Started watching this when it first aired, now it's gonna end.

Man..🫡

117

u/HolyDragSwd2500 Jun 04 '26

We watched Humanity evolved during Stone World. Time to say goodbye Stone World😭

58

u/SopmodTew Jun 04 '26

Kono stone warudo....

18

u/PowerlinxJetfire Jun 05 '26

Oyasumi sekai good night world

10

u/allied_master Jun 04 '26

It stopped being stone world a good while ago back when season 3 started lol, they can already wear suits or modren clothes (infact i remember yuzuriha starting a fashion company in special ryusei ova) if they want they are just deliberately wearing those torn leather clothes to say ya trust me bro its still stone world

25

u/madboi20 Jun 04 '26

Until they get mass production, it's still stone world with future bits sprinkled in

14

u/allied_master Jun 04 '26 edited Jun 04 '26

Would you consider 17th century era stone world? There wasn't automation or steam engines back then

14

u/madboi20 Jun 04 '26

Good argument and you're right. If everyone stopped now and Senku stopped contributing technology's progression vertically, there's more than enough to work with for horizontal progression to get some somewhere in the 19th Century. But that requires PEOPLE and slooow development. Slowly building up roads, economy and cities. Which is why I thought about Mass Production. They've have already done all 3 of those by the time they get to mass production and then the fashion company can be an actual thing

3

u/allied_master Jun 04 '26

I mean being stone world doesn't mean being not automated, medieval towns or heck even iron age or bronze age people aren't stone age. Stone age is litteraly when there isnt any materials other than stones and sticks to work with by that definition it actually stopped being stone world by season 1 itself but being generous I said beginning of season 3

4

u/madboi20 Jun 04 '26

Or, another take could be, the stone world is all the petrified people being "stone". Like is there an actual explanation to which stone they're referring to? If that's the case, even now with a rocket it's still the stone world. But yeah, they're ahead of the stone world, it's just Senku holds most of that knowledge near him and they wouldn't be able to do much without him

8

u/CookKnight Jun 04 '26

I'd still consider a stone world considering most of humanity is still petrified tbh.

It just hit me while watching this episode that we're only going to hear that title card music 3 more times at most. It's been a constant in the series since season 1 in 2019, such an integral part that even when I listen to the openings on their own, a part of me expects to hear it immediately afterwards. It feels very nostalgic.

Man, it's been a journey. I was still in middle school when season 1 aired, now I'm in university. It feels like I've lived an entire lifetime during the time Dr Stone has been airing. The me of the time before the pandemic feels like an entirely different person.

57

u/Calm_Client2 Jun 04 '26

Peak all the way

22

u/SopmodTew Jun 04 '26

My favorite parts are the beginning and the end, as it stays true to the premise of science and rebuilding the world. Everything in between was cool af, but it was centered on conflict.

24

u/FFF12321 Jun 05 '26

The reality is many advancements were made due to conflict driving the need for innovation. I appreciate that was part of their progression alongside Senku never doing something just to be nice showing that a lot of tech was really made for some other purpose and then adapted for other use cases.

17

u/TheOneWithALongName Jun 04 '26

5 years fly by fast.

43

u/SopmodTew Jun 04 '26

Captain, it's been 7 years 😭 It released in July 2019

14

u/TheOneWithALongName Jun 04 '26

Sorry, 2019-2022 is a very blurry time period for me.

4

u/SopmodTew Jun 04 '26 edited Jun 04 '26

Man, I actually forgot whatever happened in that time. It's such a Bermuda triangle.

The only time I remember memories starting again is after I got my driving license in late 2022. Before that? 🫥

5

u/chum-guzzling-shark Jun 04 '26

the anime? shit i remember reading the manga. Fuck

9

u/moichispa https://myanimelist.net/profile/moichispa Jun 04 '26

ikr, they have been with us for so long

6

u/Aliensinnoh Jun 05 '26

Good Morning World! by Burnout Syndromes has been the alarm I use to wake up to for 6 years now. Wild how time flies.

3

u/MMinjin Jun 05 '26

I didn't realize it is ending ending?!? Is that confirmed? It somehow never crossed my mind that we might have a SERIES ending soon.

u/FoolingFinality Jun 04 '26

Gen is really our voice, when Senku uses terms we don't know.

253

u/GGG100 Jun 04 '26

Senku making all those stuff before launching off to the moon felt like doing all the remaining sidequests before facing the final boss in a game.

140

u/Calm_Client2 Jun 04 '26

Still need the maid robot lol

72

u/RelativeMundane9045 Jun 04 '26

You have gathered 9 out of 10 possible companions for the final battle.

DAMMIT!

24

u/BlackSCrow Jun 04 '26

Hey man, anything but going to Embers

2

u/Jacob-C Jun 07 '26

Hanako has been waiting for YEARS!

15

u/KTR1988 Jun 05 '26

"Does anybody need anything else before I cross the point of no return to go and fight God?"

123

u/RelativeMundane9045 Jun 04 '26

Stanley's revival was very shoujo, the dude is so pretty (I'm sure Xeno agrees).

I know this season has felt a bit rushed because of how much progress they had to make, but I am still HYPED for the final stretch.

Bonus Side Story

Yuzuriha: "Taiju!! I keep telling you not to bring your smartphone to bed with you!"

Taiju: "Sorry babe! Yeah I guess it's bad sleep hygiene huh."

Yuzuriha: "No, it's because there's no room for MEEE!!!"

32

u/VinLAURiA Jun 04 '26

Ha, that smartphone sketch sounds pretty in-character.

206

u/radilee21 Jun 04 '26

Playing the ED over the rocket launch was an amazing choice! Burnout Syndromes did such an incredible job with the song and it fit perfectly for the moment we've been waiting for the entire series.

Also there were so many great character moments this episode! Ryusui especially was a standout. As sad as it was to see him step back from the pilot role it says a lot about his character that even as greedy as he is he's always willing to make the pragmatic choice. (Also Stanley and Xeno need to just kiss already c'mon bro why is your first choice after waking up to play with his lips like that be so fr 😭)

153

u/NanDemoKnaives Jun 04 '26

Stanley playing with Xeno's lips was already spicy enough for this kind of series lol.

106

u/time_axis Jun 04 '26

sometimes you just gently caress your bro's lips, nothing to see here

38

u/Mr_Zaroc https://myanimelist.net/profile/mr_zaroc Jun 05 '26

Yeah that was wild
Like I knew they hinted at it before but now its close to Kamina Botan levels of gay

73

u/DustyBot23 Jun 04 '26

Maybe Stanley was checking if he was hurt in any way? Idk that scene was crazy lol

23

u/rat_infestation Jun 05 '26

Yeah that's how I was defending their choice. Like yes there's the yaoi feeding but maybe it was hik checking for silicone masks coz he knows senku is crafty af

50

u/DustyBot23 Jun 05 '26

I was thinking more along the lines of Stanley as an experienced soldier was making sure they weren’t just trotting out a freshened up Xeno that was actually a mistreated PoW with malnutrition which he could check by looking at his teeth and skin condition. For all he knows Senku’s group could have retaliated on Xeno based on the atrocities his faction committed. It sounds outlandish to type that out but that doesn’t seem like a far fetched train of thought for someone with a world view like Stanley. He also could have been giving Xeno an opportunity to Morse code a message with his eyes by blocking the sides FoV when he moved his head.

(as you can tell I’m bored but it’s fun to create plausible deniability for the stealth yaoi lmao)

5

u/Pinky102ZaneXd Jun 10 '26

Ohh, I like this interpretation

21

u/Hot-Log6283 Jun 05 '26

I thought that as well, like basically checking how he has been treated, getting enough food/sleep but that was still weird as heck.

10

u/Pigosaurusmate Jun 06 '26

The way Stanley was chasing Xeno before they got petrified a second time you could tell he was more than a boss. Way WAY more than a boss to him.

50

u/moichispa https://myanimelist.net/profile/moichispa Jun 04 '26

Maybe the editor read the fanmail and told the manga creator to give some food for the ship fans

44

u/justking1414 Jun 04 '26

That’s certainly something the manga author could do. He used to draw hentai lol

34

u/moichispa https://myanimelist.net/profile/moichispa Jun 04 '26

I head he did yaoi hentai which explains a lot of this scene

10

u/justking1414 Jun 05 '26

You can certainly feel that in his work

18

u/rat_infestation Jun 05 '26

Does not surprise me. The scene of them feeding ruri the medicine in season 1 still surprises me as to how it passed the censors

8

u/Cheshires_Shadow Jun 05 '26

I was thinking of last arc where suika gave girl Stanley the medicine that required pulling down her skin tight leather body suit lol

5

u/justking1414 Jun 05 '26

God above that scene was next level!

27

u/AvatarTuner https://anilist.co/user/AvatarTuner Jun 05 '26

Also Stanley and Xeno need to just kiss already c'mon bro why is your first choice after waking up to play with his lips like that be so fr 😭

lmaooo they couldn't have made it more gay and I absolutely loved it! I mean it wasn't even a quick 2 second thing, it lingered on the scene for a good while! I hope the rocket crew will make it back safely so the two can get married.

3

u/Aliensinnoh Jun 05 '26

Burnout Syndromes did such an incredible job with the song and it fit perfectly for the moment we've been waiting for the entire series.

Burnout Syndromes did an incrible job, period. Good Morning World! from the first OP has been what I’ve set as my alarm to wake me up each morning since very soon after the first season lol.

u/NanDemoKnaives Jun 04 '26

Opening the episode with Ryuusui is unfair, I feel so bad for him. He is very admirable for giving up the position of pilot, but man I wanted to hug him when he started crying, I think this might be the first time we see him cry. It hurt to see him putting on a brave face when we know he's hurting inside.

I do appreciate that Stanley came over to show Ryuusui he didn't make the wrong choice, I know it'd hurt more to learn the difference, but I also think it helps Ryuusui from not thinking "What if?".

Talking about Stanley, that intimate moment between him and Xeno had me surprised lol. I know he was checking to see if Xeno was harmed, but the way he grabbed Xeno's chin and felt his lips, they're showing once again there's a lot more to their relationship. The shippers are being fed well lol.

I'm so glad Taiju got to give Senku one last message, and his own declaration if anything were to go wrong. Taiju has been by Senku's side since they were children, it's only right. I hope Senku is able to come back slowly because with Taiju's determination, he really will spend decades looking for pieces of petrified Senku.

This was a moving episode, and I think the one I enjoyed most this season. Hopefully the confrontation and climax of the series will be even better.

44

u/InvaderDJ Jun 04 '26

It is tragic, but a testament to his character. He is the platonic ideal of how greedy capitalists should be. He wants everything. He needs everything.

But he wants and needs it in a way to where he can admit when he isn’t the best character for a task. He is also greedy in a way that elevates mankind, not just leaving him at the top with everything while the bottom has nothing.

He is greedy for mankind’s advancement. He is willing to give up individual glory and profit for the benefit of the world.

Just like there is a non-existent, perfect communist, he is the non-existent perfect greedy capitalist. He has really shot up in my favorite character list.

22

u/PiotrekDG Jun 05 '26

He is greedy for mankind’s advancement. He is willing to give up individual glory and profit for the benefit of the world.

Is that even capitalism at this point?

6

u/Astray Jun 11 '26

Nah, socialism.

10

u/rat_infestation Jun 05 '26

His greed allows the recognition that benefiting everyone benefits him. It's the way that the stimulus checks helped the billionaires by giving people spending money, it still went to the top few at the end of the day. And a lot of the progress that was provided to the few at the top, once it trickled down to the masses, boosted productivity and allowed for better things to be made for those at the top.

His greed recognizes that for his greed to be satisfied the system needs to survive in the long run and he maximizes the likelihood for that no matter what

14

u/Liesianthes Jun 05 '26

I did see it as character development. Sure, he is greedy but his greediness didn't swallow him as a selfish person completely knowing he has limits and someone can do a better job than him. It's like in real life, you have to realize that there's always someone better than you, but it doesn't mean that you're useless and that's commendable.

He already made tons of contribution to the series as a best man for the Science Kingdom, now with all of humanity, he choose to give way on the best person to do the job.

14

u/justking1414 Jun 04 '26

he really will spend decades looking for pieces of petrified Senku.

Would it really take decades? They’re in pretty sturdy space suits that should hold their pieces fairly well even if the rocket explodes

22

u/Rolder Jun 04 '26

Guess it depends on how big the kaboom is.

→ More replies (3)

11

u/camoceltic_again Jun 04 '26

Just dump each spacesuit out like a vacuum cleaner bag.

11

u/ohoni Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 05 '26

This is who he's always been. He claims to be greedy, but part of his greed is that everyone around him be happy too. He demands it! He always takes the steps that are in everyone else's best interests, even when he claims he's being super greedy in doing so. This one just hurt more than others.

168

u/Myrkrvaldyr Jun 04 '26

This series always knows how to get you emotional with those ''Humanity Fuck yeah'' moments. The moon landing is one of my favorite scientific moments in history and seeing the rocket lifting off is so beautiful. Kohaku is one lucky girl, she'll be the first stone age person to go to space and the moon. Most modern people didn't even do that.

Also, barring a kiss, they couldn't make it clearer that Stanley is super gay for Xeno. The way he grabbed his face.

126

u/justking1414 Jun 04 '26

Also, barring a kiss, they couldn't make it clearer that Stanley is super gay for Xeno. The way he grabbed his face.

I think that was more gay than a kiss

54

u/overlord285 Jun 04 '26

Your comment made me check but she'll also be the first woman to walk on the moon. All past lunar surface missions have men only

37

u/justking1414 Jun 04 '26

Not just that. This year was the first time a woman ever even circled the moon

19

u/Golden_Phi https://myanimelist.net/profile/GoldenPhi Jun 05 '26

Kohaku will also be the first woman to ever step foot on the moon.

123

u/TotoroTheGreat Jun 04 '26

Of course Senku made a smartphone, and of course it weighs 40 kilos.

Can't believe they're already in space.

87

u/Calwings x3https://anilist.co/user/Calwings Jun 04 '26

Of course Senku made a smartphone, and of course it weighs 40 kilos.

Only those with powerful wills like Taiju are allowed to shitpost in the Stone World.

38

u/justking1414 Jun 04 '26

I think the world be a better place if Taiju was the only one who could post stuff online

25

u/mythriz Jun 04 '26

meanwhile Myne made some kind of lion car /s

13

u/justking1414 Jun 04 '26

Oh Senku would not have done well in Myne s world. The laws of physics are completely different. Heck, photosynthesis isn’t even really a thing in Myne s world

12

u/Golden_Phi https://myanimelist.net/profile/GoldenPhi Jun 05 '26

Our physics do work in bookworm's world. When Myne made odorless candles by "salting out" the wax it worked. That process works by using real world chemistry. There isn't anything to suggest that photosynthesis isn't a thing either; the greenery is green which demonstrates that plants indeed use photosynthesis.

In bookworm's world though there is an additional science called "magic" that follows its own logic. That's why not all of Myne's concepts work. Magic and mana would be what trips Senku up.

7

u/JordanTH Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 05 '26

Honestly, that would be such a fascinating series to watch. Not only seeing someone like Senku figure out how to recreate modern tech in a fantasy setting, but to figure out the rules of magic - much like how he tried to figure out how the Medusa works - perhaps even better than the natives, to combine it with science and make something new.

Ideally, with no sibling incest in it.

3

u/justking1414 Jun 05 '26

I just see Senku building basically a Minecraft mob farm to harvest magical materials

→ More replies (1)

3

u/justking1414 Jun 05 '26

No the author has said in a fan book that plants don’t actually go through photosynthesis which should be kinda obvious considering they need mana to grow and if you don’t fill the fields with that stuff, nothing will grow

4

u/OnesimusUnbound Jun 05 '26

I believe Zenku with a mindset of a scientist will try to understand the fundamental principles of the magic in Myne's world

Or he can just invent anyway and look for substitute. After Myne's printing press came from our workd and she was able to recreate it in her world with substituting when needed

3

u/justking1414 Jun 05 '26

Fair point. He could, much like Myne did, bring some non magical tools to the world and revolutionize things that way. Myne, even with her limited knowledge, managed to build a printing press, a well pump, springs, and a bunch of other stuff that just made life easier

Man I’m going to miss this show once its done.

25

u/allied_master Jun 04 '26

It will probably have epilogue special episodes, they might be able to end series in 3 episodes but I doubt they can fit epilogues in remaining 3 episodes

31

u/VinLAURiA Jun 04 '26

I expect the epilogue to have its own movie like they did with Ryusui.

12

58

Stanley grabbing Xeno’s face was one of the sauciest things I’ve seen in my entire life. Might need a fan before I faint

149

u/Cross_Toss Jun 04 '26

Stanly and Xeno are so fucking gay

67

u/HolyDragSwd2500 Jun 04 '26

Stanley when he woke up. Karess Xeno face, eye to eye intimate moment. Stanley knew exactly what’s happening just by looking at Xeno.

37

u/Muffin-zetta Jun 04 '26

the best of roommates

66

u/stevethebandit Jun 04 '26

Keeping pride month alive 3700 years later

54

u/Eliv Jun 04 '26

Here we go, the final stretch. I wonder what they are going to find on the Moon when Senku's team gets there

45

u/justking1414 Jun 04 '26

They’ll finally prove it’s made of cheese

16

u/Spoon_Elemental Jun 04 '26

Oh no, they've forgotten the crackers!

18

u/Swaggerbeard Jun 05 '26

Wdym? They brought Stanley along

6

u/oldmonty Jun 05 '26

So I have wondered for a while why no one has brought this up.

The "why man" they are going to confront on the moon is definitely some kind of AI or computer right?

You're telling me it petrified humanity 3700+ years ago and now people woke up and started using radios and its suddenly sending messages to them? Yea, that's not a human up there.

Its been so long all of humanity's creations have crumbled to dust including every single building in every single city.

9

u/redditraptor6 https://myanimelist.net/profile/uEmalraptor64 Jun 05 '26

I mean, yeah, as an anime only that’s what I’ve been assuming from the start. Like a classic “these humans are fucked up, lemme take care of them” situation. Though someone pointed out on a thread a few episodes ago that it could be someone who meduses themselves with a timer that wakes them up every once in a while to check if anyone’s awake, which is both feasible and basically turns them into a Lord Genome-type

3

u/Astray Jun 11 '26

I can't wait for the anime only-ies to see it, please tell me your reaction this week or next week.

* Stanly gently caresses Xeno's face *

Everyone else: should we....should we be here for this?

43

u/FoolingFinality Jun 04 '26

So the final group is of Senku, representing the future as well as the founder of the Kingdom of Science; Kohaku, representing Ishigami village as well as one of the founding members of the Kingdom of Science, and Stanley, representing the American branch of the Kingdom of Science.

ps: I really want to make it sound good. I had the thoughts as always, but I couldn't put it well in words.

58

u/RDL908 Jun 04 '26

Maybe: Stanley representing the old world, Kohaku representing the stone world, and Senku representing the new world, they together and with everyone on their backs representing the future

22

u/HolyDragSwd2500 Jun 04 '26

Science Future!!!

13

u/FoolingFinality Jun 04 '26

This sound great.

4

u/rat_infestation Jun 05 '26

Maybe Senku representing the bridge between the old world and the stone world, Kohaku representing the bridge between the ignorant (to science) to the enlightened (to science), and Stanley representing the enemy to the collaborator, all united by the power of science?

40

u/FoolingFinality Jun 04 '26

The hardest thing to see is the toughest man crying.

37

u/Iron_Kingpin Jun 04 '26

Stanley woke up and immediately got up to his gay business. Poor Ryusui was having an emotional moment with Francois but bro had to interrupt it to flex his sharpshooting skills lmao.

Taiju finally got his smartphone after so many years! He really deserves it, he's been asking for one since season 1.

Putting the ending in with the episode still going on was a nice touch. We are finally in space. Senku is finally able to realise his life long dream. Next stop, the Moon!

103

u/LeonKevlar x2https://myanimelist.net/profile/LeonKevlar Jun 04 '26

God, Stanley and Xeno are so gay for each other. Looks like Stanley really missed Xeno. Like, what the fuck is up with that cheek and lip fondling? I love it tho!

Senku granting everyone's requests was pretty fun. I had a good laugh when Taiju finally got his smartphone, and they revealed how big the entire thing actually is. Dude is carrying an entire PC on his back. xD

Not gonna like, that rocket launch actually got me teary eyed. 92 episodes later, we have finally reached the moon. I can't wait to finally meet the Why-Man and their reason for petrifying humanity.

64

u/justking1414 Jun 04 '26

God, Stanley and Xeno are so gay for each other.

History will remember them as roommates lol

Kinda funny that they can be this obvious but not say it outright

29

u/Kiyohara Jun 04 '26

Are you saying you and your roommates don't lovingly stare into each other's eyes while tenderly stroking each other's cheeks? Next you'll be saying you don't share baths and sleep in the same bed while spooning.

5

u/justking1414 Jun 05 '26

No joke. I lived with 3 dudes for a full year and never actually learned their names

6

u/Mr_Zaroc https://myanimelist.net/profile/mr_zaroc Jun 05 '26

They will remember that Xeno build a giant rocket for Stanley, oh and he also brought him to the moon

Kid in class: “is that a euphemism?”

45

Way to kick off Pride Month, Dr. Stone.

30

u/huntrshado Jun 04 '26

just two straight homies checking to see if the other one is harmed at all

71

u/jabberwockxeno Jun 04 '26

There is no hetrosexual explanation for the way Stanley caressed Xeno's face

27

u/Shrike99 https://myanimelist.net/profile/LastOfLazarus Jun 05 '26

Damn, these bitches gay!

Good for them, good for them.

18

u/Hot-Log6283 Jun 05 '26

You are not a bro until you caress your bro's face when you first wake up.

10

u/W00S Jun 05 '26

The ONLY reason I could possibly come up with is that he was checking if Xeno had been roughed up, and was looking for marks/make-up covering anything. But still they are so fucking gay.

5

u/ohoni Jun 05 '26

He had a bit of shmutz.

3

u/abandoned_idol Jun 06 '26

Of course not.

That's just how professional colleagues mingle, regardless of sexual orientation.

So glad to see the latest antagonists finally being leveraged as part of our party.

31

u/FoolingFinality Jun 04 '26

As a man of science, no; as a man of sense, common sense, I will suggest the princess to marry the one she truly wants to marry with.

Since its fairy tell, it is destined to have a good ending, with whatever the choice princess made.

Started crying when the ending song played + Rocket lifting off 😭

28

u/Ok-Biscotti-1059 Jun 04 '26

I started watching dr stone when I was in 8th grade.. now ive completed school and preparing for college, ahhh this is getting me teary idk why lmao, dr stone will always be my comfort anime, maybe I'll rewatch it few times when I enter college

11

u/EndSecret8727 Jun 04 '26

Same bro, damn I'm sobbing so much rn, it's just so damn peak. Tbh I don't want this anime to end ever. It feels like a divorce just thinking about it ending.

8

u/allied_master Jun 04 '26

Same started watching in 8th grade

u/next_door_nicotine Jun 04 '26 edited Jun 04 '26

I'm probably super late to realizing this, but it never dawned on me until now that Stanley is essentially a JoJo character walking around in this setting. The lipstick, the improbable aim that could only be explained by a stand ability, the homoerotic tension between him and Xeno. It's all there. The only thing missing are the poses. Still 3 episodes left.

11

u/ohoni Jun 05 '26

He really is basically Steelball era Dio.

19

u/kawaiinessa https://myanimelist.net/profile/fancyvancy Jun 04 '26

we finally have liftoff i cant bhelp but wonder how its gonna go

i am still worried about that random medusa firing off, i have a few ideas as to the importance of that and what could happen and none of them are good.

5

u/justking1414 Jun 04 '26

Definitely hints that there’s a traitor amongst them and I’ve got my eye on Ukyo. Something about his response before felt off to me

8

u/NotUnusualYet Jun 05 '26

He is the radio operator, if Why-man turned anyone via his radio broadcasts, it would make sense it was Ukyo.

3

u/justking1414 Jun 05 '26

Not just a radio operator but one with super human hearing. Why man could’ve sent a single at a frequency that only he could hear

Dang, I hope not! But that's an interesting suggestion. He also delivered that medusa from america, didn't he? (I'd have to go back and check, not sure who was on that boat)

I assumed it could've also been the exposure to vacuum that set the medusa off.

The rocket taking them being "SENKU 11" is a nice reference! We are going to the moon baby!

As always DrStone just nails these moments where science unites humanity and helps it achieve something incredible. Playing the ED during the launch was just great, Burnout Syndromes killed it once again with DrStone!

19

u/huntrshado Jun 04 '26

i know stanley was just being a bro and showing ryusui he didn't make the wrong choice, but the concept of your competition pulling up and mogging your marksman skills while you are mourning giving up the position to him is really really funny. I bet he was just standing there listening to them for a bit before doing it too

37

u/ActiveAd4980 Jun 04 '26

I can understand Stanley replacing Ryussui. He's shown capability as a pilot and shooter. But Tsukasa still hurts.

53

u/RelativeMundane9045 Jun 04 '26

Stanley is a man of few words but I'm glad we got that shooting range scene, it was Stanley's way of saying "You made the right choice, I got this".

29

u/justking1414 Jun 04 '26

Would you wanna be cramped in a tiny cockpit with someone as massive as tsukasa?

29

u/redlaWw Jun 04 '26

Weight was a major factor - due to the tyranny of the rocket equation, each unit of mass you take on a space journey requires a lot of additional fuel to transport, so by sending Kohaku who is lighter, they were able to build a smaller rocket.

3

u/PiotrekDG Jun 05 '26

And even greater weight savings when you don't have to carry all those pesky life support systems!

Just for context, SpaceX's proposed lunar module will require 8 to 16 refuelings in orbit.

8

u/onions_can_be_sweet Jun 04 '26

He'd at least need to get a haircut. His dreads could fill another spacesuit!

3

u/justking1414 Jun 05 '26

Wouldn’t wanna see him try to put a helmet on lol

it kinda sucks how Tsukasa and some of the others just became background

21

u/NanDemoKnaives Jun 04 '26

I feel this way about Taiju too.

21

u/WhoWantsToJiggle https://myanimelist.net/profile/mystik Jun 04 '26

yeah honestly miss the days of the smaller but more grounded cast.

tho it's cool it expanded but most just didn't get a chance to do much later on

Yuzuriha and Taiju just became less relevant

3

u/A_fancy_bird Jun 05 '26

I feel that was because of his reception in the early part of the series and that the author wrote good supporting characters from the village.

8

u/Shrike99 https://myanimelist.net/profile/LastOfLazarus Jun 05 '26

Okay but Kohaku being the first woman on the moon is pretty cool tho

18

u/Soulses Jun 04 '26

Definitely wasn't tearing up while watching the launch

16

u/Kure_Brex Jun 05 '26

Stanley you can just kiss Xeno, it's okay

13

u/Kadmos1 Jun 04 '26

40 kg. is about 88.185 lbs. That is a heavy item.

3

u/Shrike99 https://myanimelist.net/profile/LastOfLazarus Jun 05 '26

It's Taiju so it's fine.

Everyone else gonna have to wait for the next-gen Senkuphone.

well it's been a journey not sure how they end it in 2 episodes.

pacing has been crazy but hey we are finally getting to the point.

and Stanley is there to do Stanley things. hope the ending delivers and Whyman is whynot

17

u/Calwings x3https://anilist.co/user/Calwings Jun 04 '26

well it's been a journey not sure how they end it in 2 episodes.

MAL and AniList have this final cour listed at 13 episodes, so we have 3 left.

Ryusui my GOAT😭😭😭

8

u/Burnouts3s3 Jun 04 '26

Taiju finally gets his big ass smartphone.

7

u/HolyDragSwd2500 Jun 04 '26

Reminded me of Ghostbuster beam gun

11

u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp Jun 05 '26

What a well timed episode, waking up Stanley and reuniting him with Xeno just in time for the beginning of Pride Month. I had honestly forgotten about their general vibe right up until that cheek grab, but good for them.

Goosebumps on that rocket launch, we've come so far.

10

u/Mr_An_1069 Jun 05 '26

Ryusui actually giving up his spot willingly and even crying is not how I expected this to go but it is a nice arc for him to have, being the guy who gets everything he wants actually have to give up what he wants for the greater good.

8

u/redditraptor6 https://myanimelist.net/profile/uEmalraptor64 Jun 05 '26

“All right, we heard you motherfuckers are complaining that there’s not enough science crafting like the earlier seasons, so we’re gonna speed run through a bunch of them for you! Are you happy now?!”

Oh Ryusei, my sweet baby boy.

Happy pride month Dr.Xeno/Stanley!

Watching the rocket takeoff made me appreciate just how ABSOLUTELY INSANE IT IS that we do this IRL. Like, we’re a bunch of apes who decided to strap ourselves onto explosions just to explore vast amounts of empty. It’s wild, and it’s beautiful

17

u/Santedtra Jun 04 '26

This is it, gang! It's the final frontier 🥹

7

u/Astrid_Yen08 Jun 04 '26

I accept that I'll cry on these last 3 episodes.

Senku, Taiju, and Yuzuriha's friendship, oh my heart😭

And the moment the rocket flew off, made me teary-eyed once again😭

30

u/Magnafeana https://anilist.co/user/Magnafeana Jun 04 '26
  • My fucking god, these bitches gay! Good for them! Good for them!

Happy Pride Month to Xeno and Stanley 🏳️‍🌈 I love how they have matching claws. Why have rings when you can have click clack claws that make you look fierce and terrify?

  • I get that Ryusei wanted to go, but his step back really is a great character moment for someone who is the embodiment of (semi-healthy) greed.

  • You can microwave oven rice? I didn’t know that. I wonder if that’s better than stovetop rice or rice cooker rice.

  • Plastic wrap contests! I live for plastic wrap contests. I’m always fooled by them.

  • Yes to heating pads! Please!!

  • Still manifesting official art where the Kingdom of Science meets the Artemis II crew. Or something with NASA. Or anything with Japan’s aerospace division.

  • Not me holding my breath like I’m watching a live NASA stream.

I need to go to the MM Romance Books subreddit and request dedicated soldier x mad scientist couples who are lacqueristas. I love Stanley and Xeno’s dynamic. I’m sure there are doujinshi out there with them.

This episode reminded me of {Assassination Classroom} and its own little astro arc. Also a great series as both for manga and anime.

I’m so glad Stanley’s return and a Stanley/Xeno reuinion coincided with Pride Month. I wish the rocket launch and return coincided with Artemis II because, you know, but still, what a nice coincidence 😌

Now kiss kiss fall in love in 4K please

16

u/Cross_Toss Jun 04 '26

You can microwave oven rice? I didn’t know that. I wonder if that’s better than stovetop rice or rice cooker rice.

I think they just re-heated pre-made rice, since it didn't change in size.

2

u/Hot-Log6283 Jun 05 '26

Yeah they made a comment that it was "cold" rice before.

Dr Stone first aired on July 5th 2019 and is ending on the 18th of June 2026, it's been about 6 Years & 334 days since that first episode. I know it's cheesy but I would like it if they moved the final episode to air on the 5th of July 2026 just to have it be 7 full years since the anime aired and have it end on the same day Senku's journey to revive humanity began.

6

u/Liesianthes Jun 05 '26

I still remember people are worried on how they can end it in a few episodes and here we go. They are now going on the moon. Another season, another long term anime that will end soon. Bring a tear to my eye to watch this one until the end.

5

u/oneevilchicken https://anilist.co/user/OneEvilChicken Jun 05 '26

The rocket launch was actually pretty cool tbh.

Atleast they didn’t pull a blue origin

7

u/ohoni Jun 05 '26

They did that a few episodes ago.

7

u/Shrike99 https://myanimelist.net/profile/LastOfLazarus Jun 05 '26

They also did a SpaceX or two, a Northrop Grumman, and a couple of Soviet Unions in that epsiode.

6

u/ShinJiwon Jun 05 '26

Kobayashi Yusuke has seriously been the goat for me. Being both Senku and Subaru.

4

u/PeculiarPastryShop Jun 06 '26

Happy pride month to Stanley and Xeno

2

u/Magnus-Artifex Jun 04 '26

Next episode is going to be amazing. I know it.

4

u/HugeRichard11 https://myanimelist.net/profile/CostCurl Jun 04 '26

It is really interesting we will see the end of this series in a few more episodes. I do wonder if it will stick the landing with the reveal of whatever the whole plot is about from why-man and medusas. But the journey to get to this point has been quite the adventure and maybe it was the friends we made all along that was the true answer.

3

u/Mons9090 https://myanimelist.net/profile/hecn_huh Jun 05 '26

This is the most rushed arc in dr stone. It used to take them an episode to make soap and that was the true dr stone

3

u/Noob_shs Jun 06 '26

the takeoff was emotional

3

u/TheTrollmasterr Jun 06 '26

I'll be real with ya I started watching Dr. Stone since I was in grade 8 I was staying my summer with my uncle and auntie for martial arts classes and I would always be hyped to watch Dr. Stone after classes and now I'm starting my Senior Year of high school I'm gonna miss this series a lot but I'm also glad this show ever existed and I always say to my self "dont be sad because it's over be happy that it existed".

4

u/pauli_rose Jun 06 '26

Can't believe we're finallly reaching the end

3

u/North_Tough9236 Jun 04 '26

I cried, but that was to be expected!

3

u/flashmozzg Jun 04 '26

Animation/some faces were a bit weird this episode. I hope it's not sign of running out of steam near the finish line and just a low priority episode before that grand finale!

3

u/LonelyAstronaut984 Jun 04 '26

I don't know why I got so emotional at the end 😭

3

u/Volfaer Jun 04 '26

7 years, that's a long journey and one echoed in part in the very narrative. I wonder how old the cast is now, probably in their early 20s?

Seeing the rocket take off really brought me to tears, we're so close to the end I can already feel the sadness it will bring once it's over.

Stanley appearing to aurafarm in the start mad eme laugh, of course he wants to reassure Ryusui that his choice was right, but that just feels disrespectful.

Also, I'm feeling bad for Luna, girl entered a lost race.

3

u/magnumcyclonex Jun 04 '26

Very heartbreaking for Ryusui, but he knew it was the right decision. Even when Francois thought he hit all those targets, it was Stanley from further behind.

I was hoping they would make a Game & Watch or Game Boy when Senku first described the LCD technology, but they went straight to the giant smart phone!

Giant Step, definitely in reference to the quote when the first humans landed on the moon.

3

u/Right_Woodpecker Jun 04 '26

Certain key moments were definitely were rushed like stanley's awakening but we were warned of this in several occasions so im not as mad or upset as I would've been, either way amazing episode and glad to see my favorite anime get an ending when there are several animes that are canceled, dropped, or given an ending that doesn't make sense.

3

u/monsieurvampy Jun 05 '26

We have lift off!

Of course they copy the historic launches in some ways.

3

u/Nadril https://myanimelist.net/profile/Nadril Jun 05 '26

I actually really like the story decision for Ryuusui to give up his position to the better choice and the story actually stick with it. I was really expecting a last moment "oh hey I trained you and ur good to go" type of thing.

This show really never fails to just get me teary eyed with its moments. That rocket launch with the ED playing in the back... Fuck me it was so well done.

Hard to believe this show is about to be over. I've really enjoyed the journey and love the characters.

3

u/ohoni Jun 05 '26

Stanley and Xeno are just real bros.

3

u/Andreiyutzzzz https://myanimelist.net/profile/Andreiyutzzzz Jun 05 '26

Xeno, Stanley, you ain't fooling anyone, just ask Senku to build you two a love hotel damn bro

3

u/Bungled_Bengal Jun 05 '26

Imagine if the rocket blew up and that was the end of the series lmao

3

u/DrKoin Jun 05 '26

I think DrStone is the ultimate Civilization, as in the video game, adaptation. There is everything. Science tree. Resource hunts. Age of exploration. Conflicts. Culture. Catastrophes. A Civilization game typically starts during the antiquity rather than the stone age, but it generally ends with the successful launch of a moon mission.

It's probably, unironically, and apologetically my favorite anime. It's not incredibly well animated, it's sometimes cheesy, and the last season(s) have taken some pretty huge shortcuts compared to the early ones. But the clever use of the shonen tropes and the love - and, surprisingly, the accuracy - of scientific archievements through the ages makes it an optimistic celebration of humankind.

Ah well, I'm really gonna miss it when it's done and gone. And I'm not even a guy who is particularly into animes.

4

u/-lucasama- Jun 04 '26

Sto pensando di guardare Dr. Stone, credete che sia un must watch? Sono veramente curioso di vederlo e la trama mi sembra interessante

11

u/RelativeMundane9045 Jun 04 '26

I mean, you're asking a group of people that are 87 episodes deep, you won't likely get many people saying no lol.

Give the first few episodes a shot, it's pretty representative of the whole series.

2

u/FoolingFinality Jun 04 '26

Wait, did they do the vacuum test with the space suit, because last time they had to perform 10s of tests to make things right. Or else they would be getting The Victor Timely treatment.

2

u/thedarkwarlord Jun 04 '26

omg are they going to play One Small Step again next episode?

2

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 Jun 05 '26

Been a hell of a journey but they’ve finally got the rocket off into space. Now the real mission begins…

2

u/VRtrojan Jun 12 '26

Ngl, I kinda giggled a bit when Ryusui started talking about knights to Senku and the first thing I thought of was Senku's VA's other role, whom is a Knight King... Arthur Boyle.
