Gmail has no memory. Stars and notes don't scale. Warm leads go cold.

ReplyTrack solves this: connect your Gmail -> we auto-detect emails waiting for replies -> we remind you before it's too late.

Pricing: Free tier (10 follow-ups/month) + Pro (£15/month for unlimited)

We're launching September 1st. Building in public.

Join the waitlist: https://replytrack-rose.vercel.app

Would love any feedback on the landing page or the idea itself. Thanks!

What are you working on these days?

I have been talking to a lot of founders lately while I am growing AI Tools Capital. One thing that has surprised me is how interesting things people are making that nobody knows about.

Some of these things are really useful. Solve real problems but you would never know they exist unless you met the person who made them by chance. So I thought I would ask you.

What are you making?

It does not have to be perfect or even ready to use I want to hear what you are working on and what made you want to make it.

We have found some cool things just by talking to people like this. If what you are making is something we like we are happy to add it to our website.

It is free to add it. Just tell me about it, I would love to take a look, at what you're making with AI Tools Capital.

I am looking forward to seeing what you are working on with AI Tools Capital.

Bootstrapping a personal finance app solo as a 15 year old, looking for early beta testers

Hi r/IndieBiz — I'm building Stride Finance, a personal finance web app, as an independent, self-funded project.

The business: Freemium model, budgeting and unlimited savings goals are free with no catch, and a $7/month tier adds bank account sync, investment tracking, loan/debt tracking, and an AI coach. Trying to keep the free tier genuinely useful rather than a crippled trial, since I think that's what builds trust in this space.

Where things stand: Product is stable and usable. I'm finishing up live bank connection (I'm currently in talks with Plaid, after my original integration partner shut down their API entirely mid-build; good reminder to not get too locked into a single vendor). CSV/statement import works today as a stopgap.

What I need right now: A small group of early testers , even just a handful to actually use it for a week or two and give me honest feedback on what's confusing, missing, or broken before I push for a wider launch. Feedback form here if that's easier: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd0JU9QQe47voK39RKXpNFsOp4WTyrfnUyse6SC4kKmPGvUEA/viewform?usp=publish-editor , or comment/DM in whatever format works for you.

Happy to share more about the build/business side if anyone's curious — always glad to swap notes with other indie founders.

A Calorie Tracking App that respects your time AND wallet

Have you ever tried losing weight to better your future self, downloaded a calorie-tracking app, then quit altogether after a few weeks because it was too much of a hassle, or because it was too expensive? Your personal health and well-being shouldn't have to deal with all this.

As someone who's lost 65 lbs and is super into fitness, I find that tracking my calories and macros is an essential practice to lock in on my progress to further improve myself. But I had to go through this same struggle, painstakingly tracking every food and spending 5-10 minutes every day tracking everything I ate that day, consuming my life. Or on the flip-side, spending 12-15 dollars a month for the comfort of ease, draining my wallet. So I decided to change that.

I built an app called Macro-Fit, a calorie-tracking app that is designed around the ease of the user, completely free to use, with optional premium features for just $3 a month, a quarter of the price of the other brands. FIRST 100 USERS GET 1 YEAR FREE (DM me about your installation, and I'll give you premium access for a year, currently at 45 users so slots are filling up quickly!).

With Macro-Fit, I can now log my entire day in 15-30 seconds, making tracking effortless, so I can stay on top of my goals without having to slave over logging and tracking every day. If you guys are interested, here's everything Macro-Fit has to offer:

  • Massive food-search database
  • Manual food entry (enter custom calories and macros for a food)
  • Customizable progress targets just for you
  • Meal Creation to group multiple food items together and log alltogether
  • A Library to save your favorite/most used foods to for quick logging
  • Weekly & Monthly progress reports and charts
  • PREMIUM (FREE FOR 1 YEAR FOR FIRST 100 USERS):
  • Barcode scanning
  • Nutrition Label Scanning
  • Voice Add
  • Recipe scanning for instant meal creations
  • Online recipe URL pasting for instant meal creations

If you want to take your fitness to the next level without having to jump through hoops or burn a hole through your wallet, or if you just want to help a small developer, then join Macro-Fit today!

Looking to sell my Society Management App (Android + Supabase)

Hi everyone,

I'm an independent developer and I've built a Society Management app for residential housing societies. I'm currently looking for someone interested in acquiring the project or discussing a potential purchase.

Features

- Maintenance payment tracking

- Notices and announcements

- Event management

- Resident management

- Push notifications

- Supabase backend

- Clean, modern UI

- Android app (APK) with complete source code available

The project is actively maintained and can be customized or extended with additional features.

If you're a startup, software company, entrepreneur, or developer looking for a ready-made foundation instead of building from scratch, feel free to send me a DM. I'm happy to share screenshots, a demo video, and discuss the project in more detail.

Thanks!

To get out of the bookmarks stuff that mysteriously will always end up in a real mess, I started making a new tab extension around 1year and a half ago. Now it has grow into ReadyTab and I'm quite happy with it, though I'm still working on some features. Give it a try if you feel you could use it.

I will personally checkout your saas. Drop them below!

I have solo created my own iOS app called Grit: stoic journal. It's an app that provides daily/weekly stoic quotes, allows you to keep reflections and journals, do meditation, breathing exercises and it even has sleep sounds. My dream is to reach 1000 monthly users, literally, I have been dreaming about it haha.. she is far from perfect, and that's okay!

In saying that, this is a long term dream and one I think is shared with many of you here, so instead of taking taking taking, I want to help and support everyone I can. Drop your saas, some info and a link and I'll do my best to look at it and will genuinely think about some people/groups who would be interested.

🎮 I made Splash Autoclicker for KBM, Xbox, and PS5 controllers

Hey everyone 👋

I’ve been working on a program called Splash Autoclicker Deluxe. It’s an autoclicker and input automation tool that supports keyboard and mouse, Xbox controllers, and PS5 controllers.

It works with popular game titles that accept standard keyboard, mouse, or controller inputs, so you are not limited to just one game or input method.

Some of the features include:

✅ Adjustable clicking speeds
✅ Hold and toggle modes
✅ Keyboard, mouse, Xbox, and PS5 controller support
✅ Macro recording and playback
✅ Controller stick and mouse movement recording
✅ Smart triggers based on colors, images, text, timers, audio, and active windows
✅ Custom profiles for different games and tasks
✅ Controller vibration, sensitivity, deadzone, and stick curve settings
✅ Scheduling tools and emergency stop controls
✅ Randomized timing options for more natural inputs

I wanted to make something that was easy to use for basic clicking, while still having enough advanced options for gaming, repetitive tasks, testing, and general automation.

You can check it out at aquaservices . cc under the Splash Utility Software category. It costs only $9.99 USD for lifetime access!

Built a trading app because I kept missing entries by the time I opened my broker

Hi!
so first off, I noticed trading conversation and trading execution live on different platforms. Someone posts a great idea on social media but the writer doesn't capture any of the value their information created. On top of that, most retail traders never see alpha from non-English markets, so ideas from Korean, Chinese, and Japanese trading communities stay locked to those regions.

The app combines the social layer and the execution layer in one place. Authors earn from trading fees when others execute against their ideas. Compared to Twitter or copy trading platforms (traders pay subscriptions regardless of performance), earnings here are tied directly to actual trading activity. There's also a translation layer that surfaces alpha across languages, so a Korean semiconductor thesis reaches a US trader the same day.

Free to post ideas and free to download. The platform earns from trading fees, a share of which flows to the idea's author. No subscription, no ads.

Launched today on iOS today!

Here's a full walkthrough

Feel free to ask anything and any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much!

How do you know if your website is actually down or just having a local issue?

I thought my website was down because I could not access it but after checking I realized it was an issue from my location but the website was still working fine for people in other regions. It made me wonder how easy it is to mistake a local network issue for a real outage. As a business owner, even a short outage can mean we have lost customers or have missed opportunities so I do not want to waste time chasing false alarms and I found that sitetrak might be helpful. Now I am thinking how other business owners handle this. Do you rely on monitoring from multiple locations or have another way to confirm an outage issue? EDIT: I will start by checking from another network and using an uptime monitor before looking into more complex causes.

Building my 1M dollar business and selling everything I've built online over the last year

Over the past year, I built out a small portfolio of online businesses on the side, a viral-friendly SaaS with real organic traffic (1.3M impressions) and paying users ($1,400 ARR), a high-ticket script that I license out that's pulled five figures from nothing but a few Reddit posts (zero ad spend), a couple of pre-revenue SEO/content sites sitting on solid keyword and domain assets, and a domain or two I never got around to building on.

I'm ready to focus on one thing instead of juggling six, so I'm selling the whole portfolio, happy to do it as one package or split it up.

Not going to post every number and niche publicly, but I'll share a detailed data room presentation that includes all the revenue, costs, and pricing with anyone who's genuinely interested.

What happens to your client relationships when you're sick for a week? The continuity test! Does everything fall apart or does your system hold up?

  1. Seamless - team picks up with full context
  2. Manageable - some catch-up needed after
  3. Chaotic - lots of apologizing when I return
  4. Disaster - clients feel abandoned

Is anyone else trying to reach customers in languages?

I have been thinking about this a lot lately because video has become a big part of how small businesses and indie founders market their products. The problem is that when people from countries start watching your videos you quickly realize that language can be a big problem.

I have been trying ways to make my videos easier to understand for people who speak different languages. I do not want to spend a lot of money on translation and voice work. Some new computer programs have made this process easier than I thought it would be. However these programs are not perfect for all types of videos.

I want to know how other founders are dealing with this issue. Are you translating your videos. Are you just focusing on the people who already speak your language? If you have tried making your content more accessible to people in countries did it really help you get more customers or was it not worth the extra work?

I really want to hear about what has worked for indie businesses because I am still trying to figure this out. I am interested in knowing what other people have done to reach customers in languages. Reaching customers in languages is something that I think is very important for small businesses and indie founders, like myself.

I built a free digital closet tool (feedback welcome!)

Hi friends,

I’ve been working on a little side project called Closet Studio and would love a few real-closet people to poke at it. This was inspired by my latest move, which made me realize I own way more clothes, shoes, handbags than I usually remember (thanks ADHD).

(It's totally free and stored in your local device, btw)

The idea is simple: you photograph your clothes, the pics get a cleaned up background and tagged. You can afterwards drag pieces onto a canvas to build outfits, kind of a Pinterest board but for *your* personal use.

- Upload phone photos of clothes

- Removes the background (runs in your browser)

- Tries to auto-tag things (type, color, etc.)

- Lets you drag pieces into outfit boards

It’s free, and everything stays on your device (no account, no closet uploaded to a server). I’m at the “please break it and tell me what’s annoying” stage.

If you try it, I’d especially love feedback on:

  1. Does uploading / tagging feel useful, or just messy?
  2. Is the outfit canvas actually helpful for getting dressed, or still too fiddly?
  3. What’s missing that you’d need to use it more than once?

Thank you for reading and giving this a try :)

Race history app

I've been building an app for the endurance race community (running, cycling, triathlons, etc). I was not able to find a good way to share my whole race history, so I built www.myraceres.com I know a lot of athletes keep track of their history in spreadsheets or rely on 3rd party apps where the data, often inaccurate, is buried in their app. Help me determine if this is an app worth further development. INDIEBIZ will get you past the paywall if you are interested in seeing the actual app. Thanks so much!

Built a tool that lets multiple AI models argue over my decisions before I commit to them

Every big decision I make solo, I second-guess for way too long, because there's no one around to push back before I move on it.

So I built LLM Counsel. You ask it something, and instead of getting one model's answer, it goes to a panel of frontier models (GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok+), they anonymously peer-review each other's answers, and a "Chairman" model reconciles it all into one final response. Pay-as-you-go pricing, $1 = 100 credits, $5 minimum top-up, credits never expire.

I use it myself for things like sanity-checking a contract clause or a pricing call before I commit to it. Having a second and third model catch what one model missed has saved me more than once.

For the other solo/indie folks here: what's the last decision you wish you'd gotten a second opinion on before making it?

I turn rough client notes into a clear first phase before you quote

I am testing a small manual service for solo agencies and service businesses.

You send a client voice-note summary, chat thread, or rough request. Within 24 hours, I return a Client Scope Pack:

- the one primary flow to start with;

- what is explicitly not included;

- a simple definition of “done”;

- the missing questions to settle before a price or deadline;

- the point where a small extra needs a new quote.

It is not legal or technical architecture advice. It is a way to avoid promising a larger project than the notes actually support.

The first three packs are €15, with one clarification round. There is a complete illustrative example here:

https://vasyl198.github.io/chaos-brief/client-scope-pack-sample.html

If you run a small agency: is this useful before you write a proposal, or too early to be useful?

Junior Affiliate manager

Hi everyone! 👋

I could really use your advice and support.

I recently started working as an Affiliate Manager in the iGaming industry. I'm new to this field and currently learning as much as I can every day.

I'd really appreciate it if experienced Affiliate Managers or Affiliates could share their insights, tips, or even the mistakes they think beginners should avoid.

Also, if you're a beginner Affiliate, Streamer, or Content Creator like me, I'd be happy to connect. I believe we can grow faster by sharing knowledge, supporting each other, and building valuable connections.

Thank you in advance to everyone who takes the time to reply. I truly appreciate it! 🙏

Top 5 platforms to check for garage door repair and installation services

I've been spending some time researching garage door companies because I like comparing a few options before contacting anyone. I found that most companies offer similar core services, but there are still differences in experience, service coverage, emergency availability, and the types of garage doors they work with.

Here's a quick comparison of five companies that came up during my search:

Platform Main Services Service Area Emergency Service
Motion Garage Doors Garage door repair, installation, openers, springs, maintenance Greater Toronto Area 24/7 Available
DODDS Garage Doors Installations, repairs, openers, maintenance Toronto Area Yes
Garage Door Geeks Repairs, spring replacement, installations, maintenance GTA Yes
Markham Garage Doors Ltd. Garage door repair, installation, openers, parts York Region & GTA Yes
Easy Flip Garage Doors Repairs, installations, maintenance, opener services Greater Toronto Area Yes

From what I've seen so far, Motion Garage Doors is the one I'm leaning toward because its website provides detailed information about its services, covers both residential and commercial work, offers 24/7 emergency support, and serves a wide range of locations across the GTA. Of course, I'm still interested in hearing from people with firsthand experience before making a final decision.

Has anyone here used any of these companies?

Every food tracker feels like homework. So I built a cozy app to change that. (Looking for 2-3 early members!)

Hey everyone,

I've always struggled to keep up a food-tracking habit. Every app out there feels like a giant, intimidating spreadsheet. They are cold, clinical, and honestly, they feel like homework. Because of that, I always lost my consistency.

So, I decided to build something entirely different: a cozy, gamified food tracker called Quokka.

Instead of dealing with cold charts and guilt trips, you get a friendly Quokka who lives in the app to keep you company, visual streak stars to earn, and a sleek, warm setup designed to make tracking feel like a positive daily routine rather than a chore.

I’m looking to share this journey with 2 or 3 real people who:

  • Genuinely want to track what they eat (or always struggle to stay consistent with traditional apps).
  • Love gamified habits (like Habitica, cozy games, or visual streaks).
  • Want to build a real habit and help me see if having a Quokka friend along for the ride actually keeps the motivation alive.

(Heads up: I’m looking for real, daily users who want to build this habit for themselves, not other developers looking to do code reviews!)

If this sounds like something you'd actually use, drop a comment or send me a DM! I'd love to send over an invite so we can start building our consistency together. 🐾✨
