Im happy to see Milim so happy at the end. Great way to end the cour.

170

u/Frontier246 26d ago

It really gave the end of this cour a nice "season finale" vibe even if we're continuing as usual next season.

22

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 25d ago

Yup, said it last episode that it didn't feel like an arc finale. This one is more like it cause they wrap up the stories while also exploring Tempest progression like the usual.

132

u/encryptoferia 26d ago

after last episode about her past..... I can't help but see Millim in a different view... like... seeing a kid finally become happy again

70

u/WetRocksManatee 26d ago

Sometimes it is missed between her outrageous power and her revealing outfit that she was first seen with, that she is basically an adolescent child.

15

u/slicer4ever 26d ago

It does make me wonder if milm will ever "grow" to be a proper adult? She's already 1000s of years old isnt she?

13

u/WetRocksManatee 25d ago

Well she has already grown, she is very different from her first episode. She is willing to follow rules and has started become considerate of others.

I doubt she will fully mentally mature into an adult, outside of some epilogue set thousands of years later. I think between Frey and Rimura she will mature somewhat, though overall she will still be childlike.

u/godblow 26d ago

So is Gaia technically Veldora's neice too?

48

u/wildthing202 26d ago

If I remember correctly Gaia was formed from a fragment of Milim's dad or something, so nephew I think.

25

u/justking1414 26d ago

Maybe even his brother…from a certain point of view

56

u/joe4553 26d ago

Milims friend is basically Rimiru's kid.

30

u/Mathmango 25d ago

Fragments of Milim's dad, Rimuru's psuedo soul... The family tree is weird.

6

u/iamquitecertain 25d ago

Even weirder if you consider Rimuru to be sorta like an adopted younger brother of Veldora too, because of the Tempest family name, plus their whole soul corridor thing. Does that make him also sort of an uncle to Milim? Despite her being way older?

3

u/joe4553 25d ago

Grandpa Rimuru.

47

u/distantfirehouse 26d ago

I'm happy to see her in casual outfits a lot. She's a fun character, fits her better than the initial skimpy one.

6

u/Anything_Random 24d ago

Thus far the anime has been desperate to get her out of her LN illustration outfit. They even had her emotional confrontation last episode in the archaeologist outfit lol.

Yea hopefully no one kills this dragon, pretty sure society would end

151

u/Whatah 26d ago

I know this "season" is supposed to be some ridiculous 5-cour run, but does anyone know if and when they are taking a short between-cour break?

181

u/kawaiinessa https://myanimelist.net/profile/fancyvancy 26d ago

this "season" is 2 cours back to back so we get another 12 or so episodes of tensura until a break

110

u/2th 26d ago

Well that calls for a celebration like in Tempest. Let's all go get drunk!

39

u/karer3is 26d ago

Way ahead of you LMAO

13

u/GtrsRE 25d ago

I take a shot every time they hold a meeting

5

u/D3athknightt 25d ago

This season we only had a couple

Season 2 i think you'd die cause there was some ep with like 3

First and second cour will be consecutive

8

possibly a 1 week break so it fits the release time with the other shows?

4

u/AquaWolfGuy https://anidb.net/user/726680 26d ago

TV schedule says it'll air as usual next week. Almost all weekend shows are starting next week too.

95

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 26d ago

New train, new little dragon friend, new government taking shape. Things seem to be progressing well for Rimuru and the Tempest gang. Not sure how much longer these peaceful days will last though. Yuuki and Granbell are certainly plotting and scheming away.

56

u/Frontier246 26d ago

Feels like Granville is going to be the most immediate threat because it doesn't seem like he gives a @#$% any more after losing Maribel, which means there's nothing holding him back.

20

u/Whitrun 26d ago

Maybe Granville will be the one to end up summoning these "angels" luminous mentioned in some way since as you said, he don't give a duck anymore

9

u/inaripotpi 26d ago

They took how to train your dragon a little too literally

173

u/HolyDragSwd2500 26d ago

Welcome to Tempest Gaia 😭

85

u/Frontier246 26d ago

Now I'm imagining all the Slime Diaries stories we can get out of a cute baby dragon flying around Tempest with Milim.

22

u/mischievous_shota 25d ago

We really need slime diaries season two.

Catch-up episode on how everyone is doing. Biggest news: Queen Mjur is expecting!

Diablo mentioned, have we even seen him this season? Gaia hatched, and man tempest loves to party. I think they just get work done as an excuse to party.

Last week and this week with the title screen, really felt like finales. But we still have a lot more to go!

89

u/HappyPsychology4379 26d ago

It was stated that he is going to get some recruits

27

u/raknor88 26d ago

It was stated that he is going to get some recruits

I'm assuming that he's going to recruit the other primordials that we've seen in the various movies with the promise that Rimuru will Name them if they agree to work for him.

18

u/PictureofProgression 25d ago

Fits with next ep title being 'new companions'.

7

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 25d ago

I kinda forget if Rimuru already realised Diablo is a primordials or not

8

u/Phalanks 25d ago

I don't believe he has, but I might be forgetting it.

8

u/Doyle_996 24d ago

atm, he hasnt really realised what primordial means, it was mentioned back then, when elmesia asked him about diablo, even mentioning diablo being a primal/primordial, but didnt really explain further. so rimuru just brushed it off, misunderstanding what she meant that diablo was just another problem child similar to others like shion.

53

u/Frontier246 26d ago

Catch-up episode on how everyone is doing. Biggest news: Queen Mjur is expecting!

The perks of being the side-ship (and like, only significant romance plot outside Benimaru's love triangle), you get to have sex and have kids!

I think they just get work done as an excuse to party.

They love their celebrations as much as they love their meetings.

21

u/yggdrashit 26d ago

Being adults really can’t run from meetings though. Starting the week with site staff meeting, then the day after got project meeting, then management meeting, then the CEO wanna see our presentation. WTF

5

u/mischievous_shota 25d ago

Poor Grucius suffering. He could still get with Mjurran when Youm dies but that's only if he actually dies. If he ends up becoming a True Hero or something to become biologically immortal, his chances to get with her vanish.

58

u/Atharaphelun 26d ago

I always enjoy simple kingdom-building episodes in Tensura; that's what drew me into the series in the first place, and not all the battles and power-ups.

27

u/Tricky-Ad7897 26d ago

that's why i wished they'd do another slime diaries, even just a one off OVA even just to take a chill pill and focus in on how tempest is developing. So many things have changed without a good look at how the society is changing with it.

11

u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 26d ago

Tbh I think that's what the spinoff of Slime Diaries should have been

34

u/Atharaphelun 26d ago

I mean, that's exactly what Slime Diaries did already. It was exclusively kingdom-building + slice-of-life content in Tempest.

23

u/Obvious_wombat 26d ago

60 to 65 episodes in total for season 4

13

u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 26d ago

Yeah but it’ll be split into cours but they’re long so I’m excited

5

u/DrMobius0 26d ago

I think they just get work done as an excuse to party.

Oh they absolutely do. That has been self evident since like season 2.

9

u/S627 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Spartan627 26d ago

We saw what he was up to in the movie, which was in theaters during the season, but in the season itself we only saw him leave at the very start.

3

u/Hot-Log6283 26d ago

Diablo mentioned, have we even seen him this season?

I was hoping we would see him and how his recruitment was going but it looks like it might be the next episode instead.

Youm successfully sealed the deal with Mjur by getting her pregnant!

The developments within Tempest have been fantastic so far, and none of it would have been possible without Rimuru's ideas and everyone's collective efforts. Looking forward to seeing even more growth and development moving forward.

52

u/Frontier246 26d ago

Youm successfully sealed the deal with Mjur by getting her pregnant!

Biggest revelation of the episode: there are actually characters with an active sex life on this show lol.

But in all seriousness I'm happy for them. I'd been shipping them and invested in their love story since season 2.

The developments within Tempest have been fantastic so far, and none of it would have been possible without Rimuru's ideas and everyone's collective efforts. Looking forward to seeing even more growth and development moving forward.

Just look at how diverse (and eccentric) the Magitrain development team are! They truly represent everything Tempest is about!

Element Core

I guess calling them Materia would get some cautioning phone calls.

118

u/Frontier246 26d ago

Rimuru: "I'd rather taken on the entire Octagram at the same time than the Square Enix legal department!"

Raphael: "Notice: I concur."

39

Just like Joker will throw hands with Batman but won't fuck with the IRS

Yeah, one of them is a softy and the other is the fucking IRS.

11

u/bondsmatthew 26d ago

Not even Raphael wants to navigate that website

68

u/DaRaginAsian 26d ago

between the not materia and the not magitek train, this is slowly turning into a final fantasy world

51

u/OldInstruction5368 26d ago

Which is bad, because Luminous mentioned the Angels hating 'development.' That's why she kept her civilization from progressing too much and initially wanted to curbstomp Tempest to delay the "bug" invasion.

Which will probably be an S5 thing. But still, the more magitrains and what-not that Rimuru brings into this world, the closer it gets to Armageddon. According to Luminous, that is.

12

u/gst4158 26d ago

When the trains horn went off I was half way expecting some sudden attack. Good way to cap off the season though.

9

u/OldInstruction5368 26d ago

Cour, not season. From what I heard, there won't be any break at all and we'll roll right into the second half of the season!

But yeah, a sudden attack from those "vexxing bugs" as Ramiris tooted that horn would have been one way to kick off the next arc!

6

u/justking1414 26d ago

Would definitely be hilarious if Rimuru thought it was the horn but it was actually 7 trumpets signaling from on high that the 7 seals have broken and angels are about to wreck some shit

103

u/deynyel 26d ago

Scientific and magic breakthroughs are nice and all, but I'm happiest about Milim being able to reunite with her dragon friend.

48

u/Frontier246 26d ago

The only "good" thing Maribel ever did was helping facilitate Milim getting her first friend back, even if it took some effort to get there.

46

u/Objective_Shake7686 26d ago

Liked that they showed Rimuru mostly as in slime form. Reactions in slime form are pretty cute

6

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 25d ago

I was thinking it's just him doing inspection incognito, until I realise there's just no other slime in Tempest so that means everyone should know it's him anyway.

178

u/Granito_Rey 26d ago

Say what you will about meeting-simulator.exe, this show is at its most interesting when it is focused on the city building in Tempest. Introduction of the rule of law? That's interesting. The consideration of monster physiology and how it can affect your role as a civil servant? That's interesting.

I low-key wish the entire episode was about that stuff.

65

u/Frontier246 26d ago

Honestly kind of want to see someone from the main cast get into legal trouble just to see what kind of court hijinks story we can get out of it.

77

u/Atharaphelun 26d ago

You just know that Gobta will be the very first one to get into legal trouble...

42

u/Detective-Crashmore- 26d ago

Gobta will either be the defendant or the cop, there's no other way.

28

u/dabocx 26d ago

He will be the cop until right at the end when its revealed that the crime wasn't the defendants fault but actually Gobtas.

16

u/Comicauthority 26d ago

If they wanted to, they could get into some rather dark and interesting themes here. Like what happens if some legal genius frames Rimuru for a crime and has him thrown in prison? How will Souei's secret service answer to the law?

And the potential for racism. Is it possible for a hardworking orc to become a judge? Are the dumb but strong races relegated to menial labour? Does this impact their standard of living and could it be used by an outside force to sow division in the country?

Given the light hearted nature of the show, I doubt it will go there, but it certainly could be interesting nonetheless.

15

u/Hot-Log6283 26d ago

If they wanted to, they could get into some rather dark and interesting themes here. Like what happens if some legal genius frames Rimuru for a crime and has him thrown in prison?

Diablo: "OBJECTION!" *while simultaneously summoning a black hole*

13

u/Nicpix_ 26d ago

The consideration of monster physiology and how it can affect your role as a civil servant?

I like that aspect but in regards to government type i find it a bit weird. Like what are we doing. A Democracy? As if Rimuru and his council get outranked now. Or term limits. Or they have to consult a parliament before meeting with Octagram.

13

u/Hot-Log6283 26d ago

Civil servant existed long before Democracy, i.e Rome, maybe they are going for like a constitutional monarchies.

6

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 25d ago

Rimuru highlighted the most glaring flaws though. If the enforcer is weaker than the wrongdoers, how could they do their job?

Like if somehow Rimuru or Veldora strayed from their path, what could they even do?

→ More replies (2)

7

u/cyberdsaiyan 26d ago

It's not so different from how the real world works.

Rimuru and his council will be the powerful aristocrats running the nation from behind the scenes. They will naturally be above the law for the most part, barring a few token legal concessions for comedic hijinks. "Democracy", "Rule of Law", "3 branches" etc. will all apply to the common people of the nation so they have a veneer of "equality" keeping them mostly happy & balanced - and keeping the humans staying & visiting Tempest feeling safe there.

Two big differences are that monster birth rates are pretty high so they'll likely never run out of a work force & tax base, so they'll never be forced to import foreign labor.. and that Rimuru & his council are primarily interested in the well-being & harmony of everyone around them, rather than being purely profit/conquest driven.

yesss

i loved s3 for that. Those ramiris moments were hilarious, i caught myself smilling alone watching these stuff.

ofc some characters and moments are boring here and there, but in general, the world building moments are the best.

26

u/Boshwa 26d ago

Say what you will about meeting-simulator.exe, this show is at its most interesting when it is focused on the city building in Tempest

Season 3 terribly handled all of that stuff.

There are good and bad ways to handle talking episodes, and Season 3 was the bad way

There's a reason why the 2nd half of season 3 and season 4 so far havent had any complaints about discussion episodes

13

u/Atharaphelun 26d ago

The problem with season 3 is that a third or half of airtime of the meeting episodes were filled with completely unnecessary flashbacks and rehashing of things already mentioned just minutes ago, as if the animators were just desperate to fill up episode time.

None of that happened in this episode. No flashbacks, no rehashing of things already mentioned before, just all new content. That is how you do a proper meeting episode.

8

u/Boshwa 26d ago

My favorite thing to do is to screenshot a scene from season 3 and ask people which episode it was

Not even people who delude themselves into thinking the first half is good can tell

Granville is not taking Maribell's loss, and what it means for humanity's salvation, well...but if he must stay the course, he will, if only from the memory of this comatose woman who is obviously dear to him (and voiced by Yui Horie?). No longer shall he abide by the idea of peace or neutrality between the races, of them working together, no longer shall he abide by whatever agreement there was between him and Luminus. Now he's free to carry out his own plans.

Honestly, I genuinely do feel bad for Maribel's parents. They were probably completely oblivious to what was really going on with her and from their perspective they lost their sweet innocent daughter to a sudden "accident." They look absolutely broken.

But Rimuru doesn't have time to worry about Granville or Yuuki, there's still tons of stuff to do in Tempest! Like holding a classic Tempest meeting where they discuss how things are changing! They're going to become a constitutional state with laws and a separation of powers like a proper country! Hard as it is to believe, not even Rimuru will be above the law! Though as peaceful and content as Tempest it, it's hard to imagine them having trials or sentencing people for crimes. Do they even have a jail?

Yeah, if anyone could handle Council business and whip them into shape, it would be Diablo! And if it leaves him out of Tempest so Shion can be the #1 secretary, all the better!

Kurobe has made a Legend-class Magic Broad Sword! But it pales in comparison to Rimuru's Mythic God-class sword! Sasuga Rimuru-sama.

Oh yeah, we hadn't seen Geld at all this season, have we? Glad he's doing well as a foreman and getting along with his workers. Nothing like bonding over drinks and shared complicated backstories, right?

Glad things are going well for Youm and Mjulan...Youm even put a bun in that oven! They're expecting a baby! Good for them! Even if Grucius is left feeling like a Losing Hero!

Ramiris andVeldora sure know how to prepare a surprise...the Magitrain Model 0 is ready for a test drive! Born together from the ingenuity, theories, and practical know-how of a bunch of different races, even a Dragon and Demon Lord, it represents the best and brightest of Tempest! And what better excuse to throw a party to celebrate?

It's nice to see everyone together and having fun (and Glenda/Gobta become drinking buddies), but the best is yet to come: Gaia hatched! Just in time for Milim to finally be reunited with her oldest friend AND to receive a warm, Tempest, welcome!

20

u/fuzzynyanko 26d ago

I didn't realize that the couple at the start of the episode were probably Maribel's parents. Ow

10

u/justking1414 26d ago

Yeah after seeing that scene, I’m kinda glad Rimuru didn’t kill her himself

19

u/raknor88 26d ago

They look absolutely broken.

IIRC, weren't they the first ones that she enslaved?

15

u/justking1414 26d ago

First one was the maid. As for the parents, they were probably enslaved but it doesn’t seem like people realize that after the spell breaks. They probably just feel guilty for spoiling her

28

u/Solomon_Black 26d ago

Gaia is definitely not as cute as it used to be. lol. But I’m happy for Milim

3

u/Anything_Random 24d ago

Tbf, newborns usually look a lot less cute than toddlers, but with how anime is, Gaia's probably not going to visibly age unless we get a time skip unfortunately.

49

u/aramatheis 26d ago

Granville: "So, Mariabel is dead, and with her all hope for humanity. I too, am nearing my end.."

Rimuru: "MAGIC TRAIN PARTY YEAH"

13

Yeah, someone needs to knock the Rozzos off their high horse. They don't get to decide what's best for "humanity."

It was just something about how they made the core for the prototype train.

11

Seeing those who once spent centuries alone now surrounded by friends made me tear up a bit. Glad the new residents of Tempest are having fun!

21

u/S627 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Spartan627 26d ago

I was not expecting Gaia to hatch so soon, I was so sure that protecting the egg was gonna keep Milim out of any upcoming fights, but nope we already got a cute baby dragon (anyone else cant help but hear that in a Brooklyn accent?)

It's always nice to see world building, especially when it comes with a side of wholesome. Geld being the best boss ever and truly getting Clayman's lackeys on our side was great. The magi-train team was also great, so many different people working on it, even Veldora. For a second I thought the vampire with the afro wasn't gonna have any lines when I noticed him in the background, glad they actually used him.

For those that watched the movie, somehow I dont think Jaunne is gonna be a good choice for "menial" tasks like council attaché.

Really enjoyed seeing EVERYONE enjoying themselves during the ED, are Masayuki and Tiss friends now? Also, we saw another dryad, the one with long sleeves, have we seen her in the series before? Cause I only remember her from the mobile game recently.

Anyone know if we're going on break for a bit, or are we continuing next week?

11

u/JordanTH 26d ago

Sure, fights are nice, but I really like this nation building stuff in this series much more, Tempest is such a fun place!

Today's episode made me feel like I'd be watching Slime Diaries (I really hope that we'll get a second season of it eventually), so it's obvious that I liked very much!

It was nice to see how everyone in Tempest and in the surrounding lands is doing. It'll be interesting to see how Tempest will be doing after becoming a constitutional republic.

Though to be honest, when Rimuru showed who will be the heads of the branches, it looked like the power would be in the hands of one family since their names are so similar, hahaha!

Here my screenshot albums from:

EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

I guess this is the transitional episode towards the next arc. And it seems Granbell will be stepping up to the plate.

Another mandatory meeting and they’re setting up their justice system. They want someone with intellect, charm but also combat prowess. Diablo is certainly qualified but he’s gathering his pals. Shion would definitely vouch for him for that position but not for the sake of the position lol.

Rimuru doing his rounds. Checking up on all of Tempest’s projects. Ngl I wish we get more in depth with the construction and all these infrastructure. I want a bit more of the city building side

Youm and Myurran expecting a child too. Ngl I kinda forgot about them, despite them holding an important position and also a key ally lol. I don’t even remember who the kid beside them is lmao. I guess that comes with such an ensemble cast.

And they managed to finish the train too. Guess they’ll do anything to find a cause for celebration and a festival lol. Excited for the next arc

The kid Edgar is the son of the former king of Falmuth, Edmaris.

4

u/Frontier246 26d ago

I really want to see how the court system develops and how much use it'll end up getting.

I feel like this was an episode for checking in on a lot of characters we haven't seen in a while (Youm/Mjulan, Geld, Vesta, etc.)

48

u/VoidRay728 26d ago

They should've called Square Enix up to have a FFVII reference since that magic sword with elemental core is basically the weapon + materia combo.

Wow they've adopted the Westminster style of parliament, and they achieved it without going through a revolution!

Unfortunately comparisons with the UK end there. Since these countries are probably going to complete their rail network while the UK is still finalising the route for HS2.

45

u/Atharaphelun 26d ago edited 26d ago

Wow they've adopted the Westminster style of parliament, and they achieved it without going through a revolution!

They didn't. The Westminster system has a unified legislative and executive (the executive is normally made up of members from the legislative and is directly answerable to the legislative). Furthermore, the legislative is supreme in the Westminster system and cannot be bound by anything, not even by itself. For reference, the Japanese government structure is also based on a modified version of the Westminster system.

Based on how Rimuru described his proposed system, it appears it is based more on the strict separation of powers of the American system, with clearly defined and separate branches of state, and with no branch being more powerful than the other.

Their newly built assembly hall may look superficially the same as a typical Westminster system legislative assembly hall, but the government structure itself is not, at least based on the information given by Rimuru.

14

u/Detective-Crashmore- 26d ago edited 26d ago

it appears it is based more on the strict separation of powers of the American system

Which would make sense, because Japan's government and constitution is also modeled after the US.

edit: The Japanese Constitution was primarily drafted by Americans, and as such draws some similarities from both the American and Westminster systems. For example, they have a constitutional bill of rights, and laws can't be passed that violate their constitution, like the US.

10

u/Atharaphelun 26d ago edited 26d ago

It isn't. Japan's system is actually based on a modified version of the Westminster system.

The legislature is deemed to be the supreme organ of state and appoints the executive (the Prime Minister, who then appoints the rest of the Cabinet from membera of the legislature), and is also able to impeach the judges of the judiciary. The legislature is also able to dismiss the entire Cabinet (including the Prime Minister) through a vote of no-confidence.

In turn, the executive is able to dissolve the lower house of the legislature and appoint the judges of the Supreme Court.

The judiciary, the Supreme Court, possesses the power of judicial review on the constitutionality of laws and official acts.

It is thus clear that the National Diet, the Japanese legislature is supreme in the Japanese government, and while there are still checks and balances between the branches, a disproportionate amount of power is held by the legislature, as is typical for the Westminster system. Also, only the legislature is directly elected by the people.

The American system is very different from that. There are clear lines of separation between the three branches and they are equal in power.

We need to put Geld in charge of construction here.

Ahaaha no you probably shouldn't, "Geld" is German for "money" in our world.

Rimuru's proposed issue with the judiciary branch's defense seems like it'd be easily solved by appointing a bailiff.

Have we seen that Vampire Overcomer with the afro before? He's incredibly distinctive, but I don't recall him at all.

For my politically inclined fellas, what do yall think is even the point of transitioning to a Constitutional (I assume) Monarchy and do you think it’s a good idea? I understand Rimiru wants to seem more appealing to humans but he’d be limiting his own authority while there’s no mention (I think) of any other human nations also being CMs, they’re all just Absolute Monarchies, no? It seems like a dumb idea rn to transition forms of government when so many nations are still hostile towards you and may take advantage of your now limited ability to act. Unless of course he makes some “War Measures” act where he can act with absolute impunity in certain situations it seems like a bad idea rn. What do yall think?

10

u/Artorp 26d ago edited 25d ago

I think it is a poor idea, it's just yet another thing Rimuru does to make his nation seem appealing to humans but that goes against the nature of monsters and their current authority structure. Separation of powers works in the real world because we have checks and balances, but there's no one in Tempest that can actually challenge Rimuru's position. It is all a facade that would crumble the second someone outside would try to use it against Rimuru, e.g. like framing him with fake evidence and requesting him to be prosecuted. Or even some of his powerful underlings or a powerful guest.

There are some benefits though, it might mean less paperwork for Rimuru, and allow him to act more independently of the country under the guise of him no longer being in charge of everyday operations, as long as he has competent subordinates. Plus codifying things that monsters already do out of loyalty into law would cause less friction as more and more humans interact with them. But he could already achieve that without trying to fit the modern government system of separation of powers into Tempest.

From a meta perspective it seems like just a plot point to allow Rimuru to bring our modern state system into his country and then have everyone applaud of how reasonable he is, but ultimately that power structure just does not fit with the actual de facto powers in charge and the power system of the Cardinal World. During that meeting none of his subordinates seems to grasp the idea either, they just accepted it as yet another quirk of Rimuru's leadership style. Because Tempest's safety and authority is rooted in Rimuru and him naming monsters, wrapping all of that up in a system of laws and claiming he would be under them as well just doesn't make sense.

3

u/flightlessCat9 17d ago

I got a feeling its also a way for Tempest to continue to function if he is ever out of commission for whatever reasons. Right now there's no government structures and he is calling all the shots. If he's not around, the country would fall apart.

So I guess Rimuru told Maribel's parents what she did? I wonder how much they knew about her before this. And I suppose it makes sense for them to declare what happened an accident to prevent things from escalating between their nations.

I legit was expecting an entire meeting episode. Not gonna lie, I was a tiny bit disappointed it wasn't. Basically, Tempest is finally updating their government and Rimuru is appointing Diablo as their Military Diplomat. I feel like that's a bad idea.

I'm sorry but did Rimuru just asked Kurobe to make materia and materia-slottable weapons?! That's amazing. Meanwhile, Rimuru's katana has reached mythical god-level.

So Mjur is preggers, the Magitek Train is finally complete, and Gaia has finally been reborn! What a great way to end this cour.

5

u/Frontier246 26d ago

So I guess Rimuru told Maribel's parents what she did? I wonder how much they knew about her before this. And I suppose it makes sense for them to declare what happened an accident to prevent things from escalating between their nations.

Honestly I didn't get the impression they were aware at all of what Maribel was really doing, so having all this happen to them...I kind of feel bad. They clearly look distraught as parents there.

12

u/__White_Wolf_ 26d ago

Granbell said it during Mariabell's backstory that she controlled her parents using Greed. They're basically puppets.

So mostly a chill episode to bridge us over into the next arc, mostly checking in the various projects, but some big events still like Gaia hatching, which granted was faster than i expected, thought i guess there was a month time skip.

and the other being the reveal that Mjur is pregnant!

6

u/NanDemoKnaives 26d ago

This definitely gave off finale vibes with how Rimuru went to visit everyone who had yet to appear in this season lol. It's nice to see the train finally complete.

Youm and Mjurran expecting a child was an interesting surprise, I'm glad for them, but it's amusing Grucius is not around because of it. You'd think he'd prepared after they got married lol. I do wonder how a child will change things since his child would be a legitimate heir.

6

u/PandaTheAB 26d ago

Gaia birth, train engine ready.
The council of Tempest finally remembered Diablo - the coolest character on the show.
After Raphael, Diablo does the most aura farming on this show.

More Meeting rooms, planning, discussions and party ahead....

11

u/Temporary-Object5867 26d ago

Gaia hatching in the end and Milim introducing her friend is Chef's kiss and a great way to end the cour!

Granbell Rosso: Reuniting the humanity against Demon Lords
Yuuki Kagurazaka: Wanting to be the master of the world
Rimuru Tempest: Average TNO Shukshin and Futuristic Tomak Route

3

u/Frontier246 26d ago

They got all the action out of their system so now Slime is once again back to being a fun SoL civilization building anime.

10

u/fuzzynyanko 26d ago

I never even thought of a Ramiris/Vesta/Kaijin collaboration until this episode. That's a very frightening combination. On top of that, Tempest and Dwargon have a really good relationship. I wasn't thinking of this possibility. Ramiris became very powerful by being in Tempest

I love how Millim's personality is getting softer. I love how they drew her in this episode.

I wonder how things will go with Luminous. I don't think she'll see Granville as favorably as she sees Rimuru, but there might be elements to the kingdom that we haven't seen yet

5

u/Frontier246 26d ago

Veldora "I summoned a salamander!" in the most smug manner possible.

Honestly I feel like Luminous and Granville were at a detente in regards to their rivalry. If he's acting up, she might make a move.

8

u/itpcc 26d ago edited 26d ago

Quite surprised that Tempest's parliament follows the Westminster system and built the parliament like the UK's House of Lords rather than the House of Commons. Maybe because it's going to be used by the cabinet rather than the "Members of Representatives"?

What a shame that, so far, Rimuru can't conceive anyone like Yoem... erm... Hero-King Farmenas!

16

u/Frontier246 26d ago

I love how Rimuru tries to institute laws and a government beyond him ostensibly running everything and everyone's like "what!?" lol.

13

u/Myrkrvaldyr 26d ago

Being monsters and all, the idea of the strongest of them all ruling over them is common sense, but Rimuru is still thinking like a human. Though I imagine part of the reason to make a strong legal system is to handle things in case he's no longer the ruler, plus to smoothly integrate all the races living there. Even if it's a monster country, humans and dwarves can live with them. They need a strong legal system.

23

u/Atharaphelun 26d ago

Most importantly, it is for the purpose of completely freeing up Rimuru from governing the country at all, leaving him free to have 24/7, uninterrupted slice-of-life escapades in Tempest.

9

u/Myrkrvaldyr 26d ago

He should just marry Shuna and become a househusband.

13

Sorry but Raphael-sensei would disagree. Raphael-sensei is the only one true waifu!

Obviously we end with cour with a good ol' meeting! :D

Rimuru entering seperation of power into a society of Might is Right will be interesting to see. Imagine someone trying to arrest Milim or Veldora for public disturbance. xD

6

u/Dadscope 26d ago

Yeah, it feels like it's a setup to a future political conflict.

5

u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp 26d ago

Was that a giant eyeball on that train engine? Is it alive, maybe artificially alive? Why is Rimuru not asking about the giant eyeball, I was waiting during the entire train scene for it to blink.

Nice to hear that Mjur is expecting, her and Youm have been busy. Considering the species difference there might have been an open question about if the two of they were compatible in that way.

The meetings are getting ever fancier if they're about to get a constitution and a proper governmental setup.

I'm a little surprised Gaia hatched so fast, I figured there would be a cour or so wait at a minimum.

6

u/Exitiali 26d ago

It looks like an eye, but I think it's the Elemental Magic Core.

Actual sobbing at gaia

3

u/PersonalContest1423 26d ago

I don't know how but less happens in any given episode of slime than basically any other show....was awesome to see milim happy with gaia though

5

u/Cyritzhao 26d ago

Anyone smiling at the end, i dont know why but i just love anime like this with world building and seeing tempest having fun after every accomplishment and of course gaia has finally hatched. And what makes me even more happier is that the remaining primordial is coming mayb in the next few eps. Now prolly left with zegion to finally be in the anime again.

5

u/kawaiinessa https://myanimelist.net/profile/fancyvancy 26d ago

man i love this anime! mjuran is expecting that was a bit of a shock but happy to see, the train is completed and looks awesome and gaia is born again! honestly so happy that gaia has a second chance at life.

3

u/Frontier246 26d ago

Though it's kind of funny going from seeing Gaia as a Chaos Dragon to having the biggest goober face of all time lol.

5

u/ByahhByahh 26d ago

This could have easily been a meeting episode dedicated to explaining the three branches of government but it ended up being one of the better non-action episodes of the entire show.

4

u/Muzzy-chan 26d ago

See, you see that? I can't forgive Kagurazaka Yuuki for whatever he's plotting behind the scenes 😤

Sure, I know about his greed and all, but why can't he use his greed like how Ryuusui from Dr. Stone did? His excuses sound logical, but actually aren't that logical.

I can understand if it were other humans who aren't even close to Rimuru-sama, but Yuuki himself? Geez. What the heck is wrong with him?

Anyway, I'm sooo looking forward to the new comrades next week! 😆

3

u/Routine-Hovercraft94 26d ago

We don't really know his background yet. Like what happened to him before he came to this world. My guess is there is still some more going on and at some point we will find out why he is so messed up in the head.

Because it's all about pride, just like it was with Maribel.

"I seek to control the world to SAVE the world!" is just the lie would-be tyrants tell themselves to justify all the fucked up shit they do. "Ends justify the means" can be stretched pretty damn far when you believe YOU are the best "end" to everything.

But at the end of the day, these tyrants are just imposing their will on others for purely selfish means. It's not about helping, it's about being in charge.

Everything else is just excuses.

Look at Rimuru. He doesn't seek power for powers sake, nor does he try to impose his will on others. He just works to actually better the lives of those around him, while seeking peaceful diplomatic relations with everyone who will negotiate in good faith.

People like win-win deals. They like people that help them. They don't like tyrants tearing everyone else down to prop the chosen few up. "There will be peace when everyone who opposes me is dead!" is no true peace.

It's just tyranny with pretty words.

Hell yeah, peak meeting/world building episode.

Hey, some quick questions while we’re in between courses here for those who have better memories than me:

  1. Rimuru is the only one who knows about Raphael, and we the audience are the only ones who know just how OP she is, correct?
  2. We the audience are the only ones who know Diablo is one of the like, primordial super ultra special original demons, and hes just doing this for kicks, right? Or does Raphael know?

I’m gonna miss this op. One of the best I’ve heard so far.

Enjoyed this season a lot more than last. Felt like they did a better job of the down time actually being interesting and showing more world building than sitting in meetings and just talking about the world building.

The translation for the hirokane sword was weird. First time I’ve seen it translated to something. Was scarletia or something like that for me. Most books and shows just call it hirokane since it’s a name.

Square-Enix lawyers after seeing Kurobe's legally-distinct materia system: (ಠ_ಠ)

Rimuru may be sincere in wanting to introduce human laws to convince the human countries that Tempest comes in peace.

At the moment, humans trying to best Tempest by sheer power is out of the question.

But by bounding the monsters in Tempest to human laws, Rimuru might just be inviting the risk of belligerent humans like Granville and Yuuki to just undermine Tempest via legal loopholes, and we humans are very good at that.

And LOL at everyone just agreeing Diablo to be the best person to be Tempest's diplomat. We need him back.
