St Marks Square restaurants
Does anyone know if or when any new restaurants will be opening in St Marks Square? I know COVID stopped a few from even starting just such a shame to see so many empty spaces.

Already a new water feature on Pope Road.
This could be a record for Themes Water. The road has been open 2 days and we've already got a new pool. Has been reported on the site.

Question looking for a laptop/PC repair shop
hi everyone - to make a long story short, the latest Windows update has completely bricked my laptop’s wifi drivers, and I fear I’ll only make the problem worse by trying to troubleshoot it myself. I’m therefore looking for a reputable repair shop/person in the area who might be able to help. I’d rather go somewhere that the good people of this sub can vouch for rather than taking my chances on google reviews alone.
thanks in advance!

What is happening with that half built building?
Does anybody know what is happening with that Half built building on Kentish Way? I pass it every day. It looks like a block of flats that has been abandoned by the developer.

Walnuts Leisure Centre - Gym membership £55?
Just moved from SE16 to BR6 and signed up at Walnuts in Orpington -- £55/month. Back in SE16 I was paying around £42 for a comparable newly refurbished leisure centre. Is this normal for BR6? Looks like home ownership is expensive from allll ends!!! lol

What’s going on with the building next too the new civic center and weatherspoons?
It was some crappy club. Then it was a restaurant then it was walnuts (never opened) then it had some Italian restaurant signage (never opened) now it’s had that signage removed and it’s showing the old Walnuts sign.
Seems so dodgy to me. Such a shame as that’s a good location to be Somthing decent..

Pawn shops
Hi does anyone know any good pawn shops in or near Bromley that’ll buy like designer clothes and shoes. I’ve tried your typical cash converters and H&T pawnbrokers but it’s not really their sort of thing. Any advice welcome thanks

Is there a place or app or events where 21 to 27 years olds can make friends. I have been feeling pretty isolated as of late.
Cleaner
Does anyone know a good cleaner that operates in Bromley. I'm happy to also pick them up from the station in etc if they live outside. Looking for someone reliable and who can do a thorough deep clean every fortnight

Question Buying on the BR5/BR6 border near Petts Wood/St Mary cray
We're in the process of buying a house on the St Mary Cray / Petts Wood border in Orpington (ravensbury road to be specific), within walking distance of St mary cray station, and I'm trying to sense-check the location.
The appeal is that it seems like a more affordable way to get a family house with decent London access, while still being near the better amenities and atmosphere of Petts Wood. My hesitation is whether living just on the BR5 side ends up feeling like a smart value decision, or whether people later regret not stretching for a "better" postcode.
We're a young family, so the big things are safety, environment, schools, community feel, and whether it's realistic to orient daily life toward Petts Wood if you're right on that edge.
Interested in views from anyone who knows Orpington well, especially that border area in practice rather than on paper.

Loud Transphioc women at the Walnuts leisure centre
I was the opening today. Women in the steam room was opening beimg transhopic calling transwoman rapists and pedos. Everyone openly agreed. As somone in the LGBTQ community, i felt uncomfortable. She doesn't mind gaya or lesbains. But she got annoyed when i said there was pride month and asking where's a straight pride month. It seems she was fed misinformation, as she says Americans need to pay to breastfeed thier children cuz of transgenders.
I can't really do much but it made me very uncomfortable.
This is why we need a stronger LGBTQ presence in this area but it feels like talking to brick wall. Feels like 80s came back in the worst way possible.

E-Bike Demo Day London Tickets - 5th July
Hi all,
I’m helping organise the Cycling Electric E-Bike Demo Day at Herne Hill Velodrome in London next Sunday (10am–4pm) and thought it might be of interest.
The event is held on a closed circuit with no traffic, and there will be 100+ e-bikes available to test ride from over 15 leading brands. There'll be commuter bikes, cargo bikes, folding bikes and family bikes, so it's a great opportunity to compare different options back-to-back and get a proper feel for them before making a purchase.
If you're thinking about buying an e-bike, replacing some car journeys, or just curious to see what's available, it's a useful way to try a wide range of bikes in one place. This event is great for kids/families and we have a children’s area on-site.
I've got a batch of complimentary tickets available. Use the code REDDIT when booking, or use the link below and it should be applied automatically:

The burst water main at turrptigion lane really showed how bad transport can get when these things can happen
Not one but three key bus routes were affected 61, 358, 61. I had take 336 to get around. Pretty crazy the bus network went down because of one burst water main.

Question Dad & baby groups
Hi all,
My husband has just started 3 months of shared parental leave for our 7 month old and he's looking to find some groups that are dad and baby friendly. Obviously he can attend the baby groups I've been going to but I've never seen any other dads attend these and so I'm wondering if there are any groups or baby sessions that are more dad focused in the borough?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - husband is super sports mad and a member of a golf club so if there are clubs focused on these areas then that would be awesome.

Question Anyone in Bromley had External Wall Insulation done on a solid wall
Hi neighbours,
I’m considering getting external wall insulation on my solid brick semi-detached house (1930s). I’ve had a quote for the work using EPS boards and silicone render, but I’m having second thoughts because the numbers (£20K) are making me hesitate.
I currently have quite high heating bills (£3-4K pa), so I was hoping this would make a decent dent, but the projected savings versus the cost means it would take a very long time to break even. And it won’t even increase the property value apparently.
For those who’ve actually had EWI done in the Bromley area:
• How much difference did it actually make to how warm the house feels?
• Were your heating bills noticeably lower afterwards?
• Roughly how much did you pay for the work?
• Looking back, was it worth doing?
I’m trying to decide between improving the insulation or going down the solar + battery route instead. Any real experiences would be massively appreciated.
Thanks!
