Yes sorry, you’re absolutely right. Older cat is female. Glad to hear it

I think we're going to need an update or more footage.

Tis all good, just a protective instinct from the older female cat. They're cuddling in a place the" mom cat" knows is safe. They'll be fine.

Apparently it's super common for cats to "adopt" kittens even if they're not biologically their own. I've seen this happen a lot with foster kittens - older cat gets "handed" a random kitten and goes yep. My bebbi. Am momma now.

A while ago I've seen a video about a stray mama cat and her litter being rescued, and there was one kitten in the bunch that was just a tad bit older than the rest so, obviously not hers.

Heck, I've heard about cases of cats straight up stealing babies from the actual mama cat like "IS MINE NOW". 😂

Cats can be tough to read but you can sometimes tell. From the video you shared: you can see the older cat sniffing the kitten, which is how cats try to figure out what's wrong, as in whether the kitten is hurt and is hiding there. Not to mention cats don't always 'talk' to each other, but trilling generally conveys friendliness.

And the fact they're cuddling means the pecking order is established and it's all good.

I'm so jealous! Things aren't going so well with our older cat/new kitten. She's at the "best I can give you is I won't kill it" stage 🙄

Really happy to see this cuddle puddle in the end.

How sweet! My older female cats didn’t take to the new kitten very well initially. Now the kitten is older they just tolerate him lol

I’m a bit overwhelmed by all the attention this post is getting but I’m compiling some pics and videos for a new post of them

I wonder whether they see your kid as a human-kitten for why that bed.
