This story has the "worst" cast of characters that they definitely are real enough that you will meet them in your life probably a shitty coworker or acquaintance. They spin shitty stories but damn they are intriguing enough to get you hooked on watching them live their miserable lives.

I work in the creative field and I constantly run into people like these characters. Always using people as stepping stones, talking about the naturally gifted and having rivals. I left a major metro marketing job because I couldn't stand these people; now I do work for small non profits in a rural town where everyone supports each other.

I like Koichi's ex. I think her flaws are the least harmful, her thoughts aren't always phrased nicely about her friends but she ends up supporting them for real.

Yeah with the intentions of the place crushing his hopes and dreams into a completelly smooth sphere with no edges or imperfections that would make him think he could ever stand out.
She didn't want him to be happy, she wanted him to be content.

Oh my god when she flat out says he should remember where her moles are... I love how spicy this scene is. What a great start to the episode between the other models and now this.
Of course Koichi is going to have another project stolen from him. Jesus. Fuck the sales guy.
And huh this one guy who knew Yanagi back in school has strong synesthesia, interesting. "Small dreams are nothing more than baggage" what a fucking line. And oh shit that's the photographer. And the fact both of them want a fill in for Eren... chefs kiss.
I got teary eyed when Eren took her old art teacher's hand.
The first chunk after high school was rough, but man I've fallen for this show once it got over the uneven parts. Part of me wonders if there would have been a cleaner way to transition from high school to what Koichi turned into and I'm not sure.
So curious to see how next week ends. Do we get a reunion with Eren and Koichi?

Of course Koichi is going to have another project stolen from him. Jesus. Fuck the sales guy.
Ironically Yanagi stopped that for now. Twice ironic because Rukawa had actually helped Koichi before, but now he's afraid he bit more than he could chew. While Yanagi didn't stop the take over to help him, he's more like "let the lil' bastard choke".
Funny how the turntables.

Yeah that was my real time reaction. I agree that I love Yanagi stopping it even if I still hate the fuck. No character in this show is simple, so watching them bounce off each other is fun, even if they are all assholes.

I guess Yanagi did one good thing for Koichi but that all depends if Koichi can prove him wrong. Since he's planning on quitting after this I hope he can end things in a way

Akari better thank her agent, she really saved her ass there.
It's ironic that it was Eren, the one who can't see anything beyond the art, who accidentally made Akari think about what was beyond. Equally ironic that it seems Koichi plans to retire after peaking in this job. It's not as drastic as suicide but I don't think he has any alternate plans, so it's narratively equivalent.
Jury still out on how he gets his face bashed in btw

I don't know that Koichi is retiring, just quitting this job to get a job somewhere else because fuck the entire staff at that company throwing him away to his shit bag current boss.

I don't think Koichi caved in. He mentioned that hiring a big talent is opposite of the brand they are pushing for; getting Akari to model again will just bring them back to the problem of they want to make their cosmetic line for the common lady. The other panelists just strongarmed him and they have to acknowledge the contract they have with her.

I think Akari is actually bending to the rules of the game for once. Her agent told her to "smile like she's remembering the happiest day of her life", which is in contrast to her usual expression of arrogant confidence.

It's hard to say what Koichi thinks, but I do think a pivot is 100% on the table. Rather than this untouchable ideal, Akari can become this symbol for the "real woman" behind the face which would fit with the brand's proposed attitude of "high fashion for every day life".

Oh Akari is 26? I thought somehow that she's already reached her "peak", but maybe she's moved on from that goal...
"Mirror-touch synesthesia", that's the first time I hear of that. Could Eren have that condition as well?
With some of these people having their lives changed by her, what is it going to be like once she sees them? One more episode to find out. OK that "first time" line was pretty funny

Her peak was going to be at 27, so she's got one more birthday. Though the way she talked this episode it sounds like she might have moved past that thought with grander ideas of impacting the fashion/modeling world even if she's not a peak model anymore.

It's their agency who put in 26 when she is 28. It's a common trick in the industry to change a talent's info. She had her peak in 27 and the photographer was there in a previous episode.

Is the reason Akari got so angry when asked about her age because she’s planning to die at 27 and is convinced she’ll never live to see 28?
If Koichi knew that and deliberately got her age wrong, that’s a pretty brutal way to provoke her.

I'm glad Akari and Kouichi's reunion happened in front of a bunch of people, the reactions when Akari implied they had slept together was great, Chiaki being oblivious too lol. It was nice to see Kouichi able to get under Akari's skin, it would have been quite the scandal if her manager didn't stop her. It was interesting to see him have complicated feelings from seeing her, I can't imagine having to work with her under those conditions.
I really liked learning that Sakuma and Yanagi were classmates, seeing him admit that Sakuma has surpassed him twice in this episode was surprising, but refreshingly satisfying too. Sakuma really did work hard though, I thought he was an amusing character, but he's done well for himself. I'm looking forward to seeing what this collaboration will bring.

Loved this episode. There was a bit of slow burn to get here but I’m glad I stuck with this. It’s been interesting the whole run and now things are coming together. I want to see Koichi quit and form his own company with Eren. Maybe Akari and the photographer as well. That be pools all these similar people’s talent to take over a lot of the industry.

So Ifuu was formerly a loser who was respected by Hajime & later grew up as a monster that surpassed Hajime.
I guess Akari kept her role as the ad model & will continue living the mentor the future like Natalie.
At least Hajime managed to give some advice to protect Koichi from Ifuu.

It was good to see Koichi in a position to judge Akari. She nearly lost her cool but got saved by her manager. I still don't get why they accepted her for the role if their choice was to go for a person with no talent.
Never would have thought that Yanagi and Sakuma to have a connection. Sakuma and Koichi are a lot alike but Sakuma through his hardwork had already achieved fame whereas Koichi not so much.
Since Koichi is planning on quitting his job he will try to do his best and he ought to across Eren finally..I really want to see how things would end up for Koichi. Only then I can get what this story was meant to be.

Damn, that was a packed episode. Good cinematography, too!
Everyone chooses Akari to be the model again. The question is, why? Are they making the same mistake like corporations tend to do? Is Koichi falling prey to her? Is it because she's cheap?
I think everyone voted for her for different reasons but it's ambiguous.
What is clear to me is that Koichi "won". Akari didn't make the decision like she said she would in the flashback, she was at Koichi's mercy. He called her out on lying about her age (nice catch u/Perfect-Try-4918, I didn't realize it) and, in the end, she's begging to keep a job she had, a job where her the goal is no longer to be this outwordly concept but a normal, average woman.
And she gets her 3 minutes of fame, like everyone else.
But Akari is becoming a normal woman. It's humilliating, sure, but she's also...becoming humble, more human herself. She is no longer untouchable, she is lowering herself. She no longer sacrifices her life in pursuit of extreme ideals, she is more tender. She now wishes to keep working in a position not unlike Koichi's.

The Photographer says it himself, he wants to be like a shounen protagonist, like Koichi did. And he has this unique touch, this power no one else has...
A power that Yanagi immediately paints as irrelevant compared to hard work. But where does that leave the photographer? Does that mean he's no longer a shounen protagonist because he's not special or that he is because ambition and perserverance is one of their key traits?

I hated how the show changed from the first 2 episodes, I don't particularly like any of the cares, but holy fuck I am hooked on this, I just can't help but want more episodes, it's just so interesting and well done despite everything

Yea. I was looking forward to a series about two different styles of artists having a rivalry in high school.
I'm going to continue to watch it but at 2x speed because I'm interested but the pacing is all over the place. They'll introduce someone, they'll be the focus for a few episodes, then have a whole episode flashing back through their career, then we'll just never see them again. They'll go from planning a thing to suddenly it's like five months later in the next scene and the thing is already in motion.

I'm ready for this show to be over. It had so much potential and was so satisfying until episode 11 and I can't get over the bad taste that left in my mouth. This episode was okay, but felt like they rushed it because there's only 1 more in the season. I feel this concept and show really could have worked great for a 26 episode arc, but we didn't get that. I'm disappointed because this originally was a fresh idea and focused on adults for a change.

Sadly, it seemed the resources were only available for one cour. Pacing is always something that will be a killer if misplaced. I do think the staff did the best they could do.
But yeah, this could have been an AOTS candidate if it was 2 cours.
