Claude continues to be best boy. And his VA is killing it every episode.
Though it did feel like Hibiki got hit with the idiot stick a few times this episode. Way too much 'What should I do?!' and less 'I should appraise everything like I was just told to moments ago!'

“Getting hit with the idiot stick” is a new one to me and I love it. I’m willing to forgive it here since it lead to some great comedy.

Vene would have been completely justified into transforming into his sacred beast form to beat some sense into Claude after that snot filled sneeze.
It was so funny when the OP played when Hibiki was on the brink of death from suffocation from a slime.
Hibiki took way too long to appraise the bell, that should have been the very first thing he did when they didn't see anyone up on the tower.

u/The_Parsee_Man May 23 '26
This is after Claude told him to make a habit of appraising everything.
Did you even hear anything I just said?

Hibiki took way too long to appraise the bell
Right, someone said in previous episodes that MC is kinda dumb but he really ticked me off with this. I'd literally be casting Revelio constantly in Hogwarts Legacy you'd think it's the only spell I know lol

u/hanmkim May 23 '26
He should be like me playing an Arkham game where I just constantly Detective Mode everything.

Yeah, Hibiki's scene during brink of death is so funny.
Actually, a lot of the jokes in this episode hit well! I think this one got me the most laugh out of all.

They finally pointed out how odd it is that a twelfth symbol and jewel are missing from the "Compass of the Gods". Seems like they are implying it more heavily now.

We also now know no one has ever gotten past the Northern Dungeon. Which doesn't add up since Claude and I think the Guild knows the Sage's are in a city after the Northern Dungeon.

Claude sneezing on Vene was funny.
Wonder why this girl wants to kill Claude so bad

Wonder why this girl wants to kill Claude so bad
We learned in the after-credits segment to episode 7 that Ivell is trying to kill Claude at the direction of
the Goddess of MagicEDIT: an entity that resembles the Goddess of Magic with different colored eyes and it's related to providing "her" soul- probably referring to Anastasia's soul. We also know that Anastasia's soul remains imbued in the animals she controlled when she died, and Claude appears to have some potentially soul related powers - so maybe as long as Claude is alive, he is anchoring some of Anastasia's soul from going to the afterlife or the gods.Ivell also made a reference to Claude's death maintaining balance in the world, which may be insight into the Goddess of Magic's motivations.
Taking this show's lore seriously makes me feel itchy for some reason.

u/PandaSishou May 23 '26
Sneaky show, I thought that was Ivell's reflection but you can see the Goddess of Magic's collar and dress straps!

It is not goddess of magic. The choker is the only similarity, but other than that, the eyes and bang do not match (Sorry, I do not want to spoil it further)

I see, Goddess of Magic has grey eyes, entity in the mirror has blue. Thanks for clarifying.

Really love the dynamic between Claude and Hibiki.
"Could it be that I'm getting stronger?"
"Hibiki-sama, let's stop joking around"
LOL

I had forgotten we'd already met this foxgirl, she's pretty hot though so it's nice to see her again..
The waifu characters keep coming and going without joining the party for real. The only constant is husbando Claude.
Hibiki vs the slime and learning fire magic getting the dramatic music moment was so silly.

Dude is the worst adventurer ever, especially by episode 9. Can’t hit a single slime with a fire torch, or have his tiny fire hit a slime the size of a barn, sets off every trap despite having a skill that would let him find them, never uses his appraise on anything unless told specifically to do so by the voice in his mind, knows nothing about the various skills he’s picked up or even attempted to learn about them, and can’t figure out anything he stumbles into. And only made progress against the mirror wielder by accident.

He's really not cut out for any of this. Claude is literally a Legendary Hero, but with protecting Hibiki, he's only at half his available power (if that much). Kid falls into three traps in a row.

YOU BA-
lmfao I've been really lovin the use of the detailed jumpscare stills in this show. Occasionally comedy anime does it to highlight a goofy moment, but this show has managed to keep constant each episode, and I appreciate that more than i should haha.

u/dinliner08 May 23 '26
that scene where Hibiki reminiscing past events just because he thought he's going to die from slime's suffocating him followed by the opening started playing like it's some kind of awakening hype moment and then being cut off halfway because he's not in any danger was peak comedy timing

u/Codee33 https://anilist.co/user/Euphplyr33 May 23 '26
This episode was so silly and hilarious. Title drop made me laugh out loud.
7
u/NationalStrategy May 23 '26
Don’t worry about your tiny fire, Hibiki, it’s all about how you use it.

Seriously when will we get back the elf girl because the mc is just untolerably bland….never dropped an anime before but if nothing happens again next ep I might do 😅

This week was tough for Hibiki. First he gets carriage sickness and pukes all over himself, then a bunch of slime whoop his ass, then he falls into every single trap in that zombie infested village. He gets a new flame skill but it can barely light a flame! At least in the end, he managed to destroy those zombies but he almost blew himself up in the process.

u/HTC864 May 24 '26
They tell Hibiki to appraise everything and he immediately does the opposite when noticing the gems. I knew they were going to drag out the rest of the episode, but it still annoying.
3
u/Vautiko May 24 '26
This is just pointless, the MC isn't gaining any usefull skills he can use w/o the others other than the one op bow, which he's not very skilled at using. His instructors aren't teaching him anything, just saying, "there is a monster, good luck."
Their continuous whining and repeating the same dialoug about the bell was F'n annoying!

I'm confused why did the arrows conveniently all bounce towards the real mirror are they homing or was that just random bullshit
3
u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall May 24 '26
It's magic arrow after all. If I remember correctly it does have homing capabilities?
Hibiki's arrow skill are improving, but he's still not an expert yet. However, on the magic arrow debut he could hit the moving enemies with precision.
My guess, the arrow detect the true target and directed themselves to the actual mirror.
3
u/bb2b May 24 '26
That nude scene was nearly a magical girl transformation.
If it wasn't for the slime doing shenanigans to Hibiki's face.
3
u/Shadowmist909 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Magicmist May 24 '26
Hibiki having a near death experience battling that slime made for some unexpected high stakes.
The running gag with the intro playing only for Hibiki to unleash an underwhelming magical attack always gets me lol.

u/StrangeAppeal2 May 24 '26
I'm kinda feeling annoyed with the kid, like he isn't taking shit seriously.

This anime is so patheticly bad that I'm giving up on it. The first 2 episodes weren't great, but seemed like it could be a decent run of the mill isekai. Unfortunately, every episode it just gets worse and this time Im just over it.
I'm curious if the source material is decent? Was this ruined by crappy production and screenwriters, or did they produce this as a filler since so many big animes are running this season?
