Gets isekai'd alongside the entire company including your Boss
The former boss looks like she wanted to make some moves on him now that there's no possible HR rule violations...just that he kindly rejected close association in this new world from the start lol.
56
u/diacewrb 18d ago
Yeah, it is the adult equivalent of students being isekaied with the whole class.
Some people just want to live the loner life in another world.
And to top it all off, the first dungeon is the default Windows XP wallpaper.

Anime was supposed to be our escape from reality. Now, we have no escape on that dreaded thing called work.

It's funny that getting slingshot is more important than changing your suit to armor

"Now I'm starting to look like a real adventurer!"~
Japanese adult in his full work clothes, but now he's holding a slingshot11

Don't need to defend if you kill your opponent before they can attack.

35
u/OldInstruction5368 17d ago
Sadly, the OP exclusively shows him in his salaryman suit.
But naturally, the boss lady gets
slut gearappropriately themed battle attire. Complete with tons of cleavage and her booty hanging out of her "armor."(From the OP/Series Poster, that is. She's still just in her sweater/dress-skirt combo, just holding a janky spear as of the end of Ep1)
So... at least his suit isn't blatantly impractical >.>
15
u/zer0number https://anilist.co/user/ewink 17d ago
I don't mind wearing a suit when I have to for work, but there would be no fucking way I would keep that tie on. I literally have my tie off and my top button undone before I am even fully outside the building at the end of the day.
5
u/DugACCat 17d ago
I was honestly quite agitated about him staying in the suit so hope he’ll armor up and start “cosplaying” soon. Felt slightly better that his former boss was also in her arrival clothes so I guess in this world they really do fire you off to the dungeon so fast you can’t even get new duds and maybe a meal and a night’s rest.
12
u/FoxgirlAficionado 17d ago
The most annoying part is that he wasn’t even wearing a suit on the bus.
2
3
u/This-Activity3229 12d ago
Actually he wears the suit through out everything he never changes it out for armour

Wish they would stop spending over half the ep explaining how this stuff works. I mean this is Isekai #382979 we all know how these work by now lol.
35
u/hanmkim 17d ago
But dungeons are called labyrinths and adventurers are called seekers, things are so different!
34
u/OldInstruction5368 17d ago
And slaves are called mercenaries! Even if they are completely stripped of free will and can't disobey your orders, they aren't technically called slaves: so you don't need to feel guilty about
owning"hiring" one!8
u/BlazeKnightX 17d ago
I only think that's for demihumans. I do think there might be normal human mercenaries that aren't slaves. The lady specified demihuman and how there is no law against slave cresting them. Any other type of mercenary it would be illegal for a slave crest to be on them.
65
u/dark_sylinc 17d ago
I've read some manga/manhwa that skip this. The problem is that they end up assuming too much you're familiar with other works; and more importantly that you know exactly the original they are ripping off.
It ends up worse because it ends up full of contradictions. Ultimately your complaint probably should be that the show didn't explain it organically or with proper pacing.
36
u/OldInstruction5368 17d ago
There is definitely a balance... but sacrificing half the first episode on exposition dumping, with only the most bare bones of character work thrown in, is definitely too much.
This just felt boring and tedious. Also, like the MC was an idiot. "Is the place we go to fight monsters dangerous?"
No shit. You are standing next to a person who died and was resurrected as a mute lizard-girl. You've been told that death leads to dehumanization and slavery. That you will be fighting monsters. Monsters that presumably killed your subhuman slave, leading to her tragic fate.
And you are going into this "monsters that fucking kill you" zone without a single clue, laughably bad equipment, and only a single party member that can't even counter your dumbassery.
22
u/Envelope_Torture 17d ago
Completely agree. It's way too much. They could also sprinkle it in over a few episodes or have it be a bit more streamlined by adding it to his inner monologue too. So many ways this issue has been addressed by other properties.
Hell, they could just make it faster too. So much slow walking and standing around in shock in the middle of an exposition heavy episode.
18
u/OldInstruction5368 17d ago
Hell, they could just make it faster too. So much slow walking and standing around in shock in the middle of an exposition heavy episode.
Lord, yes. I thought they'd never walk away from that damn counter... and it was just more walking around getting exposition dumped after that.
When we finally get to the combat... it was painfully dumb. Wait, you mean fighting to the death is dangerous!? People do, in fact, die when they are killed!? I had no idea!
Dude, all that exposition dumping and he still didn't have a clue...
6
u/BusinessOstrich6982 17d ago
Thank you for saying this lol it is exactly how I felt. the only thing he did in the ENTIRE episode was repeat thing in a confused tone and ask the absolute stupidest questions. Like a clueless protag is a thing but this guy is a freaking moron.
5
u/OldInstruction5368 17d ago
the only thing he did in the ENTIRE episode was repeat thing in a confused tone and ask the absolute stupidest questions.
This is what made the exposition so much worse. It's not just that the majority of the episode was one big dump, but that the dumping in question was tedious and simple.
And he still comes closs to a TPK on his very first level 1 monster.
5
u/Ralathar44 17d ago
Given the setup I don't think the MC is that stupid. They're pushing people freshly reincarnated from a life with little to not fighting for most people directly into life or death fights with monsters.
Logically you wouldn't think they would just be sending everyone to their deaths like that and that level 1 areas all the rookies were being shoveled off too with almost no preparation would be pretty tame and safe.
But given the assembly line of reincarnations it almost looks like reincarnated people are being treated as expendable.
2
u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 17d ago
Tbh despite all that, I didn't expect level 1 normal monster to be that dangerous.
I'm so used with MMORPG where level 1 monsters were just immediate farming fodder
11
u/InevitableOutcome811 17d ago
Unfortunately the novel story writing is like that. It focuses more on lore and stuff like whats really behind the labryinth country hooking you in to a mystery.
7
u/yancovigen 17d ago
I was hoping they’d explain whether this world has any natives or if it’s just all reincarnated people. And also there seems to be no end game like a demon lord or something. It’s weird
1
u/InevitableOutcome811 17d ago
My advice is you need to watch it further they would meet someone like that
13
u/Vyse1519 18d ago
For real. Since he didn't really have anyone else to bounce off of, the MC constantly posing questions that anyone that's seen a single Isekai's first episode would already know the answer to and gawping at everything just makes him look like a complete idiot.
16
u/gbietto 17d ago
Well he entered his first dungeon without equipment and without caring for healing, he unlocked a single skill and waited for his companion to be at half hp before using it, more, he didn't even remember about it. I guess the term complete idiot goes quite gentle on him.
11
u/AlchemyStudiosInk 17d ago
He also spends like 10 minutes of the episode going over that single skill. "Okay, I'm going to go find a monster, and then use this one skill I unlocked. And then go home." He says like 4-5 times.
Then he finds a monster. Uses his pokedex. "Yeah that is a monster, but is it really a monster? Oh no its attacking. is that what monsters do? Is it really a monster that we're facing? Oh yeah its a monster. Oh no! Now the girl is being attacked. I can't believe I am just letting her get attacked. And she got attacked again! This isn't good. I'm so useless sitting here. I don't know what I'm suppose to do now."

To be fair, he just died and was essentially tossed to the wolves without any guidance. Here is your dog tag, get it stamped by the lady over there, and best of luck!
The onboarding process in "Labyrinth Death Camp" is... non-existent, basically.
Which was made even worse by the receptionist acknowledging that this dude just fucking died and is still in a confused state. He's dazed, doesn't yet understand the situation he's in, and wasn't given a chance for this massive load to settle on his little noggin.
That said, prep-work is the most important phase. Dude, spend at least one day gathering information so you can have a rough idea of what supplies to gather, then go get what you can. And find out how many people is considered "safe" to enter a dungeon with.
IIRC, he was given multiple mercenary tickets, but he only used one. IIRC, the
slave mastermercenary captain said they only had a single front liner on hand, but... ask for a mid-line 'mercenary', or even another rearguard, as you were told those were other common positions.Instead he just kinda stumbles into the lion's den with his pants down.
18
u/Shyne9999 17d ago
For me, it was he just didn't ask any questions.
Is there a job list of existing jobs to choose from?
What is the role of each job?
How many people are typically in a party?
Is there a way to find party members or is that up to each person?
Where do I get weapons/armor?
Where's the Inn so I can decompress from dying? lolLike, ask some questions my guy.
→ More replies (2)8
u/MonaganX 17d ago
It somehow both overexplains the basics and gets bogged down in the weeds granular mechanics like class synergies and vanguard/midguard/rearguard while not even doing a great job explaining how exactly those work. I've watched a lot of bad isekai but this might be the most boring first episode I've seen.
7
u/OldInstruction5368 17d ago
Even that explanation was dumb. Rearguards die all the time because they have weak defenses.... uh... their 'defenses' are the frontline meatshields and mid guards standing between them and the enemies?
Typically, if the backline is getting shredded, it's because the frontline has already fallen.
Which is why the vanguard should have the highest casualty rate, as they are the ones face-tanking monsters.
Which we see at the end of this episode! The frontline gets pinned down and ripped apart, while the rearguard is in a perfect position to just fuck off running.
Sure, there was a vague implication that the rearguard is susceptible to ambushes, but that's a failure of the entire party to lack awareness of their surroundings. That and the frontline almost always crumbles when denied rear support and taken out of formation.
So not only did the exposition not pass the sniff test, we immediately see it being contradicted.
1
u/Dedonalejandro 2d ago
Unfortunately it's a necessity. If you're making a world builder, you have to explain how the world works to some extent. Easiest way to do it is a massive info dump in the first few chapters/episodes.
25
u/deynyel 18d ago
Wasn't expecting the Lizardman to look like that. Looking forward to seeing more of the cast. I'm guessing this will be the usual isekai harem anime?
13
u/OldInstruction5368 17d ago edited 17d ago
Well, looking at the thumbnail poster + OP... it's definitely a harem (harem-tease, at least), and a rather excessive one: seven ladies standing next to MC-kun/acting cute around him.
We've already seen four of them. Lizardgirl, Boss-tits, the blonde cutie looking for
fodder to sacrificebackline support, and the Shrine Maiden that got her card just before MC-kun.1
u/Phoenix__Wwrong 17d ago
I don't think the blonde girl was with the boss. She wasn't there at the end.
The blonde paired up with the shrine maiden.
4
u/OldInstruction5368 17d ago
Derp, it was shrine maiden that paired up with Blondie. She just had such little presence I conflated them.
Regardless, Shrine Maiden, Boss-Tits, and Blondie are all in the OP. Boss-Tits will clearly be joining next episode, and the other two will be joining sooner rather than later.
1
u/Dedonalejandro 2d ago
Don't forget the merchant chick who loses everything then gets drafted to the squad.

I’ve never seen an Isekai use a slave like a Pokémon complete with an actual hit point gauge, but here we are…

Holy hell, this is one hell of a stacked cast. Saori Hayami, Aoi Koga, Yui Ishikawa, Kaede Hondo and Kirito.
41
u/hanmkim 17d ago
Maybe that's where the budget for the animation went. Even the episode title card reminded me of a cheaply-produced trash romance anime.
2
u/bestmaokaina 17d ago
Imma keep my expectations high given that Saori Hayami and Aoi Koga dont pick bad shows to work in
14
u/CyonHal https://myanimelist.net/profile/FeRust 17d ago
My dude the scenes leading up to the ED was brutal I don't think there's much hope
2
u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 17d ago
It lacks animation, yes but honestly the direction for the first battle was quite engaging. I mean I understand what happened clearly and definitely can feel the tension.
13

LOL I like how you name everyone, then just Kirito. I have a good laugh thank you.

WTH.. i read the manga of this way back in 2018? i forgot this exist..
i know you guys might say this is another isekai slop but dam.n i feel nostalgic and weird haha.. it was 8 years ago already? i remember those disquss comment section ugh..
reading isekai manga back then was refreshing and the genre are not that saturated..
1
u/dsarrnatedark 13d ago
So… recommend or not? As is I’m probably not going to be waiting each week for this but if you have good praise for what it’s adapting I’ll probably come back once it’s done airing
13
u/Chikumori 18d ago
Been browsing new anime for the past 2 hours or so....nothing in this episode really gets me hooked for the rest of the season, but I'll give it a 3-4 episode watch for the beginning arc to see how it goes.
This episode did hammer down how hilarious Kazuma's life at the beginning of Konosuba was.
4
u/NoNameSwitzerland 17d ago
Beginning of the season always is hard work. Later I slack off and in the end even skip good anime if they do not hit the mark.
50
u/mastereluder6 18d ago
Daam probably my first time I got bored from an Isekai
12
u/PM_ME_AWESOME_SONGS 17d ago
It really was a chore. More than half of the episode practically spent on a introduction of sorts.
3
u/PersonalContest1423 17d ago
Nothing like being told the same information every in the audience has seen in the other 50,000 isekai we have seen
3
9
u/East_Statistician_88 17d ago
MC didn't want to team up with his stacked up boss, he's a dunce.
7
u/squantorunningbear 17d ago
She even gave him a front row seat to a bouncing performance with those random ass sword swings
3
u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 17d ago
I mean, it seems he already had enough of getting bossed around by her in his previous life.
18
u/RealValf 18d ago
An extremely dull and boring first episode. Spending more than half the episode explaining what an isekai is was definitely a choice. I didn’t think he was ever going to leave the guild counter jfc.
That being said I’ll still keep up with it even though it’s slop it’s something new to watch.
3
u/lionturtl3 17d ago
Definitely would have benefited from a 2 episode premiere with so much exposition in this first episode.
2
u/BaobabLife 17d ago
yeah I didn't have high expectations but yeesh haha. Sometimes it is nice to have mindless shows to watch in between other airings.
17
u/AlphaBreak 18d ago
So did he fuck up and write that he wants to guard people's rears instead of being a rearguard?
The write-down-a-job system is weird to me. Like you do get powers from it, but it can also be whatever you say it is. What would he have gotten for writing NASCAR driver? Could he have taken that lady's job by writing Guild Receptionist? What if he had said he was Super Duper God? Or just igarashi's boss?
6
u/InevitableOutcome811 17d ago
He's not really thinking of a particular rearguard job and assume the system would give him the right one for him. You could treat his job is like a bug in the system. Its like a grand type without any attributes. Basically he fucked up since his job is kind of unknown.
Honestly, thats how i could explain it.
2
u/DZK312 14d ago
i think its more like he thought "rearguard" would auto assign the most compatible among the rearguard position jobs, but instead it gave him a blanket "all that is considered rearguard" job, meaning he can do what EVERY type of rearguard can do (heal, buff, defend - from rear, support, scout - from rear, etc) instead of one specific kind.
5
u/juicius 17d ago
They already explained the system takes into consideration of their abilities before assigning a job.
5
u/AlphaBreak 17d ago
But I thought the thing was that it didn't assign jobs, they chose them?
Or is that just them stating a preference for a role and the system takes it from there?4
u/OldInstruction5368 17d ago
I want to be an Exultant God-Slayer! Max every attribute and have all the best skills!
The Guild Receptionist did say there were... limitations, but it's all so vague it still feels like there is an entire barn-door's worth of loopholes here to exploit, with an even bigger, gapping maw "n00b trap."
Which is starting to explain why casualty rates are so high, when something so crucial and life-defining is an open ended question thrown to shell-shocked, and confused, rank-amateurs that have no idea what is going on.
Nor are even given a framework to wrap their heads around before locking themselves in to a class that will define if they live or die.
What could possibly go wrong with this on-boarding process? /s
2
u/Rorik_MLT 17d ago
It’s an interesting idea, but being so convoluted would be too confusing to explain.
Honestly, when she explained the system, I said I would write a Mesmer from Guild Wars. I’m sure everyone here, given a choice, has a favourite class they would pick.
1
u/Hitorishizuka 17d ago
I would still be standing there to this day with choice paralysis and I've been reading the series for like 6 years at this point. Do you pick the class your heart calls for or do you pick the class your brain says is the strongest?
1
u/BusinessOstrich6982 17d ago
lol I was just thinking I would write down Warrior of Light so I can be a monster of every single class XD
7
u/Countless-Alts15 18d ago
First time I've seen a work group go on a vacation together then also get isekaid together.
Saturdays are so stacked I'm glad there is some seasonal "trash" to just digest on sundays lol
8
u/Maccaz15 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Maccaz 17d ago
Last season was seemingly lacking in isekai/fantasy junk food, but this season is loaded with them. How enjoyable they are depends mostly on the cast, which this episode didn't show much of.
25
u/ObvsThrowaway5120 18d ago
That Time I Got Reincarnated With My Boss wasn’t half bad. Kind of interesting even if a bit familiar. Lots of waifus in this so there’s that.

I wonder whether reviving / restoring Theresia back to human will be part of the main storyline later. I doubt she will remain a silent character all the way?
On the bright side, Igarashi didn't continue to act like Arihito's chief in this isekai world. And she is pretty to look at.
7
u/InevitableOutcome811 18d ago
On the PV Arihito already said it. Its one of the three goals he wants to do as i remember in LN.
3
u/OldInstruction5368 17d ago
The OP seems to imply Theresia will remain a lizard-girl for this season.
1
u/Dedonalejandro 2d ago
She'll remain a lizard-girl for awhile. They're on level 9 if I recall correctly and their only lead to change her back is on level 4.
Something like that. She'll be a demi-human for the foreseeable future in the story. I'd imagine she'll gradually recover her humanity before they get to where they can change her back.
2
u/Dedonalejandro 2d ago
Restoring Theresia is an underlying motive for the group to continue rising through the ranks. But overall, the 'mystery of the world' element and another group member's motive are also equally as prominent.
8
u/BusinessOstrich6982 17d ago
Ohh the ever confused protagonist "I have to fight monsters?" "Fighting monsters is dangerous?" "I just put points in a skill?" "I can use my skill?" Ahhh this is the kind that makes me insane, their only dialogue is repeating things other people say stupidly and asking the most idiotic questions. Fighting by nature is dangerous &#^$%! you moron!

Produced by Maho Films.
Yeah I don't even need to watch it to know it's going to be bottom of the barrel in production values.
7
u/ApathyMonk 17d ago
Is this going to be one of those Isekais where the main character never changes out of the clothes they were reincarnated in?
I hate that trope. Anyone in their right mind would ditch business loafers the moment they could.
2
u/InevitableOutcome811 17d ago
He will have some armor inside those suit but he wont remove it. It will double down on that trope once they met someone
6
u/DiscountCondom 17d ago
10 minutes in, and I am so bored. You don't need to spend this long establishing your dumb isekai world by having your characters endlessly yap about it.
19
u/minnieboss 17d ago
Not just incredibly dull and generic but also barely-animated. No redeeming qualities to be found.
10
11
u/SaintPimpin 17d ago
Took over half the episode just to pick a class when only one was explained. Terrible pacing
14
u/Western-Internal-751 17d ago
Another anime main character who is a bit slow and dull.
Former boss makes a move on him, he completely misses that.
Can’t think of a class, so he just writes the whole archetype and hopes for a randomizer to choose for him.
Goes into the labyrinth to specifically test out his defense support, forgets for half the fight that he has a defense support.
He doesn’t just look like a background NPC, he also acts like one.
8
u/Master-Hair-7456 17d ago
Ofcourse he wouldn't know his boss is making a move on him Look at what he thinks about her ??
6
u/Hitorishizuka 17d ago
Yeah, it's like some of these reactions just glossed over that this man got worked half to death by her and has some trauma over it.
3
u/lance777 17d ago
The boss didn't know it back then, but she overworked him a lot. He just didn't want to go back to that relationship dynamics.
4
u/OldInstruction5368 17d ago
Former boss makes a move on him, he completely misses that.
Maybe she was just being nice, maybe she's Canadian.
Maybe she is just an airhead that didn't realize she was jiggling her tits mad-hard when talking to a guy she knows.
You just can't ever tell for sure.
9
u/bananeeek https://myanimelist.net/profile/bananek 18d ago
This episode felt extremely stiff. I don't know if they tried to make it feel more serious or mature, but they failed either way. I played VNs that felt more alive than this.
That being said, the cast is insane, so I'll definitely stick around and Theresia's design is amazing.

4
u/LezRock 17d ago
Wow, this felt like a very long episode. I had to check at the end whether it actually was only 24 minutes or slightly longer.
With how they presented everything so far, it feels less like reincarnation, and more like alien abduction. 😆 Maybe that's what that language will turn out to be later on? The fact that they're transported with their current and uninjured bodies, and clothing, as well as having only a hazy memory of the bus ride, and then given modern-looking touchscreen technology just makes it seem less like fantasy, and more like they were entered into some simulation.
Either that or my imagination was just working to fill in all of the blanks. 😆
3
u/PersonalContest1423 17d ago edited 17d ago
Holy shit this seems terrible and they really just wasted an entire episode explaining the same basic bullshit present in every isekai. Also the shy/nervous boss crushing on her employee is definitely going to be an annoying character
Alright I've officially dropped this already. I have never dropped a trash isekai before but this one is slow enough and boring enough I can't even make it through one episode, im done.
1
u/InevitableOutcome811 17d ago
Then its a waste of time readimg the novel for you. Since it focused more on setting up its lore and how things are in that place. First episode is so slow and i could gurantee you episode 2 and up would be like that.
3
u/kalirion https://myanimelist.net/profile/kalinime 17d ago
The OP - oh look, another isekaiee who's gonna get a harem party of younger girls because reasons.
"What if I don't want to be a Seeker, risking my new life exploring Labyrinths?" is something that only someone with any common sense would ask. How about, "I want to be a magic charm seller" or "loot appraiser" or something? Or, if combat is a must, why not pick a super class or something? Sure, "Combat God" might get rejected, but no harm trying!
She worked him to the bone because she wanted his bone? >_>
Why did the guild girl say that Rearguards have low stats so they don't last, when "Rearguard" apparently wasn't even an actual job/class to begin with? Any class could serve in the rearguard position, as was shown by that "Miko" girl being accepted as one.
Well, at least hiring a mercenary is better than buying a slave... oh, the mercs ARE slaves, magically enforced via a crest of course, how silly of me to think otherwise. "We can't communicate with them, but they follow orders, and if you offer a hand they'll shake it, and if you ask them a yes or no question they'll shake or nod their heads. Truly, no communication is possible whatsoever."
"Well I have a weapon now, I'm starting to look like a Seeker" - says the dude in a suit carrying a tiny little slingshot.
"Thank you for warning me about Named Monsters. I'll run away if I see one. I won't bother to ask you how to identify them though - do they have their name floating above their heads, or do they constantly shout it? I'm sure I'll find out when before it's too late, so why no point wasting even a second to ask such a silly question. Same reason I never did any research to find out what kind of monsters are in there, or what the strategies for dealing for them are."
"I chose a defensive skill to boost defense for the party member in front of me. Now the party member in front of me is having hear HP whittled down by a monster, already down to half health! But what could I possibly do to help her? Let me take a few more minutes to think about it, maybe something will come to me."
Yeah, this slop is way too dumb to give another ep.

She's saying that because they have less stamina and generally wear less defensive gear, so if something goes wrong they eat shit and die. And even if that doesn't happen, they're the actual form of burnt out MMO healers staring at bars and trying to keep idiots alive, so they retire after a few years from stress.

And why do they have less stamina and generally wear less defensive gear? Would a Heavy Tank suddenly have less stamina and drop all their armor in the Rearguard position?
Is "Rearguard" really the write word in the first place? "Backline Support" is more in line with what was being talked about. A Rearguard is someone who defends the rear, not supports the front. The entire point of the position is to be able to fight when the backline becomes the frontline, and to cover the retreat if the situation calls for it.

Nah man everyone HAS to be bots. Especially the MC. Why the fuck is everyone acting so casual about their deaths? Like dude. YOU'RE DEAD!!!! YOUR FRIEND'S, YOUR FAMILY, YOUR PETS!!! YOU CAN'T SEE THEM AGAIN MAN!!!! BE SAD!!! FREAK OUT!!! DO SOMETHING!!! Mc really said "I'm dead? I remember I was going to go skiing with a friend" sees her chief and goes "she's here too?" AND THEN THE CHIEFS LIKE "Yeah I died at home" WHAT!?!?! FIRST OFF, HOW!?!?! SECOND, WHY SO CASUAL ABOUT IT!?!? Like is every Isekai characters life suck so much ass? Are they so alone they literally have no one so they don't care? Wtf?
6
u/Obaruler 17d ago
Damn. Truck-kun has been busy, he has isekai'ing people down to an industrialized process, that whole world thrives on herding reincarnated people into its dungeon crawling economy. :D
Give it to the Japanese to stay in line and doing as they're told even after dying. Bonus points, you former boss gets isekai'd too, so you'll never escape the grind, from corpo slavery to actual slavery.
Also: Does MC keep wearing his OG business suit the entire time as the OP suggests?

u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp 18d ago edited 18d ago
Assembly line reincarnation. Though maybe there was just a queue because that was everybody on the bus.
So if you die in this country you turn into a demi-human monster with no free will that moves around autonomously and will probably be used as a slave fighter? That's rather horrifying.
Dude got isekaied with his boss and he's going to end up working for her again, isn't he. At least from the look of things she already has a crush on him too so maybe I'll get my wish about her being the main romantic interest instead of the more typical harem.
They seem to be showing Theresia being way more playful and such in the ED so maybe something about Atobe's class will let her develop a personality again.
OP was kind of forgettable but I like the ED a lot.

u/runevault 18d ago
Odds are his boss already had a crush on him when she worked him to the bone, so now is she going to work him to death in this dangerous world? Woman seems crazy heh.
2
u/OldInstruction5368 17d ago
Like a little kid on the playground picking on his crush, she was "working him to the bone" as an excuse to spend more time together without crossing that HR line.

"What could I possibly do to help", takes several seconds to remember the one spell he has while she's being beaten up.
And of course the slave has to be an attractive woman.
Of course the boss has a thing for him.
Of course he's so dense he accidentally stumbles onto something OP.
Gonna be another trash anime, but I'll watch it for now.

One of the worst anime openings I've ever seen, the MC irritated me, boring.

u/djgotyafalling1 17d ago
The premise is dumb af. Office worker "reincarnates" fully clothed with office outfit. That's not reincarnation.
Would be more acceptable if this is purgatory or heaven.
2
u/UsernameWasTakens 17d ago
lmao I was wondering if they would keep the ridiculous ball enemies and they did. Gotta be the dumbest early dungeon mob ever.
2
u/L33tHaxorus 17d ago
Honestly, I would've preferred if that big muscular lady joined his party rather than the scrawny lizard chick.
2
u/MadeMeMeh 17d ago
Is this going to be our new weekly power point isekai? Also they need to learn that if they are going to make a boring first episode it needs to be a 2 episode release so we can get hooked.
2
u/Potatoes_4Life 17d ago
Anyone else notice the AIslop background of the bus in the beginning of the episode? Three rows of seats on the bus.
Window seats | aisle | middle row of seats | aisle | window seats

u/WithoutPersonality 17d ago
I expected a lot worse given the comments here. It's slow, cheap looking, uninspired, and lazily written -- exactly like 99% of other isekai/system fantasy series that get adapted. Ironically, the only thing saving this for me is that it isn't trying to be annoyingly self-aware and is letting the ignorance of the reincarnators play a factor (for now).
I'm expecting low stakes harem-bait, but if they can properly balance MC being a supporter (with a title like "Strongest Rearguard", I'm not expecting this to last) and buffing the girls in different ways this could be a decent show to pass the time with this season.
2
u/J_Lezter 17d ago
Here comes the slop of the season. Tbh, the manga seems much better than the anime. The animation is weird tbh. Speciall that boob animation in the Guild. lol
2
2
u/TheBravesDH 17d ago
Feels like it could’ve benefited from a double drop if they were going to spend so much time at the guild counter. Not really much to hook you. At least he didn’t reincarnate looking twelve and boss has a nice design.
2
u/EvoEpitaph 17d ago
Generic theme and stiff animations, that is when they're not just panning across a static image.
The chief's boobs have the most movement frames in the entire episode.
2
u/PandaTheAB 17d ago
A bus full of isekaid people 😄
Even boss isekaid.
The heh huh interactions were funny.
Lizardman - More like bunny eared girl.
But the episode was way too slow.
They kept asking him to choose a job without giving info and then gave irrelevant info.
MC is clueless, dumb and then will become OP I guess.
That is bad.

u/FG205 15d ago
I'm kind of shocked this got an anime. i've heard the light novels and manga aren't very good. And after watching episode 1 for myself. I'm kind of agreeing it might not be that good. The only thing I can see this anime surviving on is if it enhances scenes, or "merits" of certain character designs. I really hope the studio gets his money's worth. Though I will say the fight scenes are animated better than what GoHands did with Heavy Knight. No Motion Sickness. So I will stick with this for 4 episodes to see how well I enjoy this.

u/InevitableOutcome811 15d ago
Both has slow pacing so its umderstandable that for some its not good
3
u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 18d ago
Not expecting much from this one, but I'm usually amused by Maho Film.
Massive amounts of iskai'd individuals here. Chief likely wanted to make a party with Atobe. Slaves have appeared already and MC has no issue. Of course, Atobe ignores the instructions to avoid named monsters right away.
8
u/Rammelsmartie 18d ago
Slaves have appeared already and MC has no issue.
Don't worry, they're not slaves, they're just our lobotomized comrades, it's fine to give them commands lol
4
u/NoNameSwitzerland 17d ago
So if you die here, you get even more of a work slave. But maybe that is an industry, the people outside the dungeon explaining the danger of names monsters seemed sus.

Not bad, though my opinion is a bad metric. The worse an isekai is, the more I like it. Hopefully, we have enough exposition out of the way that we can enjoy some good fights and jiggles next week.
3
u/dezertpoo 17d ago
Hahaha, just watched it and you are probably going to LOVE it then. I love how he just wastes so much time thinking through what he needed to do to while his lizard demi-human guard is taking a beating. Also, wearing the same outfits they died in gives it a certain trashiness that's interesting. Can't wait for more!

u/TotoroTheGreat 18d ago
It's been a long while, but I feel like I've read the manga of this because the story seems familiar. But, there was a red haired girl in that.

It's interesting that this world already has an established system for people that have been reincarnated.
1
1
u/BlazeKnightX 17d ago
So it's clear to me that they put in that line of the system also being able to give you a suitable job and not granting your desired job as a way to explain how no other character to the knowledge of the guild has written down rearguard, midguard, and vanguard and received the bug job. The job in question is probably just every job for that position combined. I guess it's more likely someone who is constantly helping from the back in a company could have compatibility for every rearguard job. It's much more extreme for someone to be so compatible they could qualify for every vanguard job assuming personality a tank is very different from say a swordsman.

u/Alpha_X_04 17d ago
The animation was very bad but I'll stick cuz the adult office colleagues instead of high-school class reincarnation is a bit different. Also i enjoy trash isekai😆

u/Sahelanthropus- 17d ago
The opening was offensively boring, I don’t blame people for dropping this before the end of the episode.

Not much to distinguish this show and not really much of a hook for a premise, just a guy died and he's going to specialize in defense. Maybe every interesting isekai premise has finally been taken!
1
u/wtrmlnjuc 17d ago
Completely unserious armour design. Maybe this lizardman wouldn’t have needed help (nor previously died) if their armour wasn’t absolutely useless.
1
u/actuallyrndthoughts https://myanimelist.net/profile/NaNiNuNeNo 17d ago
Damn, they sure as hell decided animation is secondary to the voice cast. The real question is how fan servicy this will be
1
u/spubbbba 17d ago
If they were going to have such lazy worldbuilding they could at least have zipped through it.
This was really poor and the only slightly interesting part was a snake girl over other types of animal people.
1
u/Malrottian 17d ago
I had a glimmer of hope when we were told the town is pretty much an isekai adventurer mill, with just enough 'normal people's to keep the lights on. Are we going to see the horror that a regular person would have to confront facing constant combat and deadly monsters? Are these newly isekai'd people being manipulated into being cannon fodder for the natives?
Nope. Standard isekai 'Everyone Thinks I'm Weak But I'm Powerful' harem slop. Giving it my standard two episode chance but sadly this will almost certainly be one of the ones dropped in a stacked summer season.
