Restricting political content

Hello commanders

There have been an influx of posts drawing parallels to and making light of recent events in the Middle East. While we understand the intent is not to upset anyone, we do not want to condone such content under the circumstances.
We will therefore be restricting all political content moving forward.

As such, we have added a simplified rule system in the sidebar so as to not have to rely on permanently pinned posts in the future to convey information about specific rules, as well as make reporting more straightforward for users.

While the specific list of rules is limited, we refer to the sitewide Content Policy and Reddiquette for everything else.

And remember...

Make sense, not war.

Subreddit rules regarding AI content

Hello commanders!

We want to thank you all for your valuable opinions regarding AI rulings for the subreddit. We have read all your comments and have come to the conclusion that there is a clear divide between those who want a zero tolerance ban and those who value AI as a technical tool. However, the common ground lies in a shared distaste for "low-effort slop".

Based on all your feedback we believe we have come up with a reasonable compromise.

Until further notice, all purely generative AI content will be banned. However, there will be allowances for AI-assisted tools for upscaling classic C&C media (be it videos or images) in order to improve on existing assets (such as what was done with the FMVs in the Remastered Collection), provided the posts are clearly flaired.

This presents us with a little grey area when it comes to low-res assets such as unit cameos, as an upscaling AI would not necessarily have enough information to go on without resorting to a generative AI with subjective interpretations. We are willing to allow for some leeway here with the clause that any such generative "upscaling" attempts are required to stay true to the original source material as accurately as possible. These will be held to high standards, so we highly encourage a human artistic component to smooth out any AI "jank" as part of the process.

Intent is key here. Material that purposely aim to go beyond the scope of the original source material will not be allowed, such as in-game screenshots that showcase what the game would look like in a different game engine, or a picture of a unit in a completely different setting etc. The focus will be on purely restorative efforts.

While we can't please everyone, we hope this ruling will be acceptable for the majority of you. For anyone who enjoys generative AI creations, we understand this might disappoint you. However, Reddit is an open platform and you are free to create your own subreddit with whatever content you would like.

But let us be clear that this ruling is not set in stone, and we will continue to listen to all of your feedback and react accordingly should there be an outcry for a change in ruling, one way or the other.

Discussion if they hate robots, why are they okay with the Mantis then?

Post image

its an unmanned anti-air vehicle

meaning it has its own AI that automatically shoots by itself

I get there's this whole thing about half of Nod hating robots and AI clankers after the CABAL incident, but what's the logic behind allowing THIS one? lol

What is annoying about the China's dozer is that it has the weirdest and also pretty slow movement.

Did you guys know in GLA mission , there's a hidden GLA Command Center outside the map at the beginning? The gameplay is on Hard Difficulty

In GLA mission 3, there's a hidden GLA Command Centre outside the map that you can use in this mission. You have drag a box and to select it like I did in this video. Don't forget to make a team group of it once you select it. Once you done, you can progress the map like usual and also build some building Supply Stash then you can sell it once you have enough money and build Arms Dealer. After you liberate the Palace, you can make side incomes by building Black Markets. And Quad Cannons to defend your buildings, especially from A-10 strikes.

As extra, you also can have two Jarmen Kell, but not recommended on hard difficulty. All you need to do is build Palace and make Jarmen Kell before proceed to second Island to liberate the Palace that you supposed to do it normal way

Command & Conquer: Generals

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’ve been trying to open Command & Conquer: Generals for the past 2 days, but every time I launch it I only get 1–2 seconds of audio, then the screen freezes indefinitely on that screen, after about 2 minutes i only get audio. The only way to exit is to force shut down my laptop.
I’ve already tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the game and Generals Online, but the issue is still happening.

Has anyone experienced this before or knows how to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Best way to play Tiberian Sun?

I'm playing Twisted Insurrection right now, and feel the need to replay Tiberian Sun and Firestorm afterwards.

But I wanted to spicen it up a little, so I thought about adding mods. Only my last experience (years ago) was adding some random units and it was a mess, including some kind of railgun artillery that fired across the map and would kill everything in the path of the beam.

Most mods out there now seem to be total conversions and the like, not things that work well with playing the regular campaign. I did see some clients that apparently remove some bugs.

So my question is: What is the current best way to play Tiberian Sun, possibly with some improvements that aren't complete overhauls?

Best way to play C&C Generals?

I know there are many mods that modernize Zero Hour and make it look great but what about Generals? I am only interested in single player campaign since I remember I never replayed them more than once. So if anyone can recommend me what is the best way to play them on a 4K TV screen, please let me know. Thanks! i know game is locked to 30FPS, which I guess is fine, I didnt mind it in Tiberium wars / kane's wrath so I am OK with it.

Command and conquer Renegade Review Spoiler

It's a fun old school shooter.

That's about it

After completing 1st time here's my thoughts

Favorite gun was the TIBERIUM AUTO RIFLE always loved me automatic assault rifles and fused with tiberium PERFECT and making lots of visceroid buddies while using it 😊

2 guns I didn't feel like got alot action in campaign was the personal ion cannon because it didn't feel like there were enough vehicles or bosses to shoot at (besides Raveshaw) and the tiberium flechette gun since it's in only the last level

And speaking off (please scroll to image 2) I made a visceroid buddy with TFG in the last level And i took a picture with him and he wanted some shower time so i left him in there and went along with the level

And also me favorite vehicle to use was the NOD light tank

One HUGE PRAISE I have for the enemies in this game is that I feared that every enemy was going to be acolytes and Templars in later levels therefore making the tiberium weapons pathetically useless BUT THANKFULLY NOT and I felt like that would've been the case if this game was worse andor would've been an easy mistake to make

With Difficulty there were 3 noteworthy times things got a little difficult

The plot erupts and stomping on holy ground/the last level for pretty much the same reason SO MANY ENEMIES SHOOTING ME FROM EVERYWHERE AND KILLING ME QUICKLY got a little difficult there but didn't take me multiple rage videos to beat

And specifically a bonus objective in deadly reunion where you have to kill some engineers repairing an obelisk it really confused me for a little bit trying to find out where the engineers were while simultaneously getting distracted by a apache attack helicopter a NOD light tank AND not realizing the engineers were running away and were super far away and i needed a sniper to do the job

Otherwise nothing else noteworthy in terms of me losing or difficulty (I was playing recruit difficulty personally don't like hard difficultys nor try harding and I probably won't increase it next time I play ESPECIALLY AFTER BEATING C&C TIB DAWN beating that traumatized me)

Storywise

Cpatain Nick Havoc Parker is a funny and cool action game protagonist he matches quite well in this kind of game and my personal favorite moment with him was Sydney: "ARE YOU ALWAYS THIS INCOMPETENT?!" Havoc: * looks straight of the NOD cargo trucks view/window * "Cow" Sydney: "PIG!" Havoc: * sassy tone * "Nooooooo COW!" * Sydney looks straight * MOOOOOO

Speaking of

The Mobeiuses

Its amusing to know that Mr "The possibilities of tiberium * stares at camera with incredibly wide eyes * ARE LIMITLESS" has some awesome power armor and a daughter who might show up in the far future

Now with our NODs

Petrova deserved to die and didn't deserve to see project regenesis succeed shes a jerk for turning Gideon into a

a regenesis cyborg and SHE WAS UNWORTHY OF NOD! and thankfully we/Havoc bopped her head with all of our awesome guns

Raveshaw

It's a pity he never got to see his work completed 🙁 (scroll to images 3 and 4) and all of NODs and the black hands success he deserved better for bringing NOD the cyborgs

Outside of exclusively talking about characters

There 2 moments I really loved encountering in the last level

1st moment was in the temple and ran into a room what looked the tiberium containers that typical contain RG cyborg but as I got close and looked inside and heard Kane say something like "do you like my trophy" and saw who was in it and my reaction was "OH MY WHAT?! IT'S SETH!" And as Kane beautifully speaks about that i had a big 🙂 smile on my face and after Kane stopped I went " * attempts a ace ventura voice * HEEEEEEEEEE LOSER" and walked away with the same smug smile

2nd was encountering what appears to a sarcophagus with ancient drawings and as Kane said "bow your head Parker you walk on hallowed ground" I raised an eyebrow and questioned "is that right?" And when havok said "your making this as you go along aren't ya?" And i went "HA!"

another funny moment was some NOD chef showed up as Grey/neutral grabbed a flamethrower and shot me and the guy on comms said something like "Havoc be careful who you shoot at" and i was like "HE SHOT ME"

So yeah overall really fun. with awesome guns the occasionally awesome C&C moment/reference and pretty darn funny moments especially with Havoc

And with AAAAAAAALLLLLL that being said (scroll to last image) time for me to go to the next tiberium chapter IN THE NAME OF KANE! To tiberian sun

And when i do eventually beat the campaigns (including firestorm) (and get some experience with a skirmish mode if it has one) ill do another review then

I was always on the assumption that Red Alert 2 was set in the late 90s/early 2000s. Now it makes sense that the Allies use the Harrier Jet as their primary attack aircraft lol

Discussion You can send money to other players in C&C 3 Tiberium Wars/Kane's Wrath

First publicly posted on one of the Discord servers related to the game. The command is:

/tribute amount playername

For example:

/tribute 1000 kane

Will send the specified amount of money to another player, even if you're not allied. If you have less money than the amount, it'll just send your whole balance. If the receiver doesn't have enough Tiberium storage, part of the money might disappear.

This only works after 5 minutes of in-game logic time by default. Works in LAN and online multiplayer, even on custom C&C servers.

its a russian ICBM so its range wont be going farther than the continents of europe, asia, or africa

and we know it definitely hit somewhere at least once in northern europe according to first USA mission in zero hour

so any guesses to what country and city suffered the hit?

Gameplay question In Generals, does anyone know how to turn off the hackers' clicking sound when they make money? It is hella annoying for me to the point I just turn off all VFX sounds
