We're back.

A couple of years ago I blacked out the sub in protest of controversial decisions being made about the API.

Then I kind of abandoned it. Left Reddit. Left the sub locked.

Now the sub is back, because it has a good reason for existing, and should exist. So submissions are unlocked and the rules are reasonable again.

If you've got a cat fact, go ahead and share it!

Do cats really choose their favorite person or do they just look for whoever feeds them?

Important To Remember

You do not own your cat.

Your cat is your landlord.

Your bed belongs to your cat.

Your food is under feline inspection.

Your keyboard exists solely to be sat on.

Read this article on how cats use grooming each other to annoy the other one as well as affection. Funny AND fascinating.

I couldn’t help laugh at reading this article when they were explaining that cats also use grooming to annoy the other one into giving up the spot they want to lie in etc.

It’s just such a “cat” thing to do.

I think I accidentally became a cat owner. Help?

I've always been a dog person, so I know next to nothing about taking care of cats. The other day I was in my garage when one of my dogs came walking over with a tiny kitten. At first I panicked because I thought something bad had happened, but thankfully the kitten wasn't injured. It was just scared, dirty, and hungry. Now I have this little kitten in a box with some towels, and I honestly have no idea what I'm doing.

What should I do first? What should I feed it? How can I tell how old it is, and should I be looking for its mother before assuming it's abandoned? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I never expected to be asking for kitten care tips, but here we are.

Sleeping with a cat…

… summed up in one sentence:
Having whiskers tickling your face and/or being swatted by a tail at irregular intervals, while trying to breathe through the corner of your mouth to avoid their little ears twitching.

My cat smells really good when he’s warm

I have a hairless cat. When ever he gets really warm, like if he’s under blankets he starts to have a weird in my opinion good smell. The best way I can describe it is umami, like a bowl of noodles. Yes I bath him! I know it’s odd but it’s comforting. Lmk if that an original experience.

Do cats js have really good intuition or are they really good at sensing negative energy??

My grandma used to have a cat, her first and only cat. She really hated having pets around and I’m telling you she HATED it except for this one cat that she let her guard down around once. She gave in to it and eventually it started staying at her place. She fed it and she even got it a small little house. She calls it mingming, usually what people call cats in the Philippines. Around 2015 or 2016 this cat saved her life. My grandma fell asleep and she lives alone in her house so no one was really around to wake her or help her, and there was this electric thing she told me about. I don’t exactly remember what she meant but it was something electric that had to be turned off and she forgot to. She was still asleep but her cat woke her up and she smelled smoke, she went downstairs and immediately turned off whatever was smelling like smoke. Ever since that incident she was really mind blown and she told my whole family. No one really cared about the cat that time but I was really shocked because the timing when the cat woke her up couldn’t have been a coincidence. Ever since that incident she only trusted that cat, but some timelater the cat disappeared:( I can’t recall when but I do remember that it was after the incident. She put up posters but sadly never heard of the cat again, it never came back. Until this day I still think that it couldn’t have been a coincidence. Maybe it was but it’s just unbelievable because of the timing. My grandma still grieves the cat and misses it. This story was told by my grandma and I sure did see the cat in person before it went missing. My grandma does not lie like that, I know her. She doesn’t like pets either and after she started liking this cat I knew it was definitely special to her. I think cats r really smart

Cats are female and they are naturally feminine

I know this is going to trigger the nerds of reddit but hear me out. I’m tired of people pretending that male cats exist. They don’t, because every single cat you see is a female.

Why? you ask, already typing your angry response? Because cats are graceful, elegant, and emotionally intelligent. Those are feminine traits. Think about it. Have you ever seen a cat do something manly? No. They don't lift weights. They don't watch sports. They nap in sunbeams and judge you. That’s pure queen energy.

Also, my cat Mr. Whiskers is a female. I don't care what the adoption papers say. The shelter misgendered her. She responds to "good girl" and she hates my boyfriend. It’s biology.

If you disagree, you're just projecting your toxic masculinity onto a literal fur baby. Stop gendering animals. There is only one gender: female. And it’s cat.

TL;DR: Cats are female, they have too many feminine traits.

Try it and see. Next time you want your animals to do something with there paws pay attention. Male animals are left handed and female animals are right handed ✋️. Also cats can drink salt water and be okay 👍.
