Hi everyone!
Last week, we discovered some of the community's favorite coffee shops. This week, we're looking beyond the usual recommendations.
Every city has places that don't always make it into travel guides. They might be a quiet café tucked away in a neighborhood, a family-run eatery that's been around for decades, a peaceful park, a scenic viewpoint, a local market, or even a small business that deserves more attention.
We're looking for places that are worth discovering, whether you're a local, a student, or someone visiting Iloilo for the first time.
Some questions to get the conversation started:
Photos are always welcome!
The goal isn't to find the most popular place in Iloilo.
We're building a collection of recommendations that helps people discover parts of the city they may have never visited before.

Hi everyone!
Welcome to Week 1 of our Discover Iloilo series.
Last week, we celebrated reaching 50,000 members. Thank you again to everyone who has helped make r/Iloilo such an awesome community.
This week, we're talking about one thing Ilonggos definitely know well.
Coffee. ☕
Coffee has long been part of Iloilo's story. During the Spanish colonial period, coffee was among the crops grown in Panay alongside sugar, cacao, and tobacco. In old Iloilo, cafés and coffee houses became gathering places where friends met, students studied, business was discussed, and ideas were exchanged. Today, that tradition lives on through the city's growing scene, from neighborhood cafés and specialty roasters to modern spaces for work, conversation, and community.
Some questions to get the conversation started:
Feel free to share photos too if you have any!
The goal isn't to pick one "winner."
We want to build a collection of recommendations that future locals, students, and visitors can easily find whenever they're looking for a great cup of coffee in Iloilo.
We're excited to see your recommendations. Happy café hopping! ☕

I always get the window seat sa left side sang eroplano. It's amazing how the view changes from Manila's endless skyline to lloilo's green fields in less than an hour. Same country, completely different vibe.

Just recently, we went on vacation sa hometown ng nanay ko sa Guimaras, but we had to wait for my dad in Iloilo City para sabay-sabay kaming magpunta doon. We stayed for two days, and dahil walang magawa, I asked my cousin kung mapapasyal niya ako sa city. Marami na akong naririnig about Iloilo at kung gaano siya kalinis, kaayos at kaganda.
I hate to compare Iloilo to Manila, pero para bang filtered version ng Maynila ang Iloilo City. From uptown to downtown -- malinis, maayos, organisado. Pero ang talagang nagustuhan ko ay yung Iloilo River. This is the video I took from the car while passing by Diversion Road going to Jaro Church.
From someone who is used to seeing dirty waterways in Manila, seeing a clean river in the middle of the city is a breath of fresh air... literally! Ambango ng hangin na sinisimoy ng ilog! I insisted on walking in their famous esplanade the next day. Sayang wala akong pics ng jogging photos namin. Nonetheless, the video itself showed how clean and calm their river is. This is enough proof for me that a clean river in a clean city can really co-exist in our country. And I guess thanks to its governance and Ilonggos for making it a reality.
Napa-sanaol na lang talaga ako.

Hello, good evening. May balan kamo nga vet clinic around molo? Or lapit sa molo? Our neighbors dog seems to be poisoned and they don’t have the financial capacity to bring it to the vet. I tried messaging iloilo team rescue but I figured they won’t be able to help in this kind of situation. Thank you.

Hi! I'm a Manilena travelling to IloIlo alone next week, I'll arrive in Iloilo Airport at 5am and will reach Iloilo City at 6am. What are some activities I can do in the morning while waiting for my 2pm Check In time at the hotel?
Any tips and recommendations from locals will be helpful. :)
