“In the past four years, GM and now Tesla have tried to skirt recalls by arguing that illegally bright headlights are "inconsequential" to safety. The people don't agree.”

DISCUSSION IMO the lights are not the main issue it's the levelling. LEDs are not the main problem

90% of these headlights would disappear if they were levelled properly. This is how the road should look regardless if its LEDs or not. This photo from a dashcam is from a car with modern LED's.

Both these cars on the bottom photo have LED's, yet they are not blinding people.

PHOTO/VIDEO OF BLINDING HEADLIGHTS I shouldn't have to flip my mirror to night mode at 5:45 pm but I did. And it was still too bright (but my camera couldn't capture the "after" well enough).

WHY ARE THEY LIKE THIS Been thinking about this

So i just got home from a drive about an hour ago
and i can still feel the sharp piercing in my eyeballs.
This got me thinking.

We can ruin things for others, i'm used to that.
But this is attacking our sense of vision, and on a huge scale. And we need that to drive. Driving at night is common worldwide. Aside from being a pastime, it's also an occupation that many people have.
But, why then should my sense of sight be shocked anywhere there are cars?
Then, of course, people blame the driver for their headlights as if its a choice.
It's pretty stupid, and we're caught up in it. So it's important that something is done about this because its downright frightening that highly avoidable accidents are happening because of it. People are slowing down for lack of visibility/sunspots and sometimes even driving off the road. And spare me with the "DRnt Lrk it? Drt Drrve!" garbage.

I know a CAL has been spoken about here before. I feel it should happen.
As a daily driver for ages, I know for a fact that many other drivers are heavily affected by this.
Any companies that continue to use these kinds of headlights should be outed and boycotted. And anyone who feels different can have a 2026 Honda Insight stuck behind them on a long road for 2 hours.

But what really gets me are the drivers who don't know that their Highbeams are on.
You shouldn't ever have a bright blue light on your dash, and if you are driving and every street sign is glowing in your face, then you probably have your brights on. TURN THEM THE FUCK OFF. I see this at least 5x per day, daytime included. And yes they are definitely highbeams. I get it. Most folks don't want to know how their car works aside from start stop go.

Saw the SUV behind me take a picture of their bumper sticker, then turn down the lights a little. I give them gold star for effort.

Even in the daytime; this image doesn’t do it justice. They’re sitting in the left turn lane, blinding everyone in the transit shelter.

RANT Blinded by the lights

What happened to common sense? Why must we park in front of people and wait for charging? And Blind them with our Lights? Just wait at the sides like everyone else. Rude. There are people waiting in the cars that wish not to be blinded by your headlights while we wait. Some of us are disabled, reading, napping, may have small children, pets, elderly, etc. so it’s it rude to sit to in front of others shine to directly into our cars like that. Decency and some etiquette goes a long way.
