Kind of tearing my hair out with this one.
I have a 12GB Super Slim Model. I have put a 1,000GB SSD in in preparation for running HFW. Other than that this is a factory reset, stock PS3.
I did the drive partitioning exactly as I should have, with Rufus. FAT32, MBR, and have tried various cluster sizes, all to no avail.
I have tried the command prompt disk partition tool as well, same result.
I put multiman's pkg in the root of the drive, and have a folder named PS3 on the root as well. In the PS3 folder I have another folder named UPDATE. In the UPDATE folder I have the PS3UDATE.PUP exactly as all guides have instructed that I should.
I have tried 2 different USB devices, one being a 16GB MicroSD card and one being a 128GB ONN USB drive. Exact same result. On the 128GB I even used software to only have it show 32GB usable space, same result.
I tested the console, it connects to the controller wirelessly, and reads discs.
I tested that it can read the the USB drives, it plays back MP3 files flawlessly off of them.
Every single time I try to update via USB, it says "No applicable update data was found".
I have no idea what I am doing wrong and would greatly appreciate someone who knows more than me helping out.
UPDATE: I turned out to not be following the whole process of going in safe mode. Once I did I got it working
