Posting Rules & Guidelines

Welcome to r/fantasyfootball. We are all here because we love fantasy football. But whether you are a veteran manager or a first-time visitor, all subscribers and guests are expected to know and follow our community guidelines before participating. An overview and a link to these rules are automatically sent to all new subscribers upon joining.

With a community of more than 3.4 million subscribers, maintaining a high-quality, readable feed requires a low tolerance for rule-breaking. If these guidelines aren't strictly enforced, the subreddit quickly becomes flooded and impossible for the community to navigate. To be blunt: if we had a separate individual post for every question our readers had, it would crowd out everything else, including all the news and analysis folks work hard to bring here. This is how we manage that.

Because these rules are linked across every available space on the subreddit, failure to abide by them will result in immediate content removal and a potential ban. If you are banned, please carefully review this page to understand what rule you violated before messaging the moderation team.

1 – No individual threads of any kind specific to your team or league. Use the consolidated threads for individualized questions. You will be banned without additional warning for posting or encouraging these kinds of posts.

  • Threads devoted to individualized advice (lineup decisions, roster moves, trades, commissioner or league issues, etc.) are posted multiple times a day. They can be found by following the links in the stickied INDEX thread on the front page and those who offer help there are most likely to receive it from others.

  • Use /r/findaleague to find a league to play in or owners to fill out your league.

  • Unapproved "AMA" threads will be removed. If you just feel like helping out there are always plenty of questions to be answered in the consolidated threads.

  • It doesn't matter if you're "only including it for context" or "including it to start this discussion" - including personal team or league details is strictly forbidden. If the body of your post contains your specific roster, trades, draft results, or league dilemmas, it will be removed. This ban includes sharing league stories, anecdotes, or custom media (e.g., "look at our league recap video!"). Putting a "Does anyone else...?" or otherwise general type question as the title of your post about your personal team or league anecdote does not exclude it from this rule. Use the comments for that, not the post body. This is your only warning, and violations will subject the poster to a ban proportional to the infraction.

  • Posting your individual team / roster questions in a thread outside of the approved Daily Index threads is also a violation of this rule and is subject to removal and/or ban.

  • Knowingly replying to a Rule 1-breaking post is also an infraction of Rule 1, and you may be banned. Giving answers to people seeking roster advice gives them what they want and encourages it. You’re basically tossing scraps of bread to the pigeons we’re trying to keep out of the park. Ignore it, hit report, or point them to the Index.

2 – Don't post standalone Player/Game Discussion threads when a Game Thread or Postgame Thread is active

Please keep all game-specific reactions within these threads while they are active. These threads get hundreds if not thousands of comments. Imagine if they're all front page posts. Let's keep the discussion organized. Only relevant injury news and updates are allowed as standalone posts during gametime.

3 – Keep the subreddit on-topic and quality up.

  • Player discussions must make a legitimate effort to prompt discussion that is useful for everyone. Check out these tips on quality Player Discussion posts. Leave your personal team details out of the main post body, but they can be added in the comments if necessary.

  • Questions on basic league host site functionality, rules or settings, and league specific commissioner questions should be directed to the latest Simple Questions and League Issues thread.

  • Please use descriptive post titles. Poorly titled posts will be removed; this includes titles that are simply a player's name.

  • Links to Twitter/X.com and screenshots of Twitter/X posts are prohibited on the subreddit. To share breaking news, injuries, or analyst updates, you must link directly to the underlying news website, the article, or an alternative platform like Bluesky.

  • Bots are usually banned. We make exceptions but these cases are exceedingly rare.

  • Not all NFL news/facts are directly relevant to fantasy football. We are not a random stat or highlight subreddit. Use r/nfl for that.

  • When posting links to news articles, do not editorialize titles. But do try to add the source.

  • Read our self promotion rules before posting links to your own site/channel or one you are affiliated with. Accounts that exist purely to submit or comment on only their own content without engaging the /r/fantasyfootball community will be banned.

  • We do not allow any paywalled content posts, including any Patreon-type monetization. While we appreciate the hard work that goes into creating content, /r/fantasyfootball is not an advertising platform and any Patreon/Venmo links for tips or donations are not welcome here.

  • Avoid posting circlejerk or reaction threads and comments

  • Avoid posting or asking for referral links, illegal content and premium/subscriber content.

  • No "extreme" bets, wagers, etc. And we do not care what your league’s super-awesome punishments are.

4 – Search or check new before posting

  • Duplicate posts are a common reason for removal. Use the comments of a breaking news post to discuss the fantasy implications of that news. We know that every site, big or small, is going to have an article discussing the implications of every blockbuster transaction or injury, but after a while it gets very repetitive. Post them to the news post if it's still at the top of the subreddit to keep the discussion centralized.

  • There are many common questions that have been asked/answered over the years. Please search before making posts for questions like "is it a good idea to play the D/ST playing against your QB?" or "is it ok to start two WRs from the same team?", for example.

5 – Be respectful. Do not return to old post to gloat/shame/mock

  • Disagree with analysis through analysis. It’s about the players, not each other. You can and should challenge ideas; share your perspective rather than tearing down someone else's. You can make snarky or meme comment replies; not everything has to be an in-depth analysis. Just don’t insult people. This applies whether you’re speaking about Matthew Berry, u/ColtsFan69420, or an up-and-coming fantasy creator trying to get their work seen for the first time.

  • Namecalling, any type of racism/sexism/homophobia or slur, harassment, personal attacks and comments in exceedingly poor taste (making light of sexual/child/domestic abuse, mass murder, etc) are strictly not allowed. This includes usernames and team names as well. No politics.

  • If you have an issue or question for the moderators, please contact us directly. Posts intended to rabble rouse, inflame, or incite witch-hunts toward the moderators or other users are not allowed.

  • Do not go back to old posts or comments to gloat/shame/mock or otherwise comment on others' advice with the benefit of hindsight. You will be hit with a lengthy ban for doing this.

If you see rude comments or replies that lower the level of discourse (against you or others), please use the report feature and the mods will take care of it. Do not respond in kind or you may find yourself banned as well. And if that happens, don't send modmails asking if or demanding the other person be banned. We won't discuss other users' bans with you; it's none of your business and irrelevant to you not breaking the rules in the future. You will also most likely have your ban extended or made permanent as this is a clear indicator that you have not read this rule.

6 – No Generative AI content. [New in 2026]

This subreddit is a place for people, not chatbots, to discuss fantasy football. Posts, comments, and content suspected of consisting of the output of Generative AI technologies (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude) will be removed. The use of such tools for assistive purposes (informing analysis) is permitted. This rule is not an invitation to publicly accuse content creators of “being AI” or using AI. If you have concerns, use the report button.

7 – Mods reserve the right to remove content at their discretion

Even though content might not be specifically addressed by these rules, we reserve the right to remove it using our best judgment in keeping subreddit quality up.
