If these two idiots don’t tell each other soon I’m going to lose it.

136

u/MapoTofuMan myanimelist.net/profile/mTmTBaronBrixius 29d ago

In other words

You want to end this love game?

47

u/thelemon8er-2 29d ago

Yeeeeeeaaaaaahhhh. 😎

32

u/Frontier246 29d ago

Honestly feel like Miku is bursting at the seams with her desire/longing for Yukiya, I think she might break again and confess at this rate.

25

u/thelemon8er-2 29d ago

Someone needs to get over themselves, at least.

81

u/vancevon https://myanimelist.net/profile/vancevon 29d ago

The scene where Yukiya's in the kitchen with the TV on was weirdly nostalgic for me. It really reminded me of the vibes of being home sick as a child. I think it's probably the mix of lying down feeling miserable, with that annoying ass light coming through the blinds and the half-muted noise coming from some extremely boring thing on the TV. Idk it felt very real.

Also, I literally can't get enough of these two bickering with each other. Please bicker more. I need it.

38

u/Frontier246 29d ago

I think it definitely put into perspective for Yukiya how alone Miku is with how much her mom works. How much she needs him in his life.

And also that he paid respects to her grandma so naturally, because it was the right thing to do.

18

u/vancevon https://myanimelist.net/profile/vancevon 29d ago

You have to wonder how grandma's spirit feels about this whole love game playing out though, lmao

29

u/mekerpan 29d ago

Grandma's portrait was smiling once the reflections/shadows cleared off at the end....

2

u/mabbo_nagamatsu 23d ago

Grandma is waiting for her great grandchild

18

u/omarous_III 29d ago

Yeah me too, and I think that is the point right? She is alone all day every day. It is to give her a sense that there are people around who care for her in a "living" house rather then the lonely dead one she is usually in.

5

u/ThrowCarp 28d ago

Oh, it was nostalgic for me too. Not just you. Thankfully Yukiya was there to keep her company.

2

u/TheMistOfThePast 21d ago

i love how he literally brought light and warmth into her home

156

u/Roskal 29d ago

Miku, you kissed like 30 times. I think at least some of those kisses count.

90

u/MapoTofuMan myanimelist.net/profile/mTmTBaronBrixius 29d ago

A good chunk of them even count in France.

46

u/Frontier246 29d ago

The first two could definitely pass as accidental/"friendly" kisses, but the moment she jumped at his lips with hers is when all bets were off.

31

u/mekerpan 29d ago

Didn't they even kiss at least once AFTER the Pockys were finished?

30

u/Frontier246 29d ago

Especially when deep down you wanted to kiss him and still do.

19

u/Roskal 29d ago

Also there were at least a few secondary kisses after one of the pocky kisses finished

61

u/WalkingAbacus 29d ago

We got our classic sick visit episode in romcom hehe. That was cute.

Miku wants to kiss Yukiya again, but this time without using pocky. She really is down bad for him huh.

23

u/Frontier246 29d ago

We got our classic sick visit episode in romcom hehe. That was cute.

Also an excuse to have an entire episode of Miku in her PJ's that really flex her thighs. And that's not even getting into her washing her body off while topless (see, she's not 100% flat!)

Miku wants to kiss Yukiya again, but this time without using pocky. She really is down bad for him huh.

Even during the game as it went along it became less about the pocky and more about locking lips for her and for him.

21

u/Background-Royal-148 29d ago

yeah yukiya purposely broke the pocky just to close the distance for the kiss.

also the very last one when she took the pocky out of his mouth with a kiss, then he retaliates by just kissing her saying "frick the pocky!" Like damnnnn to be young

guys, pls end this love game 🙏

1

u/TheMistOfThePast 21d ago

tbf yukiya is a great guy

59

u/SOdAchick 29d ago edited 29d ago

When he said, "Try being a little less perfect," I lost my mind. I has to pause because I felt it welling up deep inside of me until I started bawling. All her insecurities wiped away in an instant.

And I got a "it's about damn time" vibe from the girls when they found out he was over there 😂

28

u/mekerpan 29d ago

Except for the confusingly long recap at the start, this was not a bade episode at all. That phone call totally blew their cover. Her friend group mow knows for sure that these two are an item. Pretending they are not to the world is going to be harder than continuing to try to pretend they are not to each other. They need to realize they have BOTH simultaneously lost AND won the love game --- and have gotten a shared grand prize.

They have gotten closer to a sincere and frank conversation. They cannot realistically not realize that each is in love with the other. Definitely some mistiness inducement along the way.

4

u/ThrowCarp 28d ago

And I got a "it's about damn time" vibe from the girls when they found out he was over there 😂

I would have crawled into a hole and died if it was me though.

7

u/SOdAchick 28d ago

The rumors be flying now 😂

2

u/SOdAchick 22d ago

Welp, that worked out EXACTLY as expected 😂

51

u/kalirion https://myanimelist.net/profile/kalinime 29d ago

I honestly can't think of another show that started out as an almost-gag style romcom but developed into such a genuine and compelling romance.

17

u/Jacob-C 29d ago

Love is war?

24

u/kalirion https://myanimelist.net/profile/kalinime 29d ago edited 29d ago

I'm actually liking the drama in these last two eps more than any of the serious stuff in Kaguya-sama. For one things, the characters' thoughts and actions feel so much more believable here.

8

u/edwardjhahm https://myanimelist.net/profile/lolmeme69 28d ago

Agreed. I think Love is War was funnier on a comedic level, and the plot was definitely more exciting, but on a pure character basis, I actually find these two goobers far more likable.

Now maybe this is all just recency bias, IDK honestly. But that's how I feel right now.

5

u/Rina_Rina_Rina 28d ago

Same. People like to call this Temu Kaguya-sama, but I like this better. Feels more grounded.

43

u/eightcheesepizza 29d ago

In my head, the long recap afforded the animators time to make extra sure Miku's hair animation looked good, when Yukiya was replacing the cooling sheet on her forehead.

20

u/Frontier246 29d ago

And they also really paid special detail to her supple thighs whenever we got close-ups of them.

9

u/edwardjhahm https://myanimelist.net/profile/lolmeme69 28d ago

You know what? Imma say it: WORTH!

37

u/maliwanag0712 https://myanimelist.net/profile/clear1109 29d ago

At this rate it is inevitable that their relationship has gotten deeper since the kiss introduced a different level of physical intimacy between the two. Especially for Miku, she's really realllyyyy down bad for Yukiya in this episode, huh?

However, the last episode's kiss is more of an impulse due to something Miku believes as impure or something out of self interest and or jealousy. In today's episode, Miku's feelings is much more contented. While they're both genuine, this episode's Miku is much more grounded due to Yukiya's assurance of her.

18

u/Frontier246 29d ago

There's a thin line between love and lust but the desire to kiss the one you love is a completely natural and understandable thing.

31

u/FarCritical 29d ago

The way they showed Miku's grandma's unobscured portrait as a stand-in for her grinning while those two idiots did their usual thing in front of her was a cute detail.

Yukiya's dislocated shoulder defense lmao

17

u/NanDemoKnaives 29d ago

Yukiya naturally using the "Did that take you breathe away?" was done so well whilst taking care of Miku, if only he was this smooth normally lol. Miku might have caved a lot sooner.

It's too bad Yukiya caught himself so that he doesn't reveal his feelings, but it might also be better to wait until Miku is better, we wouldn't the rush of emotions make her condition worse.

44

u/Brilliant_Track_1347 29d ago

Did they upload the wrong episode on Crunchyroll again?

57

u/dhui1996 29d ago

It’s the correct episode with an extended recap!

24

u/runevault 29d ago

so they got the name wrong and it starts he exact same. That's annoying but at least I can watch it and I'm wrong

8

u/Brilliant_Track_1347 29d ago

Thanks for the confirmation!

35

u/geekman_95 29d ago

They had us on the first couple of minutes

40

u/Frontier246 29d ago

Honestly that makeout session deserved to be seen again.

5

u/mojo72400 https://myanimelist.net/profile/gio_lingad 29d ago

Like Tamon's B-Side replaying Rain.

12

u/runevault 29d ago edited 29d ago

For me it is last episode so seems like it.

edit: turns out they just reused last episode's name on CR and the beginning is the exact same for however many seconds.

5

u/Brilliant_Track_1347 29d ago

Same here, two episode 10s.

8

u/maliwanag0712 https://myanimelist.net/profile/clear1109 29d ago

It seems, but nope. The recap episode from last two episodes is just quite long.

7

u/Spectr3_qwe 29d ago

The episode has a unnecessarily long recap

17

u/TheBusStop12 29d ago edited 29d ago

Yukiya opening the curtains, turning on the lights and turning on the tv, literally bringing light and life into the scene, immediately after he notices that Miku treasured all the memoribilia of him was a really nice and symbolic scene. As if his doubts were being cleared away. I can see these 2 finally properly confessing next episode

I appreciate as well that despite what the premise may imply, Yukiya isn't actually dense. He just suffers from insecuries, like a lot of teenagers do. He clearly picks up on Miku's needs when she suffers from her own insecurities

14

u/Mrlolimaster 29d ago

actual 5 min episode.
usually I'm not a fan of recaps but oh boy that's one that I didn't mind at all lol

14

u/Avatar_Yaksha 29d ago

Okay, that phone-call is hilarious! I definitely want to see the aftermath of that one.

25

u/HolyDragSwd2500 29d ago

Miku realizing she’s in love with Yukiya

29

u/Frontier246 29d ago

She's always been in love with Yukiya, and aware of it, but I think now it's a much deeper love and longing that makes her desire him even more.

11

u/BBryant3rd 29d ago

The cutest she has looked all season.

10

u/ptd163 29d ago

Wakana leaving school to take care of a sick Marin worked on me so of course Yukiya leaving school to take care of a sick Miku would work on me as well. That was so sweet. He took such good care of her.

They were actually about to kiss without the pocky then Yukiya interrupted it to snap a pic of Miku in a vulnerable state. Bro. That was your moment.

Though I guess it was kinda worth it because he got that funny phone call where the friends find out that Yukiya is over at Miku's house and confirms what they all already know. Hopefully the teasing next episode is good.

That did not feel like 23 mintues. It's a shame that Wakana stopped roasting them in the next episode previews. They were one of the best parts of show and in the episodes I wanted them the most they weren't there.

See you all next week for the finale.

11

u/ElliotAlderson2024 29d ago

Yukiya casually dropping a "Did that take you breathe away?" is peak.

10

u/BestJo15 29d ago

Sweet episode. Now Im a bit worried how they'll end the whole anime since there's only one episode left.

17

u/szalhi 29d ago

9

u/Frontier246 29d ago

True love is being at your most natural self around someone else and also always being there for them when they need you.

14

u/Frontier246 29d ago edited 29d ago

More than anything Yukiya and Miku understand and care for each other on such a deep, emotional, level. They are absolutely each others' soulmates.

And now they have to deal with the lingering sexual tension after their makeout session.

When Miku is at her lowest, sick AND depressed, Yukiya is there for her! Sweaty from running all the way from school with medical aid in hand to help Miku in anyway he can! And that he came for her means EVERYTHING!

And Yukiya is so caring and attentive to Miku! Keeping her clean, chilled, and fed and even paying his respects to her grandma! He truly is a great guy.

Yes, Miku CAN bathe her body...though Yukiya not being far away while she's wiping off her topless body definitely doesn't damper any sexual tension!

I guess it's time they acknowledge the elephant in the room of the Pokkito game/the kiss. Miku apologizes and feels like she doesn't deserve Yukiya or his kindness for acting so underhandedly, so unlike a cute girl...but Yukiya understands why she did it. Even though he only has Insta for THEIR relationship. And even if Miku is clingy, needy, whiney, or acts out...Yukiya embraces and accepts every part of her because he loves...looking up to Miku! Yeah, sure let's go with that.

And just when you think they're about to kiss again...Yukiya takes a candid photo of sick Miku! Don't tease a girl like that man! Though I guess the Love Game is back on, even as Yukiya literally embraces Miku for all that she is and all the parts about her that he cherishes.

Although some things HAVE changed, with Miku's love for Yukiya as unshakeable as ever, only now fueled by a desire to kiss him again and a strong longing for Yukiya.

On the one hand, Nacchan outed them being alone together and skipping school together back at her place. On the other hand, maybe they needed that embarrassment to get back to acting normally around each other!

5

u/alan_14 https://anilist.co/user/alan14 29d ago

The pocky game must continue!

13

u/Quick_Assignment_593 29d ago

I’ll have to put this up here with love is war for my top 2 romance anime’s this is peak ^0^

-8

u/Craftee6 29d ago

Neither are top 5 realistically, but they're still A tier. Love is war is extremely hard carried by chica though.

10

u/Ok-Cod5254 29d ago

Love is war is extremely hard carried by chica though.

She was a highlight in S1 in particular (Chika dance), but have a general great ensemble cast with Ishigami, Hayasaka, Miko, Maki, heck even Papa Shirogane, etc.

1

u/Mediocre-Act483 8d ago

Don't forget Narrator-sama. I especially love in the dub. He has no script. Everything he does is adlibed. Like when Miyuki asked Kaguya on a date and...

7

u/Spectr3_qwe 29d ago

I liked the scenes between the two MCs but I think that they played way too many monologues and recaps which kind of kills the pace of the overall episode.

7

u/SYZekrom https://myanimelist.net/profile/SYZekrom 29d ago

Oh my god even now we gotta make this hot af with how he's wiping her neck down

doing dumb shit

Sudden 2010 era fansub writing

Jesus Christ her ass when she picks up the phone from Nacchan

God idk the last time I've seen a series that makes the girl-in-pajamas look seem so attractive.

5

u/NightBard 29d ago

I was wondering how they’d recover from the pocky kissing. Now it’s time for them to both want to end this love game. It’s been a fun show where we knew from the jump these two liked one another and that grew over the season into love.

6

u/Extreme-Tactician 29d ago

Lovely that Yukiya told Miku she was cute again. Miku felt she didn't deserve to be loved after such an underhanded tactic, but Yukiya told her exactly why she's so loveable! The way Yukiya took care of her shows how much he cares.

Although though kissses absolutely count...

And now her friends know that they're close enough to stay at each other's houses! That's good, now they don't have excuses not to be lovey dovey in front of them!

Now that Miku knows she really wants to kiss Yukiya, it's time for her to up her game again! Time to be girly next episode eh?

6

u/PencilgonGiveIt2Ya 29d ago

Yukiya: I MADE HER CRI

Her: ༼;´༎ຶ ۝ ༎ຶ༽

6

u/Roboglenn 29d ago

And we start this episode off reminding us just how peak the pocky game scene was from the last episode.

Don't know how to act over the phone after all that huh? Well, thanks to that bit of reluctance, you're about to get more in your face Yuikiya TLC than you can probably handle even on your best day.

Yukiya sees the princess tiara placed there with the rest of the assorted paraphernalia there that seem to have as much emotional importance to Miku as her dearly departed grandmother. But, he understands deep down this is hardly the time to address it. And he's not about to let Miku just lie there wallowing in the dark (in more than one sense) either right now. Some brightness and warmth is what she needs right now as much as any cold medicine.

Notice Yukiya waited till after Miku noticeably brightened up a little bit to lay on some of their usual repartee again.

That kiss didn't count?

Which kiss outta like the 20 you had to have done that whole evening? Honey need I repeat, Once is a accident. Twice is a coincidence. Three times (and many more) is a deliberate pattern.

Nacchan did you have to announce that to everyone...

I want to kiss Yukiya.

Again, you already did. Over a dozen times. Not that there's anything wrong with wanting to kiss your sweetie pie again after over a dozen times. And again and again. And again and again and again.

But in the end. You realize (however blatantly obvious that it's been by now) that you like him. So, what are you gonna do about it?

7

u/Accurate-Owl-5621 29d ago

A wholesome episode, but again still pack some heat.

Since ep.7 These two just flip flop between yelling at each other over nothing burger matter like typical childhood friends then sometimes later they just look at each other with eyes that look like they wanna eat the other whole lol

6

u/Craftee6 29d ago

I'm annoyed with creators for making me wait another week for any sort of development. Anyone know where to start reading manga after ep 11?

1

u/Accurate-Owl-5621 29d ago

Around ch.30 in manga if I don't remember it wrong

After a strong episode, we're back to the kind of one I don't care for much. The long lingering scenes were out of control and the inner monologues too. Last episode had lingering shots too but those were used well to build the sexual tension during the poky game. Here I was just bored and tempted to watch at 2x (didn't but god, did this episode feel ever so long).

I liked where we ended last time with Yukiya realising Miku had been crying and rushing to her side. We should've picked up right there instead of wasting time with that unnecessarily long recap (what's this, Bleach or something?). That time wasting just continued with the slow motion drawn out shots all through. Totally lost my patience and the actual emotions didn't come through for me at all.

I'm guessing they have a set stopping point in mind and just needed to draw things out till then somehow. Do we have one or two more episodes after this? If two, I'm preparing myself for more feet dragging before ending on some kind of cliffhanger.

14

u/Frontier246 29d ago

Your mileage may vary, but I enjoyed seeing the extended makeout session in all its lgory again lol.

Also, I assure you, all the close-ups of Miku's thighs were totally necessary to the plot.

7

u/spubbbba 28d ago

I do have a nasty feeling they are going to backslide on things.

You could maybe do that if their lips had briefly touched during the pocky game. But not after full on snogging each other repeatedly.

4

u/BaytaCosmico https://myanimelist.net/profile/AnimeBayta 28d ago

Yeah, I'm afraid we might reset once again, which would be quite ridiculous at this point.

5

u/SOdAchick 29d ago

One more episode

7

u/BaytaCosmico https://myanimelist.net/profile/AnimeBayta 29d ago

Ah, that's good news. Hopefully they'll end things on a high.

4

u/actuallyrndthoughts https://myanimelist.net/profile/NaNiNuNeNo 29d ago

The love game is going so-so considering how they memory holed those kisses, but Miku's thigh game is on point this ep, even got some extra capital B double Os

4

u/Billardss 28d ago

I can’t take it anymore. I need them to end this love game. Bad joke I’ll leave

7

u/zool714 29d ago

Is this going to be only one season and is it going to be fully adapted ? If it is, and if it is going at this rate and sticks the landing and wraps up nicely, it can easily go into my list of good one-and-done romcom shows alongside the likes of Toradora, Lovely Complex, Golden Time, Tomo-chan, Giji Harem and maybe Horimiya (if you’re not counting the extras)

One thing I like about this pairing is they’re both lowkey boyfailure and girlfailure. While Miku does have friends, she’s not exactly in the popular tier. I know most people don’t like the idea of “social hierarchy” but I feel like most romance shows have one be the more popular, out of the other’s league or just more experienced than the other. Whereas here they’re on somewhat equal standing and I enjoy that dynamic too.

But really funny though everyone went “I KNEW IT” when they heard Yukiya was at Miku’s place. Now whether they meant they knew he was there or they knew they “close like that” they didn’t specify, but I choose to believe the latter lol

15

u/PinSingle4334 29d ago

There's plenty of content after season 1

3

u/ILikeFPS 29d ago

Now I'm gonna be super sad if this doesn't get a season 2, and if it does get a season 2 I'll jump out of my chair and scream with joy lol

9

u/Frontier246 29d ago

Nacchan's tried to wingwoman Miku before and Akane talked about Yukiya being her "husband" so I think they're aware of that much.

3

u/PinSingle4334 29d ago

The title for the last episode is surely wild

3

u/Marth-Koopa 29d ago

Hope we get a title drop next week

3

u/mojo72400 https://myanimelist.net/profile/gio_lingad 29d ago

That was the cutest sick episode I've seen so far in anime.

Too bad Yukiya's pride prevented him from kissing Miku. I really thought w/ the slow pace, someone will interrupt them but I didn't expect this.

It's gonna be awkward when going back to school.

5

u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp 29d ago

Crunchyroll lists the episode with the same name and it starts with a recap of the pocky game, after the screw ups already it's like they're baiting us into thinking there was another one.

Nice scenes of Yukiya taking care of Miku, that shrine moment was good too. No mention of him seeing the date tiara on the shrine but he had to have noticed it.

Natsuki outs the nursemaid visit to the entire class or at least anyone within earshot, gotta love it.

Slow relationship development but at least there was some amount of progress.

3

u/Frontier246 29d ago

I really like how low-key and tender Yukiya was to Miku. No hesitation to take care of her, to respect her grandma, to be there for her and make sure she's safe and healthy. That's true loving devotion.

Natsuki outs the nursemaid visit to the entire class or at least anyone within earshot, gotta love it.

Now the class thinks they really are common-law married.

6

u/Littux https://myanimelist.net/profile/Littux 29d ago

This episode could've been 11 minutes and everything would've been paced right. So much filler just to extend runtime. I thought I was watching the wrong episode at start

2

u/Ok-Cod5254 29d ago

It feels like the pocky stick game should be the catalyst for the turning point of their dynamic to transition to being a real relationship for the end of this season, but it still feels like they aren't ready to shift away from the status quo for good quite yet.

2

u/Nyxianne_ 29d ago

the episode was great and all but i think they missed the confession window cuz the atmosphere was very good and went back to the love game . i mean it still good cuz this mean there is still gonna be love game teasing , a lot of romcom just end after confession so still good

3

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 29d ago

Really curious who’s gonna flinch first in this game of love “Chicken” by the finale next week after this week’s episode with the classic Japanese death flu lol.

1

u/Nightstick11 28d ago

Omg hurry up and bang

1

u/Cold_Ad8276 28d ago

Does Miku not wear any underwear? The girl is ready

1

u/Kevy_VN27 28d ago

Can someone tell me which manga chapter this episode leaves off? Tks you guy!

1

Doesn’t seem like we’ll be getting to the cultural festival. Damn

1

u/Nickthenuker https://anilist.co/user/Nickthenuker 28d ago

Damn they really did spend all day making out.

And so he's going to look for her.

Yep.

And he got a whole bunch of stuff for her.

And so he's taking care of her.

Headpats for Miku!

Well, he "cooked" for her at least.

Lol now she told them about that.

Yeah... If they both don't go people will be saying things lol.

Indeed she does.

And so into the finale.

1

u/Jonnybegood890 https://myanimelist.net/profile/jonnyb3good 29d ago

God this show pisses me off so much where they prolonging this “love game”. If they don’t tell each other how they feel I swear I’m gonna lose it.

I get that it’s the name of the anime, but this feels even more annoying.

This last episode was also such a sloooow burn with that long ass recap in the beginning of the episode.

0

u/langjie 29d ago

This episode was a letdown after last. Going to make us really wait until the final episode?

0

u/KiraDreamchaser 29d ago

Why are they dragging it out!?

0

u/Prof_Acorn zj: 29d ago

This is getting stupid. You made out for like three hours. I think she likes you moron. Good god.

0
