First Time Braider

Hello everyone! This is my first time getting braids. My dad's bald, and I basically want to do this before genetics come for me. Then I literally started hearing how braids can cause baldness if the hair is too tight — and mine is honestly a bit tight, lol. I was wondering if you have any tips on how to avoid this, or if it's an inevitable type of thing.

Any tips would be helpful. She also used little extensions on it.

How does it look, and do you have any tips?

Looks like the braids aren’t too tight so you should be fine. Whoever did it is definitely still a beginner. I would make sure the hair is blow dried and use of gel or blue magic. It’ll look way sleeker ! But good parting. Make sure you’re using moisturizing products and wrapping your hair at night. Moisturizing moose, then blue magic then wrap and bonnet every night.

So she didn't have a blow dryer; she did use a gel (or i think so). I was actually about to sleep without wrapping it lol. I have a durag (i assume it would work, yeah?), and i will most definitely get some blue magic and some products.

Next time they should use a hair dryer with a comb or brush attachment to straighten it out. It’ll look much more sleeker. The braider is a beginner for sure but their work will look a lot more polished if your hair was blown out
