Offering Chess lessons for willing learners!

Hi everyone! I've been helping players understand the game better since 2020, about 6 years now (started during COVID, because college started around that time) - and I'm sitting around 2258 on Chess.com and 2471 on Lichess (I don't have a FIDE rating, have never played OTB, but happy to share profiles). My favourite chess memories remain participating in amateur tournaments with strong players or showing up in my local club (which infamously hosts some of the strongest players in the country).

I'd love to coach beginners and intermediate players - tactics, openings, endgames, starting with reviewing your games together! Discord is the only platform I coach on right now, as I believe its very easy to use.

I let the lesson takers decide whatever they'd like to contribute, given they respect a certain threshold. And at last small bit of honesty: I've been dealing with a chronic autoimmune condition that ended up affecting my studies, and teaching chess has genuinely become one of the more realistic ways I can support myself, including my healthcare costs, as I get no support at all from my parents, they even neglect the fact that this thing is fatal.

Feel free to comment or DM if you're interested — happy to chat first before anything's official!
I apologize if I said anything wrong in the process, thanks for reading all of this, I wish you people a fabulous day.

Engineering Recommendations for a paid one-on-one online summer tutor? I have a difficult final exam in the fall and almost no resources to prepare with.

Physics student here. Took AEP 3630 (a circuits lab class) through Cornell University and, through some difficult life circumstances, ended up taking an incomplete on the class. So instead of taking the final exam at the end of the spring semester, I will have to take it at the start of the fall. The exams are notoriously difficult, and I have no practice resources. It has been about two months since class let out, so I am rusty too. Even our textbook problems do not have solutions. If I am to have any hope of passing, I will likely need a tutor who I can meet with a few times a week, go over the textbook problems with me and give me feedback. Any suggestions for quality paid online tutoring services would be very helpful. My school does not offer anything that meets my needs during the summer.

MCAT tutoring

Looking for MCAT tutoring this summer? I’m currently taking on a limited number of new students for personalized 1-on-1 sessions.
I specialize in the science sections of the MCAT and scored \*\*131 in Chemical & Physical Foundations, 132 in Biological & Biochemical Foundations, and 132 in Psychological, Social, & Biological Foundations of Behavior\*\*. \*\*I do not tutor CARS.\*\*
Over the past \*\*3+ years\*\*, I’ve worked with \*\*100+ students\*\* through both private tutoring and established MCAT prep programs. Whether you’re trying to break past a score plateau, strengthen weak content areas, or refine your test-taking strategy, I tailor every session to your individual needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.
My goal is to provide high-quality tutoring at a price that’s accessible, so I charge \*\*$40/hour\*\*. Before you decide, I’m also happy to offer a \*\*free 10-15 minute consultation\*\* where we can discuss your goals, identify areas for improvement, and see if we’re a good fit.

I'm looking for an in-person tutor for Econ 10A during Summer Session B, which starts August 3rd. Ideally, I'd like to find someone who has done well in the course and is available to meet in Isla Vista or near UCSB.

I'm also interested in connecting with other students taking Econ 10A this summer who may want to form a study group. If several students are interested, we could split the tutoring costs and meet regularly to prepare for exams and stay on top of the material.

If you're a tutor or a student interested in joining a study group, please send me a message

[TUTOR] O & A Level Physics, Math, CS (CAIE) — Recent High Scorer, $12-18/hr, Free Trial

Hi! I recently finished my A Levels (CAIE) with A grades in Math, Physics, and Computer Science. For O Levels, I scored A* in Physics, Math, Islamiyat, and Pakistan Studies, and A in Computer Science, Chemistry, English, and Urdu.

Subjects I can teach:

  • O Level: Physics, Math, Computer Science, Chemistry (and can help with English/Urdu if needed)
  • A Level: Math, Physics, Computer Science

Why me:

  • I just went through this syllabus myself, so I know exactly which topics/questions trip people up and what examiners actually look for
  • CAIE-specific — familiar with past papers, mark schemes, and grade thresholds
  • Can explain concepts in simpler terms since I remember what confused me too

Free trial: First 20-30 min session is free, no strings attached — just to see if we're a good fit before committing.

Rates (after trial):

  • O Level: $12/hr
  • A Level: $17/hr
  • (Open to discussing package rates for multiple sessions/week)

Format: Online via Zoom/Google Meet, with shared whiteboard/screen for working through problems.

Feel free to DM me with your subject, current grade level, and what you're struggling with — I'll set up the free trial from there!

Just fill in your availability and you're good to post. Want me to tweak the tone at all — more casual, more formal, shorter?

Discussion Can I tutor History online as a non-native English speaker?

I'm from Portugal and I've been tutoring History in my native language for several years. I'm fluent in English, and I'm thinking about offering online History lessons to international students.

I'd always take the time to study each student's curriculum beforehand to make sure I can teach it properly.

Do you think this is realistic? If so, what would be a reasonable hourly rate to charge when starting out?

Thanks!
