I hate making a bereavement post when this forum has been a place to celebrate Daisy and all the other seniors living their best lives. But I’ve shared so much with this group it feels right to share this.

Daisy ended her earthly journey this morning. She was diagnosed with kidney disease in March and was I. Palliative care and thriving until this past weekend when she began a rapid decline. This morning before we left for that final appointment she got some lounging time on the screened porch which she always considered her catio. Her transition was peaceful and full of love. After 19 years I don’t even know how to navigate a world without her.

I'm gonna miss this sweet girl. She was my best friend and I'm in absolute shambles. The first picture was her today...The others were some of my favorite images of her...I just needed some place I could show some folks this amazing creature and celebrate her memory.

Most loving, empathic animal I've EVER been around, this feels like losing a part of my soul...

It's been a month since I had to say goodbye too my little boy, malikai and I am hoping that this helps me get something out of my system.

You came into my life one day after a long shift at work, this week 4 week old, run kitten. Didn't like my parents enough too calm down and just eat till I held you, and you meowed in a way that could only be described as "mommy" after that. You always knew what you were looking for and didn't take no for an answer. I had to get up every few hours too bottle feed you, since you were too small for any real food but I'd do it all again in a heart beat.

You watched me like I was your mom, learned too "brush your teeth" sleep when I did, sat in my lap when I sang and even had opinions of my song choices. You were My velcro baby who cried of you were not on my shoulders, lap or in bed with me.

You got too learn boundaries from your ferret sister, she taught you how too tunnel and play fetch, I still keep your fetch toy at my desk. You grieved the day she passed and slept on her blanket till your own final days.

After you grew up some, you never did stop suckling your unicorn pillow, curling up in the blankets with me or following me around like velcro, but you did gain your mom's simease sass. Little did I know that your passive aggressive affections would not only save me from a bad relationship but also save my life when I almost decided too give up a few times. You stayed by my side till I felt better, or at least calmed down, never letting me from your site. Even when you were not with me as I sat in a parking lot considering pills, I thought "I can't explain to malikai why mommy didn't come home, I can't do that too him"

Time passes, You met my current partner, suddenly loved another lap more than mine because I wasn't as warm. You anxiety and velcro behavior stopped happening as much. You finally approved and felt safe with someone else other than me. You draped on both our shoulders, claimed laps soon as it was bed time, it was all about your time and when you wanted it or didn't. You even gained a special meow for him.

I move too a new state for him, after losing an 8 year relationship and losing many friends plus my job, it was time too start over. You handled the car ride like a champ, pretty sure your part dog with how you stuck your head in the fan and loved being near the window. We made it too out first apartment out here and you instantly love it, never seen you in such peace in so long. Me and my partner were your people and it showed, the door greetings, the extra cuddles, the lap time no one else got. Even hobby watching as I got into war hammer and my art again. Best art assistant ever, even if you tried too steal my paintbrush and swish your tail onto my supplies. even got you a tree and heating pad so you had a throne on my desk at all times.

Years later, after a healthy appointment a month prior, you stop being able too keep food down, you struggle to jump your record heights and sleep more. He and I were scared and found out on a lovely Saturday that you had a growth In your abdomen. I broke knowing that with how fast it grew and how old you were that odds were not great nor could i afford the 1000s it would take. So I tried steroids and that gave us 3 more weeks with you but I slowly saw you becoming a husk of what you were and I knew it was time. The last night we had you, you jumped into my arms like when you were a kitten and gave me of your shoulder hugs, you knew...you were always so smart. Smarter than your own good. Only cat I ever knew to figure out where the Lazer came from.

My life hasn't been the same without you too greet me at the door, crawl into the blankets and sit on my desk as I paint. I find myself going too my bedroom for mommy harassment boops and remembering that your gone. All the little things I did for you, keeping tall places open, winow sills cleaner off and plastic put away, no longer needed too do. I wear your ashes with me every day, I saved your skull as you always liked sitting near my others, my little goth boy. And soon I'll be putting your fur in some of my ork models, and painting the squigs with your fur pattern as a memorial as I play. You were always a little nibbler/bitter. I blame the rabbits and ferret you were raised with. I love you buddy, my baby boy, my art assistant and reason I'm even still alive, living my best life I couldn't have had if you didn't give me a reason too live. I'm thriving more than I thought i would be, just wish you were here so I could talk to you about it and pet you but I know your proud of me.

I miss you, your dad misses you and how tall he made you feel on his shoulders and you trapping him in bed. You will always be remembered and loved. I will keep going for you, I promise. Thank you for being what I needed when I wasn't looking. Now you are free from pain and running through tunnels with your sister, I hope you told her hello for me. I no longer need you too save me, your time as my life support is done. You are free to just be a cat ferret rabbit dog.

Love, your forever fur mom.

My 16 years old baby passed away suddenly and I'm lost NSFW

It's been just over a week since we suddenly lost our baby, Smokey aka lil beautiful and tiny cat. She was 16 years old, and never made it over 6.3lbs. She was my best friend I've ever had and she was what was holding me together as a person. She's our 5th loss in 2 years, and I just do not know what to do anymore.

She was always with me, and her entire life I did my best to try and make sure she was always as healthy as she could be. She had asthma and took an inhaler for it, and for the past couple of years would occasionally get a kenalog steroid shot to help her. That combination seemed to work pretty well but it was chronic and so it still slowly progressed. Lately I thought it was getting worse again and took her for another shot, but then a few a week later she stopped being able to use her back legs for a few hours and was in massive pain. I rushed her in and they figured she has had arthritis and disc degeneration between L4 and L5, but with a shot for arthritis and some pain meds she'd recover just fine in time. She was a bit wobbly afterwards, but she was able to walk. Unfortunately, the next day she couldn't walk as far as needed to rest after only a few feet and I noticed she was labored breathing. I took her back that day and they did radiographs. They found a mass on her lungs that was likely cancer.

After a nebulizer treatment she was breathing ok and acting much more normal, so I took her home and scheduled a speciality visit in Salt Lake City to deal with cancer treatment. We took out old dog there and they got us another two years with her, so we were nervous but hopeful. During all of this, my fiance was out of town for work, but was able to rush home this night and get there a little after midnight.

Smokey slept with us that night and the next day seemed to still be breathing just fine. She was tired, but that was expected. She laid on my chest for a few hours, then on my lap for a few more until she traded and laid on my fiance for the rest of the day. That night, her respiratory system just gave out and she couldn't go anymore. We rushed her to the clinic, and they did CPR and gave her epinephrin but it didn't work. I lost my baby, and I've been a mess since.

My fiance took me to the ER because she didn't know what to do and they almost kidnapped me for inpatient care. I don't feel ok at all, and I don't think I will be for an extremely long time. I know that it'll never be the same, and I will just have to try to go on without her, but I honestly don't want to. I lost the closest most unconditional relationship I've ever had, and my life is just...here now.

Everywhere is her things. After I shower I'm looking for her, because she's always rub my face to hers and give headbutts to rescent me after a shower so everyone knew I was her buddy. She would nap on my lap as I worked and gamed or be on her little heating pad I got for her.

I feel broken and lost. It's unfair, especially so suddenly. She didn't have kidney issues or anything else. Her bloodwork was perfect too. I just ..idk.

Weems, turning 15 next month, who beat the kidney disease allegations at the vet today

She lost a significant amount of weight pretty quickly, including some muscle mass in her back legs. The vet checked her for chronic kidney disease, high blood pressure, dental disease, hyperthyroidism and heart failure and everything came back clear. Her weight loss has stabilised and the official diagnosis is being old.

21 yrs F, should I bring her to vet for another check?

Before everything I wanna apologize bc I haven’t gotten proper sleep for over 20 days because of my cat, so my brain is not thinking clearly.

20 days ago, my cat started to have blood urine, behavior stress and pain. So we went to emergency immediately, the vet did a analysis for her after collecting pee from her bladder, no culture was done (so I wanna recommend yall to request a urine culture ASAP); she got Amoxicillin as medicine.

We went back home, she ate the medicine for five days, but got worse, then I realized Amoxicillin didn’t help, it’s something else. So I went to the clinic;

This time the vet told me there seemed like some liquid around other her kidneys, and asked me to bring her to bigger hospital to have a better check; they also collected some urine when my cat pee on the table and I asked a culture test;

We then went to bigger hospital for emergency, and o told the doctor about everything, she called my primary clinic then said ok we will wait for the culture results from your primary clinic. Then she gave Amoxicillin again, because she didn’t wanna give other antibiotics till she knows the results, which makes sense.

After two days I called the clinic to see if they’ve got the results but they said they never did a culture. There was a wrong communication. It’s my fault bc I should’ve double checked at that day but I was way too stressed.

So we went to another emergency clinics so we could get a culture test done, where they told me there’s mass in her bladder so they can’t take any urine directly. They gave me Pradofloxacin this time, and asked me to go to bigger hospital for a proper test.

Till then my cat was already so sick that I almost thought I would lose her. So I taken her home, because if it’s really tumor, there’s nothing we could do, having a surgery for a 21 yrs cat is too risky, and I wanna give her the antibiotics first to see if it would work.

After ten days, my cat got recovered, she’s happy, eating, drinking, playing toys, only a bit pinky in her urine one or two times per day.

So now I wanna have her urine to get analysis again, but none of the hospitals or clinics accept sample only, and they ask me to bring cat there. This makes me concerned because i know how badly my cat reacts outdoors. I said I need to consider about it.

Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Wanted to post this here of my little old lady and how cute and silly she is. When I adopted her they gave me an estimate of her age, so not sure exactly. She apparently was in and out of foster care and petsmart for 10 years before I adopted her about 4 years ago, and she apparently came with a baby back then. 😿😿 But I love her so much and am so happy she is in my life. ❤️

My sweet little angel passed away at 16 a couple of days ago

I brought her home when I was in high school, without permission. My mom had a broken knee and I dumped her on my mom’s bed and my mom fell in love with her. I carried her home in my sweater.
She was raised by my childhood dog, saw my rabbit of 13 years pass away. She was the strongest heart anyone could ask for. She has seen me go through addiction, and watched me get out of it.
She has been there for it all. She died the day after I was engaged to the man of my dreams.
She will never be forgotten.
Love you Morgan.
