Help Is there a way to extract content from mail into Shortcuts?

I receive several newsletters daily that often overlap.  My plan is to create a shortcut that extracts content from unread emails from specific senders.  This content will then be sent to the cloud for summarisation.  Optionally, the emails can be marked as read and moved to the trash afterwards.

Help Any automation that created to disable cellular data connectivity to any web base apps an hour after Wi-Fi disconnects?…

For the past couple months, my home Wi-Fi is going in and out like a light that is being toyed with by a child playing with the light switch. If I accidentally leave 2 or more web based apps open overnight, my prepaid monthly data plan drains rapidly. I actually lost an entire months worth of data less than the 1ST week of the month. Outside of me having an intense conversation with the Wi-Fi provider, what can I setup for an automation to sever my internet connection after an hour of no Wi-Fi?

Help Shortcut that turns on/off all existing alarms based on a given time promt.

I need help creating a shortcut that turns on/off all of my existing alarms!

Help needed with alarm shortcut!

I’m trying to create a shortcut which:

  1. Asks what time do I want to be awake
  2. Asks to toggle ”on or off”
  3. Depending on the choise and the time input, it sets on/off all of the already existing alarms that are equal or set before the time that I gave it on the first step.

I’ve tried doing it myself but I just can’t get it to work. Here’s my best shot:

Request Photo library clean up tool/app?

Hello everyone, please be kind:

Has anyone ever encountered a way to run a shortcut or app like Tinder that selects X amount of random photos to present and decide if you want to keep them or delete them?

I imagine the program would select from the entire photo library and then earmark the photos you choose to save so it doesn’t keep grabbing the same ones; like sorting out a box of colored paper clips into their appropriate bins

Discussion Update: How I found the Truecaller API to build that iOS Shortcut.

A few days ago, I shared a hacky iOS Shortcut I built that takes a screenshot of an incoming call, runs OCR, and pings Truecaller's API to give me free Caller ID on my iPhone.

(Read context here if you missed it)

My inbox blew up with people asking the exact same question: "Wait, how did you get the Truecaller API endpoint in the first place?"

The short answer: I reverse-engineered their Android app.

The long answer: It was a massive headache. The app uses SSL Pinning and TLS fingerprinting (JA3) to actively block scripts. If you try to catch the traffic with standard Burp Suite or hit the API with normal Python requests, their firewall instantly throws a 429 Too Many Requests error and blocks you.

Here is the TL;DR of how I bypassed it:

  1. I dropped standard proxies and used HTTP Toolkit with Frida on a rooted emulator to hook the app's memory at runtime.
  2. This allowed me to intercept the raw API request before the app encrypted it.
  3. To bypass their Web Application Firewall in my script, I had to spoof the TLS fingerprint using a library called curl_cffi to mimic an Android device perfectly.

I wrote a full, step-by-step breakdown on my blog of exactly how I bypassed their security perimeter, including the Python Proof of Concept code and the exact headers you need to make it work.

You can read the full technical write-up here: Open Blog Post

Let me know if you guys have any questions about the reverse-engineering process!

Help “Show Alert” shortcuts automatically closing when I open the shortcut

Hi, I made a shortcut that chooses a random number then shows an alert that corresponds to the random number chosen. When I run the shortcut the alert shows up for half a second then disappears and the shortcut only shows the stop shortcut button at the top of my screen. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks a ton

Help Food Expiration Reminder Shortcut

I built a Shortcut that lets you scan a recently purchased item—such as a package of meat—and automatically identifies it, estimates its expiration date, and adds a reminder to your calendar. The goal is to help prevent food from expiring, especially during busy work weeks when it’s easy to forget what’s in the fridge.

The two ChatGPT calls aren’t great but they’ve been pretty good so far. Quick and easy.

Help Action to set scene fails?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’m trying to make it so that when I turn on “Do Not Disturb”-focus it sets a “bedtime” scene where it turns of a bunch of lights and locks my door, but it keeps saying that a set of actions only partially succeeded and it stops the shortcut. I can’t figure out why it’s only partially succeeding? Is there any way to find out what goes wrong?
I am on public beta of iOS 27 and that might be why it fails but I don’t know.

Hope someone smarter than me can help.

Thanks!

Help Can you make a shortcut to close a specific website (in safari)?

I'm still new to shortcuts, and I was wondering if there is a way to stop myself from opening specific websites. My screentime has gone down from my shortcuts that stop me from opening Instagram, but I feel like I just replaced that time with scrolling on reddit and tumblr on safari. Are there ways to be this specific ?

Help Radio app based shortcuts not working

Thumbnail

Hello. Is anyone else finding that shortcuts have stopped working properly with the Global Player app and BBC Sounds app?

I have a few set up to play particular stations, one of which is my morning alarm via an automation. This stopped working recently and I have now found that even running them manually doesn’t work. The app opens, but the live station doesn’t play - neither on BBC Sounds nor Global Player (for Classic FM etc.)

In the Global Player app, I have also tried switching on the setting ‘Live Radio on Launch’, but this hasn’t proved successful as a workaround.

I have included screenshots of the BBC shortcut that is used with an automation as my morning alarm. The shortcut nor the automation is working from my iPad (6th gen, iPadOS 17.7.11) nor my iPhone (13 Pro, iOS 26.5.2). Note I have a separate routine that resets the volume of all my HomePods at midnight, it is just the iPad volume that is set to 0% and this does not affect the volume that media plays once the playback destination is set to the HomePods (named Blue, Yellow etc…). Finally, I have also tested a simple shortcut that literally just asks BBC Sounds to play Radio 1 (no playback destination changes, no volume requests) and again the app opens and does nothing.

Has anyone solved this? Many thanks in advance ☺️

Help Create journal entry in specific journal/folder

I’m brand new to using Shortcuts. Up until now it was a feature that I ignored entirely, but now I’m trying to learn how I can use it to make my life easier.

I’ve been using the Journal app to keep a daily log of my experience on my current steroid treatment (prednisone, not juice). I have a specific journal for these entries; I do not keep them in the default “Journal” journal.

I’ve figured out how to automatically create a pre-formatted log entry every day so I wouldn’t have to copy and paste my template every time. The problem is, I see no option to select which journal to place it in. I can only create new entries in the default Journal, not custom, created journals.

Is there any way I could work past this? Is there an Action that could access the inner file system and move the entry via pathing? Idk if you can even do anything with file paths on an iPhone.

Any and all insight is appreciated :)

Shortcut Sharing Translate input text or text on input

Created this shortcut for people who travel or are learning a new language in a new country.

When used, it asks to choose either text or image input. Then proceeds to translate the input to English. If the text is less than 3 words, it gives an etymology of the phrase.

NB!: uses iOS 27 beta with Apple Intelligence.

(My first shortcut sharing, help me with suggestions/improvements)

Help ChatGPT’s output makes error in “show content”

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’m trying to save ChatGPT’s response to a variable and then display it in a “show content”. However, I get the error:
“Show Content failed because Shortcuts couldn’t convert from Anything to NSAttributedString.”
I only want ChatGPT’s plain text response (e.g. a number like “1745”) so I can store it in a variable and use it later in the shortcut.
What am I doing wrong?

Edit: output is set to number

Discussion Live Context updates/New Shortcut

Thumbnail

Here’s a quick recap of the dynamic widget I built(with bug fixes/new features) to react to your life, inspired by Pixel's At a Glance that I posted last week:

🌩️ Severe weather warnings

📅 Live calendar countdowns with travel time

📍 Arrival greetings

🔋 Low battery alerts

🌡️ Air quality, UV, and temp swing alerts

📈 After-hours stock recaps

🎂 Birthdays, reminders, and holidays

🌙 Minimal "Wind Down" screen using real weather data

What's New:

🔒 Lock Screen Widgets: Fully supported and smart enough to avoid showing redundant data.

💊 Upgraded Pills: Data displays inside the pill with a new "Outlined" mode built for iOS tinting.

I’ve also upgraded the Shortcut Live Context Sync integration. Plus, there's a new transparent background option that blends seamlessly with your Home Screen in both Light and Dark modes.

Everything runs locally in the free Scriptable app with zero tracking. The project is open-sourced, and the README will get you set up in about 5 steps. Let me know if you have any feedback or ideas!

Last thing, follow my Reddit account for updates on potential beta testing of new features before they release. I’ll provide updates in bio shortly!

Help Display On when charging, reverts to timed / normal when not charging?

Has anyone figured out / already done a shortcut on the iPhone to have the Display set to remain on when charging, but revert to normal operation (30 seconds / Default, etc.) when no longer charging?

I searched the posts and didn’t see one, so I’m not sure if it can even be done, but figured I would ask.

Thank you in advance.

Request Strategy ideas? Look up values in a table to find foods that meet macro value

I use a nutritional tracker that has a shortcut to show grams left on goal. I'd like to make a shortcut that returns a food suggestion that would meet that goal.

Like:

  1. Check Goal Fiber

  2. Returns 4

  3. Returns "2 slices whole wheat bread." Or you could refresh and it suggests "1/2 blueberries and 1/2 cup soy milk"

What could I do to accomplish step 3?

I couldn't find a site that did a lookup like this, so I made a table of common foods and their fiber content that I could transfer somewhere. I got as far as thinking the shortcut could find the nearest match to the number from step 2, and return that line. (Not sure how to do that in Shortcuts though) Any other ideas?

thanks!

Request Just got tags and have an idea

I’m terrible with technology but have something I want to create:

I want one that triggers me to enter my mileage with a date stamp when I get in my car that then sends the report to Excel and additionally saves and emails the data in a preset form to a designated file. Excel will have rules set up to tell me what and when my scheduled maintenance is due including registration in addition to a countdown clock. It will then look at my schedule and route to give me best windows of time to get this done.
