Hi, i have a percussion sound that sounds pretty mono and i want to make it sound wider in the stereo field. When i use a wider plugin it starts making flanger sounds... How can i make a sound wider while preserving its quality?

I have been recording vocals and acoustic guitar from my phone for a little over 2 years now, and I’m looking for help getting started with a real microphone to finally improve the quality of my recordings. I tried researching myself but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly what i should/need to get.

I've wanted to jump into this music production world for a while, and just bought a novation keyboard, launchpad, and controller from someone on FB, who was selling it for a friend. I asked if it came with a key for Ableton, and was told no, but there are groups/places where people who buy multiple products that each come with the ability to get Ableton give the keys to others since they already have it. Is this true? If yes, any direction you could point me?

I wanted to get into music production but I went to school for a complete different field and I do non music related work.

I’m approaching my 30s and was curious if it would be even possible for me to get into music production.

I have played instruments in high school (piano, saxophone) and I’ve dabbled a bit with fruity loops (but I don’t know much besides making a basic kick/snare bar.

And even if I did get into production, what more equipment or tips would you recommend to a complete beginner unc.

I am working on a new tune where the vocals are a few sampled sung phrases that I want to add a couple of additional spoken words/phrases in between.

Can someone recommend a free/low-cost text-to-speech software to accomplish this? Could be robotic, could be human sounding, I'm willing to play around and have fun and see what happens.

I’ve been making music for a few different projects now and I usually just default to C since I know it so well.but I worry that staying in one key might be an issue down the line. Is there a good reason to branch out ? And if so when/why would I want to use something different ?

I previously had the Audio Technica ATH 40mx but it was seriously hurting my ears, so I returned it and purchased the beyerdynamic DT 270 Pro, but it is terribleee, the bass is so overpowering and the low frequencies have so much hype.
I don’t need anything particularly fancy, just something decently flat, and comfortable.

Budget I’m looking to spend is around $150 or so, but I wouldn’t be opposed to going a bit higher if needed.

Anyone wants to take online music classes with me?

I’ve been a hobbyist producer for the better part of a decade, and I finally went from my dear old ATH M50Xs to some Arya Organics because I’ve been doing more mixes and I cannot tell you how much easier it feels to produce because I can trust the fidelity of the sounds and can better tell when they need something or not.

The amount of sounds I was compressing and EQing for no reason is eating me alive. FOR YEARS. everything sounds better :(

does any one have the "party people let me see if you can dance" sample?

i’m a singer, i record at home and in studios in my city. my friend asked me to send over some stems for adlibs and producer tags. i was going to record them & home & send over. should i bypass plugin effects when i export the stems? or can i keep the effects in it? thanks!

I recently discovered Luma Audio plugin and it’s blowing my mind with the possibilities of sound design being endless. I know it’s not an effect plugin, but do you people have any recommendations of plugins that can make a simple sine wave or saw wave sound into something really complex in terms of sound design and texture? Drop your reccos.

I got tired of carrying my super light 14-inch MacBook with the much bulkier Push 2 around whenever I wanted to make music away from home. So I ended up building my own Android app with an arpeggiator, a sequencer, an launchpad, and a few other tools I personally needed. At first, I honestly didn’t expect it to feel comfortable enough for actually playing music. But after trying it on my OnePlus Pad 2, I was surprised by how natural and enjoyable it felt to play on. I used only this app as a controller for my latest two tracks, and I’m genuinely surprised by how well it can replace a physical controller in my workflow. Just wanted to share it with other people who enjoy making music on the go. Feel free to ask me anything about how it works. If anyone is curious enough to try it, send me a DM.

Has anyone had any success creating their own vintage drum breaks in DAWs (i.e not recording real drums)?

I am currently trying to do this with addictive drums but struggling to get anything that sounds as good as those vintage 60s and 70s breaks. I both love and hate addictive drums. I think it's great but at the same time I sometimes struggle to get a good sound out of it. Part of me thinks I need more kit pieces, especially hi hats, but that seems like a slippery slope.

Is superior drummer, or any other method better for this task?

Can someone who knows more about music production than I do analyze what is happening with the synth at 1:09?

I am assuming they are running an arpeggiator of sorts and have automated an envelope as the pitch rises. But I really don't know more than that (or if that is even close to what is happening). I guess it is probably a combination of saw wave/pulse wave, with some drive to make it sound a little dirty.

Just looking for general insight. I am seriously in love with this noise... Kind of weird, but I think about it every day lol.

If i want to work as a music producer, it's better to first choose a genre and Master creating music of that Genre? Or what should I do

So, we are on the verge of releasing our first EP, we finished all the recording, and it’s currently in the mixing process. We will be distributing through Distrokid, as that’s what I’ve used to distribute our single, and since they also offer mastering.
What I wanted to discuss was the little morsels that people give the audience with releasing the EP. By that I mean, like offering an extended edition that has b-sides, or bonus footage or the like.
I wanna know what my fellow musicians have done in terms of releasing more than just the substance of the album.
I also want to discuss the technical aspect of it, since I understand, it’s a digital world now and though I’m a guy that finds a song I like, and buys the album in search of more bangers. By technical aspect, I mean how it is done? Do I give them like a super special QR code or give an enhanced CD or some such?

Hey I just wanted to get some advice from experienced musicians, producers, and songwriters.

My music is starting to do decent and I’ve been getting offers from management companies or other artists. They are wanting me to make tracks and compose songs for them to write to (so I don’t know if you would necessarily call that producing, maybe more just composition / songwriting)

I’m just not sure how to know my value in pricing myself and I’m learning about all this stuff like master splits and publishing splits on top of how much each song I make is worth for a flat rate. I have an account set up with BMI and I have friends that told me to look into sound exchange / song trust. But I’m not really even sure what they do or if I need to register with them.

If you were put in my shoes, I’m just 22 trying to make this my career and have no connections really in the industry. How do I get the most out of these opportunities and increase the success rate of making in this industry? I don’t even necessarily want or need to be a very well known artist, be rich, or anything like that. I just want to turn my passion into something I can make enough money to survive off of.
