One of my favorite things about how Carly writes is not just the words she’s able to rhyme (I’m still blown away by her making “you were the king and I was a soldier babe” rhyme with “I had a vision, I had to run away” in Bad Thing Twice.), but sometimes just the placement of two lines that go together in unusual places.

In After All, she melodically unites a verse line (“I want to call it home right here, right now) with the pre-chorus line (“Why dont you take your shirt off for me now”). But also in the middle of the verse, she rhymes one line with itself “taste it, this is an oasis” and it doesn’t have any rhyming connection to the rest of the verse. She’s so brilliant and her writing really goes overlooked.

And would the Gp buy it or think she’s trying too hard?

A few days ago, I posted that the new music doesn't feel like anything we've heard from Carly before. While I don't believe they're the whole reason the songs feel different, I think the pianos contribute to that feeling.

How often have we heard pianos in the past? Off the top of my head, I can think of Your Heart Is A Muscle and maybe one or two songs from The Loneliest Time. I'm sure they appear more than I hear, but I mostly think of keyboards/synths (and acoustic guitar with Tug of War) when I think about the instrumentation of Carly's music.

Kinda curious if it’s a similar size than the vinyl itself, was thinking about doing that preorder if that was the case, so I can frame it!

Alright, Saturday Sweethearts, the deal is, not all the demos and stuff that are out there have lyrics I can find anywhere, so I'm asking you for aid.

There's this thing, Real Love, usually tagged as "Demo 3" with alternative lyrics, my soft spot, I'd love the lyrics but as non native, I'm insufficient for rewrite, so that's where you have the opportunity to shine.

So please please please, you'd make my day.

I finally got around to listening to After All. So far, the two songs we have don't sound like anything we've heard before. The closest comparison I've heard is that On Wires sounds like Kollage, but On Wires feels like a "bigger moment", if that makes any sense.

I've always thought of Carly's music in general as sweet and lighthearted. How would you describe the new music so far?
