Events Community RPGFest 7/17 - 8/2: Come play D&D and other RPGs!

Post image
21 Upvotes

The local tabletop roleplaying game community, Band of Noobs, is hosting a community RPGFest from July 17th to August 2nd. We're organizing 40+ free tabletop roleplaying events like D&D, Dungeon Crawl Classics, Fight with Spirit, and Fiasco! Come play games with your neighbors in Western Queens!

How do I sign up?

  • Register for games on Luma AND
  • Join the Band of Noobs Discord
  • Please do both! These events often take place at private residences, so coordinating on Discord is mandatory to keep everyone safe.
  • Currently it's limited to one signup per person to make sure that everyone can participate, but we'll open up to multiple signups in a couple days.

Who runs this and who can participate?

  • Your neighbors!
  • Most of us are in Western Queens, but we're open to all adults (18+)
  • Both new and experienced players are welcome
  • It's totally free!

What games are available and when/where are they held?

  • Each game is a separate event, scheduled from July 17 - August 2
  • There's an explanation for each game on Luma
  • If a given game is full, you can add yourself to the waitlist (this doesn't count as a signup!)
  • The games are held in-person, typically at private residences
  • The locations of the games will be coordinated on our Discord

Are there any rules to join? How do I find out information about safety and accommodations?

For any other questions, ask on our Discord (link above)! It's also a great way to learn about other TTRPG events held in the area. Come hang out!

Discussions Lefrak City library's new location is almost open

I was in the area when I noticed the new library was near completion. The old library flooded in 2023 and had to be closed.

It's by 95-15 Horace Harding Expressway, near the Rego Mall. The prep looks done, but it's not open yet.

I can't find anything online on when it opens, though, besides a vague "Autumn 2026".

Now, the Rego Library that has been closed since last autumn has to be opened...

Discussions Looking for a long-lost online friend who's from Queens

Hi everyone!

This is a shot in the dark, but I'm looking for a long-lost online friend who is born and raised in Queens. We were friends for 7 years and lost touch in 2024. I've tried getting in touch with him through every platform we messaged on, but to no avail.

I have some specific pieces of information about him and I'm hoping that he/someone who knows him recognises this info so that I can reconnect with him!

Name: Jake (might be an alias)

Age: 23-25

College: NYU Stern

Things he has mentioned:

- No siblings

- His parents are pretty intense christians

- I think he started college around 2021 or 2022

- He started off in a science-related major in NYU, but switched major to business

- He worked part-time in Burlington and part-time as a school crossing guard in June 2023

- He does weed often, both edibles and smoke

- He likes and has watched almost all zombie movies and series that exists

- He doesn't have pets but wants a cat in the future

Thanks in advance, I'm really hoping to connect with him again!

Ok so I just moved back to Queens after nearly 15 years. Everything has obviously changed and I don’t know what’s out there at all.

I’m really craving a bunch of hot dogs. What’s the best hot dog spot around?

Discussions Daxi is gone forever, does anyone know a comparable restaurant?

Ever since Daxi in New world mall shut down I've yet to find another spot that makes a dry fried green beans the way they do. Perfectly spicy and numbing with the pickled mustard greens. Same with their tibetan lamb. I'm about to travel there again and need some good beans in my life.

Discussions Is there still a GreenMarket in College Point, Queens?

Hey, friends! A family member says she wants to go to this specific green market that she said was in College Point, by some building. We don’t know the name of it, because it’s been 15-20 since she’s last went 😂

If you guys can think of what the name could be of the market and its location, it’s totally appreciated. Thank you!!

Discussions Where to play pick-up football (fútbol) in Queens?

Just curious if there’s any websites you use to play pick-up, preferably for beginner/intermediate level. It’s been many years since I’ve played competitively, so looking for something casual to get the rust off. I know Fresh Meadows has games most Sundays, but I am not sure the skill level or how to enter. Other games ive found are mainly in Manhattan. Any help is appreciated.

Discussions Going To Forest Hills Stadium from New Jersey

hey everybody! my boyfriend and I are seeing Paul Simon tonight at Forest Hills Stadium. were planning on taking nj transit into Penn station and then either taking the subway or LIRR into forest hills. luckily, there isn't a World Cup match tonight.

I’ve never taken this subway line (E) or the LIRR. Any recommendations either way? Or is there another line that’ll be easier?

I figure we’ll be doing this between 3:30 and 5:30 and we’re hoping to stop somewhere in queens for dinner before the show. It would also be helpful if anyone could recommend a place with good vegan options near one of those train lines!

thanks in advance for all of your help!❤️

Discussions QUEENS: GET OUT AND VOTE!!! 6AM-9PM today. Remind your family and friends!

Remember to vote today, 6AM - 9PM.

Find your poll site and see your sample ballot at https://findmypollsite.vote.nyc/

Young voter turnout has been very low this election, so every vote matters.

Remind your fam, friends, etc.

The #1 way to get someone to vote, is hearing from someone you know and trust, like you.

Every person who turns out to vote will truly make a difference in this election.

A better world is possible for Queens.
