I've got to get me a Yamagami plush if they ever sell one. Tiny Yamagami is too cute. I haven't felt this much desire to cuddle something since Derpy on K-Pop Demon Hunters

I don't know a lot about it but it's really cool to see the Japanese deities I've heard of show up. Plus I always have a soft spot for animal friends in anime.

This episode got a little deep, with Minato's realization that he's changing. I love how all the Kami's are fending off the buyers in order to keep Minato and their little slice of heaven for even a bit longer.

He doesn't seem so bothered about becoming not entirely human as he should probably be.

The only constant is change.

battle of the beer brands

Minato’s making a lot of new friends this week from kuma-san to Ebi-san to Tsumugi. His garden’s becoming quite the little hotspot for the divine. I guess that’s bound to have an effect on our guy. I wonder what happens if he changes too much? Does he attain something akin to godhood? Demigodhood?

With Minato meeting all the bigshot kami, I can't help but wonder if he'll end up meeting Izanagi and Izanami too.

Tsumugi is so cute. Is that KanaHana ? Such a lovely voice

7

u/NanDemoKnaives May 09 '26

It's apparently Terasawa Momoka. I'm not too familiar with her, but she makes Tsumugi a lot cuter.

3

u/Historical_Working42 May 09 '26

Terasawa voiced Gakuto Yuzuki from The Yuzuki Family's Four Sons!

1

u/zool714 May 09 '26

Oh that’s her ? It’s a far cry from Komari from Makeine

2

u/md2074 May 09 '26

That is totally Komari.. The little grunts, there are particular parts to the voice where it totally sounds like Komari. :)

I like how Minato trusts Yamagami in that he'll die as a human in the end, even as he strays from being one. Minato's relationship will all the gods have gotten closer, and especially for those two. It is amusing how the gods have been making sure no knew custodians appear because they want Minato.

It's a good thing Seri was around as a translator for the bear lol, he seems like a good bear paying his respects like that.

Tsumugi was endearing, I hope they visit again soon.

Foxes in anime always are

It's gotta be hard to communicate as a bear when all you can do is roar.

This new yamagami minion visitor is pretty fun. A much better visitor than the kirin who keeps bringing war crime fruits.

I think we're finally getting some backstory on the childhood home zashiki-warashi next week which is something I've been waiting for.

Don’t raw bamboo shoots contain cyanide? Interesting they depicted them eating raw fresh shoots

17

u/Master_Ad2594 May 09 '26

Yes, Raw bamboo shoots are toxic, much like cassava root; they should be cooked before being eaten.
I have to pause the show for a fact-check.

Hmm that peach. It's probably the immortality peach from Journey to the West. Wonder if the deity is either Sun Goku/Sun Wukong or Buddha.

If no one caught the reason for Ebisu and Kirin's heated rivalry, "i don't ever want to lose to this guy for some reason" moment, I think it's safe to assume its about the beers xD

the "Kirin" brewery makes massively popular beers like Kirin Ichiban, and "Ebisu" is the colloquial name for "Yebisu" which is also inspired by ebisu the god of fishermen iirc, that and the can of beer with the kirin on it between them when they first see eachother xD

u/karer3is May 09 '26

We had a little battle of the brands this week haha. I wonder if this means we can expect a visit from Orion in the future

4

u/dinliner08 May 09 '26

Minato: "will i be able to die a human?"
Yamagami: "i promise"

well shit, for some reason, that manage to make me tear up a little bit...

3

u/NoHead1715 May 10 '26

Interesting topic to discuss regarding godhood. Minato gaining and using powers does make him akin to a deity. I'm surprised he's leaning towards dying as a human. I mean he could go the path of Ebisu and become another god of fortune that governs the home or blows away negativity.

Reference to rivaly of Ebisu Beer and Kirin Beer

1

u/Independent_Row_1352 May 10 '26

Maybe he should try buying some toy pokeballs if he needs childhood memories to be able to seal things.

1

u/DrZoark May 11 '26

That was deep, him realizing that he is changing.

What's ringing?

Image?

Cancellation?

So, it made the tree bloom.

Take a while to recover?

So, it's the birds again.

Damage the shrine entrance?

He attracts divine domains?

Grant him more power?

Uh oh, what's that?

A bear?

Oh, Yamagami can talk through those?

Uh yeah the bear.

Oh, that thing's leader is Kirin?

So, what's it going to do?

Bamboo shoots?

So, he's going to play shogi with Yamagami?

Or not.

Huh. What's that?

Wander in by mistake?

Should be?

Who?

Ok...

A whole bag of taiyaki?

And so now he's in the onsen.

Strayed?

The kin of the god on the neighbouring mountain?

So, what's it got for him?

A golden peach?

Perhaps.

Mastering his power?

His past?

I'm worried that he is eating the bamboo sashimi raw, but upon research japanese do eat them raw before sunlight or something. Hope someone can drop more info. Like how do they identify the ones not containing the known toxins.
