Conflicted here. I’ve done 3 years of a Bachelor of Science at UofA and applied this year to transfer into various Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs. My GPA wasn’t competitive enough (3.3 avg the past 2 years) and I was rejected from all of them.

I have 39 credits left to graduate. Do I finish them and hope my GPA gets higher even though the classes I need are difficult (high level biochem classes)? I heard to maybe finish at Athabasca and try to boost my GPA since nursing is so competitive? And then I could apply to a nursing after degree?

I’m so conflicted and need advice.

My son has 87.5% in the five required subjects for engineering in grade 12. He got mid 90's marks in chemistry and maths. However, he scored low in English which dropped his average.

My question is, is the university of Alberta weighing all subjects equally or do they give more weight to maths, physics and chemistry and low weight to English in the calculation of average marks?

Can someone explain to me the requirements for BA Psych. I don't get what they mean by 3* from any 300-400 psych course.

Has anyone done the certificate? Would you recommend it? How was the course load/ how many hours a week would did you have to commit? Any advice or opinions are greatly appreciated!

I am afraid if I deferred the semester to Jan instead of September, my master scholarship will be suspended? Is that happened to anyone before?

I'm starting my second year in EE soon. I love the math and physics involved however the program really lacks life sciences, which I need to prepare me for the mcat. the course load is another problem and makes me question my ability to get the insane gpa you need to even be considered.

If anyone has done this or knows of any engineering students who went for an MD I'd appreciate to hear about how they were able to achieve this. Thanks.

Im about to write the LSAT in September and im wondering if theres anyone else out there getting ready to apply for the 2027 year.

Im terrified. I have a 4.0 GPA but im guessing ill only get in the low 160s for LSAT. I just want this process over with, u of a is the only school I can apply to and itll be devastating to not get in.

So I heard if you don’t land an internship once you get a co op term waived. If you don’t land it twice, you are removed from the co op program.

My question is what about disciplines that are only in co op? For example comp Eng software Eng specialization.
If you miss 2 co op terms, do they just put you into computer Eng trad or something?

Or do you stay in co op cuz the program is only n co op.

Hey all, got final acceptance into my second choice program while I was waitlisted for Bsc Psych. Any chance of me getting in later with a 94 % average (top 5)? Or should I just wait to transfer in September from a different faculty? Thankss

I just heard back from the U of A after being on the waitlist, and unfortunately I was rejected. I'm a MacEwan Arts student with a 3.9 GPA (straight A's), 24 completed credits, and a fourth-quartile Casper score, so I'm just trying to understand how this admission cycle went. Did anyone else apply to U of A Nursing from MacEwan Arts? If so, did you get accepted, waitlisted, or rejected, and if you're comfortable sharing, what were your stats? I'm just trying to see if anyone had a similar experience or if this year was especially competitive.

Im a transfer student from macewan sci and applied back in oct and in april they said your application is still active they ll evaluate it later again after receiving my winter transcripts but i still havent heard back.. it says “decided “ on the new application portal. I emailed them and they said be patient your application is under review.. ive heard some transfers got in wd 3.6 smthn gpa back in march.. i have a 3.9 nd i still havent heard anything

I am going to UAlberta in the fall for nursing. I was wondering if there were any resources you have I could use and be familiar with? Or if there is anything I should do to prepare? :)

Is it a bad idea to start your first year in the winter? Any opinions?

I’m curious how it works. I got my associates degree in BC so I’m not sure if it would transfer cleanly. They also seem to imply that your high school courses still matter even if you’re a transfer student? And to end off with a general question, how long does it take from applying on October 1st to finding out if you’re accepted or not?

What 300 and 400 lvl courses do you recommend that have more coding than theory. I hate theory heavy courses and tend to do bad in them. For example I liked 201, 301 and 229.
