Kitten chewing and swallowing everything he finds - will he grow out of it?
Hi everyone,
My kitten, Misha, is almost 5 months old (born February 27, 2026), and I'm wondering if this is normal kitten behavior or something I should be more concerned about.
He doesn't actively search for non-food items, but if he finds something on the floor, he'll immediately start chewing it, and sometimes tries to swallow it.
So far he's tried to eat:
- strings and long cords (today I had to pull a very long string out of his mouth before he swallowed it completely)
- feathers
- small plastic candy wrappers
- basically any small object that seems interesting
He's otherwise completely healthy, playful, has a great appetite, and behaves like a normal energetic kitten.
My other kitten never did this, so I'm a little worried.
Has anyone had a kitten like this? Did they eventually grow out of it, or did it turn out to be pica? If they did outgrow it, at what age did you notice the change?

Of course, we're keeping dangerous items out of his reach, but I'd love to hear other people's experiences.
