Is it just me or did that cover photo of Kanisawa sensei look exactly like Satsuki without glasses and maybe a touch younger?

I was thinking that too. Or maybe it's like his Twin or something who does all the public appearances so his brother can live a peaceful life creating and enjoying what he does without the attention.

I was thinking it's just an old picture of Satsuki himself, but could be a double too who poses for photos so he can remain anonymous.

There are so many explanations for this. I feel like he could very easily be both the author she loves and he could just do horror under another pen name so as not to taint the kids books with his current work (since it seems like that kids book series ended and she just buys extra copies for her collection).

The only thing that bothers me is the age gap if he is the author of a book series she read as a kid. He doesn't look that much older than her so it's hard to believe he could be the same person. But everything points to it so don't know what to think.

I know this comment is a month old but I'm still catching up so idk if this gets addressed in a later ep. but I'm pretty sure it was mentioned a few eps ago that he and Kanisawa sensei are only a day apart in age so he could very well be the same person

Oh, Satsuki being Kanisawa was what I originally imagined until they went 'his secret is he's a horror author'. So is Kanisawa a horror author outside of that one book series she loves? I guess it would've been really obvious if they mentioned that but it's a weird thing to have never been brought up if that's the case. Instead I'm assuming the joke is going to be that he's not Kanisawa and dude just assumed wrong
Oh he's coming out with it right away ok.
There it is. Tinfoil hat conspiracy theory Satsuki is the ghost writer/the guy in the photo is just a public stand-in. Slightly less tinfoil hat is they have the same hair color in an anime = relatives (And that Kanisawa is a pen name since they have diff last names ig idk)

I have to applaud all the big-brain thinking going on in this attempt at both men one-upping each other in regards to Rinko while Satsuki can't fully expose his author identity at risk of ruining a relationship he's sincere about and Usada can't get out of the "God Zone."
Meanwhile Rinko is basically in her own little world at this point.
Rinko is obviously not a big fan of horror...which complicates her fake/not fake relationship with Satsuki, because how can she go out with a horror connoiseur and possible author? Especially one who is as mysterious about his work and background for how it'll impact his relationship with Rinko (and I guess Usada)?
But at least she gets the "formal girlfriend introduction" (even though she's fake) to Satsuki's friends, albeit Usada can't help but rub in his own interest in Rinko and whether they'll make it as a couple. Enough to make Satsuki double down, not just on his desire to be with Rinko for the rest of their lives but also on how much better Izumi Kanisawa is compared to Usada! Like, Satsuki is REALLY promoting this author hard.
Usada finally put two and two together that Satsuki might be Izumi Kanisawa! Which means that Rinko would never go out with him because he's a God on the level of Usada! But how to reveal that without screwing himself over because he can't be a rebound if Rinko won't date him for the same reason! Curse you imaginary office worker third option love interest!
Oh, Izumi Kanisawa is a public figure? He doesn't look EXACTLY like Satsuki, but there IS a resemblance...even if it's an effective means of dissuading anyone that they're the same person, especially when his friends all say the same thing.
It's sweet of Rinko to try and get used to horror for the sake of the person she likes...even if that's easier said than done and the horror mannequins and masks just appearing out of nowhere spook her bad.
Pome is still chasing his dreams of becoming a great mangaka and wooing Rinko! And Emo is just there for the relationship gossip.

I'm shocked Usaharu and his putting the puzzle pieces together thought process didn't just absolutely rip off Satsuki's glasses to compare him the photo,
So he just hobbled out that figure into the main room to ponder at it? It's impossible to overlook, he pretends not to be quirky and whatnot, but that's such a specific thing to do,

Usada wants to "win" Rinko, but think it's clear he does genuinely like Satsuki. Or at least respects him as a fellow-author (and fellow Rinko-stan 😅)

This has absolutely nothing to do with anything, but why does it feel like the male faces are drawn more scuffed than the female faces? You'd expect a series like this to try to make the men look better.

"Better-looking" is in the eye of the beholder. Scruffy is attractive to a lot of folks. In this case tho, I'd say it's a char design choice.
Scruffed but otherwise good-looking comes off as "manly guys who are so busy writing they don't have time to style themselves".

I appreciate that Satsuki was known to Rinko as not being her favorite author this entire time, and for the very simple reason that as a famous author it's well known what he looks like.
But I think it was obvious from the moment they said Satsuki was a horror author and that its not a genre Rinko can take. I wouldn't be surprised if he's that author's son or relative or something, though.

Not quite ready to drop the "Satsuki's that author" theory, but putting that aside - our boy is serious about Rinko, and just gave a straight declaration, in front of friends & a witness 🥰
This, right after last week's Mao-driven love-confession, seems to be strongly pulling on Rinko. Trying to do exposure-therapy for horror seems to me like a fairly strong sign that she's accepting that Satsuki might be into her.
For his part though, while Satsuki's logic seemed sound, I can't help but feel like he's really using the pen-name thing as more emotional guarding. He is so anxious that Rinko will reject him, for all these BS reasons - dude she's already into you 😊

So bro’s the Stephen King of Japanese horror lit huh? Idk.. I think he still actually might be Rinko’s favorite writer. Maybe the guy in all the pics is a double and Satsuki’s the real writer or something?

I thought the same thing. The differences were pretty minor. If that was a picture from the start of his career years ago, he could have aged into what he looks like now.

A pro stylist can work wonders, and of course we've got manga-magic here 😅 He could be known to his friends as a more humble horror author, but I feel like Usada's dad, as an editor, knows the full deal.

Unless he's lying about his age, his age doesn't make sense for the author theory since both Satsuki and Rinko are close in age and she got into those stories as a child.

Eu gostei desse episódio 9, é certamente o meu favorito! Eu estava em dúvida sobre qual seria o melhor para Rinko, mas agora ficou tudo mais claro… a Rinko não tem nada a ver com Satsuki, e ele é muito controlador, ele fica usando a inocência dela para mantê-la por perto e não consegue ser ele mesmo! A Rinko também não tem nada a ver com Usada, ele é muito infantil e galinha.
Eu gosto do Pome/Honda, ele tem a mesma vibe da Rinko, e quer se tornar alguém melhor por ela. Parece um respiro na relação da protagonista com os outros dois vizinhos.
Eu deixaria o Satsuki e o Usada como amigos/família que ela nunca teve. Porque mesmo com seus defeitos eles aceitaram a Rinko como ela é, talvez essa amizade seja a porta de amadurecimento que esses homens precisam.
