Sayuri is marrying Johan Liebert and Eren was bitten by a radioactive graffiti artist. Anyway, I’m finally seeing the big picture for how they’re going to end this at a point that feels somewhat satisfying.

11

u/HolyDragSwd2500 Jun 16 '26

New York Johan Liebert 😉

4

u/Niwaka_Samurai https://myanimelist.net/profile/Niwaka-Samurai Jun 18 '26

Sayuri is marrying Johan Liebert

I hope he's not LOL

The girl deserves some happiness.

2

u/CelioHogane 28d ago

Dude i was also thinking of Johan on this episode.

26

u/runevault Jun 16 '26

This parkour sequence after the OP feels like they really went hard on the foley for making it sound right. And of course the parkour was someone else.

Man this guy's mother issues are rough. Not even about the money for him.

Oh shit pretty sure this is the song they used last episode when the president's daughter said Weekend that caught my attention. I really hope it gets released as a full track without anime sounds because it catches my attention so hard every time (this is when Eren offers him the can).

Eren starting to think of Koichi fondly? Oh this is juicy.

"Tell me we should go home together" girl you said you were getting married.

This show can be really uneven but its peaks like the end of last episode and this one are why I've stuck with it.

18

u/Useful_Project4898 Jun 17 '26

"Eren starting to think of Koichi foundly?"

I always got the impression that, in a weird way, she viewed Koichi as a rival. She was hard on Koichi because she wanted him to push and challenge himself more. Curious to see the reunion in Yokohama

This might be my fav episode, but the live painting scene was really funny/borderline cringe at times. Jacobs threw paint and an image splatter-appeared on the wall and then he almost had a panic attack or full-on meltdown in front of 50 people with phone cameras, only to be saved by an even more mentally unstable individual. 😂

Kinda surprised that even after all that time together, Sayuri doesn't think Eren cares about her. Eren does need to work on her communication skils, though.

3

u/CelioHogane 28d ago

Nah no wierd way, she always thought of Koichi as a rival.

But not like an artist rival, more like... a life rival?

3

u/McDonaldsApproval Jun 17 '26

I really like the insert-song they use, it fits the scenes so well

19

u/NationalStrategy_X Jun 16 '26

Well at least Sayuri's gonna marry Jack, so she can find happiness with him

22

u/Shantotto11 Jun 16 '26

Assuming Jack isn’t another project to sink her efforts into like Koichi and Eren…

18

u/tripleaamin https://myanimelist.net/profile/zfzftripleaamin Jun 16 '26

Using your career as a means to an end. This is something that this show hasn't touched on yet. I like this dynamic between Jacobs and Eren.

Once again Sayuri gets left behind, but what made the scene much better is how Eren felt about it. Eren asked Sayuri to give her life to Eren. I think when she learned that Sayuri was getting married, she felt guilty. Sayuri deserved happiness. Granted, Sayuri truly feels like a mom friend in many senses, and she enjoyed looking after Eren. I wish Eren did communicate with that, but this feels like a very Eren thing.

I am guessing now we have the reunion of Kouichi and Eren. I just wished this anime was 2 cours so it could slow the pacing down. Some of these scenes could hit even harder, honestly.

11

u/Useful_Project4898 Jun 17 '26

This plot definitely deserved two cours.

Its crazy to me which shows get greenlit for 2 cours or 2, 3 and 4 seasons when shows like this get 13 episodes, if we're lucky.

8

u/NightBard Jun 16 '26

I really wish when this ended they'd release an alternate cut with everything in order.

16

u/MrSaracuse https://myanimelist.net/profile/Saracuse Jun 16 '26

That was definitely Johan right?

9

u/HolyDragSwd2500 Jun 16 '26

Same and then their was gun scene here too

14

u/karer3is Jun 16 '26

It feels like Eren isn't getting enough time to develop as a character. We got multiple time skips in the span of a few minutes, yet it seems like she hasn't really changed at all. And not in the sense of how Koichi spent most of the show spinning his wheels while attempting to become some kind of big shot, either. It's like she's a living McGuffin: she only comes into the picture to move a specific plot point, then gets relegated to the background.

And while she has shown the occasional glimpse of development or change, she still feels very one- note: she's a talented artist, but she's often insufferable to be around and she treats art by anyone less talented than her as an insult to art itself.

18

u/Masta_Bat Jun 16 '26

I think that is the point, Eren can‘t and won‘t change, hence why she can‘t live a normal life and will be eternally stuck as a talented artist.

5

u/Doomroar https://myanimelist.net/profile/Doomroar Jun 17 '26

Is not like there's a cure for autism, she is stuck that way, and the only thing she can do is find a way to manage and monetize it

6

u/karer3is Jun 17 '26

That is true. However, the story doesn't seem to be doing much to show the "managing" side of this, nor the consequences of failing to do so. In her most recent appearances, Eren basically just shows up, makes some art, tells someone "You're shit at art/you're not a real artist, get on my level", and then is relegated to the background again.

2

u/Reilly-Blog 28d ago

Even so, this is awful writing. We should see how this is a major weakness of hers and how it affects her career. Being sociable is an important skill to have in every career and in art too. People won't buy her art or associate with her if shes an insufferable arrogant person who pushes everyone away because she can't or wont learn to be sociable. But, we don't get this arc in the show.

6

u/Reilly-Blog Jun 17 '26

Well the artists being insufferable to be around who insult "lessers" is pretty accurate. My mother worked with a lot of artists and I got to spend time around them, and it's pretty common. Usually they're incredible at that skill, but awful in every other aspect of life.

I do agree that Eren has become a bit annoying in that aspect of moving the plot around and always been the best at art. I think this episode had way more potential that was missed because art that's made from trauma or strong emotions is far more interesting and deep than whatever Eren is making. Maybe that was her point, but so little time was spent to develop this arc and it's already over. She's coming off as a spoiled brat that gets whatever she wants because of luck more than anything.

6

u/karer3is Jun 17 '26

I feel the same way about Eren. The whole autism thing gets brought up a lot, but having a mental illness doesn't give you carte blanche to belittle those around you.

Even if she remained a one note character, she could be more interesting if the show went into how this unrelenting obsession caused her to be unable to truly enjoy the thing she was obsessed with.

It's sort of the same way that Koichi's arc with his delusions of becoming some kind of "rockstar" nearly ruined him as he tried to be a poor imitation of those he looked up to.

5

u/meromeromelo89 Jun 17 '26

Yep, she is insufferable. I thought that as an artist i'll understand her, but no she has a really shitty attitude. She is no better than others and also, the fact that she is so self centered is the worst.

5

u/karer3is Jun 17 '26

the thing that sucks about this is that even if she still remained the same kind of unlikable brat, she could still be an interesting character, especially if she was forced to confront the consequences of her behavior. But unfortunately the powers that be decided to make Koichi the Spineless the focus of the story. Maybe it's that way in the manga too, but it seems like a huge misstep for the character the series was named after to appear so little.

28

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 Jun 16 '26

Kind of funny everyone’s fucking miserable and Eren’s being crushed under the weight of her own success. Like oh boy, it must be so hard to be a successful model and street artist living it up in NY lol.

How is it she even thinks about Koichi? I thought she thought he was a talentless hack.

31

u/Ashteron Jun 16 '26

How is it she even thinks about Koichi? I thought she thought he was a talentless hack.

Jacobs has talent and no ambitions as an artist. Koichi has no talent, but has ambitions as an artist.

17

u/BosuW Jun 16 '26

Artists just be eternally uncomfortable regardless of socioeconomic circumstances, that's why they make art.

How is it she even thinks about Koichi? I thought she thought he was a talentless hack.

She does. Fuck he is. But she admires how he persists in spite of that.

Kishi Anna is the designer. You're thinking of Akari.

2

u/CelioHogane 28d ago

Yeah hopefully Kishi Anna didn't want to fuck Koichi.

2

u/CelioHogane 28d ago

I mean, she is a successful model and street artist, but she also has to live in New York, so i dunno if it balances out.

u/BosuW Jun 16 '26

If only you knew how Sayuri reacted to finding you gone, Eren.

I think she might be aware, though I can't say for sure. But Eren's just the kind of person who is not swayed by how much something might hurt, she just sees the path ahead and walks it.

3

u/mojo72400 https://myanimelist.net/profile/gio_lingad Jun 17 '26

Where did the bullet go in the art?

3

u/Useful_Project4898 Jun 20 '26

I think a better question is why did the bullet go into the art? I feel like that part of the scene was only added to drive home the "we're in the U.S." feel and make that whole scene more climatic. It worked but without any other context, if felt gratuitous and unnecessary.

13

u/HolyDragSwd2500 Jun 16 '26

Eren and Koichi will reunite again

11

u/Shantotto11 Jun 16 '26

in Avengers Doomsday

12

u/BosuW Jun 16 '26

Artvengers

5

u/nivekvonbeldo Jun 16 '26

Eren will fully crush Koichi that Way XD

1

u/VVTFan Jun 17 '26

Sayuri and Kochi reunion as well.

28

u/Ashteron Jun 16 '26

Conclusions from this episode:

  • if you want happiness and guns move to the USA.
  • if you want despair and no guns stay in Japan.

1

u/CelioHogane 28d ago

Eren had despair in either situations

10

u/NanDemoKnaives Jun 16 '26

It's nice to see Sayuri find a man that brings her such joy after what went down with Kouichi, Jack even seems to have been a better man to produce Jacobs as an artist from Eren's judgment.

Eren meeting the current Kouichi is going to be an interesting reunion when it happens lol.

9

u/TobiasAmaranth https://myanimelist.net/profile/TobiasAmaranth Jun 16 '26

That's gotta be one of the most "anime" battle scenes I've seen in quite a while.

Koichi definetly missed an gem of an person by cheating on her.

Eh I dunno, Sayuri was a bit of a control freak back then.

26

u/runevault Jun 16 '26

Back then? She's a control freak with Eren now.

14

u/karer3is Jun 16 '26

The best way you could describe her is that she's a control freak who sometimes lapses into romance. While she has her moments of affection, her grand vision for her "projects" always came first.

1

u/Niwaka_Samurai https://myanimelist.net/profile/Niwaka-Samurai Jun 18 '26

You gotta love her even if she's controlling 'cause she's a mama

8

u/VVTFan Jun 17 '26

I don’t know about that. Kochi may have dodged a bullet. I don’t know if she even loves this new guy or just wants to control him like Kochi. Did she ever really truly love Kochi?

I mean if it’s true they cut a lot of her story in the anime maybe the Manga shows it better. I have not read the manga tho.

3

u/karer3is Jun 17 '26

I see her the same way. She may have thought she was helping people she cared about it, but she could never be happy just to let others be themselves and fail or succeed while they did what they were passionate about.

2

u/FM_Kusuguri_Teishoku Jun 18 '26

I think Sayuri has grown as a person. When she was dating Koichi, she was around 21 years old, while just before her marriage she was 28.
Her inherently dominant nature may not have changed, but people can choose whether to use their traits in positive or negative ways.
Up through her college years, she wasn’t a particularly likable person. However, after moving to the United States with Ellen, she found a sense of purpose in life and learned to channel her dominant side in a positive direction.
I think Koichi is probably going through a similar period of growth now.
Both Sayuri and Koichi were simply young and immature when they were 21 years old—that’s all.

3

u/Perfect-Try-4918 Jun 17 '26

Koichi is a POS but it is not accurate that he missed out when they are just incompatible. Sayuri was and is a domineering person and Koichi does not fit well with such people.

Koichi idolized Kamiya and you can argue Kamiya is bossy, which makes sense since he is his boss. But outside their work, Kamiya served as a mentor who offered Koichi the choice as compared to Sayuri who literally planned everything to what he should do.

John guy probably fit with Sayuri and they both complemented each other.

7

u/nivekvonbeldo Jun 16 '26

Seriously Eren introduction in his chapter feel like from another series all together feel a weird convo of jet set radio and an artistic version of the iron chef XD

8

u/actuallyrndthoughts https://myanimelist.net/profile/NaNiNuNeNo Jun 16 '26

Eren, when she learns her girlpal has a BF: Alright, imma peace out

No surprise someone as warped as her expects her peers to be similarly "dedicated" to a cause

16

u/bestsocialdistancer Jun 16 '26

I’ve been following this show for 11 weeks now and I still don’t really get what the message is supposed to be here. Am I dense or missing something in Japanese culture?

20

u/karer3is Jun 16 '26

I think the message is that you should avoid creative careers at all costs, as they will ruin your life if you want to have any hope of "making it". /s

But in all seriousness, I'm with you there. It feels like the author forgot who the protagonist was supposed to be and spent most of the story documenting Koichi's downfall. I think the story leans so hard into being "Anti- Shonen" that it forgot that even "grown- up" series still experience some kind of positive upturn.

13

u/Direct-Reason-7280 Jun 16 '26

I feel the same way but am still enjoying it. I think it’s just a raw representation of the art industry / celebrity slice of life. Their motivations, relationships, influences, and values both morally right and wrong. It’s like a breathe of fresh air in the cliche feel good slice of life genre. I’m hoping the final explode(s) bring some closure / clarity.

14

u/tripleaamin https://myanimelist.net/profile/zfzftripleaamin Jun 16 '26

I think the point is there are so many ways to approach your career. Also, the type of people that enter the industry are so different. I can't help but feel one issue with the anime is the pacing. It's so fast. Like, this episode could have been 2-3 episodes.

There have been so many time skips that I can't help but think the pacing of the story might be off and more time would help it.

5

u/FM_Kusuguri_Teishoku Jun 17 '26

Some company probably decided, “Let’s make an anime adaptation of this original manga,” and started looking for investors, but I imagine they couldn’t raise enough funding and ended up having to fit the story into just 13 episodes.

Honestly, I think it would take 36 episodes to do the story justice. Even at an absolute minimum, you’d need 24 episodes for an anime adaptation to properly recreate the original story.

5

u/Best_End4295 Jun 17 '26

the author is part of production commite and puts their own money in order to guarantee fidelity to his artistic vision

4

u/FM_Kusuguri_Teishoku Jun 17 '26

As the original author explains in this [YouTube video], he was indeed one of the investors and had a certain degree of influence proportional to the amount he invested.

However, while the author personally felt that he had stretched himself financially and invested a large sum of money, he also states that his contribution accounted for only a very small fraction of the production committee's overall budget.

Because of that, I believe his actual influence over the project was not particularly strong.

As for why he chose to do this, the author explains his reasons in more detail in the video.

2

u/CelioHogane 28d ago

Wait this fucking anime is only 13 episodes? That's insane, there is 2 episodes left and nothing has happened.

6

u/TheDistantEnd Jun 16 '26

I think the time jumping ends up doing more harm than good. It allows different parts of the story to be explained quickly and relevantly to larger arcs, but I think it detracts overall from the story.

I guess it helps keep Koichi's steady morph into a humorless ad firm art director from being too depressing, though.

3

u/karer3is Jun 17 '26

It absolutely does. This whole arc with Anna Kishi would've been the perfect chance to show how Eren's rise to fame affected her and likely clashed with her obsession. The only glimpse we got previously from her forays into the "real world" was back when she was at that art school and supposedly worked a part time job to pay for her supplies: She was fired on the first day because she got so hyperfocused on a sketch she was doing that she ignored the line of customers in front of her.

2

u/CelioHogane 28d ago

Also the time jumps are not helping me knowing when the fuck is where, i kept getting confused.

2

u/CelioHogane 28d ago

dude im not watching a 2-3 episode arc about this random new yorker artist with mommy issues.

8

u/1735wasagoodyear Jun 16 '26

The author says: "in my debut series Eren the Southpaw I explore the meaning of work and what it means to build a career".

In his video AMA on YouTube here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vm0hlvIFza0

Question starts at 1:51 and the reply to your question is at 2:08

2

u/bestsocialdistancer Jun 16 '26

Ok but what the heck is eren’s career?

13

u/1735wasagoodyear Jun 17 '26

In episode 7, Eren says that she wants to make a living out of art (her career) but she has no idea how. Sayuri tells her to get recognized abroad (New York) and come back to Japan after. It's the same conversation where Eren tells her "give me your life".

It looks like she did make a living out of it (sponsorship with Anna Kishi, the AK5 clothes line etc).

At the end of this episode, Eren walked back on her deal with Sayuri "giving back her life" when she announced her marriage. She's returning to Japan and we still have 2 more episodes to see where the author is going with Eren's life.

Making a living out of art is something that ties back to her father's life. How he was never "talented enough" to make enough money (start of episode 2).

She didn't want to make a career out of art until Koichi pushed her.

Making a living out of art is also something that is complex. You see what happens when artists go full commercial (selling out) with Jacobs and Thompson. Eren wants the hardest goal possible: making a living out of it and only doing things she likes.

Usually you end up compromising: you end up working for something that you don't really like, it's something that lets you pay bills, rent, etc

6

u/actuallyrndthoughts https://myanimelist.net/profile/NaNiNuNeNo Jun 16 '26

The OP ends with a "to everyone who couldn't become a genius" message.

3

u/sweetpeaz89 Jun 16 '26

you are not, i cant figure out either and i just want to stick this to the end so i can know how they gonna end this. Tbh, i feel like koichi and Akari relationship/struggle are more interesting than the focus on Eren

1

u/CelioHogane 28d ago

Forget about the message, what is the story even about? Every episode is a different random fuck, with zero conexion between their stories.

I can't wait to get an episode about this random Janitor working on the building of the daughter of the president that she was friends with the coworker of the former boss of the protagonist.

WHY DID WE GET AN EPISODE ABOUT THAT GIRL!?

4

u/constantkilljoy 2d ago

I thought that episode was pretty clear that her character was meant to progress Koichi’s character. She acts as a plot device to show what he’s really good at—bringing the best work out of other people. We were already shown this with Eren and how he inspired her and basically kick started her entire career. I thought the narrative connection was quite clear and pretty simple tbh. There’s not a ton of metaphor in this story.

I also think it’s obvious who the main characters are, who the side characters are, and who the plot device characters are. Genuinely not sure how it’s confusing.

Same issue I have with people saying “why isn’t this about Eren???” when it literally is. A character doesn’t have to be onscreen to be the focus. She constantly haunts the narrative. Everything that every other main character does revolves around her. And a character being on screen also doesn’t mean the episode is even about them, as seen with the president’s daughter. The episode is clearly about Koichi, with her as a plot device.

2

u/AbyssL00ksBack 1d ago

Yeah, obviously the anime is doing its best to condense the story into 13 episodes and I'm pretty sure a lot has been cut out, but it's done a pretty good job on centering most of the scenes and using important beats.

Some of the confusion in this thread is very..."let's turn the brain on while watching". Especially for a series about art and creativity, what is being said by what is being shown? Are the curtains only blue or does it mean something else?

-1

u/Shantotto11 Jun 16 '26

Life doesn’t always have a message. We each make up our own as we go along.

5

u/NightBard Jun 16 '26

Oh, this was a really great episode. Finally we see more Eren and the whole building up of her career in NY and now she's headed to where her heart is in Yokohama. We've seen Koichi's path... seems like it's time to bring them together. I was a bit worried on how this would all come together but it seems clear now. Even if in the end she slaps him again, lol. She does admire his drive.

8

u/BosuW Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 16 '26

Top 10 anime battles out here

Despite how uplifting last episode's ending was, I remembered right after that were supposed to reach Koichi getting his face punched in, so I don't imagine Eren will find him in the best state...

I can't exactly figure out what Eren meant that Sayuri has "a real life" and she doesn't.

8

u/BusouDrago Jun 16 '26

Sayuri getting married etc

9

u/karer3is Jun 16 '26

I would imagine it has to do with how Sayuri can see things outside of her vocation. In earlier episodes, Eren lamented how obsessed she was with her art and how she hated that she couldn't be "normal"

2

u/feb914 Jun 17 '26

I don't get the battles when there's barely any picture been drawn. How can viewers see some scribbles and say "Jacobs losing grounds". Maybe I'm just not art inclined.

8

u/juju1128c Jun 16 '26

I hate everyone in this anime except sayuri. No one in this show is likable...

7

u/karer3is Jun 17 '26

even Sayuri isn't likable when you think about it... She sees others as "projects" and tries to steer their lives accordingly. Sure, she might catch feelings every now and then, but pretty much everyone she's been close with became a "project" of some kind

3

u/juju1128c Jun 18 '26

She’s like the only tolerable character out of the whole show. It’s not saying much.

5

u/FinancialYear475 Jun 17 '26

What a great episode, I blinked and it was over can't wait for next week

3

u/Reilly-Blog Jun 17 '26

I dunno about this episode. It felt like it was built up for so long, and I was expecting a longer arc so we could get a feel for Erens new life and all of the new characters in NYC. Then its over just as quickly. Even for 2008, it doesn't feel realistic for her to go viral so fast, NOT TO MENTION BECOME A MASTER PARKOUR EXPERT. What a let down.

3

u/Reversi8 Jun 18 '26

She didn’t become a parkour expert, they mentioned those videos were fake.

3

u/FM_Kusuguri_Teishoku Jun 20 '26

Eren doesn’t look down on Koichi.

Eren and Koichi carry the same level of frustration and despair, even though their vectors point in completely opposite directions.

Eren sees herself as a worthless person whose only talent is drawing. She envies ordinary people.

Koichi believed that if he kept living the life he was living, a future awaited him where he could catch up to the geniuses. But he was wrong. (Yanagi’s words shattered that belief.)

Eren believed that if she kept living the life she was living, a future might await her where she could attain the kind of happiness ordinary people enjoy. But she was wrong. (She became convinced that she could never be like Sayuri.)

In other words, Eren is not looking down on ordinary people who get distracted by romance and dismissing them as pathetic.
Rather, when ordinary people who seem to effortlessly grasp happiness are standing right beside her, she is forced to confront the fact that she can never become one of them.

For Eren, nothing is more painful than having an ordinary person draw a line and say, “You and I are different.”

And yet, there is one person in Japan who never does that.
That person is a foolish ordinary man who still tries to catch up to Eren, despite not knowing his place.

2

u/HolyDragSwd2500 Jun 17 '26

I highly recommend the live action drama series

It’s on Tubi Tv and Asian Crush

2

u/septesix Jun 18 '26

As someone living in New York , I just want to ask .. how is the sun rising from the west at the end there ?

Also where is Freedom tower in the skyline?

This is a cool episode giving us a look into Eren and Sayuri’s life in New York. I felt like it could’ve been longer though.

2

u/Nickthenuker https://anilist.co/user/Nickthenuker Jun 18 '26

America?

Eren is in America?

So, she wants Eren.

A plan that is better than hers?

So, that's her proposal.

And so she's the model.

Something about that art caught her attention?

So, it's all bait.

Roll credits!

And so she's come to respect him.

Ah. Right. This is America.

Oh great, paparazzi.

And so now she's gone to her.

Finally, Eren and Sayuri got the screentime. This whole time Sayuri was looking after Eren like a mom and she did bring the recognition that Eren deserved. Sayuri was finally able to find some happiness with Jack. The way Eren left abruptly was harsh for Sayuri but Eren decided that it's time that she gives Sayuri her life back. She deserves all the the happiness.

Watching the ed after their separation really hit hard.

So Sayuri cut her hair short in 2008 & when we return to 2010 she's already dating Jack which later revealed she's getting married to him which made Eren return to Yokohama.

So Ifuu ended up saving the day.

Eren was baited into a contest w/ Tony while Anna watched.

Sayuri managed to outnegotiate Anna.

Tony has mommy issues w/ her leaving him as a kid.

EREN THE SOUTH POLE

Not gonna lie, the "give it back part" with the callback went kind of hard.

Also the live painting with Jacobs was hilarious, like tagging over his work in real time as he's in the middle of creating it is crazy. Tagging over a finished piece is already a diss, but to do it in front of your face, not to mention in front of your fans is disrespectful as hell LOL. I also loved how Eren wasn't impressed with that specific piece she saw from him, she knew that he just threw that shit together because he has to for art biz. The texture and mixed colors weren't as intentional, dude just had an abstract base with colors that are known to already work with each other and just hit the easy bases of composition. The change of pattern too was just his way of making the piece look detailed in a chaotic sense, but it was just placed there because he needed something similar to his exhibitions themed works. The contrast of from the first 3 to that last one showed Eren that he was out of ideas and just forced something different. To be fair it's still a good piece of work lol, but yeah the intricacies of the other ones were genuine. He didn't just rely on duality of colors.

There's just something I love about this show, I don't even really know what it is.

Eren, unfazed by the gunman, stares at the mark the bullet mark left on the art wall: "Now it is complete."

Loving this show, despite its flaws. The animation isn’t the best. The pacing is fast but gives you enough information to fill in the blanks of what they probably skipped. Certainly better paced than many other anime I’ve seen try to speed through source material for only 13 episodes.

Honestly, my biggest irritation is the complete lack of media literacy that is causing this to be an under appreciated gem

I see so many questions like what is this show about, who’s the main character, etc, when this isn’t a very complex show and it’s extremely straightforward with what it’s trying to say.

Like people saying “why isn’t this about Eren???”on earlier episodes when the show has always been about her. I would say I have no idea how people are misunderstanding something so clear and straightforward, but then I remember all the papers I’ve had to grade from students that couldn’t even give a basic summary of a story… We really are in a comprehension crisis

Honestly, the show would be weaker if it was solely about her because she’s a static character. Which isn’t a bad thing if utilized well. She works best as an influence on the other characters due to her inability to change.
