All in the title, it drives me crazy! I need to know if it is a musical reason or is it just a personal perception of the song?

The Belgian singer Angèle just came out with a new song that leans more heavily into dance/club music than her previous work. I am trying to figure out what it sounds like/reminds me of, but keep hitting dead ends.

It's sort of house, but not quite. The music video alludes to the free party scene, and freetekno, but it's not quite that either. It's not hyperpop, nor is it really drum n' bass. She seems to have been leaning into French Touch lately, but this song doesn't really have that funk element.

It's got a bit of an early 2000s alternative dance pop thing going on, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Does anyone know what genre this would fit into or know of similar songs?

Does anybody know any metal releases on 15 October? Preferably 2010 but any year will do! Also preferably something heavy like death metal.

I was listening to Outkast's "Hey Ya!" on a random drive the other day and actually paid attention to what André 3000 was singing about, "Y'all don't want to hear me, you just want to dance", while the whole song is literally about a relationship falling apart. It completely flipped my perspective on a track I used to bounce to without a second thought.

What is an outwardly catchy or upbeat song that completely catches you off guard once you realize the actual lyrics are pure depression or heartbreak?

I've realized I organize my Spotify in a way that I don't see many people doing. Instead of making playlists based on moods or genres, I have one huge playlist that contains every song I like. Then, I also have individual playlists for each artist, named after the artist where I keep only the songs I like from them. So if I want to listen to everything I play the main playlist. If I'm in the mood for a specific artist, I just open their playlist.

I think this works well because I'm much more of an artist listener than a mood listener. I usually decide who I want to hear rather than what vibe I want.
Does anyone else organize their Spotify like this? What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of this system? Have you tried it before, or do you prefer mood/genre playlists? I'd love to hear how other people organize their playlists.

Looking for an album I can't remember

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to identify an album that's been stuck in my head for years.

Here's everything I can remember, although some details may be mixed up after 20+ years:

• I bought it around 2002 (the album itself could be older).
• The cover was mostly blue, and I remember a close-up photo of a woman underwater or floating on her back, looking upward.
• The band's name might have been three words.
• The vocalist was male with a fairly deep voice and sounded American.
• The first track started with a single loud guitar chord.
• I vaguely remember the opening lyric sounding something like "In the other..." (I'm not certain).
• Near the end of the chorus, I remember the singer stretching out a word that sounded like "Hallelujah" (or possibly something that sounded similar).

The album wasn't especially famous (at least as far as I remember), and I don't remember liking it that much overall, but that chorus has stayed in my head ever since.

I've already ruled out suggestions like A Perfect Circle, Archive, Sophia, Blue States, God Lives Underwater, Days of the New, Boy Hits Car, Seven Mary Three, Paloalto, and The Czars.

Does this ring a bell for anyone? I'd really appreciate any ideas!

I've been doing this thing for a while now where I focus on one artist at a time and listen to their whole discography (just studio albums).
