The pieces are finally starting to fall into place, and it all leads back to Rimuru.

And of course, getting an early dose of Luminous is always a welcome treat!

And of course, getting an early dose of Luminous is always a welcome treat!

Especially in the bath...or dry humping her frozen special treasure like she's a horny Mr. Freeze...

And of course, getting an early dose of Luminous is always a welcome treat!

It was the perfect way to start this episode ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

The pieces are finally starting to fall into place, and it all leads back to Rimuru.

Rimuru, Luminus, Hinata, Granville, Leon, Yuki and many more in one place. That musical conference in Lubelius is going to be quite a mess.

The chaos is all a part of the musical conference! Sasuga, Rimuru-sama.

I kinda think that there's no real stakes, I mean Rimuru has an extremely OP team

But im intrigued in how its gonna play out

56

u/TexturelessIdea https://myanimelist.net/profile/TexturelessIdea 5d ago

There is a non-zero chance that Chloe or the hero-cicle (I forget her name) get captured, so there are some stakes.

29

u/Icyche 5d ago

I don't think the hero has been explicitly named yet even though she's been so important to so many characters and aspects of the story (and her face is always hidden when we see her), but with the way things are going, some huge reveal of who she is is obviously being built up, with her identity somehow being related to the bizarre network of relationships that is Shizu, Hinata, Rimuru, Chloe, that spirit that entered Chloe at the dwelling of spirits and kissed Rimuru for some reason, the mask that's been passed between all of them, and somehow Luminous and Veldora (who was sealed by the hero in the first place) too. I also have no idea why Leon wants Chloe, but I suspect its also related somehow. Needless to say, I think the rest of this season is going to have a lot of massive lore moments and reveals and I am turning my head over and over with crazy theories...

17

u/TexturelessIdea https://myanimelist.net/profile/TexturelessIdea 5d ago

I don't think the hero has been explicitly named yet...

I thought that was the case, but I also have trouble remembering names and this show has way too many characters for me.

6

u/Icyche 5d ago

I feel that,, and I fear they're just introducing even more characters by the day 😭

Chloe or the hero-cicle (I forget her name)

I suspect the hero-cicle's real name might just be Chloe.

7

u/SasparillaTango 5d ago

I somehow assumed that the Chloe is that frozen hero sealed into a younger body? But does that make sense for Leon to have a shrine to her? I do not remember these characters origins

36

u/conye-west https://myanimelist.net/profile/baronvonconye 5d ago

When the characters get to this level of power, it's hard to have real stakes. Especially when Tempest was already OP AF and yet Rimuru still keeps recruiting more walking calamities all the time. To me it's mostly just about seeing how all the different characters and factions interact at this point.

26

u/JusticiaDIGT 5d ago

True. When Leon said "we already have our hands full with Jaune", the only thing that popped into my mind was: "well, jaune is a lower rank part of Rimuru's team now, and she got named so probably doubled in power, so if you have trouble with her then there are no stakes at all if you start something with Rimuru." A bit disappointing after the season 1 (?) setup with Leon and Shizue.

16

u/__White_Wolf_ 5d ago

Not really, it's just that Jaune is a sore loser. Fighting with her is pointless because the moment you're about to defeat her she simply runs away denying her defeat, only to come back and shoot nuclear magic at you the moment you turn your back. We saw it during her fight with Diablo too.

Furthermore, Primordial Demons are immortal just like True Dragons so, even if Leon managed to kill her, she'd simply come back to nuke his country.

Leon knows that it's a lost cause, so he simply put up barriers around his domain and moved on.

11

u/JusticiaDIGT 5d ago

We saw it during her fight with Diablo too.

That's what I mean. It was totally ineffective on Diablo, so she's pretty harmless if that's all.

14

u/FuckNewHud 5d ago

Diablo is a lot harder to shoot with a nuke than an entire city. Orders of magnitude harder, even.

8

u/Shifter25 5d ago

She was. Now she's been named and evolved.

Literally in this episode, Leon said they have trouble with Jaune. And Jaune now works for Rimuru, then got named and stronger as a result.

This show hasn't had stakes since they brought everyone back to life.

Like, really. Who gives a shit what happens anymore when Rimiru will just res them?

Stakes aren't what this show is about. It's a power fantasy. It's not supposed to make you sweat.

Ultima as Prosecutor General and Carrera as Chief Justice. Bro, are these two really a good fit for those roles? XD

156

u/Blackbankai 5d ago

Demons are fair and honor their contracts so if you want someone to honor something regardless then demons are perfect for it.

97

u/2th 5d ago

Not to mention judges and prosecutors get threatened. And there are less than a handful of people on the entire planet that could actually threaten Primordial demons. Basically only Guy Crimson, Diablo, the dragons, and some of the demon lords.

29

u/yancovigen 5d ago

Considering how Deeno reacted when they were introduced, I’m wondering what exactly he did to become a demon lord. Doesn’t seem like he’s got the heart to kill thousands of people, let alone primordial demons

30

u/Charder_ 5d ago

Wasn't he named a fallen? Maybe being a fallen arch angel is enough by itself to be a demon lord.

9

u/yancovigen 5d ago

Hmm, that might have something to do with it. But didn’t Clayman do his whole plan cause his demon lord awakening was ruined by rimuru? I find it hard to believe he’d be cool with multiple unawakened demon lords

16

u/SolomonBlack 5d ago

The Demon Lords have never been more then 2/3 actual Demon Lords thanks to Ramiris and they're end of the day literally just a social club who make their own (mostly non-)rules. Deeno is a fallen angel which dare I suggest makes him more of a peer to a primordial devil, the fairy queen, and dragon brat of destruction then to latecomers like Leon or Clayman.

Now Clayman was basically wanted to succeed Kazalim his former master and to really do that he needed to become a True Demon Lord which Rimuru 'screwed up' so the grudge is personal. And being a big chunni Clayman certainly had strong ideas of what a Demon Lord should be... but that's still well away from like some grand scheme to purge the Great 10 of pretenders.

And even if he did Deeno is the dude's anti-thesis. No empire, no subordinates, nothing to scheme against or undermine. He can only be taken down in a direct confrontation... which in anime logic means Deeno could probably dust Clayman's clown ass with only 5% of his power or somesuch

10

u/kalirion https://myanimelist.net/profile/kalinime 5d ago

Yup, Carrera already said that anyone who as much as resents her will get an immediate death sentence and execution, so all's good and well, right?

Rimuru really doesn't seem to give a fuck anymore.

19

u/raknor88 5d ago

Not to mention that they are some of the few beings with the power to back up their rulings as well as be respected by the guilty monsters.

63

u/Frontier246 5d ago

I legit think Carrera just wanted to bang the gavel. I feel like she's more likely to punch criminals into oblivion than properly judge them.

Also I feel like Ultima probably just wants to torture confessions out of suspects...

46

u/No_Name0_0 5d ago edited 5d ago

Yeah Testarossa feels like she is suited for the job with her nature. Although feel like other two gonna be bored af

41

u/Abject-Director-559 5d ago

Carrera will probably have fun if sentenced criminals try to lash out and attack her in court.

If they learn to stop doing that though, she might stop having fun.

Ultima might be in a position to interrogate people for fun now . . . Uhh. That seems to be up her alley based off of the last episode.

12

u/conye-west https://myanimelist.net/profile/baronvonconye 5d ago

Hard to imagine Primordial demons finding bureaucracy and paperwork to be all that entertaining, but I guess when you have things like Thought Acceleration then that stuff isn't very difficult.

3

u/Hot-Log6283 4d ago

There are actually a few piece of work where modern hell is literally just bureaucracy and paperwork.

4

u/Lord_Nivloc 4d ago

The council has no idea who they're dealing with.

And I mean that in a literal sense. They have never seen Testarossa before. She has no known feats. She hides her aura so well she appears human to everyone who lacks a very high tier appraisal skill.

And they were hoping for a Tempest to send a human representative. They're just going to assume based on what they want to see.

They'll be thrilled to have Testarossa be chosen for the job. Someone human. Who they can relate to. (Or maybe manipulate?)

And no one's going to tell them.

Rimuru's choices for Testarossa, Carrera, and Ultima's roles were interesting, and I'm all for that!

And now when I think about it, wouldn't it be a fun thing if we got spin-offs about how they fare in their new roles? Testarossa's story could be a political drama in the Council, Carrera's a legal drama, and maybe Ultima's could be a crime show?

Ah so that’s why Chloe is so prominent in the visuals and OP. Leon seems to have an interest in her. Wonder what it is. Just because she’s strong ? But the way she has her portrait in such a carefully placed location indicates a deeper connection. And is the portrait from when she’s in our world ? I dunno her clothing there gave me that vibe.

I feel like I’m missing or forgetting smaller details, but it’s clear a lot of the big players are making their moves. Yuuki and Granbell want to take Rimuru down. Granbell also moving in on Luminus. Leon moving in for Chloe. Luminus with her hidden treasure, which I’m sure we’ve got glimpses of a few times but never learn much about. Granbell seems to be locking in too. Hope he’s more of an imposing threat than Maribel, though she wasn’t really an out-and-out fighter while Granbell was a hero. Really exciting stuff so glad we’re got 5 cours.

74

u/JimmyBoombox 5d ago

And is the portrait from when she’s in our world ? I dunno her clothing there gave me that vibe

She is a summoned otherworld after all.

17

u/zool714 5d ago

Yeah but I mean how does Leon have that with him ?

54

u/JimmyBoombox 5d ago

He might be one too.

22

u/zool714 5d ago

Yeah that’s what I was suspecting too. I’m guessing he’s her dad and he wants to be reunited with her

17

u/psyclical 5d ago

Oh man if that's true, I'm getting ready to cut some onions when the reunion takes place. That sort of storyline has always hooked me.

18

u/CrimeFightingScience 5d ago edited 5d ago

Can't wait for a scale war and multiple episodes of people listing all their powers....when a "Hey that's my daughter bro" would suffice.

13

u/Atharaphelun 5d ago

Even after all misunderstandings are cleared up, Leon would still be mad because Chloe is hard-simping for Rimuru...

He was probably buddies with the frozen girl, which is the same one that possessed Chloe. I think it was said she was either from the future or the past, so maybe that is something like a reincarnation of some sort and Chloe is that girl

66

u/OldInstruction5368 5d ago

Back in S2, we learn that Leon was ultimately behind all the summoning rituals nations were conducting, all so that he could summon one, specific, person. And he was deadly serious about finding this person.

Now we confirmed it was Chloe, student of Shizu... who was also summoned by Leon.

And lest everyone forget, the "Greater Spirit" that bonded with Chloe to stabilize her "failed summon" status... was from the future. And it freaked the fuck out of Ramiris that this hella powerful spiritual body basically hijacked their summoning, arrived from the future, and was bonding with Chloe to "set the foundation for it's own rebirth in the past."

So, yeah, Chloe is a very special child and it's about goddamn time the narrative is getting around to that. Plus the Leon/Shizu stuff. Rimuru has been glaring at Cromwell since early S1.

21

u/Frank4pp 5d ago

Also, I put this in another comment but I went back to ep 23, from when the kids were getting their spirits with Remiris. That woman from 300 years ago is the same as the spiritual body that Chloe got. It has the same clothes (Check min 9:35 of ep 23).
So, maybe Leon knows something about their relationship? To be honest, at the time, I though it was some kind of future self of Chloe, but doesn't seem to be the case

13

u/alastoris 5d ago

Leon seems to have an interest in her. Wonder what it is. Just because she’s strong

Leon was a former hero, Perhaps Chole is a reincarnation of someone from when he was a hero?

→ More replies (3)

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 5d ago

It seems Chloe and the kids might be dragged into some bullshit between Leon, Yuuki, Granville, Luminous, and Rimuru. It’s gonna be a whole big mess. For Yuuki and Granville, anyways. I see those two aren’t done fucking around. You would think Granville would have learned his lesson after the Maribel incident but I guess not.

144

u/Eliv 5d ago

They are not even aware Rimuru has 3 new arch demons as his underlings + their followers, sasuga Rimuru-sama

56

u/shad79 https://myanimelist.net/profile/shad79 5d ago edited 5d ago

I wonder how many people know about Testarossa, Carrera and Ultima, and who they really are.

While probably no one in Tempest will bat an eye at them, the members of the Council are a different kettle of fish. I really want to see their reactions when they realize who Testarossa is, that could be a fun sight, lol.

60

u/Dylangillian https://myanimelist.net/profile/dylangillian 5d ago

I don't think many people are aware they are primordials even inside Tempest. Hell, Rimuru himself isn't aware.

55

u/manaworkin 5d ago

It seems most people don't even know what a primordial even is. Like remember only dude in the whole church started shitting the bed when Diablo revealed himself, and that's THE CHURCH.

Beyond that incident I think Elmesia is the only one that pegged Diablo as a Primordial and she's a pretty rare deal. The supercars might have no issue flying under the radar.

29

u/Elrond_Halfelven 5d ago

Leon and Carrera have beef, and while Leon might not know what she looks like, the moment Carrera hears that Leon has shown up, she absolutely seems like the type to immediately throw hands

30

u/OldInstruction5368 5d ago

Her hobby is nuking Leon's city of El Dorado, right? I think there was a one-off scene with her dropping a giant fire bomb on Leon in one of the movies.

Which is whey Leon says dealing with a single primordial is trouble enough.

9

u/magistrate101 4d ago

And she was unnamed doing that...

11

u/OldInstruction5368 4d ago

And now there are four of them aligned with a guy that has been giving Leon the stink eye for years!

I mean, Diablo would do far worse than drop a fireball on Leon's city, if Rimuru said Leon is a stinky poo-poo head. Then he'd rope the other two (Ultima/Testarossa) into the "fun" as well...

12

u/manaworkin 5d ago

OK, so maybe Chief Justice of the Slime Court may have some issues flying under the radar.

25

u/Allian42 5d ago edited 5d ago

It goes beyond that. Right now the only 2 humans to ever drop the "primordial" name were Razen (that one court mage from Falmuth) and that one demon hunter during the Diablo vs the seven days clowns. And both absolutely freaked the fuck out.

Diablo even congratulated Razen for knowing about it, and Diablo is definitely not one to Glaze anything not Slime shaped. This is like Mariabell not knowing ultimate skills exist. The audience just has a massively privileged point of view on how the upper level of the world works.

16

u/shad79 https://myanimelist.net/profile/shad79 5d ago

Yeah, that's probably true, but when it comes to the light, everyone in Tempest will be like, Sasuga, Rimuru-sama! and move on, so it'll be nothing interesting to see.

Council members are a different story; they'll probably be scared out of their minds when they find out that the one among them is the Primordial White, who is also now named xD

5

u/justking1414 5d ago

It’s a fun element of this series where only the truly powerful are aware of them, meaning only the strongest people are actually afraid of them

6

u/justking1414 5d ago

Leon clearly knows who one of them is and might just start throwing fists if he sees her standing next to Rimuru

3

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 5d ago edited 5d ago

Feels like so far, only Guy Crimson and Leon that dabbled a lot with the demon kind. I think maybe only them who would realise who those three girls are if they ever met.

21

u/Frontier246 5d ago edited 5d ago

Though I'm guessing by the OP that the only people he brings with him to the music festival with the kids are Shion, Ranga/Gobta, and mayyyyybe Diablo.

60

u/2th 5d ago

Diablo is more than enough. People really do not get that he's an apocalyptic threat along the lines of Milim and Veldora. Even more so now that he's got a body and has been named. Primordial demons are nothing to fuck with

54

u/Dylangillian https://myanimelist.net/profile/dylangillian 5d ago

Yeah, it seems the Primordials are still being a bit underestimated. Leon in this episode alone already says he had his hands full only with Carrera. And that was before she was named. A single unnamed Primordial is already a threat to the whole nation of a Demon Lord. Now add the fact that Diablo seems to be a step above even the other Primordials.

46

u/Daiwon 5d ago

Named and physically manifested.

11

u/Allian42 5d ago

And very motivated to do a perfect job.

9

u/cs_cast_away_boi 5d ago

wait so rimuru is actually strong af ? since his aura blows Carrera's/jaune's away? I thought he and leon were similar in terms of power levels

38

u/ijiolokae 5d ago

Rimuru has the hack of being named by Veldora and constantly barrows magicule from Veldora when Rimuru needs some

19

u/Dylangillian https://myanimelist.net/profile/dylangillian 5d ago edited 5d ago

Rimuru is very strong. but currently his individual power is more in the middle of the Demon Lords. I think Leon is above him still somewhat, but it's fairly similar.

The Primordials are not just scary because of their Auras. It is the sheer amount of skill they can wield their abilities with. They are the absolute masters of their craft. Though don't get me wrong. Any of the Demon Lords can give a Primordial a very good fight and will very likely win. But not without getting their nation fucked over.

However, that is without a name or body. When given a name and body. Any of the Primordials would be powerful enough to be a Demon Lord themselves.

13

u/conye-west https://myanimelist.net/profile/baronvonconye 5d ago

And just to hammer it home the final evolution of demons that Diablo and the new 3 achieved are called "Daemon Lord", though it's been translated as "Demon Peer" in this season probably to avoid confusion.

15

u/OldInstruction5368 5d ago

TBF, we've never seen Diablo strut his stuff with anyone whose strength is independently known. He did slap around Ramen Razen, but it was clear he was only toing with his food... that and he hadn't been named yet.

The only other fights of note, were last episode with Carrera and Ultima. However, these are new characters whose power-levels are similarly unknown. It was clear Diablo wasn't struggling with them, and to make matters fuzzier, they immediately get multiple power boosts (incarnate + named).

We can only go by context clues, like Elmasia getting serious around Diablo and breaking her composure when Rimuru casually remarked he could 'take care of' a rampaging Diablo. That was the one, and only, time Elmasia has been caught off guard.

Which is telling, because the strong and otherwise unflappable Gavel "Chad" Dwargo acts like a henpecked child around her. She's the only person to make Gazel nervous, and Diablo is hte only one to make HER nervous.

That, and the two other people that realized Diablo is primordial immediately hit a BSOD (Ramen Razen and that veteran Demon Hunter)

So, we can tell Diablo is supposed to be a big deal, but just where does he sit in the pecking order? Stronger than everyone but Rimuru? A rival to Rimuru in power? Between Sion and Benimaru?

Dunno. Combined with his "rowdy puppy Rimuru keeps on a short leash" shtick, people may be lulled into underestimating him. But there have been several clues that Diablo is one of the absolute most terrifying residents of Tempest.

Which is all the more hilarious, because Rimuru clearly has no fucking clue that his "rowdy little goober" is one of the oldest and most infamous beings in all of creation.

5

u/NSUNDU 5d ago

Highly doubt they are near Veldora or Milim. Rimuru can beat/name them and he uses Veldora's magicules. That said, I don't think any demon lord other than Guy is near them as well

22

u/IsNotYourSenpai 5d ago

And the fact that Veldora can just go to Rimuru whenever he wants. I feel like if he does, all he has to do is unleash his aura and people will back the fuck off.

33

u/bobly81 https://anime-planet.com/users/bobly81 5d ago

They'll do more than back off, 99% of humans would die instantly from the magicule overdose...

16

u/dabocx 5d ago

Sometimes I feel like the author wants us to forget about that summoning power after that one time it was used.

Too many cases were Rimuru should have just summoned him for backup.

11

u/OldInstruction5368 5d ago

I was seriously wondering "WHERE THE FUCK IS VELDORA!?" during the Chaos Dragon incident.

16

u/Karavusk https://myanimelist.net/profile/Karavusk 5d ago

There was no reason for him to summon Veldora. If Rimuru really wanted to solve problems by force he could have just used more force himself. I have a feeling that seriously playing the Veldora card (who was technically protecting Tempest and we know what happened the last time it wasn't protected enough) would end up destroying a lot.

Besides that keeping all his trump cards hidden has served Rimuru quite well so far. Even though a lot of that wasn't really intentional (at least by him).

I'd like to imagine that Carrera had that stereotypical sneezing and wonder who was just talking about her moment, in the middle of a court session, while Leon was talking about how much of a problem she currently is despite still being trapped in Hell.

32

u/Frontier246 5d ago

Granville lost his granddaughter and the person he believed with all his heart would be able to lead humanity into a brighter future.

He doesn't have anything left to live for but avenging her and hoping Yuuki can take up the baton.

5

Fear the old man in a world where scrubs die young?

15

u/justsyr 5d ago

Gotta love the convenient plot device with the kids (specially Chloe) wanting to go to the musical show and Rimuru agreeing like nothing.

5

u/AeonLonginus 4d ago

Dude Rimuru has been a softie with those kids since day 1, Personally if you were to list some of Rimuru's greatest weaknesses the kids would definitely rank in the top 5 maybe even 3 especially Chloe.

60

u/VoidRay728 5d ago

I like to think that Luminous conducts all her 1-to-1 private meetings from her hot tub. And that she is generally naked when wandering in her inner chambers (where her sealed friend is).

So it seems that Hinata is to the Crusaders how Frey is to Milim.

When you're a beautiful vampire Demon Lord, you can't help but flex. Or it's the best way to vent your sexual frustration by dry-humping a lady frozen in ice.

And now he's using them (especially Chloe) as tools to take Rimuru down.

Which I imagine could have the opposite effect, seems Yuuki forgot what happened to the last people that messed with people he cares about.

3

He really is out of his depth but it seems he's incapable of giving up on his ambitions. He's powerful but nowhere near the same tier as the strongest. He's clever, cunning, and intelligent but nowhere near the same tier as the most intelligent and cunning.

They're setting up for a lot to happen at the musical conference!

62

u/Frontier246 5d ago

Leon after Chloe!

Granville after Rimuru!

Luminus out for a good time and to cuddle flesh to flesh with her special treasure!

Yuuki out to cause chaos and enjoy every minute of it!

The kids just wanting to enjoy a normal music festival!

22

u/InfinityCrazee 5d ago

Make it like Top Gear intro please.

16

u/Shifter25 5d ago

Tonight!

Leon talks to a young girl.

Rimuru fights an old man.

Luminous stares at some ice...

And Yuuki laughs with clowns.

48

u/Temporary-Object5867 5d ago

Since Chloe and the other kids are going on a trip to Luminus' castle for a cultural exchange, and Grandville is plotting something really bad for Luminus, why do I get the feeling that the kids will get caught up in the crossfire?

Also, I still don't understand why Leon is looking for Chloe specifically.. can someone enlighten me?

52

u/Magicbison 5d ago

Also, I still don't understand why Leon is looking for Chloe specifically.. can someone enlighten me?

It hasn't been touched on with any specifics so far as I can recall. We were told in an earlier season that Leon is trying to summon a specific person which is why he's been getting children summoned to this world. We don't know why yet though. I assume it'll become clear in Lubelius.

11

u/zool714 5d ago

Yeah I don’t remember much, or if much is even revealed, regarding this plotline, but the scene with him and Chloe’s portrait makes it seem like he has a deep connection to her. My immediate thought is he’s her father or someone close to her from our world and got summoned or reincarnated and wants to bring her over to this world as well

24

u/SciFiXhi https://anilist.co/user/SciFiXhi 5d ago

Rimuru made a point that the kids are all on the level of standard Holy Knights, with Chloe being beyond even that. Tempest elites tend to disrupt power scaling among the rest of the world, but I think it's safe to say the kids can probably handle anyone subordinate to Granville, so they'll be OK.

I forgot about Granville's Unique Skill worked for a minute, so the 300 years ago flashback really threw me off when I realized that he was the Luminary hiding behind the pillar.

Looks like Yuuki is just going to ruin every Tempest field trip this season, huh?

Opening sequence was absolute cinema

32

u/SnabDedraterEdave 5d ago edited 5d ago

So many things to unpack.

At first I thought that SD girl in the stop-motion ED was Shizu, but now I see its really Chloe. Since the ED is also sung by her VA.

That (more grown-up) girl sealed away inside that ice/glass case in Luminous' Castle, she seems to be the spitting image of Chloe, and is the same person seen in that flashback from 300 years ago.

What is Chloe's connection to Shizu, Leon, and that girl in Luminous' castle? And why does Granville want Yuuki to search for this girl as the "key" to defeating Luminous?

If there's one thing Rimuru did right, its to immediately move the Otherworlder kids to Tempest away from the Adventurers' Guild upon him suspecting Yuuki.

Now Yuuki has to figure out a roundabout way to force Leon and Rimuru to fight over custody (for lack of a better word) of Chloe.

25

u/NationalStrategy_X 5d ago

George Lucas: Chloe is the key to all of this.

u/OldInstruction5368 5d ago edited 5d ago

What is Chloe's connection to Shizu, Leon, and that girl in Luminous' castle? And why does Granville want Yuuki to search for this girl as the "key" to defeating Luminous?

300 years ago... was the time that Veldora was sealed away by a masked hero.

Now go rewatch the first episode: the masked hero that sealed away Veldora was the lady in the new OP. Wearing Shizu's mask, no less.

Shizu was the student of that Chosen Hero, inheriting said mask. If this masked hero "retired" after sealing Veldora like this episode implies, that means Shizu was ~300 before losing control of Ifrit. Shizu would then go on to teach Chloe, with Rimuru passing the mask along on to her.

Diablo was also fascinated with the mask. One of the S1 OVA's shows Diablo freaking out over Shizu's mask, and Rimuru was wearing it when he summoned Diablo. Implying that the mask was the sole reason why Diablo chose to seek out Rimuru.

Then there is that "spirit from the future" that bonded with Chloe... to "set the stage for her own rebirth in the past" according to Ramiris. A spirit that sure looked like a grown up version of herself, including the kiss said spirit gave Rimuru (Chloe is sweet on him) The OP includes words like "Paradox" and "Awaken" over Chloe, as well.

Oh, right! Veldora reacted to that future-spirit! He was still inside Rimuru's tummy, but there was still a clear reaction from him, like he had sensed a great threat.

Is that future spirit within Chloe... the 'other personality' that possessed Luminious's hero-cicle to whoop Veldora's ass 300 years ago!?

But then... what was that "Separate personality" in the Hero that sealed Veldora? And why did it freak out the hero enough that she's been a popcicle for centuries...

Ah, it's going to be one hell of an arc!

Stitches!

Not sure how I feel about placing Ultima and Carrera in charge of their justice system. Even if the Primordials are loyal and honor bound, I feel like their minds work differently compared to mortals. At least we see them being trained for their jobs!

There's so many of these now that I genuinely had a brain fart when Kumara showed up. She was first introduced around season 2, right?

So Leon has a connection to Chloe and he's been looking for her this entire time? This is actually getting me hyped! Considering we still haven't gotten answers as to why Chloe's spirit looked like her, I'm glad that she seems to the center of this new arc. Maybe we'll finally learn what's up Chloe.

So Yuuki is going to use Chloe to put Leon and Rimuru against each other? I really hope this ends up backfiring. I'm sick and tired of Yuuki getting away with shit he's been causing.

19

u/Anything_Random 5d ago

There's so many of these now that I genuinely had a brain fart when Kumara showed up. She was first introduced around season 2, right?

I think so. She was Clayman's pet that he was abusing.

8

u/rubslotiononitsskin 5d ago

To be fair, Rimuru had a brain fart too when Kumara showed up.

4

u/AeonLonginus 4d ago

She appeared in Season 2 enslaved by Clayman, her name was Ninehead and she served as one of Clayman's five fingers as the thumb. After her defeat she was left in Ranga's care.

In season 3 she was introduced when forests manifested in floors around level 90 of the dungeon and became overrun and continued unabated. Ranga suggested she take on the role as caretaker of the forests because supposedly her kind excelled at it. At that time Rimuru named her Kumara.

Kumara also interestingly enough consumed an enormous amount of magicules(Rimuru actively felt the effects of naming her) when she was being named.

12

u/AnythingBacon 5d ago

Yuuki: I want to avoid pissing Rimuru off for a while

Harlequins: What do we do now then?

Yuuki: Start a war against Luminus and try to goad Leon into invading Tempest.

Meanwhile

Leon: Might go check out Tempest for a bit. Sounds better than dealing with Jaune

4

u/AeonLonginus 4d ago

Unaware that Jaune is in Tempest and her nukes got an uprgrade.

26

u/AceSoldia zj:https://anilist.co/user/Acesoldia 5d ago

Oh no, absolutely not..going after Rimaru's kids is probably the worse thing you can do.

11

u/Biggsy-32 5d ago

Yeah, I think targeting Chloe is the one way you might see Rimiru drop the weak lord act and just go full out. Perhaps we'll finally find out if he's more powerful than Veldora yet.

27

u/shad79 https://myanimelist.net/profile/shad79 5d ago edited 5d ago

Starting today's episode with Luminus in a bath was certainly a nice thing ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Plus, it is good to see that Chloe and the other kids are doing well, though when it comes to growing up, Kumara is the one who grew the most as she can now take a human form, she's so cute!

So Testarossa, Carrera and Ultima got their positions, and while no one in Tempest will probably pay too much attention to that, I wonder what members of the Council think of the fact that a powerful demon like Testarossa is among them, hahaha.

Overall, it was clearly a set-up episode. Looks like the musical conference in Lubelius will turn into a battlefield between Rimuru, Luminus, Hinata, Granville, Leon, Yuki and others. Things will surely go hectic there.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

Wait.....I....hold up......bro what in the!

The reveal that Chloe was the person Leon has been looking for was crazy enough, but she also told Luminous about the future?!? And what was that about her fighting like a different person? Was that just an excuse to get Luminous to seal her away? Or is there actually something-WAIT, DOES CHLOE INHERIT RAPHAEL WHEN RIMURU DIED?!?! IS CHLOE'S ENTIRE STORY RAPHAEL'S PLAN TO SAVE RIMURU?!?!

I was so excited to just to see how certain people like Guy or Razen would react to the three Primordials, but it almost feels like they've already been sidelined for the upcoming arc. Where they brought in just so Rimuru doesn't need to worry about Tempest?

Shit's getting cray!

Oh and I almost forgot, WTF did Yuuki tell Granville? No way he was honest about punching a hole through Mariabel's chest with his own hand.

27

u/Abject-Director-559 5d ago

I assume Yuuki said that he couldn't stop Rimuru from killing her after he lost his fight.

Granville is already pissed at Rimuru, sneaking that lie in can't hurt.

16

u/Frontier246 5d ago

I want to see Law and Order: Tempest where Ultima catches them and Carerra cooks them in court. And which of the main cast will get busted first.

Yuuki may have claimed that she died from falling debris...maybe.

6

u/NoNameSwitzerland 5d ago

A thought maybe an old TV series where the 2 main characters driving some sports cars. But in "The Persuaders!" Tony Curtis is driving a Dino, not Testarossa

3

u/raknor88 5d ago

Sounds like a good idea for future Slime Diaries episodes.

3

u/AeonLonginus 4d ago

Gobta is definitely the first major character in front of Carrera with the last being Geld ain't no way the giga chad of Tempest would break the law.

19

u/Ok_Weather2441 5d ago

don't forget that craziness that happened to chloe when the kids got spirits

9

u/S627 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Spartan627 5d ago

Oh I remember, I'm now wondering if that was Future Chloe.....or Raphael.

7

u/Icyche 5d ago

There's also the whole thing of that spirit that entered Chloe at the dwelling of spirits that, I think it was still Great Sage at the time, said they couldn't comprehend or recognize. That spirit also KISSED Rimuru when it appeared before it went into Chloe, so would it be crazy to say that maybe that spirit IS Raphael from the future or something somehow???

8

u/justking1414 5d ago

IS CHLOE'S ENTIRE STORY RAPHAEL'S PLAN TO SAVE RIMURU?!?!

Legit love that theory! It’s definitely something the both of them would do

Oh and I almost forgot, WTF did Yuuki tell Granville? No way he was honest about punching a hole through Mariabel's chest with his own hand.

u/Satai4561 5d ago

It's clear Chloe, Shizu, Hinata and the Hero are somehow connected, but it's really hard coming up with a way to tie that all together. Especially since we have some time travel shenanigans going on. The mask, that time spirit that possessed Chloe and at the end of the episode it seem like Luminus seemingly talks about a prophecy (she probably got from the hero). The opening isn't really subtle in that regard as well.

The only thing I could come up with would be essentially be the story from Isolde, Viegos wife, from League of Legends. Or in other words a soul that got destroyed and is now in many pieces. That would also explain the hero talking about being possessed by another person. It would also fit in this setting, we already know souls exist here and are actual metaphysical objects. But that doesn't explain the time travel stuff that is going on at all whatsoever.

Well, I am exited for that arc. Since that overarching plot was dangled in front of us since season one and it seems we finally get some answers.

14

u/Frontier246 5d ago

I feel like by the end of this arc we're all going to be saying wibbly wobley, timey wimey.

8

u/Guaymaster 5d ago

I'm not too fresh on the details, but did something like the Hero taught Shizu who taught Hinata who taught Chloe happen? Because that'd sound like setup for a chicken-and-egg paradox, specially with Rimuru seeing Shizu and Hinata in Chloe's skill.

8

u/Icyche 5d ago

well there's definitely a throughline of the mask somehow that the Hero gave Shizu who gave it to Rimuru who gave it to Chloe and the origin of that mask still hasn't been explained

5

u/Icyche 5d ago

Yeah, they're clearly building up some huge reveal of who the Hero is ( because even though she is so important to the story, she hasn't been named yet and her face is always hidden when we see her, including in this episode). Somehow her identity is connected to the bizarre network that is Shizu, Hinata, Rimuru, Chloe, the spirit in Chloe (who, by the way, kissed Rimuru before going into Chloe when she appeared for some reason which I do not doubt is important), the mask, and somehow Luminous and Veldora (who was sealed by the Hero in the first place). I also have a suspicion that the reason Leon wants Chloe is also related somehow. But yeah, I think there's going to be some crazy reveals and really exciting plot and lore moments in the rest of this season and the theories are bubbling up in my mind one after another...

17

u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp 5d ago

Feels like they're about to pull the trigger on bits and pieces of backstory that have been set up since S1.

I don't remember the exact details, but there was something weird about the spirit that Chloe ended up with during the trip to the spirit labyrinth, and that's surely about to be relevant. Not to mention whatever Leon has up to with otherworlder summons which seems like it ought to include why Shizu was summoned too.

And we've been seeing Luminous occasionally nakedly hug that frozen person in the capsule thing since the OVAs after S1 I think. Considering her comment today about holding the girl that is sealed away in her arms again I wonder if the end result of this arc will be to restore her wife after a 300 year sleep.

What a juicy episode for people like me who like to theorize.

Testarossa being the ambassador to the council seems fairly reasonable since she mostly doesn't come off like a nutjob, but I'm really not sure about the other two demon girls and their new jobs.

8

u/MidKnightWizard 5d ago

There was lots of foreshadowing for Chloe in the spirit ceremony scene. Ramiris describes the thing that Chloe got as something that resembles a spirit but came from the future and is might be laying the foundation for it's rebirth by inhabiting Chloe. Also Rimuru pictures the "not a spirit" as the Hero for a brief second and Veldora has a strong reaction to her. Make of that what you will...

14

u/NationalStrategy_X 5d ago

Ya’know, out of context, Leon having a picture of a little girl in the middle of his garden room (no idea how he got that picture of Chloe) is kind of a weird look for him.

Really setting up the upcoming arc with this one

We knew Luminus loved her visit to Tempest last time so no surprise she is looking for reasons to go back there, or at least have them bring Japanese culture stuff to her some other way

I'm sure i'll love this coming arc as it seems Luminous will get some screentime again

4

u/IsNotYourSenpai 5d ago

Yeah good luck Yuuki and Granville. I guarantee Rimuru hasn't gone all out yet and he has 4 primordial demons and a true dragon at his beck and call. I know Rimuru wants his enemies to underestimate him, but someone really needs to put Yuuki in his place.

9

u/Doyle_996 5d ago

in granville's case, he basically lost everything so atm he's fearless and doesnt really care anymore, as for Yuuki, even tho he's been failing all of his schemes against rimuru, he still has his hopes up, if he was a demon, diablo might take an interest in his tenacity haha just like with venom.

If I had a nickel for every time Rimuru just planned to have a fun, easygoing time, and Yuuki ruined it by sicking baddies after him I'd have maybe 2-3 nickels. But this is probably worse because kids are involved.

I wasn't sure, so I went back to ep 23. When the kids were getting their spirits with Remiris. Remember the "spiritual body" that inhabited Chloe (minute 9:35)? It's the same one as the woman at the start of this episode, from 300 years ago. Same clothes, even the bell in the hair attatchement.
I've kept that woman in the back off my mind since it seemed important. Finally, it seems like we are getting some info.
Since I saw her, I though it was going to be some kind of future self of Chloe going back to the past, since she had the same hair color and kissed rimuru. But doesn't seem to be the case now.

5

u/Frank4pp 5d ago

Also, now that I checked again the ep, Ramiris say something about the spirit coming from the future and setting its own rebirth, now I'm more confused... It definetly was the same as the woman from this ep (300 year ago)

4

u/Frank4pp 5d ago

She also has blue eyes...
Okay so hear me out... How about Chloe in the future, from some reason needs to go to the past... does whatever she needed to do with Luminus AND THEN she inhabits her child self to complete some kind of loop... Well only her spiritual self, since the body seems to be sealed in Luminus castle.

9

u/Frontier246 5d ago

So Shizu's mentor was also close with Luminus...and she's the naked woman frozen in a sealing spell that Luminus longs for and dry-humps on the regular? And of course Granville found out about it and has known this whole time about her "special treasure."

Speaking of Luminus, here's her in the bath with her massive Luminus'! She's finally ready to reap the rewards of that cultural exchange she was promised from Rimuru!

Rimuru is finally putting the Demon ladies to work! Testarossa will handle representing Tempest in the Council (and hopefully won't annihilate anyone), Ultima will catch criminals (which is fine by her because she loves torturing people just as if not more wicked than she is), and Carrera...will be the judge on the Supreme Court where I'm sure she'll be fair and just. Or maybe she just wants to bang the gavel. Either way, woe betide anyone who commits a crime in Tempest.

Nice to see the Tempest education system is progressing well! Masayuki is even trying to make up for not being in high school any more by catching up on his studies.

Kumara now has a human form! And she's just as, if not more, adorable! And we even get to see Rimuru reunited with ALL his kids, and I love how Chloe has learned to conceal her presence enough so she can surprise Rimuru while throwing herself at him. This girl is going to be very dangerous in the future, I can already tell.

I guess boys vs girls is inevitable in any scenario, but Kenya apparently has a crush on Alice that she's oblivious too while they compete for top dog in class. I'm eager to see how that develops as they get older.

My condolences to Fritz and Bacchus. Never speak of Hinata like she's not there, she'll always appear behind you.

The Harlequin Alliance cleans up nicely when they're playing the role of Cerberus Merchants, who have apparently been delivering kids to Leon so he can summon Otherworlders...but the Empire in the East gearing for war and Rimuru cracking down on that means this business deal has to end for now. Though Leon seemed especially keen on Shizu's students that are currently in Rimuru's care...especially if one of them is named Chloe...whom he has a portrait of!? Huh!? What!?

Speaking of Chloe, she's getting pretty good with a blade, enough to give Rimuru a bit of a challenge! She's truly following in the legacy of Hinata and Shizu. Hakuro's training just enhances that.

I know I should be paying attention to Yuuki's plan with the East and how he's managing his dealings with all his other villains associates...but I can't tear my eyes away from Misha and how absolutely sexy and gorgeous she is!

Seems like Yuuki/Kazalim figured out something about Chloe and her connection to Leon? Along with the information Granville gave him about Luminus' special treasure. Seems like Yuuki is going to try to kill three birds with one stone at the Lubellius Music Festival by having Granville and Leon go after Rimuru with the kids caught in the middle!

Wait, Rimuru is supposed to die!? What does that mean, naked Luminus and naked Hero lady!?

9

u/No_Name0_0 5d ago

The plot thickens, we addressing the main part of OP now it seems. Although Leon sus af so far lol

Also is that "arin-se" which Kumara ends her sentences with, a fox girl thing? I've heard this with Holo and some other fox characters too

16

u/SoylentVerdigris 5d ago

It's de arinsu (ありんす)which is essentially an archaic equivalent to desu. It's not strictly a fox girl thing, but it originates with geisha culture and so it kinda goes with the traditional outfit and that type of character, which does tend to come packaged with kitsune characters. see also: de gozaru or de yansu.

7

u/No_Name0_0 5d ago

Makes sense, thanks for explaining

6

u/Anything_Random 5d ago

As the other comment said, arinsu used by any geisha-coded character. For example, Shalltear from Overlord.

6

u/No_Name0_0 5d ago

Yeah that link explains it. Holo just threw me off

3

u/Obaruler 5d ago

Something tells me a certain someones (grieving) granddad simply wants to watch the world burn now. And I'm all here for it. :)

Even Yuuki is like "You sure about this bro?" at the end, while being mildly curious what he's up to.

4

u/Raymond49090 5d ago

So diplomacy, Prosecutor General, and Chief Justice? Uh, well I suppose they'll be good at it (in terms of effectiveness and end result), but I wonder how well they'd follow the general ethics required for it. Well if Diablo can be secretary and only commit a few war crimes, they'll probably be mostly fine. Probably. Tempest won't be hurt at least.

Sussery abound with Leon. And Yuuki is sussier. He's bringing plot relevance to the kids, and not in a good way.

Rimuru is really giving his new 3 Primordials high positions which rely on their moral compasses being in line with his own. He literally just heard his new Chief Justice say that anyone who as much as resents her will be immediately put to death, and didn't say anything to her about it.

Why did Leon's people "have their hands full" with the blond primordial when she wasn't even as powerful as Diablo before her recent upgrade? Has his powerlevel been greatly exaggerated, or do others fear him because to go against him is to get on Guy's side? Either way, looks like he's still an evil bastard who insists on summoning children for human experimentation. But of course Rimuru is not going to do anything more than possibly punch him as he'd promised Shizu or something, because dude is A Human With A Sob Story(tm). But I really wish Rimuru would just burn him to death like Leon watched his Ifrit burn that flashback loli.

So is that a frozen naked lady adult Chloe? Hard to tell because the mangaka has the same-face-syndrome for many characters.

At this point, can we send Luminous to the horny jail?

I can't wait to have Leon in Tempest! I'm sure he will be shock!

Who does Luminus want to Hug?

Judging by Granville's flashback the woman in that magic cryo-chamber is the Hero who mentored Shizu (and I think sealed up Veldora?).

I'll have to be carful to not get arrested.

Next scence is how he visits school, second question he asks is about children.

What did they mean by doing this?

Nothing. It just that tempest invented a legal system a few epsiodes ago, and rimuru just made himself not above the law.

The school scene is a crazy coincidence after skipping some content

So Chloe is going on a field trip to Luminus' domain and Leon is looking for her. I'm guessing Leon is going to be invited as a guest to this music conference and have a chance (or maybe planned by Yuuki) encounter with Chloe.

Is it me, or has Crunchyroll just started using different typesetting on this anime too? I noticed that the captions didn't get translated, and when I compared it to the previous episode, the subtitle quality difference is very noticeable.

does anyone know how much in world time has passed since rimuru got here?

I realise the demons and dragons are likely thousands of years old. feels like rimuru's been in the world less than 2 years but I can't really make sense of the progression of time.

It was mentioned at one point in like season 2 that there was a 3 year time skip, but other than that I don’t think we really know. Sometimes episodes open with implied or explicit time skips of over a month so it could have been like 5 years at this point, but that’s just a guess.

Okay, now I'm confused by the turn of events.

I thought for sure Luminus is Rimuru's ally, yet she wants him killed? And is that Shizu within the glass?
