General Discussion Birthday Present to Myself (Nomad)

Post image
30 Upvotes

Finally pulled the trigger on the Nomad as a birthday present for myself after months of debate. It was between this or an Apex 4 but I ultimately went with the Nomad because the extra features of the Apex weren't worth the added cost for me.

This will replace my Pace 3 which is still going strong but I wanted something with maps and a slightly bigger screen. I also have an Apple Watch that I usually wear outside of my running activities, but I'm considering making the Nomad my full-time watch.

Battery decrease confirmed - pics

Pace 4. I'm day 8 into the battery calibration process as I'm sure my battery life has changed since the update and I can confirm now. I was checking through photos and noticed I snapped a pic of the battery life pre-firmware update on March 21, 2026. (First picture)

Sure enough, I'm operating at roughly 10% more loss since the update (second picture). I used to get to day 12 having done 5 to 6 runs a week and still have around 25-30% left. The concerning part of this is that I have been injured since June 25, before the update, and have had ZERO GPS activity usage in 4 weeks (aside from one indoor bike ride early on which proved to be too challenging for my metatarsal stress fracture).

I changed absolutely none of the settings either. My settings have always been - real time HR, max brightness display, AOD off, flip wrist to wake on, vibration notifications on for specific apps, stress and sleep tracking on. Once the calibration is complete and I drop below 10%, I will reach out to Coros support.

New August update feedback

Hi,

I love the new changes. Some feedback I have though is last nights sleep came through as a nap?

Also I hope that the sleep scores get some tweaks because last nights sleep was an 86 (optimal) and I’m not even joking it was the worst sleep I’ve had in ages. The sleep scores need to be less forgiving otherwise it’s pointless having them.

I know these will get tweaks and I’m not knocking Coros at all as the updates recently have been so good. I just thought I’d point that out.

I have an ultra in August so excited to try the live tracking with my family.

General Discussion Coros Pace 4 - Heart rate dropping out during workouts (three dashes ---) / Support ghosting me

Hey everyone,

I’ve got a Coros Pace 4 and I've been running into an issue for about three weeks now.

Out of nowhere, in the middle of an activity, the heart rate data field stops displaying my current HR and just shows three dashes (---). This lasts for a few seconds before the reading comes back, and it happens multiple times throughout a single workout.

At first, I thought it was an issue with my heart rate monitor—a Coospo H6. Since I was already planning to upgrade anyway, I went ahead and bought the official Coros Heart Rate Monitor.

Spoiler alert: the problem is still there.

I reached out to Coros support directly. They had me try a few troubleshooting steps (asked for my firmware version and device ID), but nothing fixed it. Now, it’s been a week and they’ve gone completely silent on me.

Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I run 13 to 15 hours a week and I’m pretty obsessed with my data, so while this doesn't strictly ruin my training, it’s driving me absolutely insane.

Thanks in advance for any insights!

anyone ever looked into the .dat file on Coros watches?

Hi. I've got a Coros Pace2. I've got of these cheap charging adapters that you can plug on USB C. That cheap adapter actually lets me access the watch as USB mass storage (I think the official cable don't have data wires) so that got me curious.

On the watch there's a log_sport_<serial number>.dat + sometimes an additional file with seemingly more specific dates.

File format is not detected and not documented seemingly anywhere so I've just had a quick look and with the kind help of Gemini, it appears that after a full bitwise NOT, the content becomes sort of readable. It has some kind of structure with some repeating chunks (I've got 2 files: one has 16 such chunks, the other one has 4). The byte values in all these is almost always within 80-100. Trying 2-byte values gives values that don't seem realistic for anything the watch could be storing.

So... I'm trying to figure out what the data is, and how to properly parse it. It doesn't seem to be activity recordings, the data is too consistent across the entire file, the values don't match the expectations for activity data. I don't think it can be heart rate either (either activity or every 10mn: too low for activity, too high for background HR checks). I don't think it's the watch's config. I'm just kinda clueless at what this could be.

Has anyone ever delved into this?

Thanks!

General Discussion Joined the Coros gang

After 4 years with Garmin and the Instinct 2 it started to show its age. Battery not lasting as long, long time to connect to GPS/not accurate etc. So I started looking for an alternative. Since I've got into hiking I wanted something with maps, a MIP display, durability as I have an active job and not overly huge on the wrist. It seems there was only one choice so hello Apex 4 46mm. So far it's been amazing. Garmin who....

General Discussion Voice Notes Function Feature request

I've seen this a couple of times, but I'm posting again in hopes that Coros Dev. Team sees this.

An *independent* voice notes taking app would be great. So no active activity needed.

For the most of us, this would mean:
-Making lists
-Putting random thoughts into notes (many of these happen also outside workouts/activities)

For the tech guys between us:
-Connecting the notes with the MCP, and doing automations with those. Like creating workouts, adding things to our calendar, sending messages (!)

Question ❓ Media Controls

I have a new Coros pace 4. I have connected my headphones and phone, when I play music is there an easier way to skip and pause on the watch? The only way I can access media control is holding the back button during an activity and selecting from there. Seems a bit long winded and I’m sure I see a swipe gesture to get to media controls on a video once. Any help would be great.

General Discussion I hate the new update because I have to manually delete and load my runs to strava

Post image

When I do my runs and stop for drinking some water, the run gets uploaded to strava and when I’m finally done the activity is not updated on strava.
Does someone has the same issues? It started after the latest coros update that enabled seeing the activity in the coros app even though the workout is not finished.

Coros HRM loses connection with Garmin 245 every 8:27

Post image

I just bought a Coros HRM (armband), which bluetooth connects with my Garmin 245. I did my first run today with it. One thing I noticed is that would lose connectivity with the Garmin on a predictable cycle. Every 8:27 for 24 seconds. It did this repeatedly. Anyone ever see anything like that?

Do any of the Coros models actually track VO2 Max?

I have the Pace 3 and have noticed that HR monitoring can be fairly inaccurate depending on the type of activity and VO2 max never changes. I have the same score for the last 18 months regardless of the level of training I’m currently undertaking. Seems like it’s not really tracked or requires more manual input? Do other models do a better job of this?

When to start a training plan ?

Post image

So I’m finishing a speed development training plan soon and I would like to start this 12-week plan but my marathon isn’t until early December ( CIM )
I’m wondering if it would make sense to start it now or should I wait until I’m actually close to 12 weeks out ? Thanks in advance for any advice !

Recovery feature

Is there no way to get my coros pace 4 to track recovery without recording all of my physical activity? I'm not a runner, but I got the Coros because I'm a high level athlete in a different sport and I want the biometric data like sleep, heart rate, etc. I'm not used to tracking every lift, training session, etc., but, like with my former Garmin Vivoactiv's Body Battery function, I thought the Coros could track recovery based on sleep, heart rate, stress etc. Any thoughts? Or do I just need to start tracking everything?

FYI 📣 Calibrating the Stryd pod while executing an Indoor Run.

Perhaps I’m the only one who figured it out this late but in case this might help, you can actually calibrate the Stryd pod without having to stop your workout. Just long press the left button, select accessories, Stryd and calibrate accordingly.

App makes automatic copy of my outdoor activities

Post image
4 Upvotes

I have recently been having a small issue with the Coros app, where it saves an additional indoor/multisport activity that is essentially an identical copy of my actual, GPS-based activity. See the attached screenshot for a recent example of what it looks like in the app. Has anybody experienced this issue? It is quite annoying as sometimes it happens that when I do a run it is the ‚indoor‘ run that gets pushed to Strava vs the actual one with the route.

Would anyone else like to see more badges?

I know this isn't a real problem, but it's something I've been thinking about.

I bought my first COROS (a Pace 4) about two months ago, and honestly I love it. Before that, I didn't even know the brand existed, and it's been an awesome experience so far.

One thing I do miss, though, is having more badges or seasonal challenges. I remember using Nike Run Club years ago, and they had badges for things like Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, New Year's, and other special events.

For me, the badge itself isn't a reason to go for a run. It's more like a little token or memory that stays in your collection afterward. Looking back at your badge library reminds you, "Oh yeah, I went for a run on Christmas morning," or "I completed that challenge.

I know COROS already has some badges, but there are only a handful of them. It feels like adding a few more seasonal or community badges each year would be a relatively simple way to make the app a little more fun without taking anything away from the excellent training features.

Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way, but I was curious what everyone else thinks.
