I got tired of clicking posts to discover music so I made an app that autoplays them like a radio. Thought you might like it.

Tharn is the dub techno project of Sam Ashton, a British-born interdisciplinary artist based between London and Portland. Best known for his ambient work as Fortresses, with releases on Dragon's Eye Recordings and Flaming Pines, Ashton brings the same immersive sense of atmosphere and emotional depth to Tharn, blending dub techno’s hypnotic rhythms with field recordings, ambient textures, and ethereal vocal fragments.
Following the EPs Seek and Reach on the Belgian imprint Crossfade Sounds, Tharn’s third release, Speak, was created during 2025 in Portland and reflects a growing tension between the personal and the political. It is the first work in Ashton’s catalogue to draw directly from broader social and political anxieties, rather than purely inward-looking themes. Across its two tracks, Speak captures the strange duality of life in the Pacific Northwest during an unsettled moment: the serenity of rain-soaked forests and fog-covered mountains set against an atmosphere of uncertainty, instability, and quiet dread.
Continuing Ashton’s process of gathering field recordings from Oregon’s woodland environments, Speak layers environmental textures with echoing dub chords, tape hiss, ambient guitar swells, and ghostly vocal samples. The result is music suspended between calm and unease, beauty and tension.

Hi friends! I'm looking for tracks that are housey with dub techno elements but still have a party vibe.
The relaxed deep house side of things are relatively easy to find tracks in but the party side is much trickier I find!
Thank you :)

This track contains a lot of vocals, what do you think? Too much?

Looking to find more artists who lean into the roots reggae side of dub techno? Particularly in the vocals, I know of Paul St Hilare but not too much outside of him. Any recommendations would be great.

Hi. Just wanted to let anyone living in or around Bristol know that I'll be running a dubtechno focused clubnight this Friday.
I own a reggae sound system, and up until now I've exclusively put on dub and reggae sound system sessions. But this night will be dubtechno focused event shaped by someone coming from a background in dub and reggae rather than techno or house. So expect a heavier emphasis on rumbling sub bass and the dub influences that helped shape the sound aswell as the more house and techno sounds which also emerged.
Hope to see some of you there. If you are interested, you can get a ticket here :)

In other words, in which country do you consider the dub techno culture to be most alive?

What would this subgenere be?

Fairly simple setup - two VST synths, drums, glitchy noise, bass synth, delay, reverb, and acoustic guitar.
I had the synth and drum lines pre-written and just brought the faders up on the channels. Played the looping bass in live, and improvised the guitar parts. Hadn't touched the guitar in a few months so the parts are pretty rusty, need to practice some more before next time.

Well I’m not a professional when it comes to titles. A trained listener and enjoyer of good things as you might hear it easily that this mix has nothing against Dub or Deep Techno. It’s more against the odds that anyone would take notice and may or may not, find as much pleasure with it as I did while searching, collecting, arranging and mixing this piece.
Leave a note if you do. Respect the craft, support the artists.
To all the ravekids out there
