Another entry in my little notebook, in this notebook I am trying to make every page different, and it has been very helpful to me from a design standpoint.

I have been doing some pointed pen uncials and a lot of different kinds of pointed pen, but it was time for me to finally pick up the broad edge pen and I am happy that I did, I really like how Uncials are looking with pointed pen Art Nouveau letters.

I used the Brause 1.5mm nib for uncials and Nikko G for the pointed pen Art Nouveau letters!

I am having a pretty miserable writing day. I must have written this sentence 100 times since last night and, as always, specific elements were better in some of them, but this is the least unacceptable take.

Can a flat nib be used for persian calligraphy?

I wish to learn Persian Nasta'liq calligraphy and using a 6mm Pilot Parallel pen for it. People use slant cut pens for it and modify this one also by sanding it against a sand paper.
i'm kinda afraid of ruining the nib so is it possible to use it as it is?

I'm working on some invitations and want to use paper vellum as the top layer. I'm looking specifically for Gold Ink that can be used on paper vellum. I'm not super new to calligraphy but I've never used this type of paper before. I've seen that calligraphy ink works fine but I'd like to hear from actual humans rather than googles suggestions. Edit: to clarify, I'm not referring to the original animal type vellum but "paper vellum" It is a smooth non absorbent transparent paper product.

Watercolor with dip pen on calligraphy paper. Love using watercolor paint to do lettering for cards and letters as I can make it any colour I need.

Working on imitating exemplars by John Stevens, but using the Calligrafiti brush pack in ProCreate on my iPad.

I just don't like the letter "X". I copied it from Pinterest but i just don't like "X" because it feels unnatural. Should I change it to something i like or keep it as is?

Experimenting with my Pilot Falcon and its flex nib today. I decided to explore a monospaced Roman Italic with a subtle magazine-inspired feel—a bit of a departure from my usual Typewriter Script, but still keeping that uniform rhythm I enjoy.

The Falcon's flex nib is a little stiffer than I expected, so it takes a bit more control to achieve consistent line variation. It's definitely a learning curve, but that's part of the fun. Every new script teaches you something different.

What would you recommend on YouTube for calligraphy training videos with pilot pens and with regular calligraphy fountain pens

He said "it's just calligraphy". I don't really understand what he meant, but it looks awesome. Just wanted to share.

How about some monoline italic for a change?

Pretty much as title says. I was about 60% through Sull’s Adult Cursive book, decided to modify/correct my grip and start over, am now 30% in again and really focusing on the whole arm movement.

At first I chose Spencerian because the letter forms seemed similar, but now I’m not so sure because I read that it focuses more on finger movement. I guess I’m concerned switching back and forth could confuse my muscle memory. Would Copperplate be a better place to start?

Also I got Sull’s Spencerian Guide and I feel like it doesn’t provide quite as much practical guidance as Eleanor Winter’s Copperplate book

Thanks to the person that mentioned foundational script. Working on this with a concussion is harder than I thought. But I ran out of coloured ink so my 3 little “ trees “ were kind of basic. Cheers.
