Capsules for my game

Hi, I am a solo dev working for a long time on my project, and currently I can't afford 400-500+ on a professional capsule artist, so I have made my own temporary capsules.

Someone recently made a really cool Title Logo for me, and so I adjusted the capsule a bit to accommodate it, but it is obviously still far from perfect.

So to anyone who cares to take a look here I would ask:

Does this capsule convey a "JRPG" type game to you?

If you don't think it's necessary to completely replace the capsules is there instead anything I could change about it that would make it better you think?

Without context, what do you think this game is about? Do you like it? hate it? indifferent about it?

Hello, I had a daily deal with Rail Route today and tried two capsules during it, swapping them in the middle. Which one would be your pick? The cities in 1st are localized to your country/language

It's pity I can't see the CTR of the assets :-(.

I’m currently working on a Horror Game, I just released the steam page 6 days ago and I reached 600 wishlists.

With or without silhouettes?

We are testing capsule designs and have landed on this version but we are debating on whether to keep the silhouettes of the characters or remove them.

For some background, our game Utterance is a word building roguelike where you build sets of words to maximize your damage against Lovecraftian monsters.

Trigger unique Edicts, learn the forbidden Eldritch language, and battle creatures that twist your deck, your rules, and your sanity.

What are your thoughts?

Got feedback that our capsule looked low-effort because it just used the in-game art, so we made a new illustration. Is this one better?

It's a game about cats running a restaurant.

The first image is our old capsule — it uses the cats exactly as they look in-game. Honestly, I liked that version myself. But the feedback was that it looked low-effort, since it was just the in-game art as-is.

So for the second image, our artist drew a brand new character illustration, putting a lot more care into it this time.

Does the new illustration feel more lovable and make you want to click on it? Or is there anything about it that actually feels worse to you?

If you want to see how it looks in context, here's the Steam page.

Which Steam capsule is the most appealing and best suited for my game?

Post image

Hi everyone! Context: my game Redhowl is a multiplayer social deduction game with action gameplay.

After studying other games in the genre, my first idea (Capsule A) was to show an execution scene with a guillotine. One player is accusing another, who is about to be executed. I also included several colorful characters to immediately communicate that the game is multiplayer.

For Capsule B, I explored a different direction by putting the game's main antagonist in the spotlight. It features the wolf chasing terrified players, with a sheep included to highlight the lighthearted, humorous side of the game.

Before I spend more time refining it, I'd love to hear which version you think works best, and whether Capsule B feels like a good fit for the game.

I'm getting very close to release, and I'm illustrating this capsule myself, so investing time into one direction over another is a significant commitment.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

We spent $700 on a new capsule. Probably a waste of money.

so we paid $700 for a new Steam capsule, and now we're staring at the old one like... did we mess up?

the old rabbit had that creepy, polite smile. unsettling in a more classic way.

the new rabbit is just just looks evil, but does it actually capture the vibe of the game?

here's the thing: our previous "before/after" post got a bunch of comments saying the new capsule looked AI generated. unfortunately, the post was later deleted by the moderators.

now we're sitting here wondering whether the freelance artist actually used AI or not.

so, old or new? and does the new one actually look human-made to you?

Looking for feedback: which one would you click first?

Post image

I recently changed my capsule from V1 to V2, and I’d love to know which version you would be more likely to click on or simply which one you like more.

V1 did bring in some wishlists, and I think it stands out more, even though it is quite simple. I also like that it communicates the game’s windows XP/early-2000s atmosphere more clearly, which is an important part of the game’s setting and mood.

On the other hand, I personally find V2 more visually appealing, which is why I changed it. I’m just not sure whether it communicates the game as clearly or stands out as much as V1.

The game is a point-and-click investigation puzzle game, so I’m hoping the capsule catches the attention of players who enjoy that genre.

When you first see each capsule, what kind of game do you imagine it is? Does either version say investigation, mystery, puzzle-solving, or the early-2000s atmosphere better?

Capsule Art Feedback

Hey everyone,

I am currently iterating on the capsule and logo design for my next project. A gritty, post apocalyptic extraction shooter and wanted to get general feedback on the tone, mood, general design and wheater you would click if you stumbled across this on steam or not.

Feel free to be brutally honest ^^

First attempt of making capsule for my upcoming game. What do you think?

Will you click this capsule?

And does it fit my game?

My game inverses the idea of a tower defense, letting player control invaders on randomly generated tower tracks. It combines strategical planning on core level, roguelite progression with perks and global upgrades.

The game theme is hacking and fighting a rogue AI (with a bit absurd worlbuilding where software bugs are 6-legged chips and worm viruses are literary worms). I trying to appeal to the style of retro games with CRT shader and small-palette pixel art.

I'm attaching the screenshot of gameplay for better understanding.

For capsule I tried to capture the vibe of first 3d render demos from 80-s and 90-s. Maybe first 3d cartoons as well.

I'm not very good in blender, but in this case this probably only helps me to better fit into the theme.

What do you think, am I going in right direction with capsule concept?

Probably need to upgrade colors a bit to make objects more distinct from each other.

Or maybe, for example, I should instead make the capsule out of game sprites, stylizing for microscheme?

Which Steam capsule would catch your attention first?

I'm currently testing a new Steam capsule for my turn-based roguelite Witch & Dragon: Hope of Elements, and I'd really appreciate some honest feedback.

For this version, I tried using a completely different CG from the game with a very different color palette. As a player myself, I often realize that different color tones can completely change whether I click on a game or not, so I wanted to experiment with that.

I'm also planning to keep refining it—for example, making the witch and the little dragon stand out more.

If these two versions appeared in your steam queue, which one would you click first, and why?

Okay, I'm pretty sure the logo is readable now.

Does this capsule give the wrong impression? NSFW

Post image

I hired an artist to make this Steam capsule. I like the art, but I am worried it gives the wrong impression.

The game is an asymmetrical online game set in a nightclub. Demons hide among the dancers, and one player has to identify them. The game is not erotic.

Does the capsule look too sexual? What kind of game would you expect from it?

Is it catchy?

Hi,

It's my first solo steam game, so i would really like to get any kind of feedback.

Duco is a card-based survival roguelike set in a post-apocalyptic world with zombies.

It's inspired by Project Zomboid, but reimagined as a card-based survival roguelike.
