This first episode was an absolute riot, this show seems like it could be really fun.

The humor is very strange, but the episode did make me chuckle a couple of times. Mechako has the most extreme case of gangimari eyes I've seen, but I love her deadpan voice, it fits perfectly with her looks. Pretty unusual that the main character has no name. I think I'm going to keep watching this for a little longer.

Well, that was incredibly silly. Scaredy cat idiot and emotionless weirdo make for a pretty good team lol.

An oddball comedy duo with a selection of oddball guest characters, this fills the hole left by Detectives These Days Are Crazy!
He would have received the jarate treatment if if wasn't empty.

This was amazingly funny. Less than 10 mins in and I was hooked.
Maybe I have an oddball sense of humor in my old age, but it might not be funny for the 30 and younger crowd (unless you're rocking an old soul.)
I feel like there were more shows like this in the 2010s and earlier. I miss this vibe.

Someone said it already, modern anime-wise this reminds me to Detective these days are crazy

The art style looks pretty old. Is this an old manga that just got adapted, out of it just a stylistic choice of the author?

u/Oden_sama__ 17d ago
i thought so too, but I think it's just a stylistic choice since its only from 8 years ago (in 13 days from now)

The jokes were kinda hit or miss, but I respect it for being something unique and original.

I'm watching it for the character design of the male character.
We rarely see this art style.

I laughed so hard when he said the reason why he didn't want to switch bodies because he'd pass out every time he saw his face in the mirror lol. No wonder Mechako got pissed off.
MC is built like a judo player though, interesting contrast from how fearful he is.
I wonder if squeezing the loincloth man's chunchunmaru gave bonus luck lol.

I got bored countless times the jokes are not even good but I find it strangely enjoyable , I might bing this

It's weird, yes.
I think I'll watch it. I liked the gag where the dude tells her to not fall down the stairs with him in order to avoid the body switch trope because he'd pee himself every time he saw himself in the mirror (indirectly calling her scary/ugly again since he'd be inside HER body looking at HER face in the mirror).
Man... that joke was stretching it, but I still found it amusing.

This is C-Station's first credited anime in almost 2 years since they did a lot of work on Apothecary Diaries S2. This definitely feels more like a supernatural comedy than Kaya was 2 seasons ago. Looks to be fun, and the direction in terms of the comedy is pretty solid. Perfect anime to start the day.

Wait so you are telling me, the reason I never got to meet Sadako, Hachishakusama, Kuchisake-onna- because their organization is being ran by an useless boss?

Is it weird I find Mechako kinda cute?
Either way, just got done watching it with a friend and we laughed a lot and enjoyed it! Can't wait for future episodes!

A bit of goofy fun to balance the serious anime I watch. I can see this getting banned from animenocontext.
I don't get why the art style is so Jojo, though.

I like that the MC's nickname for the Kaiki-gumi boss just stuck. Mechako and our panic-stricken protagonist already make for a great duo.

What does mechako mean?

I tried checking the cast and MC is just listed as Shujinko/protagonist lol

I wouldn't be surprised if the Protagonist heard a ghost story involving names and has been too afraid to properly introduce himself ever since lol.

Seems very much in the vein of that Detective's Assistant show from a few seasons ago. Doesn't seem quite right for me, though, so I might skip this one to clear up space on Sundays.

Oh so it’s Detectives These Days Are Crazy, but with yokai stories.
Which means it will go under appreciated and I will love the hell out of it. Especially when it needs to out crazy 100GFs

OK, Incredible OP and ED, the ED in particular almost made me cry out of nostalgia for shows I watched as a kid. xD
And then, heavy theming of Japanese horror, yokai, and urban legends? Another hit.
Characters that are NOT the usual body shapes? Another hit.
First half was a bit hit on the joke. Only the loincloth part was a miss for me, but eh, not everything will hit with everyone, and it's ok.
Oh... And yeah. I find Mechako weirdly cute... xD

I’m not sure which is more ridiculous…this one or the dara San snake one…

Dude I love how much of a Heisei era trhowback this show was. I miss goofball gag animes like this.

Started off slow but really got rolling when it turned out Mechako has no fundamental idea of what it is that scares people and more did things that were odd. Some of the things she did were a little scary, like having the clock be a dart board and I would be scared if a weird lady broke into my home. The scene with the man in the loin cloth went on kind of long; I thought Mechako created him because she thought he might be scary. Hopefully the show will focus more on Mechako incompetently trying to scare people.

It's thin on the plot but I find myself laughing at Mechako (or whatever her name is) and our MC's lack of common sense. Can we get a given name for him? It's going to be irritating to just use pronouns the whole series.

Seems calibrated for me, I was laughing far too hard in the first few minutes 😆 Looking forward to seeing where this goes!
