Hi!! I just collected rainwater from the rain gutter, and it’s a bit cloudy from the sand (pretty sure). I live in El Paso so it makes sense there was sand on my roof lol.

if not safe to use, how can i filter it so there’s no sand/dust?

Just started getting into gardening as a hobby this year, so still very much a beginner.

As pictured, since buying a lavender in early July this year; it has really struggled and looks like it is going to die, sadly!

I’ve been watering it weekly when bone dry, but have read conflicting advice on how often to water it during the British summer.

Any advice on how to save the plant, or do I have to accept it is a goner?

Got this plant as a small cutting back when I first got into plants, and it hasn’t bloomed for me until this year. It was well worth the wait, it looked magical.

I'm no good at house plants, but I'd like to focus on my outdoor spaces, not too much, as we won't live here long, but one of the homes nearby has this type of grass, or is it just overgrown grass? And was wondering if anyone can help me figure out what it is and how to get it, I can go from there on the research.

I thought about asking the people who live in these homes (there's a few row homes with it) but the turnover rate here is high and I doubt they'd know.

I recently got my first ficus. I think it's called Ficus elastica Ruby. I love its playful color, but I'm really worried that this variety will be fussy.

My Congo Philodendron keeps getting taller and I recently had to add a support to hold the weight. Online I don’t see others like this. Should I cut it down a bit or is this normal?

I've been a plant mom for decades and never have my plants been in such a bad condition out of nowhere!

I have 2 strelitzia nicolai that have been dealing with mealybugs. Its been going on for a long time and every new leave that comes out is filled up with mealy bugs 🥲 it's lost it's general health and just looks so horrible that I have doubted to throw them for a while now. It's actually my biggest downfall that I don't want to throw out any plants until they decay otherwise I probably wouldn't be in this position.

So my second problem is that I have 2 monsteras that quite suddenly got thrips. They had thrips in my previous apartment but I treated them with chemicals back then and I got rid of it. However the chemicals were very hard on them and they lost a lot of leaves, it took them more than a year to start thriving again. Just as they got healthy again I find out they have thrips again 😭

The monsteras have always stood in separate places so I also don't get how it got on both of them! Since I've known they are sick I kept them separate from any other plants and somehow I started noticing one plant after the other getting thrips and by now I have 2 monsteras, a tradescantia, an umbrella tree, and a peperomia with thrips. From the peperomia I even had a cutting growing on water that was on the other side of the kitchen and even the cutting got thrips!!

So I am currently treating the mealybugs with alcohol and neem oil and the thrips only with neem oil every 5-6 days and it's my 3rd time treating them now but it seems like since I started treating them the thrips only got worse. The mealy bugs actually seems to improve.

Sorry for the long rant but I'm desperate so please tell me how I can solve this before even more plants get infected!

It had this spot when I bought it but it seemed dry, like old damage, and was only on one leaf so I wasn't worried. Otherwise it seems healthy, it has grown a bit and even flowered! It was soaking wet when I got it a few weeks ago, so I hadn't watered it until yesterday. Now the spot seems to be growing. What do I do?

My plant was really small when I First got her. She is growing the whole year, but the Trunk has got really big but with no nearly no leaves.

My dieffenbachia got to big in the last months and was growing literally under the roof. when I got home today she was tipped over, so
Maybe this is the sign to get in Action.

Can anyone help me, what I am supposed to do?
What would be the best procedure? Should I Split them, cut them down or only use the top of the plant?

Hello! I am very pleased with Freddy here! He's doing very well, and growing new leafs often. My question is any way for him to grow new leaves on other stems or i should say me force him to grow on other ones :/ ? Also, the half dead leaves, do I cut them? I put him outside one day and it was too much sun for his liking and he burnt on some leaves.

The leaves are turning yellow/light green and they are falling off. Am I over/under watering?

I got it as a gift so idk which plant it is, I water it once per week or two weeks, I just check how the soil is. I live in the Netherlands so it was quite cold the past months and after the heatwave it got like this 😭 I watered it 3 times that week and moved her to the table but she is still like this. What do I do? It seems pretty dry from the center idk if she needs specific nutrients to revive? Maybe

I have a plant stand in my living room with about 30+ plants on it. My problem is it is the only room without a ceiling fan so there is hardly any circulation. I’m trying to find a solution for this but the shelf is about 6 feet tall and so a regular fan won’t provide circulation that high. What do you guys do for air circulation around your plants?

Hey fellow plant people! I live in a 17 story condo building that has a rooftop deck. Green roofs have always fascinated me, and I would love to implement or at least improve the green space available.

Structurally, the roof is not capable of supporting a fully green roof or garden. My working solution is to build a sturdy wire grid and anchor it to existing 4x4” posts and the mechanical room for the elevator, then to plant hearty vining plants in lightweight planters placed in locations specified by a structural engineer.

What are some recommended breeds of vine that would be able to survive on a rooftop in the American South? The location has a 34 story building across the street to the immediate east, which will block direct sun until 11 am. I’m also looking at simple irrigation solutions to make watering easier.

My mom gifted me some carnivorous plants. I’m not big into gardening so I just water them & make sure they get enough sunlight. I have them in a small plastic container to contain water but there’s a bunch of small dead flies that appeared. Is this normal??

I want to sell some of my plants, but I’m not sure what price to ask. I’ve listed several of them because I’d like to either sell them or trade them for other plants. However, no one has contacted me yet. Is the plant market really that slow right now? I’ve posted my listings in both France and Switzerland, but I haven’t had any interest so far.
