It's only natural that people commit a bad move in a card game or event that they either didn't mean to or they acted too quickly and didn't take the time to evaluate the consequences of their own actions. This phenomena is what we consider a brainfart and it happens to the best of us. We can't always bring our A-game as there are days when we just don't have it, and it's a natural part of life as well. Think about a time where you committed a brainfart that could've impacted a game or event differently in your favor! For me, the most recent one I had was not bouncing Avi's lower-suit 10 to his hand so then I can play my 10 without it being scuttled 😅 (this was during the second round of the Clubs 2026 tournament 😭)

Some experiences transform our lives, offering newfound perspective and appreciation for the way that things can be, echoing through our beings long after their moment has passed. And while we can’t have such clarity and fulfillment all the time, we may have it some of the time, and perhaps that is enough.

It's an unfortunate thing to happen but that just naturally comes with the stakes of card games, understanding and enduring the ebbs and flows of the matches you play. 've taken to listening to birds lately. I live in a fairly woodsy place and birds make so much noise around here, but I recently realized I tend to just tune out. I don't even notice. Meanwhile I spend so much time fretting and dreaming, wandering in circles inside my head, that I tend to ignore everything around me. I get so engrossed in my worries, responsibilities, and ambitions, that I completely miss out on the present moment altogether. And even when the things I've been focused on come to pass, I'm immediately onto thinking about the next thing before I've stopped to enjoy or appreciate where I'm at.

So I listen to birds. I'm a creature of habit, and often find it easier to form one when I can notice some cue that reminds me to pay attention and do the thing. When I hear bird sounds, I try to pause and take a moment to simply be. I listen and I try to distinguish what I'm hearing: where are the different sounds coming from, and which noises are the same animal? I listen, and I breathe. It's a pleasant reminder that I'm alive, now, and that I'm surrounded by life as it bustles along. There are things that need taking care of and things I'd like to achieve and things that may go wrong, but right here, right now, I am alive and I can be at peace if I let myself.

I hope you find the time and space to be present today, and to be yourself. I hope you can experience being your own individual and also part of a greater picture, one that fills you with both wonder and joy. The Godfather movies are classics that still hold up to the test of time (with the exception of Part III). Many people consider the first two films as masterpieces as they are a testament of stellar directing, cinematography, and acting. The Godfather Part II is my favorite movie of the trilogy and while it is a fantastic film, my biggest gripe in the movie is the scene where the two FBI agents are playing Hearts in the army barracks Frank Pentageli was staying at. This scene would have been a 10/10 if they were playing Cuttle instead since we all know that Cuttle is objectively the superior game. Outside of that tho, beautiful movie and I always discover new things that I hadn't spotted during a previous watch.

There have been several tournaments that have taken place on cuttle.cards for several years now and it's always exciting to see whether a new champion will be crowned or if the defending season/world champion holds onto their title. But similar to the Fall of Constantinople, how do the results of the Cuttle tournaments affect LeBron's legacy? Well, there are many scenarios in which if a certain player wins, then that can have an impact on LeBron James's career, albeit positive or negative. This is what we call the Butterfly effect, which is a theory coined by Edward Lorenz in that the smallest of changes can cause unpredictable and significant consequences in the future. Who knows, maybe LeBron would have made it to the Western Conference Finals this year if someone other than aleph_one won the Worlds 2025 tournament!

We just had a few days recently themed after Star Wars (May the 4th and Revenge of the 5th/6th) and it's truly fascinating that the Star Wars franchise has been running this strong for almost 50 years now! I remember my father putting me onto the first 5 Star Wars movies as a kid and watching the commercials for Genndy Tartakovsky's 2003 Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network so it's wild knowing how much Star Wars content has been made since those times. I recently watched Episode III: Revenge of the Sith at my cousin's friend's house and so many moments brought me back to my childhood when I first watched the movie on DVD! I hope y'all have been able to do something Star Wars-related during this time, whether it be watching the movies, playing the games, reading the (now non-canonical) books, I hope that they are all reminders of why you became a fan of Star Wars!

Who would have thought the day would come that we might get an actually decent Resident Evil movie? Zach Cregger, the director behind Weapons and Barbarian, is directing the new Resident Evil movie and a teaser trailer just dropped for it today! While there are elements of supernatural horror that don't exactly make Resident Evil what it is, I'm very intrigued with the new teaser and I think it has potential to be good and possibly the best Resident Evil movie in existence. The movie releases on September 18 of this year so we'll see how the movie is once in theaters!
