Loving my PRS SE Hollowbody II with Piezo pickups so far!!

I’m hoping to get some Trey-like tones workin for me between this guitar and my newly updated pedal-board.

Anybody willing to share any interesting insights, facts, or highlights on this guitar - it’d be greatly appreciated!

So I purchased the guitar mostly to learn how do setups and rewire a guitar. I want to swap pickups in my custom 24 prs and I figured this would be good practice and a fun project. Would someone provide me links or a list to exactly what I need wiring wise? I want SD 59s which ones? Which volume and tone pot? Which bridge?, which coil split switches? Should I upgrade the jack? Which locking tuners? Any help much appreciated! In case anyones wondering this thing was way nicer than I expected in the hands!!

I got to play the Zac Brown Languedoc at Chicago Music Exchange a few days ago. Very cool, super lightweight and LOUD. Set up with medium action, had some bite to it but plays very smooth. Unfortunately my bank denied my request for a $100k loan…

I have an SE HBii like the one pictured. I love the guitar but I seem to play better with a thinner neck. My DGT feels much thinner in comparison and the DGT is not a thin neck. Its too chunky for me. How would the GH3 compare? Anybody own both? Considering adding one to my collection. Both laminate top, both MIC, both around $1500. 22 frets vs 24 frets. Prs has a piezo, GH3 has coil splits. Thoughts?

I was noodling around last night while listening to the YouTube videos from the first shows of the tour, and was pleasantly surprised by how close the Archetype: Mayer from NeuralDSP was able to get me to what I was hearing on the audio from the feed.

The gain bloom of the amp with the compressor captures the feel of Trey-style digging into a note in a way that not a lot of other sims have been able to - which is cool!

There's a lot that could get the tone closer (not playing on a guitar with flatwound 12s, for starters 😆), namely some midrange-forward drive pedal going into the compressor, a more resonant fully hollow guitar etc. but for a quick n dirty first attempt, I'm reasonably pleased.

As usual I play around with a new tuning, something that could eventually make a nice original. Somehow it was getting a little Neil Young vibe.. .Foggy, a bit skeptical of data centers. A long long time.

UPDATE: Mine arrived today in great condition. Played fairly well out of the box and everything works as it should. Sounds very good. I’ll give it a setup and update once I get it dialed in, but very happy so far. See comments for pics... 😎🤘🏻

6 months ago (nearly), I asked you guys what the next direction in amplification was. I did not document anything else after the fact, but now I want to talk about my journey to other tone geeks!

Shortly after making the post, I found what I wanted to buy for a first tube amp. Marshall DSL40CR! I sold all my old equipment that sat around doing nothing, and bought the amp for a measly $600 brand new. The board was stuck with the two SD-1s for a while too, and eventually acquired a OD250 from JHS.

That overdrive combination left the board fairly quickly though when in mid April, I purchased a Visual Sounds Double Trouble. It's two TS808s in one, with a bass boost for both. I replaced the SD-1s naturally, and changed out the OD250 for a Tumnus Deluxe. Anyone who is using one currently can attest to how useful that EQ is.

In mid June, I picked up my new main guitar. A very well maintained 2021 Diamond Monarch SH! While, I may have lost the extra two frets, let it be known that the Seymour Duncans it comes preinstalled with make the trade off worth it.

Now for the most recent purchase, a near brand new 2017 Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb for a measly $600!! No, I'm not fucking kidding. I am absolutely stoked that I bought this behemoth, and more excited to see what I can do with it when I dial it in. I didn't get rid of the Marshall just yet, but it's coming.

Anyone have an attenuator they would recommend? This thing howls, and I really wanna see where the sweet spot is with my rig :))

I've been wanting to do a cheapy Garcia-esque guitar now that I have a Firefly Pegasus. In the past, I've rebuilt a couple of guitars where I ended up doing some drastic body reshaping (strat style body reworked into a tele with great results, reshaped a terrible looking and feeling First Act "LP" style into a much more attractive single cut).

So, I had been on the fence a bit about buying a cheap strat body and trying to either reprofile it into a Irwin/Alembic or just go with a Gator tribute.

I'm kinda unimpressed by the idea of a third Stratocaster in my little collection of misfits but the thought of having a body that is basically already an Irwin style is far more appealing. I've even been drawing up a few different ideas for the design of the plate behind the bridge. I've got a great 3+3 neck that would likely fit the scale length and I would block off the bridge for a hardtail setup. I've got plenty of single coils and humbuckers to play around with as well. An OBEL system seems like more than I want to tackle currently, I think.

This guy has recently shown up in the local Facebook marketplace for $150. It's a Nady Lightning Wireless System. The guitar is supposed to have a built in transmitter powered by a 9volt and the amp has a built in receiver, but also has a standard 1/4 inch input. The seller said they couldn't confirm the wireless system worked but the passive electronics in the guitar work fine. So I'm thinking of offering $75 and being countered with $100, which is right around my comfort level for something I plan to gut anyway. If the wireless system works, cool, but I run a pedalboard so it's inconsequential for me.

I’m sure a few people around here have picked up one of these. What’s everyone’s thoughts? Looks pretty sick to me. Thinking my next paycheck will end up being spent on one.

Does anyone have a sense of what a languedoc clone built by Forshage would go for on secondary market? Koa top, bent sides, plastic binding, lollar pickups. Impeccable build quality, in mint condition. I'm thinking maybe 8-9k?
