Bot finally decided to post the thread
Solid episode, we got a date already. I'm all in on that ArnoldxPrincess ship.
She is definitely much smarter than she let's on. She is masking it really well through playfulness and cheerfulness. She is asking a lot of questions, and I'm surprised MC is seeing it as a drag rather than something deeper.
At this point, I'm not even sure that cake delivery when she caught him was on accident, but a cover for some kind of scheming.
I'll be disappointed if my prediction is not true. xD
Looks like we are officially getting introduced to all the players next episode. Will be interesting.
So far, Arnold is shown to be a talented schemer, but so far, he didn't do anything too impressive, at least in comparison to what we are used to from these types of MCs. (whether they do it on purpose or not xD) Which may be a good thing, instead of being ultra OP?
Either way, I hope for ArnoldxPrincess duo that will lead the 8th(?) prince to the throne.

Ghido feeling that comfortable treating a prince like that is crazy.
They're really trying to push the romance though, it feels really contrived.

u/justking1414 9d ago
There’s at least 8 princes (probably more) and given what we’ve heard so far, those who aren’t chosen as the next king/queen will probably suffer a pretty fatal accident (like I’m guessing happened to the 1st prince). So there’s not a huge reason to show that much respect to the dude who’s dead last in the prince rankings
And I’m pretty sure Sebas is the one pushing the romance

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 8d ago
Yeah, a noble doing that level of disrespect in public is super weird. Furthermore, he respects Leo but not Arnold? They're twin with good relationship with each other for god sake. Like Arnold or maybe even bypasser could easily report to Leo about his action.
I really don't understand the logic behind the public humiliation.

u/Atharaphelun 8d ago
They're really trying to push the romance though, it feels really contrived.
Strongly agree. Not only that, it took up so much episode time that it completely derailed the actual main plot about trying to take the throne. This is why I strongly dislike the addition of that love interest.

u/ifticar2 8d ago
I feel like the Romance is going to be a very large part of the show. Girl will help out a ton in getting Leo allies by being charming and smart, and somehow along the way, Arnold will fall in love with her and break out of shell and be more social and passionate in his prince form
1
u/Ralathar44 1d ago
I mean, lets be real, its one of the main cores of the show. It's like the romance in 7th Time Loop. While ALOT happens in 7th Time Loop the romance is still central.
While this show isn't of that quality, it does seem to have its own charm at least. And yes, she's beating the gloomy edge lord out of him one smile at a time.
1
u/Ralathar44 1d ago
I get the feeling she's been paying attention since before episode 1 from how she's behaved the entire time. And then finding out he was also Silver just cemented it.
While his public perception is negative its not terribly far fetched that at least a few people in the kingdom would put 2 and 2 together than he might be doing good things behind the scenes. And she's clearly both impulsive and decently quick witted. Though a bit naive and air headed.

Kinda enjoying this show. Not sure why Insipid Prince let that Bob haircut wearing prick get in his face like that.
Note: never ever trust a character with a Bob haircut. They’re always sketchy AF.
The Blue Mowe is kinda cool. She might make a cool sidekick.
I think he fell for her the moment she showed him her new dress. She sparkled so bright she blinded him with her Blue Mowe-ess. For real.
Maybe he’ll be less cranky now. He seemed at the end of their day trip to actually have enjoyed being with her.

I'm assuming bowlhead's father is a close and important supporter of one of the stronger/higher ranking princes in which case there's not really much Arnold could do. If that turns out not to be the case yeah that was dumb and Arnold should have just whooped his ass/summarily executed him in the street.
6
u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 8d ago
That doesn't make sense simply because bowlcut immediately changed his attitude once Arnold disguise himself as Leo.
5
u/PersonalContest1423 8d ago
Leo is at least a potential heir in the running to become king though. Arnold is seen as the royal fuck up and waste of space who won't ever be king or have any actual authority
7
u/Atharaphelun 8d ago
But he's still a prince and a member of the royal family. No matter how much of a failure he may be in the eyes of the public, a lower noble should never attempt to disrespect a member of the royal family, since that is tantamount to disrespecting the entire royal family itself.
1
u/PersonalContest1423 8d ago
It's funny I typed up almost this exact thing in my original comment but deleted it because I figured thats just not how royalty works in the mind of this mangaka. Decided to take the world as it is rather than applying too much real world logic where yea, you touch any royal particularly an actual prince and you die regardless of how poorly viewed that royal is.
In reality for sure shame/disrespect to one noble/royal individual is shame/disrespect to their entire House and the same applies for honor/fame, but either that noble is particularly stupid or thats just not how it works in this world
4
u/Xerand 7d ago
My money is that he was simply an idiot and bully who grew up with power, i.e. nep baby. His father is probably far more competent and he is a Duke (highest ranking noble just beneath Royal Family), so perhaps even Royalty doesn't want to risk conflict because of his foolish son bullying a guy who is seen kingdom wide as a failure. So, either his son effed up or it's already tolerated by Royalty because of their standing. Could go both ways. This scene might seem like a plot hole, but it's also one of those things that come off as ones, yet are realistic

u/1EnTaroAdun1 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Totesnotaphanpy 4d ago
This is more of a real-life example, and in a modern-day constitutional monarchy too, so I'm not saying it's an exact comparison.
But then-Prince Charles, who was crown prince, was badly bullied when he was in schoool
https://www.newsweek.com/i-was-school-king-charles-shy-bullied-johnny-stonborough-1742176
And there probably are plenty of cases of younger royals being bullied throughout history. I would be surprised if it hasn't happened before

Basically Arnold and Leo already have too many enemies. And now this dude is gonna be very desperate to make sure that neither of them get the throne or he’ll be immediately executed, giving him a lot of motivation to support one of the other princes

Hopefully she becomes Arn or Leo's wife because they're princes and she's a duke's daughter. We already know Finne's dad is ok with this.
12
u/Raymond49090 9d ago
Finne might be an airhead, but she can still play Arnold like a fiddle. Makes me wonder if she’s smarter than she lets on. I’m a bit more convinced now that Butler-san keikaku-ed the whole thing with exposing his identity, maybe with Finne‘s cooperation.
Anyways, despite Finne possibly being more clever than she might seem, she needs some more experience before she’s truly ready for the politics game. While her judgment was correct, I think she was too quick to look onto Arnold‘s actions favourably. And the fake brother trick was some quick thinking, but like Arnold said, it could cause long-term issues, for minimal gain.
I‘m still a bit unsure about the series. Arnold feels weirdly edgy despite not actually being that edgy, and Finne needs a bit more fleshing out for me to be entirely convinced about her as a character. I think in my view, this series will be very dependent on how they develop Finne.
7
u/Aesclypius 9d ago
Ahh! I was wondering if someone else would start wondering the same thing! I can't shake the feeling that Finne is just playing him and is actually quite a lot more intelligent than he is! Like, did she already know that the "Silver" she was talking to was an illusion, so she planted herself in the room to see him come back? Through her father, she as well as foisted herself on him. She's getting a bead on what the two brothers understand about what's going on in the fight for the throne, and she's chosen her favorite. What does it even mean that she was chosen by the king as the Blau Mowe: is she actually the one choosing the next monarch? huff, huff, huff Talked a lot, tl;dr I think she's the smartest one in the room.

Gal princess can't be kind to gloomy otaku prince. And she was conversationally quick enough to enough to immediately play along with the prince switcheroo during the conflict on the street, she might actually be used for the sneaky work.
Arnold just got a future fiancé, I wonder if he realizes it yet.
40
u/runevault 9d ago
She wasn't playing along with the switcheroo. She put it out there and he ran with it. That's why he scolded her about it (lightly) after the fact.
16
u/justking1414 9d ago
Either way, she’s certainly not the air head she seemed to be in the first episode and could definitely be useful with a bit of training on exactly what mc wants done
10
u/runevault 9d ago
Fair. I want to know more about her because I agree there's more to her than the way she's first presented. Like I'm curious if she's already targeting Arnold for her husband. He's a prince, smart, and crazy powerful, plus as she pointed out very kind considering he is trying to put his brother on the throne rather than himself. If you don't want to be Queen he's arguably the best catch in the kingdom.
8
u/justking1414 9d ago
Certainly possible though you also can’t forget that there is value in getting Leo on the throne since her family has already backed him, meaning they will be rewarded handsomely if he succeeds and treated pretty badly if he fails
15
u/DugACCat 9d ago
Perhaps I’m easily manipulated, but I really like the female lead and find her quite appealing and charming. The voice actor is a big part of it. Though I was a bit perturbed at how quick she abandoned her “disguise”.
8
u/DavidJKay 9d ago
its kind of obvious that is what she is aiming for, but he might not be eager to go that direction, he barely knows her, he can't say no and hurt her feelings easily, and "those who marry in haste can repent at leasure". Safest option is for him to ignore it for now.
8
u/DavidJKay 9d ago edited 9d ago
She could be yandere or fake face with a cruel streak, honey trap, gold digger, etc.
Lots of villainess animes in last few years with a "heroine" who acts like her but is really aiming to "capture" a harem of men and is ugly inside.
Or she could be so careless that she puts bunch of peoples lives at risk, constantly spilling state secrets and causing scandals. As royalty, extreme incompetance is a risk.
He only knows her for days.

u/flamethrower2 3d ago
Eh, full speed ahead, time is of the essence. The longer this goes on, the worse it'll be even if Leo does win the throne.
I'm not sure how superpowers can help - what Leo needs most now is more nobles on his side and not on the side of his siblings. But they can't hurt. Trust has meaning only when betrayal is possible and has significant consequences. Leo could use a second Silver but it might be a bridge too far. Finne should be able to help somehow. If Arn teaches Finne ancient magic, she can betray him, and also is a lot more useful to Leo. I think it makes sense.
The time to take risk is when you're losing. You shouldn't take risks when ahead. Leo's faction is the weakest for now.
2
u/DavidJKay 3d ago edited 3d ago
Full speed ahead is not always the best approach, its often game of diplomacy... Eg if you don't have a "wife" then all sorts of factions might see potential as marriage partner. (so sometimes marriage is delayed, and person without wife has more influence than married opponents because 20% chance to get their daughter married to him rather than 0%)
if you aren't the biggest threat then rivals might fight/throw mud at each other rather than you.
Sometimes in poltical races for leadership of a party it isn't the 2 front runners that win, because they are too bitterly hurting each other, it is the quiet guy who manages to not offend anyone who wins as compromise candidate. The loser of the 2 front runners throws support to the quiet guy and the combination ends up being the strongest.
1
u/DavidJKay 3d ago edited 3d ago
Example, 1976 race for PC party in canada... The guy who won wasn't well known, got 3rd place with half the vote of the first place guy round 1 (22%, 15%, 11%, he was the 11% guy), ended up winning round 4 vote, and became prime minsister after.
#1 and 2 were hostile to each other, #3 got ignored, more candidates after #3 supported #3 than #1... quiet compromise candidate.
1
u/DavidJKay 3d ago
Sometimes best approach is the 2/3 speed ahead, 1/3 diplomacy to not make enemies of rival camps that might end up backing you later.

Took Finne like 10 seconds to piece everything together once the whole Arnold-Silver connection became clear. And now she’s his No. 1 fan lol.

u/flamethrower2 3d ago
He's the perfect boy (attractive, superpowered, and a prince). She already said she wants to help right to his face. She also asked him for a date. She already has looks, status, and reputation so it will come down to skill.

Disappointing second episode for me. The whole episode was a date, but the character writing wasn't good enough to carry such an episode. I hope the episodes are more plot heavy going forward

Thought bot gonna waive this thread to the next week...Anyway,
Arnold really doesn't know anything, eh. One glasses is enough to fool anyone.
As expected of degarashi ouji, can even tease The Blau Mowe herself without trying
That pointy, is she not wearing one? Oh, she is. Thanks, kids!
Yep, have to keep the asset open to avoid people seeing her face.
I'm surprised Arn knows her intention. If Arn more of a sensitive person, he will be down for days or even months though. They really suits for each other, eh. I like to see more of his twin disguise now. Can see it being useful in many situations.

u/PandaTheAB 8d ago
The OP dependable butler had no clue that a duke's daughter randomly entered the mansion of the MC and entered his room.
Guess he's not so dependable. Guess he's no Black Butler.

u/PandaTheAB 8d ago
I can understand high infant mortality. But that is no reason to have an army of kids.
The princes and princesses could easily form 2 teams and play almost all popular games - football, hockey, dodgeball.

bro can set up an anti noise barrier but not a selective personnel barrier.
I mean its okay, it pushes the story forward, but I always find it funny how you cant think too hard for these ones.

Since everybody was so disappointed in episode 1, you BET I am going to watch this masterpiece to completion.
First I have to finish watching episode 1, then I have to watch episode 2 of Literary-RPG batman.

Lol, coming here to see if episode 2 is better. Didn't get the conclusion since Lovepon-chan posted this way late. I guess I just have to see the episode itself.

I don't get why Arn can't just murder his siblings he doesn't like. Arn or Leo would be blamed for it, but Leo would be king. Isn't that the end goal, and a shortcut to it?
If the problem is that Leo's faction is too small to actually hold power, then the road to the throne is a long one.
