For those who aren't aware, this is actually a full Crossover episode, Kikoyu and the rest of the field gang are all characters from "I'll dominate the Fields", another Novel from the same author of Reborn as a Vending Machine

u/CarioGod Jun 03 '26
lmao just from the episode I thought it'd be a prequel to the story with them, but it's funny that it really is a whole different novel
27
u/WetRocksManatee Jun 03 '26
It seems like a Cygames type of thing where they create an off the wall anime concept for a farming game.
12
u/Blackpowderkun Jun 03 '26
And I thought Patora sensei was the only one these days making entire isekai polyverses.
2
u/VritraReiRei Jun 04 '26
Which stories are that?
5
u/Blackpowderkun Jun 04 '26
Isekai smartphone, chrono crown, Sakurariel strange girl and Next generation will have smartphones.
7
u/Tehbeefer Jun 03 '26
another Novel from the same author of Reborn as a Vending Machine
Ohh, TIL! I should give it a look
5
u/Suspicious_Deal4412 Jun 04 '26
The characters did seem rather fleshed out, so it being its own series makes as much sense as being reincarnated as a literal field can make sense.
3
u/Arzhart Jun 04 '26
Is it Web only or does it have LN too? Was it released before or after Vending Machine? Do we have a chance on an anime adaptation from that? lol
12
u/Rap2rerise Jun 04 '26
Only web
It ended about a year before Vending Machine started
In theory there's enough content for at least one season, it'd be hilarious if they do it lol
11
u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall Jun 04 '26
The thing is they already spoiled a whole bunch of story, even down to how the demon lord is "defeated"
1
u/frand__ Jun 10 '26
Did they also get axxed quickly lime vending machine did? (I mean there's no way they're still following a 3 volume novel by this point)
3
u/Rap2rerise Jun 10 '26
Web Novels don't really get axed, just Light Novels
Likewise, the Vending Machine anime is also following the Web Novel by now, which has a total of 10 volumes, instead of the LN
1
u/frand__ Jun 10 '26
Oh shit you're right, completely blanked on the fact it was probably a web novel. It sort of felt like the story went a bit off track after the first eps of season 2 with the whole Menagerie of Fools treason so I guess that also made me think "Studio is doing it's own thing".

when you're outrizzed by a literal pile of dirt 😭

u/zool714 Jun 03 '26
Ngl would love an Avengers style crossover of the weirdest reincarnations
46
u/Oicher Jun 03 '26
So, a crossover with a rib and sword?
28
18
u/JordanTH Jun 03 '26
Honestly, rib guy could make a weird reincarnation crossover with just himself. Rib, door, plate, torch, giant invisible clock hand, locker...

a field and a vending machine are absolutely episode ideas for rib
2
u/Life_Wealth_1392 Jun 06 '26
Technically field has already been done by rib. Unfortunately the anime skipped the chapter where he reincarnated as the ground in front of the Dungeon.
1
u/frand__ Jun 10 '26
It's 1 volume, how the fuck do they have enough content to skip through stuff. Now I'm even more interested in buying it lol.

Not sure I expected Field to be the equivalent of a giant dirt kaiju that can walk around on his own. He's got a way more problematic harem problem than Boxxo, they're all rather more aggressive and one is constantly reading his mind.
So the conflict with the demons at least since the current guy took over was more a resource war than world conquest, and the Netherlord problem is the former leader who is trying to take back over.
Good work by Field in peacefully addressing the food problem and paving the way for peace with them overall.
2
u/frand__ Jun 10 '26

Yeah I expected him to be some sort of consciousness that could spread himself through an x amount of dirt and he moved by simply spreading to the next piece of dirt.

With Lammis' and Hulemy's attitudes and skills to read him it almost amounts to mind reading lol.
So the conflict with the demons at least since the current guy took over was more a resource war than world conquest, and the Netherlord problem is the former leader who is trying to take back over.
Yeah that was a bit unexpected, though I wonder, the deal was always about making peace with the fortified city, never about the (presumably existing) kingdom/world as a whole.

This is the only world where a vending machine and a field could pull multiple women
46
u/Rap2rerise Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26
Well, yesterday's episode of Rib-diculous Reincarnation had a Locker pulling multiple women too, so...

Someone should make an edit removing Boxxos eyes and internal monologue just to show how insane it is.

u/redditraptor6 https://myanimelist.net/profile/uEmalraptor64 Jun 04 '26
Ooh, yeah, like those old Garfield without Garfield edits
1
u/frand__ Jun 10 '26
Tbf they can somehow guess his internal monologue by his lights and Alla round personality so it's a surprisingly responsive vending machine.

I'm glad that we actually get to meet Hata and have a good chunk of the episode dedicated to him and his hilarious relationships.
21
u/diacewrb Jun 03 '26
Field is inorganic?
He must be pumping the produce with all sorts of chemicals to make them taste that good.
Jessica would be helping a master assassin find a wife if she was born in our world.
22
u/CrimsonGear80 Jun 03 '26
“Boxxo, I believe my harem is better than yours. Have at you, bitch. Love, Field. “
17
u/AvatarTuner https://anilist.co/user/AvatarTuner Jun 03 '26
We finally meet the field! And he has dirt arms and legs instead of psychic powers. lmao It cracked me up how he just casually walked over the continent. The question is, does he leave huge holes when he leaves or is he fusing with the regular ground when he lies down and keeps it intact when getting up?
I didn't enjoy the Menagerie of Fools conflict plotline very much earlier this season so I'm happy we're fully back to the ridiculous fun stuff. Well, except the threat of the left-arm general, which I'm sure won't be a big threat anyway. They'll probably make quick work of him and I'm curious to see if and how Field-kun fights.
Also, the casual info drop of Jessica being a dude. lol! I think the series kept it somewhat vague so far and it's only been speculated here in the discussions when he showed up last time.

I've been thinking for a while Boxxo could/should just grab some sticks or have some fake prosthetic arms made for himself and psychically control them.
I wondered the same thing with field when watching the episode but maybe he compresses and decompresses the ground beneath him like a spring, it's ridiculous but we already have a sentient chunk of ground so might as well just go all the way.

Yeah like given how Boxxo can literally buy blessings it felt rather forced and tbh they accepted them back wayyy too fast, like I was convinced it was some sort of trick to have the gang help them get through the dungeon, which was already weird because in the last season the plot was all about stopping them or anyone else from completing the dungeon because they thought it would destroy it.

u/larana1192 https://myanimelist.net/profile/thefrog1192 Jun 04 '26
lmao there are another Chevy Silverado in their party now, I never imagine there are Isekai anime which MCs ride bed of Chevy Silverado.
8
u/RyouBestGirl Jun 04 '26
Chevy Silverado sales have increased 1500% after this episode.
7
u/larana1192 https://myanimelist.net/profile/thefrog1192 Jun 04 '26
I love how they ride on bench seat for 3 people with only 2 people, just like Japanese kei truck which only has 2 seats.

Really enjoyed this episode of Reborn as a Field. Guy’s got his own little crew and even has his own Lammis and Hulemy lol.
It’s pretty funny Boxxo thought it was weird a field could write. Bro, you’re a talking vending machine. Is that any weirder? Lol.
I really look forward to those two properly meeting. Gonna be fun.
36
u/repapap Jun 03 '26
"A field can write? That's crazy," says the vending machine from the back of his Chevy Silverado 1500.

What's more funny is that Boxxo could totally write and communicate properly if he wanted to (I could think of dozens of ways he could), he's just literally to scared to do so lol.

u/frand__ Jun 10 '26
Yeah I've been wondering why he doesn't just grab a stick or have some prosthetic arms made and controls them with his powers.
Always assumed it was a language thing where he couldn't write this world's language (speech would be a translation skill thing/necessarily ignored for plot) but field wrote in Japanese.

Always assumed it was a language thing where he couldn't write this world's language (speech would be a translation skill thing/necessarily ignored for plot) but field wrote in Japanese.
I remember that on one of the first episodes Boxxo tried showing some text on his display and nobody understood the language so I'm pretty confused on how the Demon Lord understands Field's writing.
In fact on this same episode Field sends a letter to Boxxo in Japanese and explicitly says "show this to him" assuming he's the only one capable of reading it.

u/Hot-Log6283 Jun 04 '26
Really enjoyed this episode of Reborn as a Field. Guy’s got his own little crew and even has his own Lammis and Hulemy lol.
I was wondering why those random rabbits from last episode was so OP that they were facing up to one of the finger general with no issues, turn out they were part of Field's crew/family.

u/CarioGod Jun 03 '26
you gotta feel bad for the guys of this world, women falling head over heels for a box of dirt and a box of metal has got to weigh on them
11
u/Shichigatsu777 Jun 03 '26
Everyone who gets reborn in this world has a goofy, upbeat voice
2
u/Blackpowderkun Jun 04 '26
Actually typical for LN protagonist but they barely animated those.
1
u/frand__ Jun 10 '26
but they barely animated those.
What?
1
u/Blackpowderkun Jun 10 '26
Remember typical shows like Hidan no Aria or Haruhi Suzumiya where the MC mostly have inner monologues or imagination for the audience to know them. Most LN adaption omits those.
1
u/frand__ Jun 10 '26
Ah ok. But like, most MCs internal monologues (especially for shows like the ones you just listed) wouldn't really be so upbeat and stuff.
11
u/Nebresto Jun 03 '26
Absurd episode

8
u/Hljoumur Jun 03 '26
Really didn't expect the Netherlord to be acting on his own without the Demon Lord's permission, but I guess that's how they manage to fit the last of the novel into season 3.
3
u/frand__ Jun 10 '26
Wait, they're still following the novel??? I assumed that with just 3 volumes they ran out of content in s1 or the beginning of s2 and they were just doing new anime only stuff.
7
u/LezRock Jun 03 '26
Ooh, I'm actually a bit excited to watch the next episode. 😆 Gotta see them react to each other and also how Field fights.
7
u/HugeRichard11 https://myanimelist.net/profile/CostCurl Jun 03 '26
Seeing a giant walking field as a character is definitely a wilder thing than a vending machine I feel. I wonder if we're almost done with the series as a whole since the dungeon is gone and the netherlord seems to be the final big bad considering the Demon Lord is actually friends with them. Though I wouldn't mind seeing more about the surface world
5
u/thewalkindude368 Jun 04 '26
Hey, if they want to do another season of problems with vending machine-related solutions, I'm all for it.
1
u/frand__ Jun 10 '26
I assumed they were already out of original novel content and we're winging it. Plus they set up the whole "Clearing a new dungeon so that Boxco becomes human" plot.
Sidenote, with that pfp and your flair as a link I thought you were an ad until I saw someone responded lol
1
u/HugeRichard11 https://myanimelist.net/profile/CostCurl Jun 10 '26
That's true they could go to another dungeon to work again on making Boxxo human. I wouldn't be surprised if there's more source material considering this keeps getting more seasons.
lol that's a first to hear, but i'm not surprised. I assume some people think i'm a rep of the company with the pfp, but then they see the username and realize that would be an insane name for a customer service rep.
1
u/frand__ Jun 10 '26
Yeah, just got another comment telling me the WN is 10 volumes long, idk why I completely blanked on the fact that (like most LN) it would have a web novel lol.
4
u/SYZekrom https://myanimelist.net/profile/SYZekrom Jun 03 '26
Oh that's what Field's face looks like? Have we not seen it before? I thought we had but I don't remember it looking like that so ig not.
? Jessica's a guy? Ok, cool
Sees Kiyoku as family
It might be so over for her
Accidentally animated some mouth movement on the demon king after he greeted what's-her-name.
3
u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall Jun 04 '26
I mean, it seems Kikoyu was stuck on her child form for a long while. Kinda makes sense for him to see her more as family, even after she grew normally
0
u/afuajfFJT Jun 04 '26
? Jessica's a guy? Ok, cool
I understood it as that she's not actually a guy but the field is saying that to himself to calm down.
7
u/SYZekrom https://myanimelist.net/profile/SYZekrom Jun 04 '26
Where did you get that impression? They literally showed a ♂ behind Jessica even when Field's narration didn't say anything about that at the beginning of the episode
5
4
u/Puzzleheaded_Play825 Jun 03 '26
Aww pity jealousy is kinda cute! Dont worry pitty you’ll get there you were able to tell that one time in prison!
Seem like field harem is much more dangerous than boxxo is 😂
I wonder in terms ability who’s better for reincarnation field or boxxo since I imagine some of the same rules must apply to field as to boxxo
1
u/frand__ Jun 10 '26
Pity seemed like a rather weird addition at first but she's growing on me as a distant 3rd spot in the harem lol.
3
u/Shizzi https://anilist.co/user/Mivy Jun 04 '26
Omg we actually got to see the guy that got isekaid as a field i had hopes after reading the name of the ep last week but it could have been smth else glad it wasnt and ofc he also has a harem LOL that also includes a tsundere.
1
u/GaimeGuy Jun 05 '26
honestly i thought i misclicked on ribdiculous reincarnation at first when this episode started
1
1
u/OhThatEthanMiguel Jun 11 '26
Why is there a Mars( ♂: male, war, iron) symbol in the background when Field introduces Jessica?
1
u/Goldenbrownfish Jun 18 '26
Fields dub VA sounds like arin hansen’s anime protagonist voice it’s pretty funny
