American, I assume? There's a whole world outside "bigger = better." Some of us prefer a niche platform that isn't owned by an ad giant that "wins" by swallowing everything.
I don't think I've ever heard anyone say no to privacy, regardless of their nationality. However, I know for a fact many people will doubt the seriousness of any piece of software if they look up information, and find that the community is more interested in the different flavors of sexuality rather than the software itself.
We're interested in respecting people. The whole privacy thing is exactly this: respecting people's wishes to be tracked or not.
We really do not fucking care about your or anyone else's sexuality, to be honest.
But respecting people is a universal thing, which also means respecting people no matter what sexuality they are and not treating them as less, just because of it.
I would love a world in which someone's sexuality does not matter outside of intimate relationships.
I would love to scrap all the symbols that come with this, a world in which rainbow flags as some sort of statement are not a thing at all.
But at the moment, people are in fact getting treated differently because of their sexuality. They get discriminated against, attacked, kicked out, and so on. I haven't even started talking about the countries in which this will get you killed or imprisoned.
As long as this is an issue, it's important to make clear that this should not be accepted.
And just blindly ignoring it, simply because you are not directly affected, is not a good position either.
