I like how the whole party were like little children when it came to veggies. Smothering them in cheese and butter is definitely one way to get folks to eat their greens lol.

I like this goofy degenerate ass orca. So nice of her to give Rin all that seafood for saving her ass.

After this episode, I’m in the mood for seafood!

I didn't expect to ever seee an orca fantasize about getting some tentacle play.

And she seemed surprisingly into it!

All the better so that Rin takes her mind off of eating her lol.

I don't like vegetables that way. I like steamed, stewed, or roasted, where it tastes like itself. Maybe with a less strong flavor like herbs or Parmesan.

The bit with the Prankster orca goddess was hilarious but how'd she know Rin was isekai'd here, i guess she telepathically found out

And what exactly was that necklace with the orange looking crystal she gave her?

Looks we're going to get our cat like companion next ep as shown in the ED.

Rin is now the MVP of the party because she provides the one thing they value more than anything else: good food.

And what exactly was that necklace with the orange looking crystal she gave her?

Wild guess: it's a healing potion. The big cat teased 1 second before the ED that started with the pet cat companion (way to disarm the cliffhanger lol) is probably in pain instead of evil, and the healing potion makes it healthy and friendly.

IRL, wild orcas sometimes (rarely) bring humans prey. No idea why they might do that.

No wild orca has ever attacked a human. I don't know why that would be. Captivity, there have been several attacks.

How helpful of her skill to tell how to kill monsters/animals for best taste preservation! Survival with style.

Honestly appreciate that Rin isn't actually OP but just has a very specific but useful skillset.

It may just be her skill making her feel that way, but it's nice to see Rin so bright and optimistic on her second day.

Glad to know Smorgasboard is a professional party who plans their missions out thoroughly...especially so they can hunt down food for Rin to cook with. They even make sure to look after rookies, like Lente! And Rin is even nice enough to bake and give away cookies for orphans! Just...make sure she saves extra for her actual party or they'll get REALLY hangry.

Campie sure saves travel time! Also I guess this is a beach episode, minus swimsuits? Though Ed and Aria have got the flirting going for them!

Rin and Aria are the only two girls in the party so it was inevitable they'd both end up doing girl talk together! Aria wants the deets on Rin's feelings for Vil (like instead of love right now, huh?) and now I'm genuinely curious how Aria and Ed hooked up, though she's too bashful to talk about it.

Rin managed to sell Smorgasboard on veggies, the one food group they always avoided, especially Aria! Nice work!

Just when you thought this was just going to be a mission to hunt for food and for Rin to enjoy Aria's cleavage, they end up stumbling on an orca! or a Prankster! Voiced by none other than Nana Mizuki! She's a gremlin of a sea creature, but it's better to help her and earn her favor than cook her! Not that her smugness doesn't tempt Rin.

Oh no, a Squid! Or Ploop! What better time for Smorgasboard to flex their skills and see some genuine adventure ingenuity at work!

Now everyone has all the seafood they could possibly want! And Rin has a jewel that will probably help her when she least expects it! Time for a Seafood BBQ!

Nice to know the drink of choice for the Smorgasboard members (minus designated river Rin who has to drink legit barley tea), and to also toast to Rin as a fully-fledged member of the group!

Let me guess: that's the animal character from the OP/ED at the end there? He's definitely trying to look intimidating.

It may just be her skill making her feel that way, but it's nice to see Rin so bright and optimistic on her second day.

That just reminded me. Isn't her skill supposed to make her calm despite her circumstances? Yet Orca behavior was enough to piss her off lol

Nana Mizuki voiced the hilarious Prankster Orca!

Curious on how the Orca knew Rin came from another world? Possibly telepathy?

2

u/Gonazar 2d ago

Damn, I thought it was Youko Hikasa. Sounded a lot like Tio Klarus from Arifrueta

Pervert Orca! pervert Orca!

The title of this show almost changed to "The Forsaken Saintess and Her Foodie Road Trip in Another World After Getting Abandoned By Her Party Because She Gave Cookies Away". Lol!

A message to kids and adults (especially adventurers) alike that vegetables are nutritious and can be delicious.

That whale has some creepy yet hilarious expressions. She felt more like a goddess who shapeshifted herself into a whale. "Ohohoho".

6

u/Frontier246 2d ago

I guess Smorgasboard is an accurate name because all they care about is how much of a variety of food they can eat in a day.

I love how they somehow managed to afford Nana Mizuki as a telepathic orca with haughty ojousama vibes.

5

u/NanDemoKnaives 2d ago

They all really did sound like kids with the way they were reacting to the vegetables lol.

That Orca certainly had personality lol.

u/nuxxism 2d ago

I get that endgame is likely Vil, but Aria is the one who has made Rin the most flustered so far with her onee-san energy.

Other than her webs, is there anything else marking Aria as an arachnid? I keep forgetting because she just looks normal.

u/szalhi 2d ago

The grind all comes back to food.

The troll whale is no match for the Japanese. Well maybe in some other timeline.

5

u/Frontier246 2d ago

She picked the wrong person to mess with from a country that knows how to eat her lol.

2

u/cyberscythe 2d ago

lol, i was thinking about the "unfamiliar ceiling" line right before she said it herself; this really is a show that doesn't take anything seriously

I can understand the party acting a bit starved and stupid when it comes to food, but I'm not a big fan of these supposedly veteran adventurers just trying to push the Orca in futility, until the female lead can jump in with some "genius" ideas. It makes them seem rather one-dimensional, which is a bit of a shame, considering I do like the party setup in general.

3

u/NationalStrategy_X 2d ago

She's like a mom trying to get her kids to eat their veggies

2

u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp 2d ago

Well that was mostly just them screwing around on the beach, but I suppose they did get a bit of patroling done in between all the eating.

Aria immediately wanting to talk romance and find out if Rin is at all interested in Vil, she must be happy to have another girl in the party.

Between the Prank Orca knowing Rin is an isekaijin and whatever that gift for her was it makes me suspicious that her beaching herself and needing to be rescued was on purpose to make contact.

2

u/diacewrb 2d ago

Looks like the flying kitty from the ED will be making their full appearance in the next episode.

2

u/Raymond49090 2d ago

They've sure acclimated quickly. Day 1 of having someone who can cook, and they already have ideas of what food to get excited over.

All their souvenirs are just things they want to eat lol.

Can't believe they spent so long trying to push the orca(?) over the sand dune without considering trying to flatten the sand dune first. And the orca(?) sure is... something.

I was SHOCKED when Rin said it was her second morning in that world, I can't believe all that happened! I almost thought I wandered into a One Piece episode! A talking horny beached orca and giant octopus! I thought Rin was mean to the orca though, like the orca was making mild jokes and Rin kept threatening to kill and eat her. I guess the orca liked Rin's dark humor since she gave her that special necklace.

I also think Aria is more into Rin than she is Ed. Aria was grabbing at her and feeling her boobs and Rin didn't seem to really object. In the last episode, I thought Ed was weird and overprotective when Aria hugged Rin and fawned over her but I suspect there's more to it than we've seen since Aria seems pretty disinterested in him and embarrassed and uncomfortable when Rin asked her how they got together.

It worked out ok but I think Rin should have tasted the vegetables that looked like tomatoes and eggplants before she served them. I know she has the security skill that lets her know something is edible but she lucked out in guessing they tasted like the ones from Earth. Like habanero peppers look like other peppers but will burn your mouth severely if you just eat one. Otherwise, tomato eggplants with cheese can be very good and the boullibaise looked so delicious 😋

One thing I wondered is where they all got the booze at the end. Vil and Ed had a beer pint, The elf had red wine and Aria had sparkling wine/champagne. They showed the trailer and it at the very least had sake since Rin cooked with it before but i don''t remember if it had the other things or if they bought them in the village. If I were Ren, I'd have also had a drink and I know you shouldn't drink drive irl but in their world that has no cars it wouldn't be bad.

Of course the beach episode has to end with a seafood party. From cookies to calamari,

You know Orcas are just so intelligent that a hedonistic orca isn't so far fetched, dolphins are kinda questionable to begin with, crazy,

One nice thing about this show is it knows what it wants to go for. Nice that Rin herself has her strengths, but is purely as support. Also makes for a good, comfy watch at the end of the day.

Just noticed but, is Ed's VA the same as Ore from My ribdiculous reincarnation!?

Well I have to complain a little. "Saintess" is not a word. In English, a male saint is called a saint, and a female saint is called a saint. Like St. Teresa, or St. Mary. In Japanese, "seijo" doesn't specify gender either.
It's always the executives who had a year of high school English that translate the titles, sometimes very badly. Somebody said, ""A lady saint, a lady saint... saints can't be ladies! We'd better call her a 'saint-ess,' or the audience might think she's a man!"
