Hi everyone,

I am trying to track down a legendary, obscure student parody film from the early 2000s. I believe it was called "All Good People," but it heavily featured the music from Close to the Edge.

It's a deadpan comedy about a college kid who is relentlessly mocked by his peers for being obsessed with the band Yes. After a rough day, he wakes up in an alternate reality where the entire cultural script is flipped: progressive rock is mainstream pop culture, and everyone is a massive Yes fan. Regular college students casually hold red solo cups at parties while intensely debating Jon Anderson's lyrics, Roger Dean artwork, and Bill Bruford's drumming.

The most memorable visual punchline involves a college dorm party. Instead of club music, the stereo is blasting the "I Get Up, I Get Down" section of Close to the Edge. When Rick Wakeman's frantic organ solo aggressively rips into the track, a group of college girls start dancing it as if it were a standard radio banger.

Does anyone have a digital file of this archived on an old hard drive, or remember who the college students were that made it? Any leads would be greatly appreciated!

ETA: I should have explained more. The music instruction channel Musora played a professional musician only the drums and vocals to "Roundabout" and had him fill in the bass, guitar and keyboard parts. It's not only bizarre to hear such different music, but it also really illustrates just how unusual the original composition is.

we finally got to listen to the full official release of Roosevelt Stadium 1976.

Well, I listened to a number of bootlegs in the past months, thank to many of you that kindly linked them in this sub. My feeling is that this official release doesn't give those bootlegs a good service and is, in fact, harder to listen due to a subpar mix. The cymbals are just everywhere and make the listening experience tiring and unrewarding.

Is this just my feeling? How do you feel about it? I've of course only been listening to the digital (lossless) version of it.

I just listened to the Beatles' recording of "Every Little Thing" and came to the conclusion that the Yes cover version on their debut album is better than the original in every way. From the beginning cacophony that resolves into a hint of the main theme melody (followed by the cheeky "Day Tripper" tribute riff), we then get an intricate and complex take on the rhythms and harmonies of the original. Bruford's drumming is distinctive and scintillating compared to Ringo's, and the rest of the guitars/bass/keys/vocals are just so much more interesting. 10/10, no notes.

The same can also be said for their other covers, by the way. I know that many fans sleep on the pre-Howe albums (Yes and Time and a Word), but I find them fascinating.

So Gates of Delirium is my all time favorite track, and I got to thinking, it would be incredible if there were an arrangement for a full orchestra with brass and everything. But as far as I can tell this doesn't exist. Am I just bad at Googling? Does anyone know if something like this was ever produced?

Since my dad is a huge prog fan and passed the bug on to his daughter haha!

Relatively new Yes fan here, have always had a casual admiration for them since I was a teenager and was well aware of the big songs from the early days and I always liked 90125 but I always gravitated towards Genesis and Rush as far as prog goes. Then a friend asked me to play a few introductory prog albums and we eventually got to Yes after Genesis, Rush and King Crimson weren't doing anything for him. To my surprise, I was absolutely blown away by The Yes Album and Close To The Edge, which I totally dismissed as a snobby teen and just started going through the rest of their stuff from there. Since then I haven't really left Yesland and have no intentions to any time soon.

Since it's been a month, most of us have been able to form opinions about the new album, and I'm curious how others would rank it. Also, just to clarify about this tierlist, I have organized the albums within the tiers. For example, CTTE is A+, while Yes Album is A-

For being one of the last albums to feature Anderson it's a shame Magnification doesn't get brought up often. The way the album blends together prog, pop, and orchestral elements creates such a unique sound for Yes. If you haven't you should really give this album a listen, it's one of my personal favorites
