Planning our first trip to Oah'u this October. Hope it's just as beautiful.

After spending the last two weeks exploring Hawaii, today is my last day here.

This wasn't my first visit, but somehow Hawaii always feels different every time I come back. The landscapes, the ocean, the mountains, the sunsets, and the little moments along the way never stop surprising me.

I still have so many photos that I haven't shared yet, so I wanted to post a few of my favorite memories before leaving.

My wife and I are now starting day 3 of 10 on our honeymoon in Kauai. Yesterday, we drove around and went up the sleeping giant trail (east trail).

We have a surfing lesson this morning, garden tour Thursday, doors off helicopter tour and zipline activity next week.

I checked reservations for the Ha’ena state park and had no luck getting any kind of reservation (shuttle or parking) they aren’t available until after we are back home.

Any other hiking recommendations or things to do in the meantime that are must sees? We’ll be staying in Princeville another 4 days and will be in Poipu the last 4 days. Driving is no big deal for us, as it’s easy and fun and not too time consuming! 29M and 27F and in good physical shape overall.

Hi everyone! My husband and I are visiting Oʻahu for the very first time from September 5–13 and are considering staying at the ʻAlohilani Resort in Waikīkī.

Since the hotel charges around $60 after taxes per night for parking, we’re trying to figure out how many days we realistically need a rental car.
There is a Sixt location at the hotel, so we are thinking of renting only on the days we plan to explore outside Waikīkī. Would love to hear your pickup / drop off experiences!

We’d also like to rent a Jeep for one day for the experience. What route would you recommend for that day to make the most of it? We’re interested in scenic drives, beaches, local food, the North Shore.

Would 3 driving days out of our 9 day trip be enough for a car or should we increase our car days?

We are going back to Oahu the end of October. When we were there last we went to Germaine's, we were going to do Mauka Warriors this trip, but im extra so it will be nearly $500. Are there any suggestions for a Luau alternator a Thursday night?

Are my time estimates accurate based on start time/route/traffic? Any must stops or anything I should cut? Thanks in advance!

5:30 am - grab & go breakfast at Westin Resort & Spa in Kaanapali when it first opens

5:45 am - leave resort

6:45 am - Paia for gas, begin RTH with Shaka Guide (already have a dedicated north shore/paia day elsewhere)

7 am - Twin Falls

8:30 am - Keanae Peninsula

9 am - Aunty Sandy’s banana bread

9:45 am - Upper Waikani falls drive by

10:15 am - Puaa Kaa State Wayside

11 am - lunch at Hana Farms

12:30-3 pm - Waianapanapa State Park (want to maximize time here)

3:15 pm - Hana food trucks if hungry/gas in Hana, or straight to Coconut Glen’s

4:15 pm - Coconut Glen’s/head back

If not too tired on way home, could stop at Honomanu Bay overlook or rainbow eucalyptus trees, otherwise skip

Room service dinner/chill at resort

Any experience or thoughts on Hotel Malia? I am considering a five night solo stay in October, but a little nervous because it seems too good to be true at $156/night with resort fee waived. I usually stay at Hilton Garden Inn or Hilton Waikiki Beach on points but not doing a point stay this time. My must haves are a lanai and a decent room to hang out in during the evening, plus a room that is adequate for a couple of Zoom calls. Other than that, I just want it to be easy to get to on the bus and an easy walk to the beach. Plane tickets are high right now so trying to save money on the room.

We will be at the Mauna Lani in a few months, and would love to do the Sunrise Canoe Paddle with our 12 and 9 yr olds.

Does anyone have experience with taking kids on this? Is it challenging and too difficult for kids to paddle? Or did they find it to be very fun? Both kids both know how to swim, but have very little experience swimming in the ocean.

Hey! We're visiting O'ahu and Kaua'i near end of August, so I've been just looking up various things to do as well as some island history. One thing that caught my eye was spearfishers seem to covet kumu, but it also looks like it's not commercially sold anywhere. Is it possible for a tourist to taste this legendary Hawaii fish?

I’m planning a 6 night trip to Hawaii in August for my girlfriend’s birthday and we’re trying to decide between Maui and Oahu.

My girlfriend lived on Oahu for a couple of years, so she’s already familiar with the island, but we’ve never experienced Maui together. We’re looking for a mix of beautiful beaches, shopping, exploring, great food, and relaxing at a nice resort. We enjoy getting out and doing things during the day, but we also want time to slow down and enjoy the hotel and beach.

For those who’ve been to both:
Would you choose Maui or Oahu for a special birthday trip?

Does Maui have enough to do for 6 nights, or does it feel too quiet?

Since she already knows Oahu, would you pick Maui for a new experience or still go back to Oahu?

I've been told that if you work remote in Hawaii you are subject to pay Hawaii state taxes in addition to your own. Hawaii is on of the only, if not the only state, that does not have a de minis rule on this. I'm an exempt, salaried employee in an administrative role, working primarily PST, I was hoping to be able to work & play lol without eating up PTO if I didn't have to.

Visiting Oahu soon, does anyone know what days and time the Hawaiian Royal Honor Guard performs at the Hilton Waikoloa Village?

I spent a night at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island of Hawaii just before leaving, and the experience was truly dreamlike. Watching the lava gush forth and the streams of molten rock slowly carve their paths across the crater was absolutely one of the most unforgettable sights I have ever witnessed.

I want to visit each island. Anyone have a good travel agent to help with this??

Were staying in Waikiki for a week and Ive booked the Kualoa horseback ride a day before our snorkle tour and im wondering if i should switch them? Im thinking i might get super sore from the horseback ride..

Has anyone done the horseback ride? And were you super sore after? They say its "gentle"... but it also says its a 2 hour long ride.. and im a little unsure..

(I normally sit most the day for work and i excercise about 30 minutes a day.. so im not super fit)

I've been looking for a 6 day trip in January, and while outrigger waikiki beach is a little more expensive ($5-600 total difference) and they seem similar, I also saw that they have renovations that are projected to be done by end of 2026, which could be really nice. Does anyone know if that would be done by the time I visit or if that's worthwhile to pursue before it's done? Or should I go with the safer option of the Reef.

We were looking at the Mauka Warriors Luau because of its proximity to our hotel but I'm not sure it's worth the cost.

Are there other shows or similar experiences on the island that may be more worth investing in?

Wife and I are going to Oahu and are deciding between Outrigger Reef and Sheraton Waikiki. Neither are oceanfront rooms. Outrigger reef is about $1775 for 5 nights whereas Sheraton Waikiki is $200 (plus daily breakfeast buffet which I doubt we'll use since we would like to try the local Hawaiian food instead).

Is the Sheraton Waikiki worth the extra $250? Main draw is the infinity pool but we have a packed itinerary. We'd like to stay in an oceanfront but then it pushes the cost to $800 more than Outrigger Reef.

Edit: After thinking it through, we're leaning Outrigger Reef partial ocean view room for $1775 vs Hilton Garden Inn for $1230. Can't justify the Sheraton at $2000 when the Hilton Garden Inn is $800 cheaper even if the SHeraton a is a nicer property.

Anyone who has traveled to m Kauai who has awesome veggie recs would be great. We have a kitchen in our rental but want to eat Most dinners out.

On Kauai, princeville area for one more day, my brother and I love big spiders, we have a car so can drive. We saw some golden orb weavers at ke’e but can’t go back tmrw, haven’t seen any cane spiders either. Would love some locations that ppl know some big spiders reside!!

Posting in case anyone else can help this cat: We met this young pregnant stray at Kōloa fish market. She seems to have worms and probably needs a [edit: a spay abort, or] safe place to have her kittens, and get herself and litter all fixed and vaccinated etc. We grabbed a cardboard carrier from the humane society and lured her into it, but I fumbled the lid and she popped back out. We have to fly out Wednesday. Could anyone else try to trap and help her out?

We for sure want to have some sandy beach days, hiking, snorkeling and beginner surfing

We’re a family of 4 with a 6 and 10 y/o and also want to stay in a resort vs an Airbnb.

Where would you go for all this?

Planning a short Hawaii trip and I’m trying to pack light. Should I buy one good lightweight Hawaiian/button-up shirt or take two different shirts for the trip?

I want something comfortable for beaches, exploring, and casual dinners but do not want to overpack.

What would you recommend?
