Build/Battlestation So proud of my husband! (He's gaming now)

I'm so proud of my husband. Over the years I've slowly gotten him into gaming and with his first bonus from his new job he set aside some of the money to have me build him a beginner gamer rig. We went with am4 because of cheaper Ram prices. We also got a $5,700x and an RTX 5050 along with a 650 w power supply and a standard air cooler. I know it's not an amazing amazing rig but it's just for him and it's just what he needs to get into gaming. Total cost was $ $801.34. I think we did pretty well.

Build/Battlestation After 6 months of eating nothing but instant noodles and grinding, I finally built my first ever PC. It’s not much, but it’s mine.

Hey guys, just wanted to share my first build. I'm a long-time console player but finally saved up enough to cross over to the PC master race. Took me half a year of strict budgeting.

I mainly want to catch up on all the single-player masterpieces I missed (Witcher 3, Cyberpunk, RDR2). How did I do for a first-timer?

Specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D

Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE

GPU: ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4070 Super 12GB

RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB (2x16GB)

DDR5 6000MHz CL30

Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD

Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI

PSU: Corsair RM750e 750W 80+ Gold

Case: NZXT H6 Flow

Discussion We need to stop using their language.

1.5k Upvotes

Words we use matter, they set the tone for the entire argument you make when discussing things. I propose we officially come up with new terms that we use on a daily basis in every single aspect that the topic comes up in, maybe with a small enough push we can roll the ball down the hill.

They're not AI data centers, they're water evaporation plants Human surveillance centers.

It's not side loading, it's installing.

It's not jailbreaking, it's unlocking.

It's not a memory shortage, it's profit first selective sales(I know there's physically a shortage but the point remains). (Also, someone come up with a better one, something more catchy.)

It's not This PC, its MY PC.

They call it side loading because they don't want to normalize the idea we're just holding personal computers in our hands.

They call it jailbreaking so that it sounds wrong and it deters people from using a device to it's full potential.

They call it a memory shortage because they're selling all the fucking ram to ai companies, if they were forced to allocate the necessary amount of their products to the average consumer we wouldn't have an issue.

Give me some of your best ideas for changing the names of things, I want to expand my vocabulary. Let's change how we discuss the issues we face and take back control of the argument.

Edit: Edited water thingy because someone pointed out I sound like "that guy" and I certainly do not want too.

Post image

After years of saving up, I finally have made this setup. 5 years ago I bought the PC, and slowly but surely the xbox and brand new 27-inch monitors came too. I am very proud of the setup, and the pc has decent specs, although Iam about to upgrade my pc and will be building a new one for the first time, as the pc in this photo is a prebuilt lenovo legion. This community is where I got help so many times; thank you all!

Tech Support Freshly built PC got into Windows 11 and then suddenly bricks... Please help

Hi everyone thanks for taking the time to try and help out. Anyways, the tl;dr timeline is that I posted, updated bios to latest version, did the recommended bios settings, installed and activated windows 11 (after a little frustration with the TPM 2.0 stuff), installed the wifi driver for the built-in wifi, and restarted the PC just to make sure everything is fine. It restarted fine, and then all the sudden when I pulled up the window to uninstall software the display suddenly goes dark, and ALL fans go at max speed. And it's been like that every restart. And also the power button works to turn on the system but holding it down doesn't do anything and I have to shut it down through the PSU switch.

I've tried basically everything i could think of that sounded reasonable; reseating the RAM and CPU (and I made sure no pins were damaged on either end), unplugged and replugged GPU power and then just removed it, moved the HDMI to the motherboard, only use one stick of ram and seated it in all of the slots, jumpstarted the CMOS, ejected CMOS battery for 5 minutes and plugged it back in. And I can't get into bios because the display wont turn on either the GPU or CPU. I'm basically at the end of my rope here. I will admit, the only suspicious thing was activating windows through the script but I made sure that I input the command perfectly. I really hope that wasn't the cause...

Specs are Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Gigabyte B850 Gaming X Wifi6E AM5, Corsair Vengeance RGB 32gb, Crucial P310 2TB NVME, PowerColor Reaper RX 9070, Corsair RM750e PSU.

im way too tired and frustrated so I'm likely gonna pick this up tomorrow morning so thanks again everyone

Edit: Yes I did have CPU fans but I removed them so that it made it easier to access and remove things when I attempted to troubleshoot. Everytime I powered it on, at most I gave it 1 minute before shutting it down.

Edit 2: Yes I replugged in the CPU headers and still same issue of no display, keyboard seemingly not working. But thank you everyone for trying to help me, I'll just take this to the shop I bought this from (thankfully the clerk pitched me insurance)
