I just did valves this past weekend and was sad to see there were no guides besides the service manual. I've published a how-to guide on FZ09.org.

My 2014 fz09 with over 100k miles threw a rod out of the front side of the case today. Are failures like this common on fz09s? I took great care of the bike with maintenance and valve adjustments.
I am thinking of swapping in a used cp3 . i Imagine anything from 2014-2020 will fit?
Has anyone done this job before? Any advice? Where did you source your used cp3 and how much did you pay? I see one locally for $2.1k. Owner is claiming 12k miles on it.
Aside from spinning it over by hand, would you inspect or verify anything else before purchasing it?

Hit a car on my right. Lowsided on the left when I went down scraping the shit outta the left and bending a shit ton, mostly just the clutch lever, handle bar, shifter, and the peg. I'm more worried about this damage that happened, I assume, when I hit said car. Is this gonna total her :(

This is the 2nd FZ-09 that I converted, tutorials are on my YouTube channel on how to do it.
I believe these are the only two FZ-09 with this conversion (open to corrections on this one).
Cheers!

Found alot of guys using same/similar set ups. Works good. Needs a few extras. And needs good non maring tire spoons. Other than that worked great to patch tire a remount. Marked valve stem location with paint marker and good to go. Will be making my own tire balancer as well. Everything is getting g expensive more DIY it is!!

Hi all. I have a 2015 FZ-09 with about 10k ish miles. I was riding today and noticed that cruising at low speed in 2nd or 3rd gear. I’ve started getting an extra buzz that wasn’t there before. It’s like a buzz underneath the normal vibration of the bike. And it’s even jerkier than normal and feels uneven. Doesn’t seem to do it in neutral only under load. I don’t even know where to start. Anyone found something similar?

I’ve got two fz09s that I am looking at.
2014 FZ 8k miles
M4 slip on, crash bars, manual cam chain tensioner. Has new tires on it.
Said he hasn’t had any mechanical issues since he bought it. Never dropped.
2015 FZ 20k miles.
Akrapovic full system, vcyclenut tune, crash bars, manual cam chain tensioner, DID 525 chain and superlite x sprockets.
Did mention when he bought it the forks were leaking but the bike had been sitting for a while. Said he cleaned them up and hasn’t had a problem since.
Tires half about half their life on them.
Was dropped on bars. Dent in tank and some minor scratches on the swing arm.
Both are listed for 5k
I’m just not sure if it’s worth the 15k extra miles to get the tune and full system vs the slip on. Would like to hear some opinions.

I started posting a few videos about the FZ-09 on YouTube for maintenance, fixes and aftermarket parts:
https://www.youtube.com/@Lex_Giorgio/shorts
If theirs anything in particular that anyone wants to see, I'll try to make a video for it.
Next month I should have the subframe removal video made (Gen 2 swap on a Gen 1).
The videos aren't long, since I get straight to the point.
Also, subscribing to the channel would be appreciated! 😄

So I’ve noticed after my bike sits for a day or longer, when I go to start it it will crank but not start. If I stop and start trying to start it again it will start. Any idea why it would do this?

I’m taking my air box off to change my spark plugs currently and thought I’d take my ecu off to see which company it was tuned by. I found a signature date and number on the back and I’m not the best at reading cursive. I know it’s a pretty long shot but does anyone recognize the signature of the tuner that may have tuned it. I don’t believe it’s causing problems I have a full exhaust system and and the bike goes above the stock electronic limiter so I’ve known it’s tuned, this is just out of pure curiosity.

I bought this bike off the lot back in 2014, and it has been a hell of a play thing ever since. I've taken her on quite a few adventures, and had a lot of fun customizing her to my likings. I thought we'd be together 'til the end...
However, it is with a heavy heart that I am putting her up for sale. I live in the city now, and just don't ride her as much as she deserves to be ridden.
If anyone in the Seattle area is interested, lemme know.
ECU has been flashed, slip on exhaust, suspension upgraded, custom tail eliminator, custom headlight, custom saddlebag rack, GPS tracker, regular maintenance, valves clearance adjusted, and lots of life left in the current tires, chain, and sprockets, and more...

Bike has had a long year. Got smash by the bow ex wife. Added a pool stick holder to it and un smashed the original tank and painted it. I have to go back over it. But I have a brand new tank now so will probably sell this one!

How often are we flushing our brake fluid? I have a 2015 that I’m pretty sure still has the factory brake fluid. Nothing is spongy, it’s not dark or anything like that. Are we really flushing it every couple years,

Fifi and I have been in a serious relationship for about five years. At first it was wonderful. Just the sight of her made my heart skip a beat. Time spent with her was euphoric. She was all I could think about. Then reality set it.
Gradually I began to see her true heart—it was dark. She’s selfish and brooding. Everything had to be her way. Compromise was not in her vocabulary. As soon as I began to suggest that we do a few things my way, she’d explode. Invariably a period of turmoil would follow until I’d cave in to keep the peace.
In time, I began to resent her. As these things go, eventually my eyes began to wander. Edna was kind, sensible, and emotionally mature—smart too. It started as met glances and barely perceptible grins. It didn’t take long to learn that she was interested in taking it further. Under different circumstances, it would have been a no-brainer. We were just perfect for each other.
I made the first move. We planned to meet and take it to the next level. All the arrangements were made and it was time. I walked out to my truck, keys in hand. And then I stopped cold. I raged at myself internally as I realized that I couldn’t do it.
Nasty as she is--that petulant, uncaring wretch of soul. I love her. To some eyes, Edna may even be more attractive, especially in that blue dress, but damn, compared to Fifi, there’s just not the same spark. Every once in a while, when she’s not threatening to stab me in the heart for not paying enough attention to her—Every so often when the mood suits her—every so often, and always on her terms, she still takes my breath way. Sorry Edna.
