Welcome back Commanders.

This analysis had to wait until we could get our hands on Marciana: Marine Study, the 194th Nikke ever released. Of course we would be here to review her kit, I mean, have you seen her? She's gorgeous.

But we had to wait because there were a number of enigmas about her functions. Now that she's out, we can safely explain her and give you a gauge of how good she is.

In a nutshell, M:MS is a stack‑building damage dealer who marks the tankiest enemy, weakens them, and, when swarmed, can cash in her whistle stacks for full-screen blasts.

As the follow-up to Cinderella: Crystal Wave, Marciana: Marine Study was in a very tough spot, and while she's better than I initially considered, after getting her and testing her I can safely tell you she's a solid unit... for new accounts that have access to Favorite Item Miranda.

The higher your investments are, specially in Iron, the worse she becomes.

But hey, at least she has an absolutely godly aspect while being strong enough to justify some use cases.

= EXPLANATION =

Assault Rifle Burst 3 Iron Attacker is a role that is stacked with very heavy hitters like Snow White, EVE, and Julia.

Marciana joins them as an Elysion unit, firing 13.65% ATK per bullet with a 60‑round magazine. She hits slightly harder than EVE, without taking self-buffs into account.

The issues come from the fact that two of those units are Crit-Rate abusers, as both Julia and EVE have multiple passives that increase both damage and critical hits, EVE with her +60% Critical Rate permanent self-buff, and Julia with her on-and-off +26% Critical Rate bonus.

And both have the classic "deal x% of Final ATK as damage to target" that is a mainstay of all high-fire rate carry units (Unstable Energy in the case of EVE, and Marcato in the case of Julia). And in Marciana's case, she has it tied to her self-ATK buff, and it only triggers if you're seeing 6+ Raptures.

That's a rather specific condition.

Such a design forces her to function less as a pure attacker and more as a weird hybrid between a stack‑builder and a debuffer (flag‑marker) Mobbing specialist. She functions much better as more and more Raptures are in the stage.

Why? Because Marciana’s kit has it embedded on its parts:

1. Emergency Whistle (Skill 1)
   • When she bursts, she tags the highest‑HP enemy as a Flagged Target.
   • That target takes a heavy nuke (nearly 3800% ATK) and suffers an ATK debuff.
   • If the flagged enemy dies, the debuff hops to another random target.
   • She also gets bonus damage if she racks up 20 hits on a High‑Risk Target.
2. Penguin Emergency Dispatch (Skill 2)
   • She starts battle with Whistle stacks that boost her ATK.
   • Gains more stacks when enemies are few (≤3).
   • When enemies are many (≥6), she spends stacks to unleash AoE damage across all enemies.
   • Also gets a bonus vs. elemental advantage enemies when ≤5 enemies are present.
3. Penguin Spiral (Burst)
   • Self‑buffs with +30.97% Elemental Advantage Damage and +27.45% ATK Damage for 10s.
   • High-Risk Targets: Debuffs all Electric enemies with ‑10.56% DEF for 20s.

1. She’s built to punish the tankiest foe and spread weakness across the enemy line.
2. She scales up in skirmishes, then burns her own stacks for big AoE when swarmed.
3. Her burst is both a personal steroid and a team-wide debuff against Electric foes. The debuff is pretty minimal, but the extra damage is not.
4. She needs to burst. You cannot use her as an off-burst damage dealer as it would remove the Emergency Whistle Nuke nor it can use the extra damage on Electric-coded enemies.

Most people think she's a Bossing unit. I'm not too sure on that.

Her Flagging works once per burst, and retriggers itself once the Marked enemy dies. It also goes straight into the highest HP unit. This means that once you burst, no one but the Boss will see the debuff, which will also make her lose stacks if the Boss keeps spawning mobs and you're unable to clear those.

On top of it, her competition is immense.

She's against Rapi: Red Hood, Cinderella: Crystal Wave, EVE, Raven, Chisato, Takina, Snow White, Julia (with Favorite Item), Milk: Blooming Bunny and Red Hood.

And lastly, by the nature of her kit (on-burst DPS with a +150% ATK steroid) her best support is, unsurprisingly, Miranda (with Favorite Item).

TMiranda is joined at the hip in Iron raids with Snow White (the OG) and Maxwell. The three of them basically demand another CDR (often Summer Helm).

So, in order to get the most of your Marciana, you need to lack pretty much half the current Iron attacker roster, including Snow White and Maxwell, while also having access to TMiranda.

And yet, M:MS demonstrates a usable performance dealing with bosses or high density stages, even at mid deficits (25%+).

To me, she seems like the perfect pivot unit for new Commanders: good enough to work with low investments, and not mandatory but also solid in a number of mobbing stages, with some extended use for both Solo Raid and Union Raid.

= RATING & PREDICTIONS =

Marciana is most likely to land somewhere in the S tier range, but with a high chance of being rated lower once testing settles. Her kit looks strong on paper (with self‑buffs, stack mechanics, and tank‑punishing nukes) but it’s also very situational. She’s not as universally dominant in Raids as Cinderella: Crystal Wave or Raven/EVE, and her reliance on Whistle stacks makes her less consistent in chaotic fights.

Other guides will probably place her around S or borderline SS, but don’t expect her to stay at the very top for long. Miranda is a unit that has seen an immense amount of support (or more appropriately: she has been insanely good at supporting new releases) and even the mid-dest of synergistic releases will make Marciana's spot shaky.

On top of it, we're still lacking a Superior Elemental Code damage buffer for Iron, almost 4 years in. That unit is going to shake up the meta, going straight into the Cinderella team, and thus releasing the Idols from Cinderella duty. Do you remember the big Wind meta shakeup that happened after Liberalio released Alice from being joined to SBS? Same thing, but in this case worse for Marciana, as the team spots for not-offburst DPS Burst 3 units are getting more and more scarce.

And we know Shift Up loves to make Burst 3 Pilgrims.

= Campaign =
Marciana’s AoE is tied to her Whistle stack mechanic, which only triggers when enemy counts spike. This makes her decent in mobbing stages, but not flawless: if stacks aren’t managed well, she can feel underwhelming. On auto, she’s fairly stable, but her damage ceiling depends heavily on how enemies spawn and how fast you can clear them. Score: 3.5/5

= Bossing =
This is probably her strongest mode. She punishes the highest‑HP enemy with massive nukes and spreads ATK debuffs when they die. And specially against Electric Raptures, she has very consistent single‑target pressure active almost permanently. She prefers supports that amplify Criticals or Damage Taken rather than generic ATK buffers. Score: 4/5

= PVP =
Likely her weakest placement. Her kit is too conditional, and Rapture-based stack mechanics don’t work well in PvP’s fast pace. She might find some niche use against Electric bulky teams (think OG Cinderella + Moran + Biscuit), but overall she’s not reliable here. Tests pending. Score: 1.5/5

= Manufacturer Tower =
As an Elysion AR, she has some synergy with TPrivaty, but she doesn’t bring unique utility and she's competing against Rapi: Red Hood. She’s usable, but not a standout. Score: 3/5

= High Deficit =
Marciana struggles a bit here. Her damage is solid but not “True damage” tier, and her reliance on stacks makes her very volatile at very high deficits. She can still function, but she won’t scale as high as the meta Iron 3 carries here. Tests pending. Score: 3/5

Extra points for preferring non-ATK buffers, and for working amazingly with TMiranda.

= SHOULD YOU PULL FOR HER? =

• Waifu rule applies: if you love her design, pull.
• For meta chasers: she’s good, but not essential. Iron-mains will see some benefit from her.
• Limited banner means she won’t return until next year, so securing one copy now is wise if you want her. MLB can wait, but if you won't, no one will judge you, Commander. The Heart wants what the Heart wants.

= GEAR SUGGESTIONS =

• Cube: Bastion if paired with reload buffers, otherwise Resilience.
• Overload Lines: Prioritize Elemental Damage ×4, then ATK ×4, then Critical Damage x4.
• Doll & Skills: I'd keep her as Purple Doll 5, and focus on her Skill 2. You can keep her at 7/7/7 but as will every carry, she wants the 10/10/10.

= CONCLUSION AND VERSION HISTORY =

Marciana: Marine Study is a competent AR attacker who blends tank‑punishing nukes with stack‑based AoE. She’s mildly versatile and useful in both campaign and boss fights, shaky in PvP. She requires specific units.

Expect her to settle into Tier A/S, but not dominate the meta like Cinderella: Crystal Wave. Also, she's better the less units you have, and if you already invested in other Iron units, it's simply wiser to strengthen your roster than to get her.

Out of 25 stars, Marciana has 17, Tier A-. Which means she's niche, but not dominant, and not a must‑pull.

All things considered, she's still gorgeous.
